I came for happy hour and the food was hot and delicious! The service was great! As soon as I came in the door, I was greeted and placed at a booth of my choice. My server was a very nice and sociable lady by the name of Jaz. She gave me great recommendations for something not so heavy but delicious. Jaz's shift ended, and a very nice gentleman by the name of Jeremiah took over for her! He was very attentive and made he I was comfortable and well taken care of for the rest of my dining visit. The ambiance was upbeat, and the crowds began to come in to enjoy happy hour and the football game on the TV at the bar. Arriving from a rainy drive, we decided on Yard House in Costa Mesa. Early afternoon, we were seated immediately and approached by a server within a couple of minutes. She made great recommendations and ordered our drinks and app. It was not a crazy busy day, so the atmosphere was mellow and appreciated. This restaurant was clean and everyone was greeting. I spoke with Ryker and he was very informative and friendly (: My bf and I were immediately greeted by the hostess and there was no wait time. As we got to our table, our waiter Justin took our drinks and appetizer order! We both got a margarita one Pepino and one Sandia they are both delicious our choice of appetizer was the Miguel's queso dip i def recommend it 10/10! One of our go tos (: The appetizer came out in mins of placing our order and it came out piping out kid you not we both couldn't wait to devour it so most def burnt our tongue i enjoy the ambiance of this place. There's a lot going on but once you're already settled in your table nothing else matters. My bf ordered the house cheesesteak topped with crunchy onions 10/10 i love the onions it help balanced out the entire sandwich. I ordered the Thai pork chops. I honestly was ready to be disappointed lol because most restaurants will overcook pork chops but not Yardhouse! My pork chop was so juicy , so delicious and tender! The flavors were exploding in my mouth. It came with cauliflower rice which i could prob skip it since it was like little bits and some veggies. We also got a dessert ofc! i've loved this place, but i'm currently sitting outside with my dog waiting for my waiter to come outside. we've been sitting outside here for an extra 20 minutes when we needs to get home. when we arrived, several of the tables outside had several dirty dishes on them. even after i sat, no one cleared the dishes until 20-30 minutes later. i fear YH is falling apart read more

Yes, I've been here many times... but I've also lived near here quite a long time too. Used to enjoy showing up at this place with a decent size group and get great food and drink. Now i bring my teen age kids for happy hour to fill them up with half off happy hour food. It is funny since I've never been much of a beer dinner and they have a decent selection, but they also have good food. One time i brought a couple extra teenagers and we ordered a lot of food. Pizza, sliders, nachos, Buffalo wings, lettuce wraps and more. If was all great tasting, plus we ordered a little more for the teens. And it was almost all gone. I've never had bad service at the YH. As a matter of fact, the three different locations I've been to, they've all been consistent in providing good food and service. A consistent Decent place to go to. read more

Wish I could give 4.5 stars, but yelp won't let me. First time in a Yard House. I came with my daughter and her family, we were all in town for a quick getaway. She and her husband had been to Yard House in Vegas and San Francisco, so they wanted to try this one. We were immediately seated after walking in, no wait. We were shown to a comfy booth that fit our party of 6 (3 adults and 3 children). The restaurant was busy, but not packed. There were many TV screens showing various football games (big plus in my book). We didn't have to wait long for our waiter to take our order and start us on our drinks. My daughter ordered a couple of appetizers - spicy ahi nachos and firecracker shrimp. When I first heard ahi and nachos together, I wasn't sure about the combination, but let me tell you, if you like poke, GET IT. It is DELICIOUS! I ate most of it - thanks to the graciousness of my daughter and son-in-law. :) I did try a shrimp from the firecracker shrimp and it was good too, but not as good as the ahi nachos. The rest of order didn't take long, except, that 2 of the kids' orders were wrong. One had ordered a grilled cheese and received grilled chicken pieces with fries, and the other ordered a pepperoni pizza and instead received a cheese pizza (to which my 4 year old grandson asked "where's the pepperoni?" when it was put in front o f him). And ... my order was a cobb salad which I did not get until a few minutes before we left. Needless to say, I did not actually get to eat much of my food until I got back to the hotel. So about that cobb salad - I didn't actually read all of the ingredients and didn't realize until back at the hotel that there was edamame in it. I'm not a fan of edamame in my cobb salad. I've had it with an oriental salad and that works for me, but not in a cobb salad. After removing the edamame, the salad was actually very good and I enjoyed it. The grilled chicken was cooked perfectly, there were big chunks of bleu cheese, lots of real bacon bits, and the grape tomatoes and corn were perfect! Despite the issues above, I wish I could give 4.5 stars because the manager comp'd the kids' meals and my cobb salad. And, most importantly, our waiter came back and apologized profusely. Personally, I believe it takes a lot for someone to own up to and we (myself, my daughter and son-in-law) appreciated his sincere apology. Recommend? Yes and order spicy ahi nachos! Return? If I am ever in the area again, and will definitely visit other Yard House locations. read more

Check your receipts! I placed a pick up order and when I went to pay for it with the lady at the counter, I paid with Apple pay. Once I paid, the lady turned the machine toward her. I had a weird feeling because I didn't select an amount or approve the transaction. So I paused and she asked if I wanted to keep the to go order receipt. Which was the itemized receipt from when the order was placed. I said no, I would like a receipt of the transaction charged on my actual card. I typically would have declined a paper receipt altogether, but I had a weird feeling since she turned the machine and then now offered me the order receipt. She said "oh ok" and printed me the receipt and went to get my order. When she gave me the actual receipt I noticed right away that there was gratuity added. SHE ADDED GRATUITY WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I have worked in the customer service industry and in restaurants my whole life. I know the importance of tips and I am a pretty generous tipper. But she tipped herself on my card and wasn't going to give me a receipt. This is very unprofessional and seems very wrong. If I hadn't asked for a receipt she would have gotten away with it. I didn't tip after that because I was so confused and upset that she would do that. So make sure to check your receipts! The thing is I would have tipped her anyway but since she did it in a shady way, I had her cancel the transaction. But when it came to entrees and second rounds of drinks, the drinks were not all brought out, and a server tried to hand me a wrong order multiple times. Yardhouse was the spot for me in my college days and I honestly forgot how much I loved this place. The happy hour deals are THE BEST here, but I still enjoyed it without happy hour too since we missed it. I ordered the Onion Ring Tower ($10.79) and a pint-sized Angry Orchard Cider ($8). The onion rings are so nicely battered with the perfect crispy crunch. It's stacked in perfect order and pairs so well with the dipping sauces. The Chicken Nachos (but replace with fries) are also a winner here. I honestly forgot how good this spot is. I'd highly recommend Yardhouse for happy hour --no better place! In addition, they have an iPad for paying, which easily helps you separate your checks. This make the process so much simpler for groups. Big plus for this! Happy hour is 3-6pm on weekdays and 10pm to midnight on Sunday to Wednesday! They have half off pizza and selected appetizers --definitely get the frachos and onion rings, yum.
