After hearing about it for ages, finally made it to Wright's Tavern! Yes, reservations are annoying, but if you stay up until midnight before the first of the month and have multiple days and times in mind, it should be doable. The restaurant felt very upscale - service was extremely attentive and fantastic. We ordered the following and did a lot of sharing: shrimp cocktail, crab cake, Caesar salad, halibut, French dip, and steak frites. Everything was fantastic. My personal favorite was the crab cake - I've never gotten so much crab meat in one before and the sauce was incredible! Caesar salad was good too. The steak to fry ratio on the steak frites was a bit off (steak was fairly small) but I appreciated that they don't skimp on sides at all! The French dip was the most meat I've ever had in one. Sadly, we were not able to save room for dessert, but I cannot wait to go back! Worth every penny, absolutely.

What a special experience. I've been here twice now and each time has been wonderful. From the ambiance, service, food, drinks, and vibe, it was so wonderful and memorable. Here are some things I've tried: - wedge salad: best bacon I've ever had - Caesar salad: light but so flavorful. I keep thinking about it. - roasted chicken: really flavorful and moist, was so good with the spinach - steak frites- my favorite so far, I love a good steak. Tons of frites to accompany - the sundae- solid. 10/10. Iykyk. If you're lucky to snag a rezzy here, get it and enjoy. It's pricy but worth it!!

Another amazing night at Wright's Tavern. Got lucky and got a spot at the bar around 6:30. The hostess was so sweet and helpful! And Nick the bartender was amazing as well. The crab cakes are our new favorite and we will definitely be getting the cheesecake every time. Love the atmosphere here. My husband said it feels like a trendy spot in NYC. We love it here!!

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt elevated but still warm and inviting--classic, cozy, and perfect for a special night out in St. Louis. Tthe crab cake was one of the standout dishes of the night--packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and beautifully plated. Every dish felt thoughtful and high quality. The dauphinoise potatoes are a MUST! You can tell why reservations here are so hard to get--it's one of those places that truly delivers. And of course, we had to end with the hot fudge sundae, which was such a fun and nostalgic dessert experience with every topping you could want. Wright's Tavern is definitely worth the reservation and a spot I'd happily return to again.

Totally worth the money! We visited for our anniversary, and the oysters were some of the best I have ever had. The onions rings are also a must. I would skip the vodka rigatoni if you like your pasta al dente but everything else was wonderful!

Wrights Tavern definitely lives up to their hype. From the moment we walked in, the whole experience felt elevated but still warm and welcoming. The ambiance is classy without being stuffy. It's perfect for a girls' night, date night, or just treating yourself. Our server was AMAZING and handled our table so seamlessly, which made the experience even better. For food, I ordered the steak frites, and we also tried their tavern burger and the potato halibut, which we're all so flavorful and nicely plates. My favorite dish of the night: their mac and cheese. I recommend placing a reservation a month in advance. That and the size of the space were my only concerns. Other than that, I will definitely be back!

Glad I stopped in while in town for work great experience all around. The interior is small and curated, perfect for intimate dinners or a nice night out. I sat at the bar, started with an old fashioned that was superb, and the service matched the vibe perfectly. For the main I went with the halibut definitely one for the books. Would come back just for that alone. -Mr.

Need to plan and book early to be able to get reservations right at midnight as it goes really quickly. Drinks were boozy, I had the coffee manhattan and loved it! We tried sezerac and martini as well. Food we tried the shrimp scampi which was so flavorful that we could dip the bread in their sauce. Main course we had French dip with the house made horse radish ( amazing) and potato crusted halibut which was good but bland for me. I wish I had gone with the burger or steak or pasta instead. Service and ambience was good

So I hate that my first thought was, "this is in St Louis?" because I know that St Louis has an abundance of great restaurants that can compete with anything anywhere. Wright's Tavern had it all - "hard to get in"- cool vibe, impeccable setvice, great food and delish cocktails... worth the buzz

Recommend. Steak was amazing. So tender. Reservations can be hard to come by. There are four seats at the bar. Go early and wait in line if you want to ensure you get first dibs on the bar seats. On the Saturday I went, there were four people waiting prior to opening. The bartender and entire staff was great, respectful, polite, attentive. The bread and butter was so good. The butter had olive oil and spices with it. One of the best bread dishes I had. The crab cake was large and full of crab. Very flavorful. The Caesar salad was fresh and tasty. Not overdressed and each element well put together. The filet was amazing. Soooooo tender and seasoned well. The sauce was ok, I like having sauce but the taste was just ok for me. The steak was great, perfectly cooked and didn't need any sauce. The fries were good. The onion rings were very good. These are large sides. I wanted to try dessert but was full. They boxed our leftovers for us. A great meal. Recommend. The restaurant is small, tables seemed fairly close together. Street parking with a small lot on the side.

Great service and food!! Ambiance is perfect for a date. You'll need reservations but it's worth it. Cocktails were perfect, as well! Save room for dessert. We had swordfish, oysters, scallops, and cheesecake...all were fantastic!

Wow this place is delicious! A cute little spot you might miss it if you walk by too fast! Our server did a great job explaining the menu and off the menu options. The drinks were so strong we only needed one haha. And the foooood! First off, the bread was delicious. Secondly, the scallops were fabulous. Thirdly, I loved my potato crushed halibut and green beans. The sauce was *chef's kiss*. We were too full for dessert but we'll definitely go again :) It's a great spot for a date, celebration, or just a nice night out on the town!

WT is like finding a Diamond in the rough, WOW! Impeccable, knowledgeable and friendly service, intimate/quaint atmosphere, excellent freshly prepared foods, trendy spot, great cocktails and wine; but also know it's $$$$ pricey, loud and not easy to get a reservation (limited to 2 or 4 persons). Memorable experience, worth it for a special occasion or just a great nite out with friends! Overall, 4.75 rated for me, and expect to spend ~$100pp (or more) if getting a 3-course meal with apps, entrees, dessert plus drinks. Today we shared the Tavern Onion Rings and Crab-cake for starters. Full portion of freshly battered Rings with an Aioli dipping sauce and ketchup. The Crab-Cake was generous with Fresh Maryland Blue Crab served atop a special Remoulade sauce (slightly salty today). I actually enjoyed the Aioli dip sauce more with the Crab cake. And the Rings made a good shareable. Next time I'd like to try some Oysters or Shrimp Cocktail. For dinner, we ordered the Scallops Special entree, Steak Frites, an extra Crabcake and the French Dip Sandwich. Each dish was thoroughly enjoyed and tasty! And I can honestly say this was one of the BEST French Dip Roast Beef sandwiches I've ever eaten; generous portion, tender beef, havarti cheese on a warmly baked sesame roll with Au jus and creamy horseradish sauce ... oh and the fresh pommes frites fantastic too - YUM! Don't think you could go wrong with any menu item here. Lastly, we ordered the Creme Brûlée dessert (Bday gal's fave)! Prepared perfectly, it was so creamy and flavorful, with top sugar flamed to a golden brown. Enough to share for 2. Don't miss this if you are a Creme Brûlée aficionado! Finally, just to mention their handcrafted Old Fashioned drinks were excellent - coulda sipped these all night! Nice wine list as well. So if you enjoy splurging on a meal and are a Foodie like me, Wrights Tavern is a must try. ENJOY!!!

Can you just walk in and have dinner at the bar?

Clayton was busy, so street parking was hard to find. Once seated, we were greeted with friendly service and were brought water. I ordered a ginger beer with cranberry juice added to it for a refreshing mocktail. We ordered the Squeaky Cheese to start, the golden-brown cheese curds were gooey and had the perfect crunch. They were served with marinara and a serrano dill aioli. The aioli had just the right amount of spice, complementing the dill flavor. The marinara was saucy and also good. I ordered the Bacon Jam Burger with fries. The burger was juicy, sweet, and had a nice crunch. The bacon jam was subtle, but it enhanced the overall flavor. My only complaint was that the bottom bun came out a bit soggy causing the burger to lose structure as I ate it. The fries were thin and crunchy! I had a lovely experience and would like to come back to try a cocktail!

The space itself is very chic and modern. Our event was on a patio on an extremely hot and humid day. While the idea of the glass ceilings is nice to let in the natural light, it unfortunately made me feel like I was roasting in a greenhouse with the sun coming in - the fans didnt do much for air movement and unfortunately there was just no breeze that day so the open balcony didnt help! I also found the chairs to be very uncomfortable. They are deep and may be comfortable for a tall man, but for a women of average height, you cant sit back in the chair without your legs sticking out straight like a child so you have to sit forward on the edge of the seat and try not to slump. I ordered the Forest Park Fizz which was just ok. The charcuterie board was suffering from being in the heat so I cant fault them for that, but the beef filled pastries and the risotto balls were both pretty lame. I would come back to try a different drink and something else from the menu but definitely not on a super hot & humid day!

Nothing divey about a hip cocktail or hip deviled eggs -- these are sophisticated modern twists, the exact move wine bars make and dives don't. A chalkboard of specials and weathered seating gesture at the aesthetic; the rest of the room knows. Kendall Roy of restaurants -- comes from privilege, wants badly to be of the people. It's a bit, and mostly the kitchen and bar back it up. Nevertheless, we arrived to a full room, hour wait for a table, but we fortunately arrived to snag the last first come patio table. The bar was also full, by the way, which felt neighborhood like, people clearly like this place during happy hour. The old fashioned makes the case: Old Grand-Dad Bonded, pickled rye, cognac, butterscotch bitters. Two whiskeys and a bitter you won't find at an actual dive. Rich, a little sweet. The harissa deviled eggs keep going -- fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro, marinated tomato jam. You know, just like the old dive with the $1 PBR.Deviled eggs for people that don't like deviled eggs. However, we love deviled eggs...foreshadowing. The short ribs are the headline -- fall-apart tender over whipped potatoes substantial enough to stand up to the meat, gravy spot on. Eats like a perfectly executed roast dinner. The brie burger is the sneaky second hit, genuinely decadent, bacon with the cheese melting into the beef. The service was good and pleasant and that felt more like dive-friendly, where you might expect a wine "bar" to be snooty or full of themselves. 4.4 Stars Picking Nits: hip deviled eggs that reach past what they can hold. Tomato jelly on top is a lot going on, in the wrong way, and the egg disappears under it. These are trying to be hip deviled eggs more than they're trying to be good deviled eggs. Every ambitious kitchen has one plate that tries too hard; this appears to be one. A 5 needs those eggs landing, in the same way the entrees excelled. Regardless, we'll be back.
