It seems like Cost Plus has always been around, but I never appreciated it until I lived abroad and came back. Now, I know what a lot of those food items are! Yay for the real marzipan from Germany that I can buy here when I want a sugar rush. We go to Cost Plus several times a month for my husband's British treats: McVitie's biscuits, chocolate bars like Yorkie, Double Decker, etc. We sometimes also pick up a new wine to try while we're here and my husband has tried many of the unusual beers of the world that are sold here. I would give them four or five stars if they stocked more Japanese sweets and if they carried Hawaiian Sun drinks. read more

I purchased a chair online for in-store pick-up at the Veranda location. I specifically designated my partner as the individual who would be picking up the chair & provided his full name in the order. He went first thing in the morning with his identification ready, as specified in the instructions with the order confirmation. He then experienced nothing but unhelpful, unfriendly, and suspicious attitude from the employee at the register. Not only did the employee not believe him that he was there to pick-up the chair but proceeded to REFUSE to look up the order in their system when he asked them to do so. He then had to try & contact me at work several times so I could forward him all information I had received after placing the order. Yet I guarantee had the roles been reversed and I had showed up to pick-up his order things would have went smoothly & without disbelief. This behavior was unacceptable and unprofessional, I expect better from this store and I will not be using this location for any purchases moving forward. Please coordinate some implicit bias and microaggression training soon. read more

I love Cost Plus. I usually buy wine based on the label which has actually worked pretty well for me so far, but CP helps me go a little deeper by offering tips about the contents of the bottles. It's also a great place for spices for exotic recipes without driving all over town and the teeny spice bottles to put them in. Their kitchen gadgets are pretty reasonable and you can get weird ones like a tomago omelet pan and tandoori ceramic grill plate. Besides, anywhere I can get really good wine, chocolate and hot sauce in the same place I'm set. read more

I miss my Cost Plus, I wish it was still around in the V especially during the holidays. We made the trek out to Concord and were happy to see a Cost Plus in the same area as Old Navy. This Cost plus is nick knack overload. I was able to pick up some truffles and ornaments for work gifts. I also like the international food products they have in stock, we picked up some Swedish waffle mix for our new waffle maker, can't wait to try it. I am a big ol fan of the wine selections here, you can get some good stuff from France and Italy for under $10! Awesome... I was a bit put off with the new Ed Hardy wine, wtf, what won't this brand sell its self out too? I will be hitting this store up for some great after Xmas sales fo sho! read more

Although I'd rather buy American products these days, this place offers very unique and wide variety of items. I've never been disappointed... well, other than their prices on furniture items which tend to be on the expensive side. It's a great place to find a gift (there are even gift bags available), a cheap (but good) bottle of wine, jewelry, tableware, food, you name it. read more

Add a level of intrigue into your style, whether its food, cooking, furniture- this place always has that odd thing I'm looking for. I was in today and as I walked in the lady at the front asked me if there was anything I was looking for so I said, "Do you guys have pizza stones?", she said "no". There wasn't much doubt in her voice, but there was in my head, sure enough within a minute I found what I was looking for. It was funny because as soon as she said no, I was like, well at least they have wine. People, they have great wine and it is VERY reasonable! For all you Rombauer fans you'll love Foodies Chardonnay, get this its $6.99. Parking is always good, the aisles are a bit small, but none the less a favorite. read more

I like the store and everything it has in it. It has dining furniture and great nick-nacs. Most things seem to be in a shabby chic french style but there is some other things as well. Personally I feel that at 50% off it is priced almost at a point where I would purchase things at. Try to get things on sale if you are going to get anything, it will pay off for sure. read more

Love this store! I always find neat, different things. I love the different bindis, jewelry/bags, toys, food, teas, wines, kitchen and home decor. I like this location especially because it is never crowded and in the same shopping mall as other stores I like to shop at. The only downfall is that they can be kinda expensive but are still way better then Pier 1. read more

I called your store today to speak specifically to an associate. The person (Pam) who answered the phone stated that the employee whom I was requesting to speak to could not come to the phone. I told her that it was an emergency and I needed to speak to the employee. The employees son works for me. She sighed and said hang on. This employees son was having a medical issue. There is absolutely no compassion, no humility no professionalism no sense of understanding from this woman. I went to the store, being that I am a retail manager of 30 years to explain my frustration and to say hey, get to know your employees and that's going on with them. At the end of the day, your employees make you money and bring in the customers. You treat them with dignity and respect and like you care, you have better employees. If someone is calling the store and asking for an employee by name, you dont act like it's a nuisance that they are receiving a personal call at work, you relieve them and allow them to take the call. You never know what may be happening on the other end of the phone line. I am utterly disgusted with the lack of respect in this store. I asked for the managers name and number and I was told again by Pam you just call the store. That's all I can do. I don't have the store managers name because she couldn't be bothered to write it down .I asked for the district managers number, her response is I can't give that to you. Not one time while in the store did I see her or anyone smile, greet anyone, or have any sheer interest of anyone shopping in the store. Maybe that had something to do with the leadership in the building that walks around looking like she sucked on a lemon! This one experience had soured me from EVER shopping in your location. I would never treat any of my employees like this ever. I know my employees because I make an effort to know them and make them comfortable enough with me that they tell me what's going on in their life. I know that they may be getting a personal call at work and I accommodate them because that is the right thing to do. Not make snide sighs and lie and say they are unavailable. read more

It matters not that it is a good store, if when you are in line to pay that the service is so slow and uninterested in the line of customers that is growing longer and more impatient due to a customer holding up the line with a return that the checkout lady does not seem to know how to process, or call for help to clear the growing line of customers. Cost Plus is one of the best stores in Concord for variety of merchandise and customer service. Yesterday I returned to Cost Plus for their divine nyakers ginger snaps. Unable to locate them in the store, Jeff came to my rescue and helped me hunt them down. What a terrific employee. Wanted to give him a big hug for his genuine interest in finding them for me. Seriously? Only 4.5 stars? Lol, no really, this Cost Plus really does deserve 5 stars - all the way. My wife and I just picked up some of our brand new furniture for our living room here today. The thing is, we noticed this furniture was on sale at the Cost Plus in Tracy, but we weren't able to get it there because they were out of stock. So, a few days later we came here because the Tracy people said this location had it in stock. To our dismay however, the furniture was not on sale like it was in Tracy. No problem! One of the employees called the Tracy store and told us they would be able to match the sale price. Completely awesome. Not to mention all the employees were super helpful in helping us find everything we needed. They certainly run a very tight ship here, and I highly recommend coming here for a stellar shopping experience. read more

I was very disappointed in my last visit to Cost Plus. I had not been in quite a few years but recieved an email from their company sharing that Torani syrups were on sale for 2 days only. I excitedly went into Cost Plus to specifically purchase Torani syrups on the day the email stated the sale was happening. Yet, no employee had heard about the sale and even after showing the store employees the email their company had sent me, the employee refused to give me the sale price, which again the email had stated. I was very frustrated I had driven across town and was VERY disappointed in the POOR and DISRESPECTFUL customer service I recieved. I love this store and all of their unique items, however I will not be returning to due IMPROPER and FALSE advertising. read more

The workers here are very friendly. The place is pretty organized, and the bathrooms are clean. They have a variety of wines, tea, chocolates, furniture, dishware, and stuff from different parts of the world. They have many paintings, photos, and cards. When major American holidays are around, the holiday stuff is usually at the front, being fully advertised (which is smart). read more

This Cost Plus World Market store is one of the best I have seen. It's layout makes it easy to shop at. The pick up area is convenient too. Parking is never a real problem. The company does a great job sourcing, and is in tune with what the customer wants.The best thing about the store though is the customer service. I was helped by four people who were very patient, and shared their ideas and suggestions. Some of the items weren't available, and they were happy to give me a rain check and followed up when the items all became available. In particular, was really happy with SUE, who works the register and is very good at greeting the customer. She has worked there for years. KATHY and ANN both helped tremendously, gave their opinions and offered suggestions. BUBBA (don't think that's his real name), was very helpful in getting everything out to my car. Since my original shopping spree, I have been back, and loved the warmth and the way they treat every customer. Love this store!!! read more

Our highest praises go out to the Cost Plus-World Market store in Concord! The staff and manager there are fabulous! From the minute you enter the door you are welcomed with a warm smile and a friendly greeting from a staff member close by, or from the manager herself who is a sheer delight, The manager Jeannette is the best thing that has happened to this store in years! We have been coming to this store for over 8 years now, but it wasn't until Jeannette took over the reins at this store that it really became the gem that it is today. She has hired the friendliest and most helpful staff around. We do a lot of shopping at bay area stores, but our "go to" store has become the Cost Plus store in Concord because of the wonderful manager and incredible staff there. As we stroll through the different sections of the store we are always being asked if we need any help finding anything and if we do need help the staff member will happily walk you right over to the item you are looking for and will ask if you need any additional assistance with that item or any other. Because of the amazing service, attention, and friendly staff at this store we shop here nearly every weekend, sometimes twice in a weekend! We have given this store a lot of our business since Jeannette has taken over as the manager and that is because the store is now so well run and again everyone on the staff is so friendly, kind and helpful and we just don;t find that in any other stores around here. When we bought a comfy chair and fabulous medal cabinet there earlier this year we ran into troubles getting a vehicle to pick up the items and deliver them to our house, but the manager went above and beyond anything we had ever expected when she went to great lengths (and personal sacrifice on her part) to get the items to us within a couple of days; that's just unheard of these days! Yes, she is a jewel and we hope that she and her amazing staff of super-friendly and awesomely helpful people will all be there for many years to come. This store will continue to be our favorite and our first stop on any shopping outing as long as Jeannette and her incredible staff are there! We really appreciate the kindness and caring that this wonderful staff shows us and all customers who walk through their doors! read more
