I visited on a very humid and hot Sunday night. There was a line, but it wasn't too long and only took about 5-10 minutes. There's plenty of street parking, along with an additional dirt lot across the street. I've been here multiple times, and Wynston's has pretty good ice cream, decent service, and humongous portions! Some favorites of ours are the Cookies In Cream and the Biscoff Latte. The Mint Chocolate Chunk came with a bunch of chocolate chunks, which is a plus for chocolate lovers! The Biscoff Latte had an overpowering coffee flavor, and we couldn't taste much of the Biscoff. My only gripe is that they don't ask for your name for your order and instead opt to write the flavors on the bottom of the cups. They call out the flavors, but sometimes forget when it's busy. This leads to strangers picking up random cups to check for flavors and sometimes mistakenly taking other people's orders. read more

My husband and I stopped by Wynston's at Merge 56 in Torrey Highlands and tried two completely different flavors, and both were excellent. My husband got their Blue Moon in a waffle cone, which is one of their staple flavors. It's sort of cotton candy-ish while still being really creamy, without crossing into obnoxiously sweet territory. The waffle cone was SO good too. It basically tastes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in waffle cone form, which paired surprisingly well with the Blue Moon. I got the Brazilian Truffle in a cup, which is one of their rotating flavors, so apparently I picked a good day to show up! It's decadent without being overwhelmingly rich, with incredibly smooth chocolate ice cream and large chunks of truffle throughout. I especially liked that the chocolate base complemented the truffle instead of overpowering it. They regularly bring in new and rotating flavors alongside staples like Blue Moon, so there's actually a reason to come back and see what's new instead of ordering the same thing every time. There is only outdoor seating with a few tables and chairs it's clean and it's in an actual neighborhood so many people walking their doggos. The portions are generous too, it was manned by one very respectable and kind young lady who offered us samples and a pup cup for our little doggie girl. Easy 5/5 stars for us. Blue Moon was fun, Brazilian Truffle was rich and decadent, and that Cinnamon Toast Crunch-esque waffle cone deserves some recognition of its own. Creamy delicious ice cream I've been wanting to check out this ice cream shop located in a newer neighborhood just south of the 56 hwy & Camino del Sur. So, I went on a Monday night as when I attempted to go over the weekend it was way too packed. There was one young girl working but as it wasn't too crowded..thank goodness! She was friendly and provided good fast service. The shop has a walk up window to order and outdoor seating. I got the "Lot A Bit" (2 scoops in a cup) of Bourbon Vanilla Bean Truffle and I'm Your Huckleberry. Some of the flavors that I would've preferred were sold out (probably due to the hot weather over the weekend). The ice cream was creamy, the flavors tasted as described and decent scoop size. ***my only complaint is that there were too many items that were sold out & not replenished including the waffle cones (which I prefer to a cup). read more

Wynston's might just have the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had. It genuinely felt like I was eating pieces of a quality chocolate bar. Also, the Perfect PBC is perfect for someone who loves Reese's peanut butter cups. The flavor is pretty much one to one with that. The texture of the ice creams is thick but pleasantly smooth. The outdoor seating provides a nice place to hang out and eat ice cream after a long, hot summer's day. Alright, so the last visit brought tears of joy. Today, my 2nd visit, made me wanna give bear hugs (and I'm not even a hugger). I've been craving Wynston's since my last visit so I've been saving my calories today in order to reward myself with their big a** scoop of home made ice cream. The flavors are still the same (according to the website) but I wasn't sure if it updates on sold out flavors. I tried to call to ask but no one picked up. But hey, it's a Sunday and the owner picked up call last time and everyone deserves a day off. I decided to chance it and just go - hoping they still have the Mississippi mud pie . They didn't have the Peppermint mocha but thankfully the Mississippi was available (a few other flavors were sold out , see pic i took of menu for this Sunday). Christian was the young staff working today and he was reason #1 for the hug. He was busy making other orders and was so apologetic when he finally got to me. He gave me a sample of the Mississippi and even asked if there was enough fudge swirl in my sample (told ya - maybe hug #2). I again ordered the regular scoop (Perfect Bit $6.75) and with tax the total was $7.27. The scoop was eye opening generous and ample (are we on hug #3). I could see the firm pecans (covered with the ice cream and fudge), the chunks of oreos, and how the ice cream was the perfect texture (not too hard and just the perfect creaminess that lets you start eating asap). The combination of the textures was just as consistent as last time which seems to be a rare thing these days at ice creams shops. I can't get over the size of the scoop (i did a collage of the scoops from Wynstons, Salt & Straw, and Baskins). Wynston's takes down these Goliaths with ease. (See pic) The only thing I'm still unsure about is the loyalty rewards as I've visited twice now and don't see the purchases on my history (even though I entered my phone # to check in) . So maybe it's a glitche? Regardless, Christian and the scoop of Mississippi mud pie just legit made my Sunday afternoon (while sharing the scoop with friends while watching NFL!). read more

I ordered a "Lot a Bit" (2 scoops) with Circus Cookies and Maybe Better Than the Wookies. When I got to my car, I realized the Circus Cookies was missing, so I went back inside. The employee was very nice and apologized, but I later realized she had thrown away my original cup and only gave me a single scoop of Circus Cookies instead of adding it to what I already had. So in the end, I paid for 2 scoops but only received 1. I also noticed a similar mix-up happen with another customer while I was there. Hopefully it was just a training issue. Update as of 6/17: The owner initially reached out over a week ago, saying they wanted to make things right and offering a gift card, but I haven't received any follow-up since. This Wynston's Ice Cream location is inside Merge 56, a new development in Torrey Highlands. There was only one worker inside, and he was pretty quick and helpful. I like how there are flavors that are always on the menu, as well as monthly seasonal flavors and dairy-free options. It really allows anyone to be able to get something they want. Also, there is a huge variety of sizes such as "lot a bit" which is two medium scoops for $10, "perfect bit" which is one scoop for $7.25, and even "teeny bit" which is one tiny scoop for $3.50. We were deciding between there's a turtle in my brownie ( brownie batter ice cream with fudge brownie chunks, roasted walnuts, and a caramel swirl), defying gravity (matcha and strawberry ice cream swirled), and s'mores 2.0 (roasted marshmallow with graham cracker base). In the end, we ended up getting a split lot a bit size ($10.50 to have 1 scoop of there's a turtle in my brownie and 1 scoop of s'mores 2.0). The size was huge, and we definitely had more than enough of our fill of ice cream. The only downside was that there is only outdoor seating, so there were quite a few flies as we were trying to enjoy our ice cream. I like that they offer small-size cups, and the staff working there were so nice. We got our orders really quickly, too. Staff were very friendly, and ended up ordering a split scoop for about $7 or so of the corn latte (good, but more on the coffee side) and the Fade to Black (a very good and different black sesame). Enjoyed both flavors with the consistency and flavoring and it was a pretty big scoop for being half scoops. My family attended the grand opening and enjoyed their premium small batch ice cream. Super creamy, high quality! We tried the Old Reliable (delicious vanilla), FTW Chocolate, Cookies in Cream, and Mint Chocolate Chunk (no artificial coloring with large chunks of delectable chocolate). It is located within a peaceful relatively new townhome mixed use complex. Seating is exclusively outdoors in a serene setting. Service was very friendly! The kid scoop is tiny in comparison to the single scoop. The single scoop is HUGE. With the way the ice cream is served, it can be hard for kids to eat without making a mess, even in a cup. It gets melty (cuz it is ice cream) but it is thick quality ice cream so sort of sloshes around in its tiny container as they try to spoon it out. Laundry will be done to get out the melted ice cream! A bit ended up on all of us somehow Parking was easy on a Saturday afternoon outside the store. read more

While visiting relatives who live walking distance from the cutesy shops/businesses on Merge Ave, I decided to check out this Wynston's location. The shop is set up as a window you order from with a nearby seating area to stop and chow down. The menu featured a variety of flavors including a few vegan options! I was in between a couple of flavors as everything sounded delectable, and the staff was so sweet to offer samples to help me in making a decision. The vegan coconut ube had a really nice, subtle ube flavor and I also really enjoyed the salty swirls flavor. I ended up going with the vegan coconut cake batter, which was light and the perfect sweetness for me. If I lived in this community, passing by Wynston's Ice Cream would be an incentive to go on more walks! read more

Been meaning to try Wynton's other location, so I'm glad this one opened closer to me. Small walk-up window on the frontage road of a new development, with covered outdoor tables. Came toward the end of the night, and quite a few flavors had already sold out. There are lots of choices regardless. The staff were friendly and helpful when asking about different flavors. The scoop sizes are generous and taste great, but some of the mix-ins were too big for my preference. Overall, a good experience and would come again to try the seasonal flavors. read more

The location seems to be part of a new townhome rental complex. There are a few other business spread out like a pilates studio, and barber shop. A little off the beaten path to get to be easily accessible from I-56. There is just a window to order the ice cream and few outdoor tables that are covered/shaded. I ordered a tiny bit of a scoop and when I tasted the ice cream I realized they gave me the wrong flavor. They fixed me up with a new scoop right away, their bins were miss-labeled. So I got to try two flavors, both were flavors of the month. I liked the "Hey You Guys" better than the "Van Halen" one. It is on par with Salt & Straw having interesting combination as well as price point. My go to is Handel's Ice Cream or Golden Spoon. Those still remain top dogs in my book. read more

Her lovely words I am sure looked very good for a bad review but the reality is there was no desire to 'make it right'. I want to add that I never leave reviews on any rating platform but this was different the staff that are so 'carefully trained' when reading the list of ingredients did not even know wheat was not gluten free.
