This review is only for the shaved ice, not the food. I really have no desire to try the food because I believe I can get better Vietnamese food for cheaper at other places around town. It's hard to find good shaved ice here in Austin, so I was excited when I heard about this place. The shaved ice is good for Austin. I like it better than Coco's because I like how they incorporate the condensed milk with the ice that way it's all mixed in pretty well. They give you a generous amount of fresh fruit, and a good scoop of ice cream. The small is big enough to share with two people, but I still found it pretty pricey. I'm glad that I don't crave shaved ice all that much because I think I'll just fulfill my shaved ice cravings when I visit Houston. read more

Yaya is fast and delicious. It is my go-to I'm hungry NOW for real good food. The man that owns it (or manages it) is always there and super friendly. Also, The noodle bowls are awesome because they include a lot of vegetables (like bean sprouts and shaved carrot noodles) so it isn't as heavy as many other asian restaurants. They got my order wrong even though I was the only customer, the eggrolls were so cold that I swear they took it out of the freezer and served it, and the shaved ice was disappointing and expensive for what it was (shaved frozen water, a few sliced strawberries, a scoop of mediocre ice-cream, and a couple spoonfuls of condensed milk). One of my favorites in town for Pho, the chicken is always great quality, unlike some other local spots, and I've tried them all! I've been searching for a place that's as good as Hu Dat in Corpus, and this one is the closest I've found! The drinks that I've tried are great, especially the green tea varieties. Pretty pricey for Vietnamese. The pho did not have similar broth tastes as I'm used to and I normally have pho often. But the prices are pricey. I don't think I'd try it again. Service was good but food was okay and prices were too pricey. I paid $9 for lunch fried rice and $8~ for small bowl of pho. And their small is smaller than other locations. Went there for lunch with some friends-- ordered a vermicilli bowl and didn't like it. I politely asked to switch it out and they said no! What the hell!! Customers are supposed to be right and at least to make the order right if you don't like it. After a while they came back to try and say they would switch it out only just this once after everyone had eaten already. Not a good experience and will not go back at all. BEWARE if you get something you do not like they will not switch it out once it is made!! If so just leave...its not worth arguing over when they are not going to treat you right and get you something else. read more

Failed to meet my expectations on my 3rd visit. I first came here when they opened and they had GREAT shaved ice. I felt that it was of decent value despite paying $10 for ice. That same impression led me to bring some friends here the other week. The quality of the shaved ice has gone south. Its really hard to eat a BIG BOWL of ice without much toppings on it. It was very plain to say the least. Ordered the $10 bowl of shaved ice and there was literally half a mango on there and a few slices of strawberry with tons of empty space. Definitely felt like I got screwed out of my money on this one. I hope they can bring back some value into their food especially when someone is paying $10 for ice. read more

I love eating lunch and getting work done here. They do offer free wifi, but I was able to connect to the Starbucks wifi next door. I ordered the fried lemongrass tofu vermicelli noodle bowl, and it was so good! The sauce that it came with was tangy and spicy and was perfect with the noodles. I would say that my meal was pretty healthy because it was just rice noodles, raw veggies (cucumbers, bean sprouts, and carrots), and tofu! The lemongrass tofu was so delicious, you can't even tell that it's tofu because of the way they season and prepare it. The owner was very nice and explained the menu to us. He was also very patient when we didn't know how to pour the Vietnamese iced coffee. It was very empty when I came here, so I think it's a great alternative to studying at Starbucks- you can sit anywhere you want, they have coffee, they have boba, they have food, and they have desserts. It was a pretty good amount of food for the pho I really like the smoothie the service was a little iffy but oh my goodness the BBQ pork banh mi was insane I have not had a better tasting pork sandwich in austin. Had high hopes for this restaurant since it's across the street from my office. Luckily I was not disappointed! I had a large pho tai chin and it was packed with meat and the broth was just right. Savory and not over salted. I topped the meal off with a cafe sua da for dessert and was very pleased with the size and taste of the coffee. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Turned out it was a very good choice. They offer a nice selection of bahn mi sandwiches, pho, and fried rice. I elected for a BBQ pork bahn mi and a small meatball pho. The bahn mi was delicious and the bread was particularly good. The small pho was HUGE. I ate half and still had a large takeout container to bring home. And it's delicious! Randomly stopped here for some coffee after getting stuck in grueling traffic on our way to Austin...what a happy surprise! This place is pretty good! I live right down the street so I was ready to eat there ever since I saw the signs! I love their lemongrass tofu ban-mi and their noodle bowls. I go there at least once a week for take-out, I find it funny that they've been experimenting with different versions of french fries and different packaging since they've opened. The price is really good also! The only thing that took some stars away is that twice I've been there and they were out of baguette bread, but thankfully they have other awesome menu items! read more
