My husband and I went on a double date with his best friend and his wife (fun fact, we're both currently pregnant lol) on a Sunday and we had a great experience. The food was delicious, we all had a good time. We ordered the Jambalaya, Steak Bowl, Chicken Tacos, Fish tacos, Calamari, 32 and 16oz beers, a mocktail (totaled to about $160 or so). Let me tell you, the tacos were incredible! Idk if I'd order the calamari again since it was mostly small little pieces of fried bread crumbs. Leaving that aside, everything was delicious! Had a great time at this location out of the few I have dined in at! Our server was amazing! Super attentive and kind. I cant recall his name but he gave recommendations for drinks and constantly helped clear the table when possible (much appreciated because other locations sometimes just left our table covered with plates and never came by once to remove some dishes we had finished). We did also order lots so it was hard to even make room for it all in the first place. The food was great as well! I noticed minor differences to other locations. I always visit during happy hour to take advantage of the deals. I love getting poke nachoes, but it had less sauce and fish it seemed than other Yard Houses. Everything else was great and variety of condiments provided from the start, which was never a thing for me at other locations. Again very attentive!! Went back tonight, purposely to this location over others, even though it's farther away. I hope it was an off night, but looking at the recent reviews, I'm not sure it was. Immediately when walking in, there was a female server that moved all the chairs to clean. So we literally couldn't walk to sit. She gave no f*cks. She continued cleaning and ignored her tables as they walked up to her and asked for help. I debated leaving at that point, and should have, because the night only got worse. Some other recent reviews said, I don't usually write bad reviews, and as a server, etc, and I relate to all of that. I usually even avoid reading reviews about service. However, it can really make or break and experience, and I won't be returning to this location, or at least not on a Sunday, for a very long time. The female bartender was a straight up b*tch. Ignored us the entire time, and the nice couple next to us. She didn't ignore the old white guys that walked in or her regulars. The straw that broke the camel's back, was when we asked for more salsa for the tacos, and she replied they didn't have salsa. We responded, well the salsa on the taco, and she replied oh, you mean red sauce? Sarcastically. Food was good. Horrible experience. I meet up with three of my late son's friends every month. I bring my long haired chihuahua puppy in a stroller, so we sit on the patio. The server generally has tables inside as well as ours but we always get good service and the dog gets a lot of attention. The Brussels sprouts and ahi nachos are awesome. read more

I have developed many relationships coming here over the years through staff, and customers. This place has been a family staple of Costa Mesa, and there is no other place like this here. I don't frequent Yard House often but, when I do I feel like I always leave conflicted. The service isn't amazing but the servers are all personable enough that I think I overlook it. The food is good but, I think I the price point causes me to discredit it a bit. The ambience is always loud as expected but, sometimes it can be overwhelming. This visit was during their Octoberfest, and of course we ordered their giant pretzel and stein of beer. The stein is an additional $15 on top of the price of the beer. You get to keep the stein and your presented with a card that allows you to come back for unlimited $5 steins until the end of Octoberfest (which if I remember correctly is the 27th) Pretzel was good, the beer cheese was ok but, not as flavorful as I remember. Additionally we ordered a couple of appetizers (truffle fries and chips and guac) both were good but, I was a bit shocked at the portion sizes. White cheddar burger was juicy and really good, fries that came with were also fried well done as requested. Overall, a solid option for a social gathering/dinner, a bit pricey but, dining out is going to price regardless nowadays so I don't fault the restaurant for that. Irvine Spectrum location will always be my favorite, if you're in the area, this is a solid Yard House to visit. read more

I'm highly disappointed in the service I received by the staff. I called a week ago to reserve a table for 14 for Thursday, 4/23/26 for 6 PM. The staff that answered the phone, I'm assuming it was the hostess, informed me she couldn't accommodate our group because they had a reservation for a party of 50. She took my name and number in case something changed. I didn't hear from anyone at the restaurant until Thursday, 4/23/26 at 6:45 PM. The female asked me if our party was still coming. WHAT?! I was told the reservation wasn't made so our party went somewhere else. Instead of apologizing for THEIR misunderstanding, the female said, "Fine whatever" and hung up. Seriously?! No issues with food today except for the delivery and lack of attention to patrons. We had Vinny as our bartender, he was nice but he forgot a few things here and there. We ordered a pizza and waited for about 30 minutes plus. We checked the receipt and he never put it in. We were trying to get his attention for at least 15 minutes, at this point my boyfriend was already over it. Finally got his attention and asked about our pizza that he didn't put in. He put the pizza in and said he would rush it, he did not once say "My apologies ". He was unaware or just can't multitask. Here because they serve food past 10! We were starving and went to a local bar that kitchen closed last night. They told us to come here and it did not disappoint. We were sat quickly and the menu has so many options to choose from. My husband ordered aCoors light and I ordered a Cosmo. The first Cosmo I ordered came out tasting better than the second. For appetizers I ordered the firecracker shrimp which I finished in minutes. For entrees my husband went with the Korean BBQ sandwich & I played it safe with chicken tenders and truffle parm fries. Everything was delicious and we were stuffed half way thru. Our waiter was very attentive. It was close to 12 and people were still coming in to sit at the bar or eat. This was our second time at the Yard House in Costa Mesa, and sadly, it was a really disappointing experience -- all due to the behavior of our server. We were a group of three adults and two little girls (ages 4 and 10), seated around 6:30 PM. Our server (dark hair, didn't catch her name) came to take drink orders, and things started off on the wrong foot. My brother-in-law and husband ordered first, and while our granddaughters were still deciding between water or something else, she rolled her eyes. I let it slide. When she returned for our food orders, my brother-in-law asked a simple question mid-order about whether something was included. She immediately seemed irritated again, and rolled her eyes a second time. I politely asked, "Are you having a bad day?" Her response? "No, it's just my face. Are you having a bad day?" Extremely rude and unnecessary. She also got our drink orders wrong. My husband ordered a yard drink, and I specifically asked for mine to be in a glass -- they still brought me a yard. I had to return it because I didn't want or order that much. It just added to the frustration. After taking our order, she sarcastically said, "Everything OK? Would you like anything else?" in a clearly mocking tone before walking away. I didn't want to make a scene or take time away from my family, but this server clearly didn't want to be there -- and made that our problem. If she wasn't in the right headspace to provide good service, she should have taken a break or stepped away. This experience really soured what should've been a nice evening. read more

Came here for the second time in one week to give it a second chance at redemption. First time, we sat at the bar and the male bartenders were just not 100%. They took their time and were very slow. For how slow this place was the timing was hella lacking. The bartenders were observed from afar, once again, slow slow service. Cleaning one glass for 2 min while watching the football game on tv. The other bartenders were hiding on the other side. No drinks were ever made our poured from our view side. Then it started to pick up and tables and guests were not greeted within 30 secs to 1 min of them sitting down. More like 2-3 minutes, and that's at the bar. Well, the chips and queso dip had hard cuttings from the chile stem they failed to remove and it stabbed and hurt my tooth. **October 2024: Friday Afternoon** I generally don't visit bars often, but I no longer have a tv and a friend suggested Happy Hour here to enjoy the World Series, so I obliged. The Yard House is located at the Triangle Square and there's ample parking in the structure. There's also several bars on the same floor as the Yard House, so maybe I'll come back to check those out. Happy Hour Deals: They have 1/2 select appetizers so I decided to enjoy a poke nacho (regularly $18, HH: $8). Patrons can order with a waiter/waitress or on the touchscreen menu. It's really cool actually since you can split the bill or pay by item, so no more trying to calculate how much you need to venmo others! There were several tvs around the restaurant so it's a great place to watch a game and during my visit they turned up the volume so we could hear the commentary. Overall, it was a good experience and I would come back to enjoy a game! read more
