Had dinner here on a Friday night. The service was friendly and attentive. They brought chips with 4 different salsas/hot sauces...they were SO freaking good! I kept eating chips, just so I could eat the sauces. I ordered a combo with 4 tacos - grilled chicken, birria, carne asada, and al pastor. ALL of them were delicious, but I really loved the birria! It was so flavorful and juicy. The rice and beans were excellent too. My nephew ordered huevos rancheros and said it was excellent - it looked super yummy too. We both enjoyed everything so much. I was looking at the dishes being carried to other tables, and there was this giant cauldron sized bowl of soup that looked fantastic! The owner came and spoke to us. He was so nice to talk to. The only horrible thing there is the parking, but that is about to be remedied. The owner told us they are moving just up the road to Saticoy and White Oak, so that will be a great improvement. I got an order of enchiladas and the family chose shrimp, carnitas, birria, carne asada and Al pastor tacos. I would give Xochipilli a solid 4 stars. The enchiladas were pretty good, nice red sauce, meat was tender and overall flavorful. The carnitas were soft but seemed to be missing that deep fried and crisped crunch, the Al pastor had good flavor, shrimp tacos were good but the Birria tacos were my favorite. The rice was a bit dry and the beans were pretty good. If you are craving a wide variety of good Mexican food, stop looking and swing by Xochipilli for good solid Mexican food. read more

The restaurant has beautiful Mexican decorations, and all the waiters were very polite and welcoming. We ordered chilaquiles and huevos rancheros -- both were delicious! We really enjoyed our visit. Hadn't been here since it changed ownership. After driving by it multiple times we finally decided to give it a try. I'm sorry I didn't try it sooner! The interior has such a pretty aesthetic and welcomes you to sit in and enjoy a great meal. We sat at the bar since the dining room was busy. Being as the bar area is large and had the Dodger game on we didn't mind at all. We ordered a burrito mojado (al pastor meat) as well as the taco fiesta plate (asada, carnitas, birria, and al pastor). Everything was absolutely delicious! The burrito was a great size and doused with salsa verde. The tacos were substantial in size compared to the tiny ones you get elsewhere and had a generous serving of meat. I asked for salsas and they brought out a red, verde, and avocado one; all delicious! The Jamaica was refreshing and not artificial nor overly sweet. As for the service everything was prompt and everyone was attentive; Jorge gave us insights on the restaurant and how they came to be. He was really nice and gave us a free dessert for our first visit: churros. All I can say is yum! The cajeta was warm and a perfect pairing for the fluffy yet crunchy churros. I left Xochipilli taco bar not only stuffed to the gills, but so thrilled to have found what is now my new favorite spot for authentic Mexican food! Classic tale of "I've driven past this place a ton before but never stopped in". So happy that I finally checked it out. Had such a fabulous experience and I am kicking myself for not trying it sooner but so happy to have discovered this amazing local gem. The outside is so unassuming, you would never know how beautiful it is inside. This place was created and decorated with love! The bright colors and floral theme make it so homey and inviting. Service is absolutely grade A and the food is simply spectacular. I ordered the birria and the meat was so juicy and tender, I was in awe. The tortillas are served hot and fresh. Wow it came with about 9 small shrimp, rice beans and flour tortillas. Taste of garlic was about a 8.3 I would like the sauce to be a little more thick. My fiancé had the chicken fajitas. Anyway, we kept on and ordered some food. We ordered the Bracero and asked for no cheese on everything. No cheese, no Crema, no dairy. When the bean and rice came out, there was no cheese. When the big mix platter came out, there were chunks of cheese in it. Anyway, the chorizo was ok. How do you even mess that up, right? Eat the chorizo with the beans and tortillas, and it was ok. The meats though, they all were not good. Everything in that expensive platter was worthless, not worth a calorie. Do yourself a favor, if you come here, stick to the cheap eats. I originally came for the chile relleno, but unfortunately, they were sold out (insert broken heart here). Instead, we went with the red chilaquiles and enfrijoladas. The red sauce on the chilaquiles was packed with flavor and had a nice kick without being too spicy. The rice was absolute perfection--light and fluffy. My girlfriend and her mom had the chorizo plate and burrito. I had the pork ribs with rice beans and handmade tortillas. Dad has the red chilaquiles with over easy eggs. Great service out of the gate -- table touching, and offering their extra salsas without us asking. I will say the spicy salsa is legit spicy. It seemed like a busier night when we were there, so the food did take a bit longer than expected. Most of food options were solid. Their pork and steak (asada) meats were very good. The chicken was a bit dry for us. The tortillas were good, and the chicken wings were surprisingly really solid. I'd say most things were above average while others weren't exactly our favorite.
