I am Vietnamese, probably have had hundreds of bowls of pho, mostly in DFW area. Came for the pho, and this is 3/5 stars for sure. Service is quick. Pho is decent, got the Pho Tai (#13) and knew that I would have to ration my meat from the start. Probably 4 oz of meat. Noodle portion is average, I was only 75% full after finishing the whole bowl, which probably shouldn't happen. For $10.15, I'd say there are better values in Austin where you get either more food or better food, such as Tan My. read more

One of my favorites in town for Pho, the chicken is always great quality, unlike some other local spots, and I've tried them all! I've been searching for a place that's as good as Hu Dat in Corpus, and this one is the closest I've found! The drinks that I've tried are great, especially the green tea varieties. Pretty pricey for Vietnamese. The pho did not have similar broth tastes as I'm used to and I normally have pho often. But the prices are pricey. I don't think I'd try it again. Service was good but food was okay and prices were too pricey. I paid $9 for lunch fried rice and $8~ for small bowl of pho. And their small is smaller than other locations. Went there for lunch with some friends-- ordered a vermicilli bowl and didn't like it. I politely asked to switch it out and they said no! What the hell!! Customers are supposed to be right and at least to make the order right if you don't like it. After a while they came back to try and say they would switch it out only just this once after everyone had eaten already. Not a good experience and will not go back at all. BEWARE if you get something you do not like they will not switch it out once it is made!! If so just leave...its not worth arguing over when they are not going to treat you right and get you something else. read more

Failed to meet my expectations on my 3rd visit. I first came here when they opened and they had GREAT shaved ice. I felt that it was of decent value despite paying $10 for ice. That same impression led me to bring some friends here the other week. The quality of the shaved ice has gone south. Its really hard to eat a BIG BOWL of ice without much toppings on it. It was very plain to say the least. Ordered the $10 bowl of shaved ice and there was literally half a mango on there and a few slices of strawberry with tons of empty space. I love eating lunch and getting work done here. They do offer free wifi, but I was able to connect to the Starbucks wifi next door. I ordered the fried lemongrass tofu vermicelli noodle bowl, and it was so good! The sauce that it came with was tangy and spicy and was perfect with the noodles. I would say that my meal was pretty healthy because it was just rice noodles, raw veggies (cucumbers, bean sprouts, and carrots), and tofu! The lemongrass tofu was so delicious, you can't even tell that it's tofu because of the way they season and prepare it. The owner was very nice and explained the menu to us. He was also very patient when we didn't know how to pour the Vietnamese iced coffee. It was very empty when I came here, so I think it's a great alternative to studying at Starbucks- you can sit anywhere you want, they have coffee, they have boba, they have food, and they have desserts. Had high hopes for this restaurant since it's across the street from my office. Luckily I was not disappointed! I had a large pho tai chin and it was packed with meat and the broth was just right. Turned out it was a very good choice. They offer a nice selection of bahn mi sandwiches, pho, and fried rice. I elected for a BBQ pork bahn mi and a small meatball pho. The bahn mi was delicious and the bread was particularly good. The small pho was HUGE. I ate half and still had a large takeout container to bring home. And it's delicious! I can't say I've tried their actual food, but if you're looking for a dessert cafe, their shaved ice is AWESOME, I think some of the best I've ever had (and I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area, where Asian-style shaved ice is everywhere, be it Korean, Taiwanese, Filipino, etc). The Texan (name of shaved ice dish) is definitely enough for 6-8 people (which would make it a very inexpensive treat, like $2-2.50 per person), with shaved ice sweetened with condensed milk, lots of very fresh fruit and way more scoops of super creamy ice cream than we expected! The service was very friendly, and the whole establishment was very clean. My group was totally sold on the place, at the very least for a dessert destination! We're so glad to try out YaYa Cafe & Shaved Ice. I order the chinese soup (Hu Tieu). The broth smell very good and tasty. My Boyfriend had fried rice. He said is a thumb up from him, taste really good and it's not greasy like First Chinese BBQ. End up he order another one to go for dinner. Last, we order shave ice for dessert. Decent pho for a decent price! The staff was friendly and they brought out our meals pretty quick. Their regular sized Pho bowls are the size of a small at some of the other local Pho places (for reference) but their flavor is spot on! I gotr the vegetarian Pho and it was loaded with veggies and tofu. My only complaint is that we ordered the shrimp/pork spring rolls and there was almost NO pork and a lot of shrimp?
