The style is order at the counter, you get a buzzer, and then pick up your food at the counter. You grab any available table once you put your order in. You have to go to the bar separately to order alcoholic drinks. We got the seafood salad, a cup of clam chowder, fish and chips, a kids shrimp and chips, and a kids corn dog which comes with waffle fries. Everything was tasty, well seasoned, not too greasy, and enjoyable. We are from the Bay Are and took a road trip to SoCal in July. We arrived around 2:00 PM and the line was still long -- a clear sign of how popular this place is! Thankfully, it moved quickly. It was very crowded, so we had to keep an eye out for seating, especially since we had a group of 8. We ended up combining two smaller tables, which worked out fine. Spending some time and Pismo and this restaurant was on my list. We left our own pups behind but I love the outdoor, beachfront seating. You order at the counter and you're handed a number. Between 2 adults and a child we got: the clams, cup of clam chowder, caesar salad, and a kids corn dog. Everything was yum! I would take that over a lobster roll in other restaurants any day... that's how good it is. The calamari strips are cooked perfectly (tender and not rubbery) along with the fries. We were looking for a good place to eat in Pismo. There's certainly a good number of places we can do that and we saw how busy Wooly's was. I had to knock off a star. The food we ate there was good. Chicken tenders were great. Cheese curds. Were great as well. You can see the photo I took of them. There are a lot of them. Now the reason why I took off a point was that we just couldn't eat the amount of cheese curds that were in the basket. I asked surrounding tables around me if they just wanted to have the remainder which was a good amount I'm estimating 20 to 30 cheese curds were left over . Saw some students and asked if they wanted them and they said sure . I didn't think anything of it. My daughter noticed it that a waiter just walked over and took the basket and said as he was taking the basket away, you can't do this. Now I'll ask the yelp Community to comment below. Is there any law out there that stops people from just giving away their food? I am not aware of it, and it very well may be a policy of that restaurant that you can't do that. And that is not at all stated anywhere. So I generally found the waiter that took the food and asked him why he did that as maybe a manager came up to me and I said no that's not right for you to take the food away I gave it to them. There was nothing wrong with the food. It was awesome. I did say that that's not right and you threw out a perfectly good amount of food. I said I knew them and they just took the food. She did state she was going to make a fresh new batch. I do appreciate that she did do that. The adult chicken tenders is way more than you should eat. Four tenders come on top of waffle fries and it is way more than you could possibly eat. The service is walk-up only, yet you're charged sit-down prices. I ordered shrimp tacos: three tacos for $17.50, with no sides included. Each taco came with just one small, filleted shrimp. Not prawns, not jumbo--just one ordinary shrimp per taco. That's three shrimp total for nearly eighteen dollars. When I asked for a lime wedge, the server told me there was "already lime on it," instead of simply bringing one. Flavor? Hard to tell, since there wasn't enough shrimp to taste. I confirmed with the bartender that this isn't a mistake--that's how they always make it. Most locals already know better, but I've lived in Morro Bay for years and decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst shrimp tacos I've ever had. Came here for a Friday afternoon getaway. This place had plenty of seating inside and out. The views from the patio were great of the ocean and Pismo pier. The menu had options for your hunger needs. I went with the Alaskan fish n chips, the cup of clam chowder w/side of shrimp. The fish was great with a crisp batter, the fries were also delicious. As for the clam chowder, it was ok but definitely had better at Splash. When ordering beer you have to order it from the bar only not with the food. This is my "go to" place. Lived on the central coast 17 years and this is the spot. My favs are sliders with onion ring upgrade (yeah, it's on the kids menu), clam chowder bread bowl, and carnita tacos. Staff greets me by name, which is a good feeling. Dogs are welcomed, but be aware there is a strict dog policy (pups must be on floor, not on benches or chairs) which used to be enforced with a iron fist by a guy no longer there and things are much more relaxed now. But if your dog misbehaves you may be asked to take dog outside. Call out to all staff as awesome and the main reason to visit, Ben / Priscilla / Olivia / Cristy / Melissa / Todd / Carina1 / Carina2 / Sara, these are all top-tier people! While camping at nearby Avila Beach, we made a noontime dash to Pismo for lunch and ended up at Wooly's. Their menu looked great and we needed a dog friendly spot too. We had a great table on the patio, ordered some cold beers and COMPLETELY enjoyed our menu selections. I had the Wedge salad, quite possibly the best one I've ever had... It was loaded with bacon, a huge serving of the most perfect avacado, bleu cheese and fabulous dressing. Also enjoyed a bowl of New England Chowder, perfectly seasoned, and loaded with the best and largest chunks of the most tender and wonderful clams. Boyfriend ordered the Cheesesteak sandwich with waffle fries, all SO delish and SO, SO generous in quality and quantity. He was very happy with his choice!! There's large prints of the menu on the walls/ramp leading to the entry as you wait in line so it made it easy to choose what to order. The venue is super casual and you order your food prior to self seating. I settled on the Ahi Tuna Burger with waffle fries and my friend kept it simple with sweet potato fries and cauliflower bites. . I subtracted one star because it was a little dirty, tables needed to be wiped and since there's no server if you need anything extra (condiments, napkins, etc) you have to get up and go to the cashier, bar or the counter by the kitchen to ask for it. Maybe they can assign someone to monitor the dining room during peak times to keep the tables tidy and alleviate with small asks. . Nonetheless, the burger was banging with a super juicy and fresh slaw. Once I saw it, I knew I should have cut it in half or run the risk of taking a home an awkwardly bitten bite as a left over.
