Stopped in for dinner while shopping at the stores nearby. My friend and I have traveled to western China previously, so we were super excited to try this place! The pork flatbread and Biang Biang noodles were excellent! So many tasty small plates! The staff were friendly and attentive. Service was speedy and excellent. The restaurant is sparkling clean. The menu includes standard Americanised Chinese food options for diners seeking familiar fare. I suggest being a little adventurous and trying something new and different. During a recent visit with friends, we observed that nearly every item on their menu is labeled as spicy, which appealed to my love for Indian cuisine's spice levels. However, my friend's husband found the dried chili chicken too intense. Nevertheless, Xi'an Cuisine has become my preferred choice whenever I crave Chinese food. Their dishes are bursting with flavor, and the portion sizes are impressive for the price. When you arrive they typically will give you the "american menu" with their lunch and dinner specials- SKIP that and make sure to ask for the "brown book"- which has the authentic dishes! This is an ETHNIC Chinese resto; and therein lies the rub. Full disclosure--I was experiencing some annoying Dental tsuris at the time of my visit and this meal was marred by stuff getting stuck in my teeth-annoying as hell. Started off with "Marinated Tofu Skin"-not an attractive plate, but the dish was interesting and tasty. Sheets of Tofu that were...marinated (go figure). The "Biang Biang Noodles" were the push item here, and apparently the house specialty. I later saw these noodles are hand-pulled in the kitchens. Lots of good spicy shit intertwined with them, but for me annoying, 'cos shit kept getting stuck in my faulty teeth. Ultimately, though judges a good feed. Good tea. But not everyone's cup of tea. If you get my drift. I liked it. Also for the amount it's worth the price. My only gripe is that I personally prefer these two items to be softer. As for the Biang Biang noodles, all the toppings were great and flavorful. The beef was soft and tender and the egg and tomato was great. The hand pulled noodles was my favorite part. I never had hand pulled noodles so silky and still chewy. It's not as doughy as other places. Although the toppings were great, the chili sauce the noodles were in was lacking in flavor. Maybe I am picky but I would like my noodles to soak in the sauce. The intestines were very tasty. we asked for it without spicy Lamb with pure cumin: we were not a fan of the meat. I think this had tripe in it ; if it did we liked the tripe Sliced beef maw with red chili sauce: so much meat. Pretty spicy. We didn't really like Liangpi with beef: I think this was the wide rice noodle with beef? We were Def not fans of the sliced beef . Noodles were ok. Cold. But decent flavor in the broth. Second visit to this authentic Hunan Chinese cuisine. I've learned the best way to gauge authenticity is to see who's eating at the establishment. We happen to be the only Americans which my wife and I love. We feel it's part of the experience being immersed in a different culture. I also Love the fact they serve hand stretch Biang-Biang noodles. These are one of my favorite noodles. we started with crab Rangoon. My daughter Jill's favorite.
