I've been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. Ownership has changed a few times over the decades, but I've always stayed loyal and kept coming back. After today's absurd experience, though, I am officially DONE. I will never set foot in this place again. My group ordered a hot pot (Jeongol) combo set. Anyone who knows anything about Korean food knows how hot pot works: it sits on a live burner at your table, boiling the whole time. Naturally, as it boils, the broth evaporates and gets salty. Asking for a quick broth top-off isn't a favor--it's basic hot pot standard practice everywhere. When our broth boiled down and got too salty, we politely asked for a little extra broth. To our absolute disbelief, the server flatly said no, claiming that because we ordered a "combo set," broth refills were strictly forbidden. I couldn't wrap my head around this logic. I asked again to make sure I heard right: "Are you seriously telling me we can't get broth just because it's a combo set? I've been coming here for over 20 years, and I have NEVER heard of something so ridiculous." The server just shrugged it off and said the new owner made this rule, so there was "nothing they could do." Out of sheer frustration, I asked, "So if I had offered to pay extra for a splash of broth right from the start, would you have brought it?" The server literally gave me a half-hearted, "Maybe." If extra broth costs money, fine--tell your customers that upfront! Don't just aggressively shut down a standard request and ruin our entire meal over a ladle of soup stock. The sheer greed and lack of common sense here are mind-boggling. They clearly don't understand the very food they serve, they have zero respect for long-time regulars, and their customer service is an absolute joke. This wasn't just a minor service slip-up--they completely blew off a 20-year loyal customer. Save your hard-earned money. The food here is pretty dang good, and they have a $12.99 lunch special that is available every day, including weekends, so we came in on Saturday for lunch. There is only one lady who takes your order, brings out food and banchan, busses tables, and closes out your order as well. We waited 30 minutes for both our food and banchan. She was so busy that we didn't get banchan before our food, nor did we get any banchan refills. I got the galbi tang ($15.99 for lunch special), my mom got the bibim naengmyun and my dad got the ox knee soup ($12.99 for lunch special). The broth for both were underwhelming, as the bone broth for the ox knee soup needed to be cooked way longer, and my Galbi tang broth was nothing special. The lunch special sizes are rather small, which makes sense. The bibim naengmyun was good, but needed more myun. Hard boiled egg and gim wouldn't been nice too. For the owner, please get more staff to help out! read more

This place is 5 stars easily. Can't believe I just found out about this place. Some of the best ribs and katsu I've had in a while. We started with the Deep Fried Dumplings which came out crispy on the outside with a flavorful pork filling inside. Perfect starter while waiting for the mains. For the entrees I had the Pork Katsu, a breaded pork cutlet fried served with rice and sides. The cutlet was crispy but still juicy inside and the sauce paired with it really well. Usually the sauce doesn't hit but this one definitely hit. Also tried the Braised Beef Ribs which were super tender and full of rich flavor. The meat practically falls apart and makes for a really comforting dish. Staff was great, service was good, and the overall vibe was relaxed. Definitely a solid spot if you are in Hawaiian Gardens and craving Korean comfort food. read more

We went to Woomioak in Hawaiian Gardens while visiting some family in the area. They told us it was their go-to spot for Korean food and after I could clearly see why after our visit. It was just an all-around solid meal with all the Korean classics. We got: Steamed Pork w/ Napa Cabbage, Pork Backbone Casserole, Spicy Braised Cod & LA Galbi. Portions are pretty big so it was more than a feast for 5 of us. My favorite was probably the Steamed Pork w/ Napa Cabbage. The pork is just the right texture, really tender and amazing when you wrap it in the napa cabbage with all the fixins. The spicy braised cod I thought also was really good. If you are looking for Korean food outside of AYCE, Woomi Oak should be on your radar. My wife and I decided to try this place even with 8 reviews. The food looked good and my wife read that it changed management. Located inside a pretty dead plaza, it's sort of a hidden gem on the corner. You walk in and it's lit with plenty of seating for parties of 4-10. The menu screams unique. I'll be honest, I didn't know what half of the items were. All my wife and I knew was that we wanted to try the steamed pork with napa cabbage. At $45, the meal was plenty for two people as it came with refillable sides. Yes the prices may deter you since you can get your fill from AYCE for the same price, but after watching Jinny's Kitchen and seeing how much effort it takes to prep the work, I think the price if totally warranted. The waitress was also very kind. I raved about the kimchi since I love the kimchi at restaurants instead of the store bought ones. I wanted to take this one home. She gave me a to go kimchi for free. Many dishes are offered on lunch specials: Very flavorful beef rib soup or galbi tang, it had fall off the bone meat plus some clear noodles. Cold noodle soup had very good flavor, other places offer this with icy broth but their version was just cold. Also flavorful. Kongguksu (Soy Milk Noodle Soup) is also served cold with noodles and a lot of sesame seed. We shared a crispy chives pancake or Buchujeon. The very large jokbal is a dish of pork trotters boiled in seasonings until tender, sliced thinly and served with lettuce wraps, briny tiny shrimp sauce and spicy radish kimchi. The meat is thinly sliced and had a chewy yet tender texture. We got there just before a huge lunch rush. Most affordable meal because most of the items were on special. Served with purple rice ( the waitress called it brown rice) . Will definitely be back. Quiet and feels like a small home style kitchen. We did not have to wait long for our meals, I saw a post here on Yelp that felt they were less attentive to them because they were non Korean but that was not our experience at all. They are currently running a lunch special from 11-2pm where their bean sprout soup, galbi tang, and their Korean "hangover soup" is only $12.99! It gets quite busy during those special hours just FYI. Portions are ok but not as big as the normal entree when it's full priced. My FAVE dish is their stir-fried squid! I will not be going back here! I really wanted to like this place because of the reviews, but the service/treatment was disrespectful. You know there's places that joke about when certain Korean places they treat you differently if you're not Korean. Well this was it because in a restaurant full of all Koreans we were the only ones who were disregarded while everyone else got kind smiles, they had a cart to bring out food and everyone else's they never put it on the bottom floor rack but for ours they put it on the bottom floor rack which I thought was super unhygienic and unnecessary. Everyone else also got purple rice and we didn't get an option and just received white rice. Also I've never been to a restaurant where they charge for to-go boxes??? Each to-go container we got charged for AND IT WAS THE REGULAR STYROFOAM CONTAINERS and when asked for a plastic bag they acted like we were robbing them. Also I had asked for at least the big plastic containers that they used for other people for ours because the big rib bones wouldn't fit in the styrofoam ones and and soup would drip out and she looked at me like I made no sense and that they didn't have it when clearly I saw them use it for the other people's to go. I thought the food was decent, and decently priced and on a random note the pork back bone soup tasted lik kfc seasoning to me lol but I liked it. Kalbi Jjim had incredible depth of flavor and didn't skimp on quality. Ugeoji Galbitang- Korean short rib, cabbage was the ultimate highlight. Rich broth filled with monster bone-in ribs and plenty of cabbage. I ate more than half and needed to save the rest to look forward to eating again in the morning. I couldn't sleep thinking about this soup which goes to show how good it is. Bossam was fresh. Pork Katsu was very lightly dusted in crispy panko and juicy pork. Kids didn't save us any outside of 2 bites. Saw lots of people order shared stews, squid and noodles. Seafood pancake was just okay. Not much seafood and heavy on white onions, green onions and filler batter. Suggest to skip, I've had better. Overall, I'm counting the days until I return. Don't sleep on this place.
