Wife and I went around 7pm on Thursday afternoon, everyone was very friendly and our waitress SiSi was good checked on us refilled our drinks and was friendly. The food was delicious, we started out with fried green tomatoes they were delicious and the tomato dipping sauce was a nice touch, last time I had the rotisserie chicken almost a year ago it was dry, this time it was delicious nice smoked flavor and juicy, we ordered the fried chicken finger baskets they were excellent and the French fries were very good. The restrooms were nice clean and stocked but the Jack and Jill setup is still very odd to me. I wouldn't let my kids under 15 go to the restroom unless I was accompanying them. read more

I had an amazing time at this "haunted" holiday holla-ba-loo last night! Brittany and Macey made another successful run at giving us an adventure, they never disappoint. The check in was simple, second floor, grab a badge, grab a wine, meet your fellow Elites and get ready for a time. The food was good, the story intriguing and the party, well Yelp elites know how to get down. Jason did a great job giving the historical significance of Wunsche Bros cafe and kept us thoroughly entertained. The Old town Spring historic society kept us intrigued with fun facts about how the town came to be. Appetizers were sausage and sauerkraut meatballs, egg rolls and potato skins and we were surprised by riblets and whiskey cake. Beautiful place with so much significance in the historic sense and the menu was mouthwatering. We ended the night upstairs with a fab Dj and even better bartenders and B didn't let us down (she never does) with swag for showing up and showing out. Wow! Shanon was a great server! She helped me decide between the pulled pork sandwich and the pulled pork plate. I went with the plate and it was delicious! We loved Wunche Bros so much when we visited that we went twice in 2 days. This is one of the oldest buildings in the area. It's a saloon type feel with the original wooden floors from when it was built. Evening 1 we joined our TX family and enjoyed the beer bread and honey butter, fried pickles, the chicken fried steak. That bread is so dang good. Buttery and a little sweet. The pickles are lightly fried and served with very good ranch. The chicken fried steak was great. Gravy was thick and seasoned well and the steak was a thicker cut than you'd usually see in a chicken fried steak. Our server was attentive and I regret not getting her name. Day 2 was a late lunch and happens to be Pork Chop Weds! $19.99 double cut smoked pork chop, say less! I split this with my sister and can't say enough about how juicy this chop was. It's burned down 3 times and is supposedly haunted. While a little touristy, the service was great and the food hits the spot. Yours truly had a 1902 Summer beer; a light, refreshing and fruity ale paired with a grilled ribeye steak sandwich. The sandwich was huge and overflowing with freshly grilled steak. We came on a weekday so the place was relatively quiet. Service was great. Cory was attentive and not overbearing. We had a house salad and shared a burger. I'm not a fan of spring mix lettuce, but the salad was plentiful and included other vegetables besides the spring mix. The burger was large and we added the egg on top, which made it perfect. Always a good choice for bar food. Maybe next time we will try a real entry because there is more to choose than just bar cuisine. Worth a visit to the oldest building in Old Spring, Texas. I was super impressed with the service considering our size. I will note, they refuse to split the check more than 5 ways, so don't come with more than 5 friends haha. I got the chicken fried chicken, it was very good! The chicken was good, the gravy was good too. Definitely southern comfort food. Atmosphere was very nice. Not only was the restaurant beautiful and very spacious, they were showing a movie from a projector in the center of the main floor! He allowed us time to look through the menu and was there when we needed him. We started itoff with the beer bread. I got a full order for three of us and it was a lot of bread for three of us. I would suggest half an order if there's less than three in your party. The bread was soft and delicious. It came with honey butter. I enjoyed the cocktail of the month, Tipsy Tulip. For my meal, I had the seared ahi tuna on a bed of roasted vegetables. The tuna was cooked perfectly. The vegetables were savory. my family got the chicken dumpling dish and the mushroom soup. My wife and I were stuck in Houston for the weekend!!! I saw this place on Tictok and they raved about the smoked pork chops. Man!!!!! These are the absolute best pork chops I've ever had! It's not just about the food here.... It's the history and the people. The service was very friendly and welcoming. My server gave us a detailed history run down and was at our beck and call. This is a very special place. Spring Texas neighborhood here has little shops for you to walk and enjoy right from this little gem. I highly recommend to anyone that wants good home cooking and hospitality. Ooooh btw... the sides are amazing too!!!!! Customer service has always been excellent! The waiters and waitresses are super friendly and love telling the history of the place. You can tour the upper floor to see the furniture, and pictures of those who lived there. You can also sit at the huge bar and enjoy the "atmosphere"! You are never alone! lol! The food is simple but delicious and the live music downstairs is always fun and upbeat! The restroom has a unique layout and the pictures on the walls very interesting! Our waitress, Shanon, was really attentive and told us all about the haunted brothel. They have an eclectic selection of draft beers. I ordered a Texas lager which was very tasty. We took our son to get a nearby haircut and it ended up being the ideal spot to stop after that. We ordered the beer bread and fried pickles for appetizers. Both were good. Not great, not bad aka 4-stars. The beer bread is definitely filling, so we wished we had just gotten a half-order instead of a full. Each piece of bread is surprisingly heavy. I ordered the Wunsche Burger and my wife ordered the chicken fried steak. We both agreed that hers was a bit bland and could have used some more salt. My burger was fine. I didn't realize ketchup didn't come on it, so I ended up having to add it on myself. The default is mayo or mustard, apparently, but that came on the side. I'd say both were probably 3-stars. So we're probably at more of a 3.5-star rating for the food, but I am rounding up because: -Our service was excellent. -And it's pretty cool that this building has been around since 1902. And it was absolutely spotless in here. They did an excellent job to modernize the design, without being obnoxious about it. read more

Prior to tonight, my family and I have dined many times at Wunsche Bros, since their reopening and we've had no issues. Tonight was very disappointing. The hostess immediately seated us upon our arrival. While we waited to be greeted by wait staff, I responded to an email, and noted the time as 6:49p. We continued to wait, yet to be acknowledged or have a drink order taken, although wait staff was standing at the drink station, conversing, and others repeatedly walked past us. At 7:00p, we left and the hostess thanked us for coming, seemingly not realizing she just sat us approximately 10 minutes prior. I stopped and advised her we were leaving because we had yet to be addressed by wait staff. She did not apologize or attempt to have us waited on, yet merely watched us walk out. In the car, I phoned for a manager (not sure if he was or not) and I recounted the visit. He only stated, "I do apologize for that and I will address it." Being that I too am in a service related industry, I would think the proper thing for staff to have done would have been to ask a customer to return, and offer to rectify the issue(s). That did not happen in tonight, and a $100+ tab walked out the door. We won't be back in a while. Very very disappointed in this experience.
