Great experience, once again. We went on Father's Day and were seated within 5 minutes. Our server, Shanan, was super friendly. It was a very busy day and she still took the time to chat and make us comfortable. All of the things we ordered were delicious and fresh. Visiting Spring Texas and ended up here thanks to a family member who recommended it. Food was delicious and the menu was perfect not too overwhelming where you have to choose so many items. First of all downtown Spring was amazing. Parking was a little different but not too bad. The restaurant was amazing inside to include the rich history of the place. The waitress informed that part of the restaurant caught fire but the renovations were beautiful. We sat at a table but the bar looked amazing also. The staff were friendly and the restrooms were clean. Prior to the meal I ordered some bread and deviled eggs which were delicious. My main meal was as the pork chops. As always, great service and food! I haven't visited in over a year. Logan our waiter from Georgia was very attentive. I had the catfish dinner and the wunsche burger. The catfish was thick and tasty but seemed a little over fried and maybe not the freshest. Even though, I would order again. The Wunsche Burger was spot on ! First time eating here last week. We came in on a weeknight. Place wasn't very busy. Service was really good. We had some of the warm homemade bread with the honey butter. I think it's a must try. We tried the sausage sauerkraut balls and deviled eggs for appetizers. We really enjoyed them both but the eggs were my favorite. For dinner we had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with the thick cut fries, the double cut pork chop and the Wunsche plate (with au gratin potatoes, okra & tomatoes, and squash casserole). The potatoes and squash were divine. For dessert we tried the whisky cake bread pudding, which we thought was dry, but the buttermilk pecan pie was so yummy! Loved the food here overall. read more

I was glad to hear that Wunsche Bros. is back open after the fire that partially destroyed the restaurant a couple of years ago. Last Sunday I was in the area and stopped by for lunch. Parking is free and wherever you can find it. Inside the restaurant it looks similar to the old one with a new dining area on the right with a full bar and small stage and the other dining area on the left with its dark wood decor. What is different is that they added an outdoor patio in front on the first floor and the second floor stairway and floor is now open too. Up there are several dining rooms for small parties along with another full bar and upstairs outdoor patio. Very nice! I ordered the Wunsche Burger with fries for $14 and added a 1/2 order of beer bread for $3 as an appetizer. The bread arrived first and consisted of 4 thick slices with butter. Their beer bread is very good tasting and worth ordering. One tip is that a half order is more than enough for 2 people and would feed 4 people as the slices are thick and filling, The burger was solid in size and taste. It is a thick beef patty on a well dressed bun. Their french fries are actually like small potato wedges and I liked them. It was a very good burger meal and the table service was prompt. Wunsche Bros. is an Old Town Spring staple for dining. While there are other choices nearby this place is the OG and is always a good choice. I like the improvements made especially upstairs and with 2 outdoor patios. I always enjoy returning. read more

Everything we ordered came out lukewarm at best. Beer bread was okay, nothing special. The tops were pretty hard, and the middle was dense. Queso/chips queso was Lukewarm almost cold but had decent flavor with the smokey pulled pork in there We both got a burger, and I was so disappointed I barely had 3 bites. Sure glad this classic has been rebuilt and opened once again. The rebuild after the fire was done with painstaking care and the history of the building preserved. Not sure if it's part of their training or whether I had a particularly well versed waitress but her stories about the building and the derivation of the whiskey cake made our lunch particularly enjoyable. Let's face it, she was great waitress. Lunch too was delicious. My neighbor and friend dined on a club sandwich, a salad and Mac and cheese. The portions were far larger than she expected so she had the waitress box up her salad before touching it. Her Mac and cheese was comfort food personified and her sandwich disappeared without complaint. I had the house made sausage bbq extravaganza with the sauce on the side. It was excellent. It's Fall Y'all! Which means put on your rider boots, your most Boho Shabby-Chic top and your feathered hat and drink wine outdoors in Texas! My partner being from NYC he was interested in stopping by this saloon looking place for brunch in Old Town Spring. Especially since it was the first weekend where the weather was lovely, seeing that Wunsche Bros had an outside seating area, we both knew we needed to eat outside. Once we requested for a table for two, we were immediately escorted to the outdoor seating area which is exactly what we wanted to seat. Our server was Kara (Maybe Cara) and she was amazing, very informative and honest of her allergies once we asked for recommendation from their menu items. I settled with coffee and a water (later with their Home Cab Sav) and my partner with their blonde beer on their chilled beer mug after he saw someone else ordering it. We were hungry but wanted something a little lighter since we also had a dinner date later that day and after Kara informed us that the whole smoked chicken is great with the green beans that come with it, would be great for the hungry pair. I did also ordered a large order of butter bread (I should've ordered the small one and she DID try to warn me but my mind was hungrier than my stomach) and a a la carte mac n cheese. Coffee was great but the beer was soo good! I recommend it indeed but the smoked chicken, the green beans, and the mac n cheese left us wanting to come back for some more! Their food was amazing, we literally ate as much as we could but we needed to tap out, their prices are a little more than what I feel comfortable paying for brunch however their portions are a little bigger which make up for the price in my opinion. Kara was nice enough to provide us with a doggie bag for my pup Daisy waiting for the yummy left overs at home. By the time it was dessert time, we were stuffed but my partner really wanted to try their Key Lime Pie and ordered it to go, while we were bagging our food Kara did stay with us to explain the history of this antique landmark. Wunsche saloon and Cafe has been opened since 1902 and how it became a Cafe after the Prohibition era. It was very insightful and I appreciated the knowledge from Kara of the cafe. The pork chop was thick, but a little skinnier than I had imagined (blame that on Perrys), and the bean and rice were awesome!! They had a wonderful smoky flavoring with small bits of sausage. The fried green tomatoes came out hot enough to burn your mouth and the fried pickles were the best I've had in a long time.
