Before you come here.. I advise you to only come for brown sugar boba soft serve.. and nothing else. Xing Fu Tang, originally from Taiwan, specializes in brown sugar boba. The boba is hand made in house, cooked and bathed in a delicious sticky sugary syrup. The menu offers a good selection of drinks with the highest priced drink being a $11 gold finished milk tea drink. The soft serve was delicious though it is priced at $6 a cone. For $6, its not a lot of soft serve. The soft serve is creamy and quite refreshing with a nice brown sugar flavor. Its served in a plastic cone shape so its quite difficult to eat the boba with the soft serve, not to mention the boba is really hot so the paranoid person in me is just thinking about the microplastic particles melting into the boba. As for the drinks, my friends ordered 3 drinks all 100% sweet and they all said the drinks tasted like water. So I would definitely recommend skipping the milk tea. Came to try the brown sugar boba #1 and thought it was great. I guess my expectations were set correctly that this is supposed to be a boba experience not necessarily a tea experience. Order at the kiosk to the right of the entry. They make the boba on site and you can watch the boba stirred in a wok and have that boba put into your drink. The #1 standard is non-tea so if you want tea you'll have to request if you want tea or order a different drink off the menu. Anyway the texture and flavor of the boba is great. I've not been to the one in Taiwan, nor did I expect a brown sugar drink to be not sweet. There are SO many boba places in this area but what drew us to this particular shop is the fact that they make their own boba fresh daily. I'm shocked that this place isn't better rated because their boba is LEGIT & WAY better than other places like Mr. Sun, which also boasts freshly made boba. I sometimes will get drinks and fridge them for drinking the next day and usually factory-made boba doesn't sit well overnight & harden quickly so I would have to microwave them to soften them (but you also can't heat them up too long because then they will melt and get kind of gross)...so I usually just tolerate sub-par boba when this happens. Sooooooo good! I'm so glad there's a XFT up in the Bay Area cause the next closest I believe is in Southern California. There's two self serve kiosks where you're able order and pay by yourself. There's a couple of tables for seating inside, so if you wanted to get a drink and catch up with friends, you could. They have an extensive menu including milk and tea based drinks. Overall, I think that their drinks are just OK. It's a very limited menu with very few "tea" options (90% of the drinks are just milk drinks). One thing I don't like is the lack of customization. For instance, the passionfruit tea comes with red boba, but there's no option to reduce sweetness or swap out for regular boba. I'm still shocked that swapping out toppings isn't possible. I tried the red boba and I didn't like the texture. It wasn't chewy like the regular boba is. The one redeeming factor is that I did love the tapioca pearls. You can watch them make it and it's extremely fresh. They give you a decent amount of pearls, but the drinks are tiny especially for the price. To upgrade to a large, it's an additional $1.50, making the drink $8. I usually get full sweetness at other boba shops, but I got reduced sweetness for their brown sugar milk tea and it was perfect. Have visited the Manhattan and Seattle location and this one didn't really impress. Ordering is all via a machine but people are really slow so expect a line until the hype has died down. When I first saw this place, I was super excited to try since I know it was a famous Taiwanese chain that makes fresh boba. I remember when they first opened there were lines out the door for a while. You order on the kiosk (there are 2 inside) and they have a small indoor seating area with tables. In my honest option, if you are not a fan of boba or are not feeling boba I would not recommend going here. A lot of their drinks you cannot adjust many things on (sweetness, ice level, etc). We put our order through a kiosk, and had to wait a longer period of time because we had multiple drinks. Now, about the drinks: all of them look spectacular in presentation. My order was the Rose Gold Foil Brown Sugar Boba Milk, and you can see from the picture just what it looks like. So aesthetic, so pretty, I was obsessing over it! Taste-wise though... It was your everyday brown sugar boba drink. For a brown sugar drink though, it wasn't too sweet -- but that made it taste pretty bland. I also didn't eat the rose, unfortunately, as the cashier jokingly warned me against it (I listened, just in case). The pricing was already pretty steep, taking into account the size of the drinks that we got, but the extra money to add the rose and gold foil for basically the same drink wasn't worth it. The rose was pretty but not edible, however, the gold foil is. Another person liked the herbal jelly tea. I want to try the tea the next time I'm in the area. They have a lot of teas to choose from. I swear in this day and age, it feels like there's a new boba shop opening every day. My friend wanted to try Xing Fu Tang, a boba shop hailing from Taiwan. The shop was crowded with customers and lots of staff were working but it seemed like the turn-around of drinks were slow. The flavor and sweetness level was good, I was surprised it wasn't overly sweet. But the boba was not quite there. They were squishy rather than chewy and so large that it was really difficult to suck up through the straw. I ordered a drink for my sister too with lactose free milk and we had to throw it away. I tried the milk black tea one with boba and the tea flavor was so light. I could barely taste it. The boba was harder and not warm, it didn't taste fresh like the first time. Maybe because there wasn't as many people? My partner got the rose gold foil milk with boba and it literally was a rose in the drink. I thought it was funny. He was like "do I eat this?" Xin Fu Tang is a popular new boba spot that I've heard so much about! I was excited to try it, especially since my friend had such good things to say after trying it in New York. Unfortunately, it definitely did not meet expectations. When you walk in, you can order from the kiosk. The drinks were definitely on the sweeter side. We did normal sweetness (which is typically okay), but it was just too much. The #1 signature especially was wayyyyyy too sweet. The peach oolong was good for me though! I enjoyed it - just be sure to mix it a lot. My other friend got the lime jasmine with honeycomb and it took a while for the honeycomb to mix in well with the drink. A cute plus to this location tho is that they have a little fortune telling station where you draw a stick number and grab your fortune from the box. That was super cute and fun! Came here twice, and I'm not sure I really get the hype. My friends from NY said this franchise is the best boba place there, but Ive never been to the one in NY so Im not sure if the quality is different over there. Pretty overpriced for the amount and most flavors arent that unique. The parking gets packed really easily, but if worse comes to worse and you cant find parking, you'll be able to park in the plaza across and just cross the street over! Ordering is convenient. 2 digital kiosks, all pictures shown so no need to look up and squint up on a screen like some boba places. Most drinks are $6.50 and its one size. It looks smaller than most regular cups. If you want no ice, it's like an extra $0.75 or $1.00 (i forgot exactly) but the cup itself is so small, idk why they're charging an extra dollar for no ice. The first time I came here I got the the Brown Sugar Boba Black Tea Latte ($6.50) and my friend got the Signature Brown Sugar Boba Milk ($6.50). My drink tasted a lot better than my friend's. I definitely would not recommend getting their signature drink if you prefer a tea based. I've made that mistake before in other shops, but the signature is literally milk poured over boba. Nothing special at all but def cute for our Instagram generation - Milk tea with boba, the milk tea was super thin and watered down and the boba was also sort of mid but chewy and had a slight flavor from the brown sugar I would give higher stars just for the little luck drawing box in the back of the store. So fun and cute to do with friends or a date. Like you went to a shrine together. You order at the self serve kiosk and pick your drink up at the front. It's been a couple weeks since Xing Fu Tang opened, and I've visited 3 times already, so I figured it was time to leave a review. This is the 3rd Xing Fu Tang location I've tried, and I still find it a bit overhyped. The milk of their signature drink tastes odd - I can't describe it, but it isn't what you'd expect of the typical brown sugar boba milk drink. However, the fresh brown sugar boba is delicious in both taste and texture! I've also tried the matcha, which the liquid itself is again just alright, but the boba was consistently good. The soft serve I highly recommend if you're in the market for something different! The soft serve is not too sweet (the ultimate Asian compliment lol), tea flavor is strong, and the boba mixes in well. With how mediocre their drinks are, I'd recommend visiting on a Mon-Thur. Don't visit too close to closing as they'll run out of boba. There are only 2 tablets to order on and drinks take about 10 minutes to make even when it isn't crowded - I've waited 30 minutes on a crowded night and that wasn't fun at all. Their fortune area is a cute gimmick but there usually aren't any fortunes in there. Hope they get over their growing pains soon! All in all, come once for the hype but I don't think I'd visit often if I didn't live close by! read more

I have been to several XFT locations now. This one is the first in the Bay Area and it's very spacious. I was surprised to see it in a plaza with two other boba shops. The menu is pretty standard and they cook the boba on display as usual. If you like soft and doughy boba texture, check this place out! The drinks here are very rich and definitely not something I can drink often. Here's my drink recommendations: + Matcha Red Boba Milk + Blue Soda & Housemade Jelly + Brown Sugar Boba Black Tea Latte As for the Bunny Jelly Strawberry Smoothie, the drink is EXTREMELY SWEET! I first heard about Xing Fu Tang on TikTok, and I was like "Whoa.. this place looks cool, and they have a wok of cooking boba?!" My sister and I drove to this place a few weeks ago, and there was a lot of people in the store waiting. We ordered through one of the self-service kiosks. Pretty simple and straight forward. We each got the Brown Sugar Boba Milk and one of the Ice Cream. I think we ended up waiting for about 18 minutes until we got a text that our order was ready. Upon tasting the drink, I immediately taste "Pei Pai Goh" which is a Chinese herbal supplement. Weird... I like Pei Pai Goh's taste if I'm coughing because that's when you would take it, but we think Pei Pa Koa's taste is even better than this drink. I took a few sips, and then I had to stop drinking it because it just didn't taste good. The ice cream however was creamy and yummy. I just didn't like the boba as it has the odd Pei Pa Koa-ish flavor. Also, we realize that we're not fond of the Lactaid milk that they use. We like real cow milk. The place is cute, and I like the added touch of picking a stick with a number t find your fortune. Some of the little drawers were out of the fortunes so we had to pick a few times until we got a drawer that had some. I liked my fortune as it was encouraging me to have a positive change in life. My sister's fortune was interesting. I interpret a certain way, but she was a bit confused about it. There are better boba places around honestly. read more

I came here Tuesday evening and thankfully the line was short, unlike last time where the entire store was literally packed. We got a tea and a milk tea. I actually enjoyed both drinks. The tea was very refreshing and I really liked the taste of it. I just wish there was less ice so that I can have more of the tea. As for the milk tea, I got #1 since it's their signature drink and I liked the texture and taste of their boba, but the overall drink was okay. Some things that I don't like is the price is quite high for the amount that you get. Their cups, although pretty, are a lot smaller than most other boba shops. For their signature boba, there are no ice level options and for their tea, they charge an extra 0.75 cents for no ice. The interior was clean and spacious. I love how they make their boba right in front of you through the glass panel so it's like a show while you wait for your drink to be made. They also have a fun activity on the wall next to their two ordering kiosks. You draw a number stick and open the drawer based on the number you drew and it will tell your fortune like a fortune cookie. They have only four tables so we had to wait a bit for a table to become available. All in all, I'm happy they opened a store here so that I hav another boba shop option in the area. read more

I've had this in SoCal a few times and have an idea of what it should taste like. The sizing is small compared to most places so definitely the occasional splurge. Pros are really extended menu. They offer coffee, herbal drink and a lot of flavored teas. Their offerings may be standard to a boba shop but their SoCal location has a limited menu. Ordered hubby the grapefuit green tea at 30% with strawberry boba. For fruit drinks you are unable to add the stir fried boba that's reserved for milk drinks only so I opted for the strawberry boba which I know from the other location is pretty good. At 30% grapefruit was just right! Not too sour and slightly tangy and tart. The strawberry boba felt a little off. They seemed a little bloated from what I was used to but it was ok. I opted for chocolate brown sugar boba milk because it sounded interesting. Well boba was horrible. They were overly bloated and not ball shaped. I had trouble getting it through my straw and they just seemed like a hot mess. The manager brought bucket of cooked boba out and dumped it into the stir fry pan where it got slightly stir fried before being spooned into cups. Came here on a weekday afternoon. There wasn't a line so I got super lucky. There were two kiosks to order their drinks. Lots of options to choose from. I ordered their Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Dalgona Coffee, my mom had their Real Taro Milk, (it's also super nice that she can make it lactose-free milk), and another order of the Bunny Jelly Strawberry Smoothie. Drinks: Real Taro Milk: It was good. Not too sweet nor sweet. The taro is pretty fresh. Brown Sugar Boba w/ Dalgona: VERY sweet. I'd have to say it felt like it was 110% extra sweet if you just picked regular sweet. Next time I go back, I'd definitely get half-sweet or less. But overall it was very good. Just very sweet, that I had enough room to add my own milk at home. The boba is also very chewy. Bunny Jelly Strawberry Smoothie: The bunny on top is super cute! Very jiggly! the strawberry flavor is also super good and it's very refreshing, especially during the hot summer days. The boba is also very chewy. The environment: Not a lot of place to sit. It was pretty busy inside and all the seats were taken. I think it was about 4 - 5 tables. It does get crowded inside but it's still spacious. As for Parking, it was easy to find on the weekday. I probably wouldn't come on the weekend. I also like that they have this fun little fortune-teller thing. I was able to pick a stick, but the # I got, they ran out of that fortune because when I open the case, it was empty. They were busy restocking and told me to pick another one. Not a very good experience for that since it's supposed to tell you your fortune but they tell you if you can pick another. But I get it for fun but it defeats the purpose of that "experience." We walked by this store while in Taiwan but the line was too long for us. Now we can go anytime in town. My friend from work told me about this place. We are very saturated with boba shops in this area, but what makes this one stand out above the rest is their in house made tapioca balls which are super soft and tasty. The open kitchen allows us to see the workers rolling the dough and cooking the dough in a giant wok. The production seems very efficient. read more
