We also tried a lychee cocktail, which was really refreshing. Everything hit the spot and the portions were satisfying. The only small note is that the beans could have used a bit more seasoning, but overall the meal was still very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this spot and would come back again.

The first thing placed on the table was their famous aji verde, the vibrant green sauce. I couldn't resist dipping my fork in for a taste--spicy, fresh, and absolutely addictive. We ordered a spread that truly showcased the menu: Mama Juanita's rotisserie chicken, perfectly seasoned and juicy; corvina; and a ceviche mixto loaded with shrimp, octopus, calamari, red onions, cilantro, rocoto pepper, and lime juice. It was so refreshing and flavorful that I found myself spooning up every last drop of the citrusy marinade. The lomo saltado was another standout--a savory Peruvian stir-fry with marinated strips of beef, served alongside crispy fries. We also added a side of maduros, their sweetness balancing the meal beautifully. The ambiance was casual, comfortable, and simple, with unique walls decorated in intertwined tree branches that added a rustic touch. The service matched the food--our waiter, the busboy, and the manager were all attentive, engaging, and genuinely friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. Dessert was Tres Leches Cake. One bite in, and it basically melts in your mouth- no chewing required. It's sweet, soggy and by the end, you're not sure if you ate cake... or drank it--but either way, no regrets. Overall, it was a memorable meal full of bold flavors, great company, and warm hospitality.

The only thing I'd say about this dish is that, based on the two times I've ordered it, I wish the steak came out more tender as it's all cooled off and slightly toughened by the time we eat it. Gang Fak Tong (5/5) - oh I was starstruck for this curry. I love all things pumpkin, so that + soft shell crab was literally the dish of my dreams. Disclaimer: I can tolerate a moderate level of spice, but this one really had a kick to it so maybe brace yourself. Pad Thai (5/5) - imo they were on a roll that day with the crying tiger and pumpkin curry, because I feel like it's hard for pad thai to stand out, but everything from the sauce to the noodles, literal fireworks of flavors. I think I'm hyping this too much now but just know she's worth. Som Tum Thai (4/5) - not the best papaya salad I've had because I personally like the ones that pack a punch with the acidity and tanginess, but this still did the job and delivered on the freshness and flavor that helps cut through any greasiness from the other plates This place fills up quickly but still had good service - food did take 15-30min for us so something to keep in mind.

So yum!!!! Top 3 thai spots for me…read more Food- Classic order of Pad Thai & Drunken Noodles. The pad thai noodles are a big thinner than i've had before but that didn't bother me, it has such great flavor too. I recommend ordering it spicy, it's the perfect heat if you're looking for that kick but don't add it if you can't handle spice. The drunken noodles are not spicy in my opinion but i can handle a bit of heat. Loved the flavor and the noodles had the right texture, could've done without the huge chunks of tomato but great otherwise. The summer rolls were good, hard to mess those up. We also got a free mango salad with the order and that was so fresh and delicious. We just popped in for pick up but the hostess was really nice and attentive as soon as we walked in. It looked to be a nice casual spot, could be good for dinner with friends or date night.

It does well with doing the whole "fusion" schtick without losing the essence and flavor of the dishes. Pad Krapoa Moo Krob, the meat on the pork belly was so juicy - the pork skin was crunchy and chewy at the same time, flavors of Thai spice, basil, and bell peppers harmoniously working together to bring a balanced meal. The shrimp basil fried rice was delicious, a great alternative if you're not feeling the crab fried rice. The service at Obao is always prompt and helpful, whether it's questions about the menu or recommendations, anyone is willing to help. Inside Oboa is dimly lit, a moody vibe that is fun and invites playful conversations.

They're hoping to open a rooftop space (separate entrance - not currently open!) and a speakeasy lounge downstairs soon, too. Warning: GRATUITY IS ADDED AUTOMATICALLY FOR EVERY CHECK. Since this is a nearby new spot in the neighborhood, we decided to check it out on a nondescript September Wednesday evening. We were one of only a few customers at the bar, although a large party came in later and sat in the dining area. The cocktail menu seems to be evolving as we didn't see some of the drinks shared on previous Yelp reviews on the current menu, and they have also added quite a bit of food to their offerings. Service was overall decent, but the the evolving drink menu meant the bartender was still learning the current drink recipes for each order, therefore taking some additional time. Unfortunately, the drinks did not really stand out. They were average, though boozy, and really just OK. I hope that it's just growing pains as they continue to evolve their menu, but unfortunately, the cocktail program needs some love. Adding fuel to the fire was a very generous unnecessary gratuity auto-added to every check.

Luckily they were able to make the bread during changeover so happily took that home. I usually follow an order with my reviews but this will just go in order of service. Place has this very Dutch modern look though the food is pan Med focusing on southern coast especially Morroco. They had French toast and Croque Madam but with twist. My croque Madam was the French version mixed with Georgian the country dish Khachapuri. Decent drink list though as with the croque madam many with a twist. The blood Mary was clarified so got taste without the thick tomato juice part. The Margarita had at passionfruit foam which looked a bit weird but tastes good instead of the normal salt rim. We started out with a couple small dishes of shishito peppers and feta cheese. The Cheese went great with the frena bread. Frena bread is cooked in what was described as pizza oven like thing. The peppers were cooked perfectly and came with this great sauce. Every one liked there food except the young child was not a big fan of the French toast though he ate half of it and loved the steak that was shared with him. Everyone else raved about their dishes of merguez Shakshuka, steak, benedict and the earlier mentioned croque madame. We ended meal with the Morrocon donuts and the birthday ice cream. Kid had choice overload between the many options before going with coffee. Will come back for dinner to try the salmon dish and the short rib tagine that the server recommended and also to try the prickly pear or one of the other ice creams. Have no pictures as most of the food was brownish which does not photograph well but do have leftover so might add them later.

We started with the baba ganoush dip with the complementary Frena bread - Frena bread is a MUST! So fluffy and would go well with any dip. Baba ganoush wasn't our personal favorite but still went great with the bread, with a nice balance of creamy and chunky. Next were the seared scallops and shrimp kadayif - scallops was heavenly and I think we all agree it was our favorite dish - the sear had a perfect caramelization, super tender, and it went well with the spinach pesto which was not nutty at all, very light and fresh. Shrimp kadayif was very crispy and savory but the creamed corn and lobster bisque were a bit heavy/salty. For our mains we got the butterflied branzino and lamb terracotta - branzino was silky soft and on the milder side whereas the lamb was SO flavorful and juicy. The one thing is that the lamb comes with this flatbread on top of the clay pot which goes well with the lamb but some of it was undercooked. For dessert we got the knaffe as everyone was glowing about it and this hazelnut chocolate dessert that I cannot find the name of. Nonetheless, knaffe was so interesting because we've never had anything like it - soaked in syrup but still crispy on the outside with this mochi-like chewiness inside. We also subbed the honey lavender ice cream with strawberry prickly pear, and that was absolutely delicious. The hazelnut dessert felt like a giant ferrero rocher with this quince ice cream, which is apparently like an apple/pear but it had a slight citrusy flavor it, very refreshing and yummy. The takeaway: Frena has incredible ice cream. Inside of the restaurant is beautiful, and every once in a while the lights got dimmer for an intimate ambiance, lovely spot for a nice dinner (make sure you're ready to spend $$). Our server was also very cordial throughout everything, helping us navigate the menu and making for an overall great experience!
