Went here with some girlfriends for happy hour for the first time yesterday. Pretty place with good 90s music (a bit loud, though). Hh ends early so get there before 6 to get hh prices. Happy hour discounts are $2 off cocktails and half off some appetizers. Cocktails are expensive around $12 regular price. Appetizers are about $15 regular price. My favorite dish was the sashimi nachos. The "nachos" were more like lightly fried wonton wrappers. The calamari and regular sashimi plate were also quite good. Breaded cauliflower was ok. The sliders were the most disappointing, I wouldn't bother with those again, dry and just not as good as the rest of the food. Drinks were good but too expensive. So we arrived and was told that it would be 20-25 minutes to be seated. Time passed and still no seating provided. Approached the hostess for a resolution but no guidance provided aside from it may take more time. We had to sit ourselves with the hostess saying "whatever y'all wanna do" then she left and no waiter provided. We finally got a waitress who then started her serving with saying that our party was cutoff before even taking our order or greeting us. She proceeded with horrible attitude as our friend asked what options were vegtarian. She then said , "anything with a V next to it" with an unpleasant tone , as if she was being bothered for a recommendation at a restaurant. We explained this whole experience to the manager and he just blindly defended the scenario. Offered no resolution. He stated they try to provide good service and they need to do better however again no resolution seen upfront. Will not visit this place anymore, could not recommend to people visiting. Sat on the patio early on a Friday evening and waitress promptly forgot about us. Luckily, Siousixe was there to save us and finally deliver waters. Bartender got both our drink orders wrong somehow and the food was average a best. Girl's vegan burger was pretty much inedible. They were kind enough to comp us drinks. I tried to like this place but it just keeps pissing me off. Last night we were there for over three hours and had a crap meal. Almost $6 for a three bite taco on the dinner menu, tuna roll appetizer is a tuna stack - not a roll. I sent that bs back. Word it right!! Oh and the worst part, I tasted pure LARD in my beans and rice. Disgusting!!!! I wanted to puke. The "spicy tuna roll" is an interesting interpretation of the word "roll". It would probably be better described as a tuna fish cake, or maybe we could all be honest and call it hipster casserole. I think roll tested better in the focus group. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? Did you try this food before serving it to me? I have so much to say but I'm just dumbfounded. This try at a "deconstructed" tuna makizushi is frankly a little bit offensive. Do you think there is a particular rationale to the way a sushi roll is constructed? You think Japan got it wrong for the last 500 years? Furthermore, do you think something might be implied by the words "spicy", "tuna", and "roll", together with a description of what one would *reasonably* assume to be the ingredients of a spicy tuna makizushi, and not some weird *thing*? Thanks for comping the order at least. The aggressive attempts to get me to buy more drinks or food after the fact weren't appreciated, though. I've definitely experienced better. read more

I have been to Yard House twice now and really enjoy it. It's a chain restaurant that is located in a bazillion other places, but it lacks the chain feel. They have a comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. The space has a great ambiance and the interior dining area is wrapped around the central large bar which is the focal point of the space. The first thing you see when you enter is the impressive number of taps at the central bar. They also have original art hanging on the walls created by Jerome Gastaldi, which is supposed to capture the essence of the local community. Supposedly this makes no two Yardhouse locations exactly the same. They have an impressive variety of beers and ciders on tap. They also offer several wines, and great craft cocktails. I love their sangria, and most importantly the Build Your Own Old Fashioned. The happy hour is a great deal here. Otherwise, the price tag can add up quickly. The food menu is as extensive as the drink options and created from their scratch kitchen. The chicken nachos were phenomenal. The chicken was moist and flavorful. I would definitely get those again. The truffle cheese burger was tasty, and the lobster mac and cheese to die for. The sweet potato fries were OK. A bit on the crispier-burnt side. The service has always been incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. This is another great addition to the Domain. read more

The staff was very rude. I would have walked out of the restaurant if not for the fact that we waited for about 45 mns and I was with my work team of about 15 of us. At the entrance, as we checked on our wait time, the staff was rude in how they intereacted and infact told that they are being rude in just responding to us. One of my team mates happened to help himself with a glass of water (having stayed out in the austin heat for more than 45 mns) with what looked like a water dispenser and the waitress was so rude in saying he cannot pick the glass of water and he was not allowed there.. there were no signs that said it was staff only. It was not just her words but the way she stared, we all could have just melted - it was worse than the austin heat we experienced! The food and vibe could be nice but I would never visit or recommend this because of the rude staff. read more

This place is great if you like beer, as they have so many beers on tap. Other than that, it's not worth it. Their menu items have so many calories, and are so unhealthy. And honestly, the food is bleh. It's an upscale chili's. If you need a place that has everything, and don't have high expectations, this is the place to go. What really did this place in for me was the beard hair from the bar tender that was floating in my drink the last time. Once there is hair in my food/drink, I am done. Eventually, chain restaurants will let you down. And it's usually the service, not the food, that will be the let down. Sadly, Yard House let us down tonight. Our food was good. Honestly, the kitchen is slow and that's almost even understandable with as good as the food was. Our server, Briana, took one of our entrees away to be boxed up. She spent forever before she finally came back and told us that the leftovers had been lost. She then told us that the replacement would be out in a few more minutes. BUT.... she waited to tell us, then she already turned the replacement order in after we'd already been there for about an hour and a half. We asked for a manager. The manager was friendly enough and gave us a discount card -- which had an expiration date for the end of the month. This gesture struck everyone at our table as insincere at best. Corporate "apology" at its best -- we fouled up, so here's a discount you have to use quickly and hope we don't foul up on your next time giving us money. read more

Yard house has an amazing happy hour for food (drinks I can do better) but when you go definitely order the ahi sashimi (seared tuna) and the poke nachos (both of these items came out to 6 or 7 bucks when half ff). My wife and I stopped here for an anniversary dinner. There are 2 sides to this restaurant, the food and the service. The food is incredible. I got the Pepper Crusted Filet which was exceptional. It sat on top of mashed potatoes, carrots and asparagus which were also delicious. My wife enjoyed the Mac+Cheese which was also delicious - and the portion size was crazy big. The service was not great. Our wait staff was very friendly (including a treat for our anniversary), but very slow. We waited on a couple of occasions over 5 minutes for help (looking for check, refills). The food, however, was still good enough to warrant the 4 stars. We were blown away by the taste of the food. Perfectly average. There is no other way to describe this place that exactly average; it wasn't good, wasn't bad, just okay. The indoors has a very "sports bar" aesthetic with dim lighting and TVs everywhere which is great if you're looking for a fun place to watch the game (whatever game that may be). Additionally, the menu has tons of great options for snacking eith everything ranging from full out meals (burger and fries, fish and chips, seafood pasta, etc.) to small snacks (ahi tower, calamari, queso, etc.). While I appreciate the range of options available I was really underwhelmed by the dishes themselves. My family ordered the calamari appetizer, the lobster garlic noodles, and the pork burger. The calamari was incredibly bland and flavorless. Even doused in sauce I couldn't place any flavor to what was in my mouth. The garlic noodles were half decent considering the significant amount of seafood in it but due to the sauce the pasta came out really sweet which is not my cup of tea. Lastly, the pork burger was just a typical burger that you could really get anywhere. I really enjoyed the thin fries that came with it but that was about it. Service matched the food in that it wasn't anything spectacular but also nothing to complain about. Considering you're paying about $15-$20 for a meal, I'd prefer to walk away with a much better feeling about my empty wallet. read more

Yard House is one of my favorite places to go to. My first time at a Yard House was many years ago in Long Beach, CA. We went for a friend's birthday and it was really cool to me that they had the yard long beer! Then when I moved to Vegas, it became my favorite place to go to - a great happy hour and a great menu. A big draw was the vegetarian options - they have a great Gardein menu so you can order any meat substitute and it is just delicious! I was SO excited to hear that Yard House was coming to Austin. The 2 times that I have been have always been superb - service is excellent. The first time I came I had some delicious red wine and the second time I came for a friend's birthday. The server ended up bringing ice cream and chocolate with "Happy Birthday" sprinkled on the plate. I had the Gardein chicken and avocado sandwich and my friend had the tofu lettuce wraps. Three visits in, and I think it's time for a review. Yard House is obviously a national chain, one I first visited while vacationing in California. I remember thinking at the time they absolutely needed to open on in Austin, and they did! It's sort of tucked away between the Rock Rose And NorthSide areas of the Domain. This doesn't however, make it hard for patrons to make the trip here! Weekend waits can run up to 80 minutes, and I doubt they take reservations. There are over 100 beers on tap. You read that right. Both domestic and foreign, beer is served up in three sizes - shorty (half pint) , regular (pint) and yard. I also believe there's a half yard. The beer isn't as cheap, probably coz of the location. They also serve a variety of cocktails and wine as they have an impressive bar. Indoor seating is intimate, yet open. Be lighting is dim , so if that isn't your thing, get a seat on their fantastic (also pup friendly) patio. Now, for the food. Their Gardein selection is all vegan/vegetarian- which is what I'm going to talk about. So far , I've had the gardein buffalo chicken pizza, gardein chicken rice bowl and Gardein orange chicken. The orange chicken deserves special mention - served up with spicy rice, real orange peel in the sauce and Gardein (tofu) - even someone who loathes tofu, such as myself, couldn't get enough of it! The food averages from $10-$17 and is totally worth the price. The service has always been fantastic. The staff is attentive and genuinely helpful. They're also very kid friendly, with kids menu et al. This place has become my 'go to' at the domain. read more

Sweet Mother of Hops and Grains! "So much beer and so little time," said my man. They have 130 on tap daily. This is Beer Heaven. And just look at the wine list! Several import options which make me very happy. We arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday and the place was already flowing with happy beer folks. And then there's the Kurobuta Pork Burger with a giant slab of candied bacon, Jack cheese, arugula and blueberry ketchup that a Kitchen Angel blessed. Salty and rich with a dark sweet molasses sauce and a side salad was perfect. Our table shared the onion ring tower and Ahi Tuna apps. I suggest going early to take advantage of their happy hour and grab a table on the patio. You meet the nicest people outside including a beautiful Vizsla named "Ruger". The food was great. I ordered the guac and chips to start and the seafood agnolotti as the entree and I was impressed with both. The agnolotti was a generous enough helping to fill me up, but not so large as to leave me immobile. I also sampled their desserts and found their peach apple cobbler and cheesecake brûlée to be divine. I was less impressed with the service quality. I think our waitress checked on us twice between the time she took our order and the time she brought the check. She looked in so infrequently that I had to ask different servers for silverware, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, and Parmesan cheese. My advice for the owners would be to make sure servers are checking in more frequently. I'm also fully cognizant that we dined during a Sunday when football was on, and so the place may have been busier than usual. Perhaps that was the issue. read more

I was here the 2nd week they were open and avoided writing a review, so I could keep this place a secret a bit longer...I know shame on me. It wasn't going to happen anyway. This place is a huge hit no matter which state you find it. Anyway, I've been to this location 4 times now and I've gone to the Denver location many many times as well. At this point, I'm finding the service and food consistent all the way. I can't say I've had a mediocre or horrible dish yet. Not to mention, they do an awesome job at the appearance of food. I know it doesn't matter what it looks like for most people since it's going down the hatch anyway. But I find myself wanting to take a picture of my dish which I don't do often. I know, shame on me again as a Yelper. The most obvious reason you should check out Yard House is for their happy hour and HUGE selection of beverages. Also ordered the Brussels. The aioli made it phenomenal. For entrees I ordered the Mushroom Dusted Mahi Mahi and my friend ordered the Black Spaghetti w Pepperoni and Calamari. This place has a ton of beers on tap, which is really a great thing. But for some reason another drink caught my eye. I ordered the Bikini tini (ha ha I know) and it was really good. It is cruzan banana rum, cruzan pineapple rum, pineapple juice, and dekuyper pomegranate. A huge departure from my usual pint, but I'm glad I tried it. The place has a really open layout. When you first walk in there are booths around the walls and the bar is in the middle. The bar area is cool and has a nice design. We ordered the jerk wings, which are grilled, because they were suggested by our server. They also have fried wings, but hey, we were trying new stuff that day (bikini tini). The wings had a good jerk seasoning on them and they were cooked OK, but the real star was the rum BBQ sauce that came on the side. I would have loved that sauce on a fried wing (note for next time).
