I came with my friend to this place to get a medi and pedi. The spa treatment was wonderful , we chose number 3. The nail tech cut my cuticles with the roller and ripped my skin. She then proceeded to wipe my blood with her thumb which is unsanitary and gross. I didn't want to make a scene because there were kids with their parents there. The nail tech apologized but didn't even off a discount for my injury and her recklessness. I had to ask for a discount to the manicurist who painted my nails and thank god that she was nice enough to give me one. Thank you for the service and discount. I have been getting my nails done here every few weeks for almost a year now. My fiancé has been a loyal customer for nearly 10 years as well. I thought I had finally found a nail salon that I loved enough to call my go-to since moving to the Sacramento area ...until this weekend. My fiancé tried to make us appointments via text like she usually does and was told that because of a simple innocent typo she made last month the girl who usually does my nails was no longer comfortable doing them any longer. What was the typo you might ask? The word 'have' auto corrected to 'face'. She meant to say 'Does Polly have time for my fiancé?' But instead it autocorrected to 'Does Polly face time for my fiancé?' This and this alone is the reason why when my fiancé tried to make us appointments yesterday she was told that Polly no longer felt comfortable doing my nails. We were both shocked. We have been fantastic customers and always tip well. A few months ago my fiancé and I openly came out to the girls in the salon. So we cannot help but feel that this response is due to homophobia. I cannot image Polly having the same reaction to a simple typo that way if we were straight women. I have to admit that this is incredibly disheartening. This is my fiancé's first relationship with a woman and her first Instance of direct discrimination due to being gay. My heart breaks for her. It kills me to see her so upset over it. Needless to say we will never frequent this establishment again. And if you are a part of the LGBTQIA community or an ally I encourage you to take your business elsewhere as well. I just wanted a basic pedi. Service was quick. They didn't let my feet soak. The exfoliate was a quick rub . The oil was a quick rub as well. Not even a massage. Got my nails cut. Quick while with lotion and hot towel and that was it. Finish in about 15 mins. Was my toe nail cut? yeah, Was my foot scrub? Yeah but not what I was use to Was my calve oil, lotion and hot towel? I asked for a removal & gel manicure. She pretty much tore off the acrylic nails during the removal which damaged my natural nails even more. And the 2 acrylics that she had to add onto my broken nails didn't even blend with my other nails. They were shorter than the others and way too thick. Another person tried to fix it but it barely helped. I had to try to fix them at home myself. My gel is even already chipping 30min later. The massage wasn't even a massage! I have been coming to this salon for many years. I have been busy with wedding planning and had stopped coming in the last 6 months. I came back yesterday and found out it's under new management. They redesigned the place as well. It looks really nice. I actually like the new design then the old one. I truly missed Jack and Lana but I'm happy for them as they now can enjoy their time together and their retirement. I had a manicure with powder dip and a deluxe pedicure. First time coming here this past Saturday and it will definitely be my last! Came here for dip, I had dip on previously and typically to remove the old dip the technicians would file the old dip down and then soak with acetone to remove the rest...well this technician did not. She tried ripping the old dip off my nail and in turn ripped my natural nail tip off. Hurt like hell. Then she did the new dip so thin that one nail broke the same day and then another nail cracked right down the middle. I came back to get the 2 nails fixed and the nail that broke needed to have a tip put on because my natural nail tip broke off as well. When the technician was trimming down the broken nail she completely cut my skin under my nail and didn't say anything. Again, hurt like hell. She slapped a tip on and did the dip as quickly as she could. As I was walking out, she said she won't charge me this time but next time she might. Horrible customer service and an unfriendly technician. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone. The salon was also very dirty! Terrible. I had a manicure full set done by Nikki (name in the machine she was using) yesterday and it was the worst I've ever had. When she began working on my nails not once did she ask what I wanted (ombré coffin nails) but instead went through the full process right before painting before she asked and it was at that time she gave me the basket of colors to very quickly sift through. My cuticles were cut badly to were 4 of my fingers were bleeding. She didn't clean or cut my nails before applying the fake tips. The tools and everything were previously used and nothing was brand new. These are not the same standards of the same shop I once used to visit. My "coffin" nails are the worst I've ever had. None of the tips are the same and look like she doesn't know what she was doing. read more

I scheduled an appt with this establishment for my nails to have a simple donut design because my regular nail tech is out of town. And I really needed them done for my daughters 1st birthday party. The design I wanted was a pink base with different colored sprinkles. I had a picture for reference because I wanted something fairly specific for one nail in particular. So, considering the simplicity of the design and the high rating of the nail salon, I was hopeful. But that hope didn't last that long. When I sat down, I was immediately helped by one young lady (unsure of her name) but after removing the top gel coat of my prev dip nail set on one nail, another woman came forward and finished my nails. Hmmm where to begin... i asked for a semi coffin shape with a little bit trimmed off of the top. For one, she cut too much off of the length (but I will get over that). But secondly and most importantly, none of my nails have resemblance to the coffin shape and a few of them aren't even straight. I wasn't sure if she was going to try and straighten it out after filing down my nails, so I left it alone. But before applying dip, I asked her to straighten the few nails I were concerned about. She attempted to straighten them, I looked, was not happy and then asked her to attempt to straighten It again. After she was done with what she thought was a straight nail, she said I am trying to make sure the nail shape goes along with your natural finger shape. I'm confused, what does that have to do with a straight nail. I have been getting my nails done a long time and always have ended with straight nails. Now onto the dip application. She started off well... the base dip was applied beautifully and so did the first two or three layers of pink dip. However upon evening out the dip with the electric file (unsure of the name of the tool), she seemed to either mess up the top layer of pink or something, i really don't know what happened. But she started to reapply the base liquid to little sections of a couple of nails and re-dipping them. This made the layering of the dip appear uneven and bumpy. Not a problem though right, because she could even It out with the electric file. Wrong! She once again messed up and reapplied liquid and dip. At this point I have been here for over an hour and a half and had another appointment to get to. So I knew I wasn't going to be able to get the sprinkles. But I gave a warning and asked her if she could be done by a certain time so I could leave. She said yes, so I let her go on. But she didn't. She started the sprinkles too close to the time I needed to leave and the few she did start didn't look so good. So I asked her to remove them and was ready to leave. I can't forget the part where a few of her colleagues were watching/hovering over her do my nails, which was unsettling but no one stepped in to rectify the situation. That was the end of the bad part. She tried to make up by giving me a hand massage but as much as I hate to say It, It didn't make me feel any better about the fact my nails were crooked, I didn't have any sprinkles on them, and they are thicker than I would like. *sigh* Unfortunately this establishment won't be getting my business again and I hope that they get It together because I am one unhappy customer read more

I went in Friday night , it was my first time at this place and looking somewhere closer to my house. I got there for pedicure and was seated right away. The lady that helped me didn't of course tell her name and I didn't even bother to ask, cause I was already irritated when I was treated like "first costumer" nobody is friendly at this place. Anyway.....ending up getting dip powder as well and....she keep hurting me!! She keep telling me to relax, it's easier for her to say! It wasn't easy to relax when she keep hurting my fingers where the cuticles at. Ending up bleeding on one finger. I was there for 2 1/2 hours, I don't know if she knows how to do nails. Two huge issues: quality and "inconsistent" pricing. (1) Quality: I got my nails done here beautifully every two weeks for about 2 years before the pandemic, but every single manicure I've gotten since has been SEVERELY defective. My nails are never capped at the ends anymore, so they chip instantly and horrifically. Gel manicures have to be capped (i.e. painted at the ends/edges of the nail at an angle). Chipping within 2 days of getting a gel manicure while simply running my fingers through my conditioned wet hair is unreal. Tellingly, I got my nails done at another salon while I was on vacation, and the otherwise lovely nail tech I worked with a few times here at X-Nails was legitimately surprised at how good my nails from the other salon looked after 5 weeks, and was truly shocked that my nails from there hadn't chipped-- her surprise was surprising to me because I've NEVER had gel nails chip before my last few visits to X-Nails (even my old X-Nails manis never chipped before). (2) "Inconsistent" pricing: The other huge issue I have now that I never once had before 2022 is that the pricing is somehow very inconsistent, as another Yelp reviewer also experienced. I get the exact same manicure every two weeks, but I get charged a variety of different prices and I've seen some hesitation before telling me the price. Also, there are signs everywhere that say "automatic 2% discount if you pay in cash" but it hasn't once been honored when I've tried to take them up on it. I hate to do it after so many years of love and loyalty, but I am starting to think I really can't come here anymore. read more

I have been a client for xnails for several years since before they were under the new management with Jenna. Over the years I have put up with Jenna's bad attitude because they are conveniently located near my home and practice relatively clean habits. I get my nails done by Jenna typically and my fiancé gets her nails done by Polly. I communicate with Jenna via text message and unfortunately one day back in May of 2022 my phone auto corrected the word "have" to "face" so it looked like I was asking if Polly face time called my fiancé I guess. Super random typo that I didn't even realize I had made until Jenna asked me about it during my appointment with her to which I clarified what I was trying to say and never heard another word about it. I just tried making an appointment with Polly for my fiancé via text with Jenna and she informed me that Polly was busy and then fessed up and said Polly is no longer comfortable working with you or your fiancé because of the typo that I already clarified from may. It was the most bizarre moment of my life. It's also my first direct encounter with a outwardly homophobic individual- so I was completely taken back. I would urge anyone who cares about basic human rights to find another nail salon to give their business to, since they have now shown their true colors and they are not pretty. Wow. The best service I had!! I called in for 6 people to get pedicures and nails done. I called a month ago to make an appointment. I am getting married so I bought in my bridal party to get our nails done. Since I called a month ago, I wanted to confirm our appointment so I called yesterday just to make sure they didn't forget about it. Yeah, I was today's desperate lady with broken, poorly done, less-than-two-weeks-old nails trying to squeeze in without an appointment. Luckily for me, Miley at X-nails was able to take me back fairly quickly without affecting any other clientele. In the last month, I've been to 2 other highly rated/recommended nail salons, but was turned off by them for varying reasons. In all fairness, being a licensed cosmetologist who started as a nail technician and a perfectionist, I do have extremely high standards. I had been to X-Nails several times for pedicures, so decided to ask them to give my nails a go. I could not be more pleased! Miley did such a fantastic job! The shape, from all angles, is extremely well done...perfect arches and a natural look and feel. Also, not overly thick or thin. Having my hands frequently in water, I am at high risk for lifting. Took my teen daughter here recently and was pleasantly surprised. They accommodated her as a walk-in at 4:00 on a Sunday, and were professional, polite, and my daughter had to wait only a few minutes to get started. Many other customers were there as well; seems like they have a pretty good clientele. The salon was nicely ventilated--in many places I feel suffocated with the chemical smell but it was not overwhelming at all. There was a TV with music videos playing, and a decent waiting area. The technician did a nice job on the gel tips. My daughter is introverted and soft-spoken, but the technician listened to what my daughter wanted and was sweet and tried to engage her in a little conversation during the 45 minutes, but didn't push it. It's been over a week and her nails still look nice. She will usually have picked them off by now once they start lifting, or will accidentally break a few with normal activity, but these nails still look freshly done. She is very picky and rather judgmental about nail salons but said she definitely wants to go back to X Nails when she needs a fill or wants a new set. read more

This salon is no longer owned by Jack and Lana. They switched ownership about 3 weeks ago and retired. I made an appointment for today and when I walked in I realized everything had changed and that's when they told me that it wasn't the same X-Nails. I wish they would have told me that when I called last week to make an appointment. Jack and Lana always made everyone feel welcome and knew everyone by name and exactly what you wanted because they made notes when they took the appointment on the phone. I walked into the new salon today and they had no idea I had an appointment or what I wanted. I had to explain a few times. The woman who did my nails was nice but she "fixed" two nails and the difference between her work and Jack's work is very apparent. The two she did look wide and thick. I wanted a pedicure as well and that process was meh. For $35 I got a fast gel pedicure with lumpy polish and a chunk cut off of my toe. The woman was apologetic but it looks so gross! I gave 1 star for each of the women I dealt with today (2 women, 2 stars) but this place is NOT the same. What a shame. I'll definitely be looking elsewhere. I was REALLY hoping for the best at this salon. I had my picture ready to show my nail-tech and have her do exactly what I wanted from the picture. This lady greets me, after all the women appearing annoyed that I walked in at exactly 3pm telling them I had a 3pm appointment. (I guess Someone didn't do their job by writing down my appointment time when I called 2 days prior to set it up, which isn't my fault). As she sets me up for my pedi, I could already tell she was exhausted. She zoomed through my pedicure; the fastest I've ever had done.
