The Espresso Martinez (espresso martini) was absolutely delicious -- it was relatively strong, but you could easily taste the coffee and horchata, topped off with chocolate shavings, I think. The Mollete al Gusto was even more delicious, although I would prefer a lot more spice (but that's just me). I don't know if this place is always 5 stars but the last time I was there for dinner it was exceptional. I get coffee here pretty often as well as an occasional breakfast and it is pretty consistent at 4 stars. They get good quality mexican coffee roasts and have some unique things like chapulines (roasted grasshoppers, get them on your mollete or chilaquiles) and dried scorpions (served with mescal). Yet the dinner I had was phenomenal. I had the rabbit prepared with these tiny chopped super flavourful mushrooms, onion and herbs in a corn husk grilled or braised over flame. Think of pulled pork but rabbit and slightly charred. Fantastic. I also got the nopales crudo. Perfectly and uniquely prepared with I think beet and prickly pear like substance. Awesome. I've had drinks in the back bar a few times and Tony always comes through from my vague descriptions of what I'm feeling. He is always super on point with his recommendations and has an interesting foodie take on things. There are sotols, mescals and super regional mexican liquors. This time he poored me a neat serving of a sotol that gets finished in an oak barrel and rattlesnake meat with a side of what looked like dried blood orange slices and a scorpion. Super cool. Everything for that dinner was just perfect. I felt like I was on a different planet experiencing brand new textures and flavors. Where else in Dallas are you going to get sotol, scorpion, rabbit and rattlesnake all in one meal? If there is another place, it's not doing it this well. Plus the atmosphere of the Ayahuasca Cantina is chill with their jungle psychedelic vibes. read more

I LOVE this place. Wow. Such a bangin spot to go to when you're feeling cool and want some good food. It's the most authentic Mexican food I've tried in the area. My boyfriend loved the chicharrón and I really enjoyed the daily tacos. I highly recommend getting the flautas to start!! The service was top notch and the waiters spoke Spanish so it made it that much better!! My cocktail was amazing and the food was delicious. The most perfect café de olla around! While it runs as much as pricier lattes around Dallas it's well worth it (especially if you aren't able to make it back to abuelas for the real deal these days). The Xaman horchata is another great option- the horchata is the perfect amount of light sweetness. We arrived at 1:47pm, Staff was unwelcoming from the moment my husband and I stepped in "Sit anywhere" were their first words no "Hello, Welcome", and no the place was not packed there was another couple seated that's it. Our server rushed us to order so we didn't even get to enjoy or look thoroughly at the menu. Server said we needed to order because the kitchen would be closing, didn't know the kitchen closed 2 hours before closing but ok. Proceeded to order but they didn't have yogurt or fruit or chicken or oatmeal lol Cafe wasn't good , horchata was straight powder Food was decent but for $60 for 2 meals and 2 drinks where you won't even get full is not worth the price. I really didn't even want to tip due to the bad service but another server was actually kind. I came to this spot with my service dog, and the workers gave us dirty looks. The worker suggested I sit outside, even though my service dog wasn't causing any ruckus or disturbing the other customers. Additionally, while I was sitting outside, one of the other customers kept bothering me about my SD. The workers here and the customers around them are terrible. My SD does 9 hour shifts at my college campus, yet for some reason these people act too entitled to have him on the premises. Would not recommend for those with disabilities or in need of accommodation, because you'll constantly get asked about your disability. read more

For starters, after a 40min wait they sat 7 of us around two really small tables - we had very little room. I ordered the Chilaquiles and it was nothing like I expected, it was the equivalent of chips with some green salsa with an egg. The service was okay, not bad but I certainly would not rave about it. xamán's chilaquiles verdes is my favorite breakfast in the neighborhood!! i also highly recommend their cafe de olla and matcha horchata! the folks that work here are friendly and laid back. i've only ever been here once when the service wasn't five stars but they were obviously very busy and with not a lot of staff. i've heard great things about the cantina in the back too. can't wait to try it! read more
