Came here because of the ratings. Wasn't sure when I walked up, but damn glad I came in. Got two rolls and both were fabulous. Quick service and the waiters and chef were very friendly. Most people would walk away seeing the from of this place, but they lost out. Fantastic meal!

    Part of the lunch menu

Had the lunch special and miso soup. I really enjoyed my lunch. (It arrived looking perfect- the photo is after I had already started eating. My server was super friendly and attentive and checked on me at appropriate times. Spoke with the chef making my sushi and we chatted about prep time and kitchen clean up at close (I used to work as a prep cook - and restaurant people are near and dear to my heart). Really nice people here. Ate at the sushi bar. It's a simple layout, and I was comfortable. The have some tables off of the sushi bar area.

Very casual and friendly vibe- fast service! The food was reasonably priced and very fresh tasting! I tried a cucumber wrapped roll, salmon roll and yellow tail roll with an order of Salmon sashimi- all very tasty! Between 4-7 pm they have a happy hour menu with deals on sale and beer and apps/sushi.

Great value for a sushi lunch special. They are short staffed so we had to wait for a bit to get our food. But I must give them a thumbs up for great service even when they were so busy with many customers.

    Hotty Hamachi Tapas

Gotta try this spot in South Phoenix. Amazing sushi at incredible prices! The menu has so much variety, it was hard to choose. Our favorites were the Hotty Hamachi tapas (a must-order), the Crispy Spicy Tuna, and the Baked Salmon Roll. Everything was fresh and delicious. We were too full to try everything we wanted, so we'll definitely be back for the Xami roll, Sad boy roll and Savory Ono Tapas. Happy hour is 4-fantastic and makes an already great value even better. Highly recommend!

Very good sushi spot in Phoenix! Had a pleasant time here with staff and the food. I ordered unagi nigiri, Sad Boy roll, hamachi nigiri, and tobiko. Well priced given its sushi, this place gives so much fish per nigiri. Especially the unagi, I was legitimately surprised by how much is topped over the rice. Can barely bite in one piece. The real winner is the Sad Boy, with its tangy and tingly flavor, it brings a unique palette to the sushi scene. I'd go back just for it alone, but of course the portion size per piece is another win. If you go, beware the parking is really limited...I would guess around 4 spaces at storefront. But I went right when they opened at 12, so I had no trouble. I spent $50

Sushi in the desert! The outside of the building is extremely unassuming, but it is very clean and cozy inside. Service is fast, and the fish is fresh and good quality. The lunch special is a really good deal at $11 for two rolls or $14 for three. As an added bonus, they always offer extra eel sauce and spicy mayo when they bring your food to you.

From the outside, the location is a little sketchy. I actually had my husband go in first to take a look before I decided to join him. But once you step inside, you completely forget about the exterior. It's a small, intimate space with a sushi bar and a separate dining area with a few tables. It feels cozy and focused. The sushi is genuinely some of the best I've had in the valley. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and clean. The quality of the fish really stands out. I usually avoid specialty rolls at most sushi spots because imitation crab tends to upset my stomach, but I had no issues here, which says a lot about their ingredients. At one point I mentioned that I do not like artificial wasabi, and our server brought out fresh wasabi without me even asking. That small detail made a big impression. Service overall was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and very intuitive. We did not have to flag her down for anything. She also did a great job recommending sauces for my husband, who is not typically a big sushi fan, and he ended up loving the meal. We ordered the Sad Boy Roll, which was a standout. The flavors were balanced and memorable. We also tried the Xami Roll, spicy tuna, and a selection of nigiri, all of which were very well done. The gyoza were average and probably skippable. The jalapeño poppers were good, but not essential. The rolls are clearly the main attraction. They also offer happy hour and lunch specials, which make an already good value even better. It is worth the drive and the parking situation. This feels like a place that truly cares about the food they are putting out. A real hidden gem!

So good and the service was amazing. Great price. This place was a hidden Gem, definition of a hole in the wall that you wouldn't expect, but definitely worth a try.

Don't judge a book by its cover! Pleasantly surprised all around. From the outside looks of this place you'd never guess that inside was killing it on sushi. The owner/chef said he has been here for a little over a year. The service which was just him was great and friendly as he chatted us up. Pricing was great and the quality was high. The basic spicy tuna was the best I have had. Lollipop wrap roll could be smaller for one bite but that's just my preference. Overall will be back to get the lunch time specials and happy hour after work!

Wow. As other reviews mentioned, close eyes when you enter the building Don't be fooled with what you get for your $$. No word is necessary. I am coming back soon!

I ordered the Dragon Ball roll I asked for it with no eel .. however they didn't include any sauces and was missing the spicy mayo on top. the roll itself like this was extremely basic and disappointing

(Spoiler alert) Miguel the owner chef of this hole in the wall vibe establishment is getting some of the freshest fish in the city. The fish is flown in and goes to the fish market right around the corner from his restaurant; where he personally goes to pick out the fish. (Many restaurants have it delivered to them). We sat at the counter and had a lovely chat w him. Great selection of Asian beers!! Nice unfiltered sake. The fish all tasted very clean and fresh. Tasty ginger. Amazing spicy garlic edamame. The whole staff is super nice. I love the unassuming nature of the establishment. Not fancy. Just good food good drinks and good people. (His whole fam even came in to eat bc they come every Saturday- I LOVE THAT) Totally stoked to have this in south Phoenix. We will be back, thank you!

We shifted gears and went next door to Sake Haus, and I'm so glad we did! Everything was spectacular! First of all--BEST edamame I've ever had! That tallow really adds a richness! And the gyoza had just the right amount of kick to them. We had both the hamachi crudo and the halibut crudo. They were both delicious, but the hamachi was the standout. Hamachi is usually a little too fishy for me, but this just melted in my mouth and left me wanting more. We also had one of the specials, the 808 roll. It was topped with poke, and we would not let them take the plate until we'd scooped up every little morsel! Cocktails and service were excellent as well. We definitely ended up with a pricier meal than what we'd planned next door, but it was totally worth it! I wish I'd taken pics of the beautifully plated dishes, but I was too just eating!

The service- pretty poor. I was sat in the bar at the back but I basically sat there for a good 5 minutes and nothing. I went back up front and asked to sit at the bar and it was still pretty inattentive, especially considering no one else was even seated in the front room at the time. Never got my water refilled, had to flag them down to put in more food, that sorta thing. The vibes- thought the bar was pretty lit and is prob pretty fun during HH. The food- overpriced for what you get and portion size while the fish and flavors being a smidge above average. I left still hungry after getting the gold omakase, bad and buri roll, and hamachi crudo. The hamachi was the best part of the meal but I'd still expect at least 5 pieces for the price. Anyways, this spot will hit the spot if you have a sushi craving. I can't vouch for the drinks but I assume it more than checks the box in that regard judging by the menu, selection, and vibe. But know that you're in for some trade offs imo.

Even though there's an option to add an egg, it's just not enough protein for me. My friend ordered the spicy miso ramen and loved it. I got my order from her at 6:48pm. They need to fix how takeout orders get handed off to guests. Pickup shouldn't run through the same single host managing a long dine-in line, or if it does, someone has to own circling back. And the food didn't make up for it. The tuna was fishy. I ended up drowning it in soy sauce just to get through it, which is not what you want to be doing with raw fish. When poke is the whole point of the dish, the fish has to be fresh, and this wasn't. The restaurant had a nice moodiness to it with tons of Japanese letters / decor. Other than the ambiance being nice, my experience was not great.
