We ordered the Yea's Fried Rice, Cashew Chicken, Mongolian Chicken, and the Salt and Pepper Shrimp. Here's my break down... Yea's Fried Rice: 3. Really liked the fact that there was a no soy sauce fried rice option. Good mild flavor that really complemented the entrees we ordered. Portion size: great! If you're expecting the fried rice that you get at Ding Tai Fung-you'll be disappointed, but if you need a fried rice fix-it'll get the job done. Cashew Chicken: 3.5. Loved the veggies in this entree. Chicken was tender. Loved the brown sauce for this dish. Mongolian Chicken: 3. Great portion size! It was a little too saucy/liquidy for what I'm used to with any Mongolian stir fry , but all the flavors were there and was enjoyable. I just mixed up my fried rice with the sauce and worked out just fine. Salt and Pepper Shrimp: 3.5 I had high hopes for this as I love shell-on, head-on salt and pepper shrimp. Don't get me wrong all the flavors were there, but maybe too much flavor. I enjoyed the very lightly breaded shrimp, garlic, green onion, and jalapeño peppers in it. Everything comes wrapped in a thick gooey sauce. Same broken flavor across majority of the preparation. We ordered skillet seared fish and Sichuan chicken. Both had the same veggies and the same sauce except one had chicken and the other fish. This place has deteriorated from good to worst. The serving portion is good for 3 people but who wants to eat all that gooey saucy food? It would make so much sense to reduce the quantity in thirds and slash the price into half. Haven't been there for a while and decided to do a take out tonight. Was totally shocked by how bad everything tastes now. Was searching for a good Chinese place outside the city, and this was the first one that seemed to be well rated, so wanted to give it a try. I was impressed by their large menu, which seemed to have any dish you could want. Ordered takeout (as they are not currently doing dine-in service) and was ready in 20 minutes. We ordered the yea's fried rice, fried potstickers, mu shu pork, general tso's chicken, walnut shrimp and a cup of wonton soup. Came to just under $80, and it was a LOT of food. Portions were extremely generous in my opinion, and we could have easily fed 5 people. Ordering process was easy, they were very clear on the phone. Now for the food itself: Wonton soup: complete let down. Tasteless, not worth eating. Fried rice: Fine. Nothing crazy good, tasty enough. They use chicken, shrimp and pork in the yea's fried rice (which is combination fried rice without the say sauce), and I can't understand why they wouldn't use pork or even better BBQ instead of chicken because that has a much richer flavor for the rice. Potstickers: I myself did not try but my boyfriend said not worth eating and we ended up throwing out. Mu Shu pork: I thought the best thing we got. Well made, tasty. Yea's Wok, an authentic Chinese restaurant known to locals, is a MUST TRY for all! Yea's Wok not only has some of the best Chinese food in all of the Seattle area but also some of the most delicious dishes that I've ever had (even beating many restaurants in SF's Chinatown!). My friends and I ordered 6 dishes: the world-renowned General Tso's Chicken, the overflowing Volcano Fried Rice, the rich and divine Eggplant w/ Ground Pork in Chili Sauce, the flavorful Kung Pao Chicken and Shrimp, and the traditionally made Egg Flower and Hot and Sour Soups. All of these dishes exceeded my expectations. My compliments must be given to the General Tso's Chicken - it is truly Yea's Wok's signature dish. I could eat their General Tso's Chicken all day. The chicken is lightly costed and perfectly seasoned - which is quite rare to find in a Chinese restaurant. On top of that, the chicken has a nice tangy flavor that makes you want to eat more of it. Other favorites include the Eggplant w/ Ground Pork, Volcano Fried Rice, and the Chinese soups. Yea's Wok's eggplant is THE BEST! I cannot emphasize how much I love their eggplant. The eggplant is abundantly sauced in an umami flavor with a hint of spiciness. The eggplant is both tender and rich, and is perfect to eat with rice. Furthermore, the Volcano Fried Rice is an interesting concept. Usually fried rice is mixed prior to being served. However, Yea's Wok prepares a fried rice dish that legit looks like a volcano of rice that is bursting with a lava flow of meats and vegetables. The unique presentation and the savory meats in the dish are making my mouth water right now! Lastly, as for the soups, both are full of flavor and are perfect for a nice rainy day; they are both soothing to the soul and make my taste buds dance. The Egg Flower Soup is more savory, while the Hot and Sour Soup is mildly spicy and sour. One thing that I noticed is that these soups usually have MSG, but Yea's Wok does NOT use MSG in their soups. For producing soups that are simply flavorful and tasty - without using MSG - is truly a hard task. And for this, Yea's Wok is worthy of the utmost praise! Last but not least, I can't forget to mention Yea's Wok service. Shoutout to Justin, a down-to-earth and friendly waiter who invites you into the Yea's Wok family and treats you with the utmost hospitality. Justin's waitering skills are some of the finest I've ever seen, and he serves to be an example for other waiters across the restaurant industry. Although I just found out about Yea's Wok, Justin, thank you for treating my friends and I like family. We hope that we'll be able to get to know you and your co-workers better in the coming years. Yea's Wok, thank you for producing some of the best food in the Seattle area! My only regret is that I wish I found out about y'all sooner. Tl;dr good Chinese food, but it's on the pricier side I've been coming here for years and its consistently been an awesome restaurant to go to. The food tastes really good and they can accommodate large groups which makes this place popular for those large Chinese (or any) family gatherings. Most dishes I've had here were great and came with a good amount of food for the price. My personal favorites have been spinach sauteed with chicken, orange chicken/beef, and sauteed string beans with ground pork. Personally, I think a couple places in Chinatown have better food, but for the eastside, its hard to beat Yea's. Just be prepared to spend around $15 a dish for dinner. read more

There is only one Yea's. 10 dollars for a massive lunch of chicken teriyaki unlike any other in the area combined with fried rice, and tea. Legendary. I've eaten at Yea's many times. I always seem to get the Chicken Teriyaki - though sometimes Mongolian Beef works its way in. 2.5 Stars. People, this is NOT, I repeat, NOT Chinese food. What it is, is good Americanized Chinese food. Keep in mind we were loyal customers from 20 years under original ownership from Peter so I have different, better experiences here. It was very popular back then and remains so today, I've been here at least 50x. Yea's has found a successful recipe to find repeat customers and I applaud them for that. Sadly, this is my last voluntary visit to Yea's. There is no complex or memorable flavors in any of their food. It is like they cook everything in the same method, which tastes bland. Don't get me wrong, none of it tastes bad at all. It is just that everything has this light starch, pasty taste and texture to it. The service is adequate, food comes fast enough. Again, Yea's great job in finding a successful recipe for repeat customer, but to those that want flavorful, authentic, Chinese food, don't expect it here. Yea's Wok offers a mix of authentic and Americanized Chinese dishes, but it's really good if you're craving Americanized Chinese. This place will definitely satisfy the unhealthy and oily but so delicious craving. The place is really popular so don't be surprised if you see a lot of people standing by the door and entrance. The dining area doesn't look that large but they do have a back room on the side that seats larger parties. When there aren't large parties to seat, they ask if you would be willing to share a community table. They will leave a seat or two between you and the next party though. People are friendly and just want to eat so sharing a table is not that big of a deal. The menu is just a long list of items. It would be more helpful if they were potentially sorted by category but it's still manageable. There are no pictures or descriptions of the dish so be careful when you order. You may get something that you weren't expecting. At lunch, every dish comes with a mound of fried rice as well as your choice of soup: egg flower or hot and sour. The egg flower soup is pretty standard. Nothing that stood out but wasn't bad either. It's nice to have something to sip on while you're waiting for your food and it's so warming especially when it's cold outside. I tried the lemon chicken because it sounded interesting and appetizing. Since there are no pictures I had no idea what to expect. This dish is fried chicken smothered in a lemon sauce that reminds me of the sauce they use in sweet and sour chicken. However, the sauce is definitely a lemony orange color and has a tangy flavor to it. The lemon flavor is very subtle so it is not as acidic as you may think. The sauce that is both tangy, sweet and savory compliments the fried chicken well. I also tried the string beans with chicken. If you're a string bean/green bean fan, then this dish may excite you. It comes with a lot more greens than protein. In fact, they make sure the greens are the star of the dish and that the chicken isn't overpowering. The slices of chicken are quite thin and seasoned well from the greens. The only complaint would be that the string beans weren't that plump. They were more on the wimpy, sad side. But I love string beans none the less. The fried rice probably could have used more oomph to it, but fried rice is always a welcoming sight when you're craving Americanized Chinese food. Each dish also comes with two pieces of what seems to be like a crispy wonton? I wasn't a huge fan of it, but it does come with the meal. Service wise, the servers didn't come around very often but I didn't feel like it was really necessary. My tea was always refilled since they leave the teapot there with you. I didn't have any issues with the food and really didn't need anything else. It was pretty easy to flag someone down when we needed our check. Price was, the place is pretty cheap for the amount of food you get on one plate. I was actually quite surprised by each portion size all for $8-10. The bill without tip was a little less than $20 and I definitely was stuffed. Glad there were so many different components to a main entree. If you order during the week, the quality is much lower than on Friday, Saturday. The decor is straight out of the early 90s. I think we had around 6 different dishes including the fried rice, chow mein, orange chicken, Mongolian beef, scallops delight, and honey walnut shrimp. Like I mentioned the food was amazing. However, our dinning experience that night was not the best. We ordered 6 dishes, had our own individual plates, plus our water, and tea so we had trouble fitting at the table they put us at. We asked for a larger table and they were really hesitant saying that we could fit here. I think it had to do with dirtying up another table as they were cleaning up. Also, the staff kept mopping the floors all around us as we were eating. I didn't mind the mopping however the smell was terrible. It absolutely tainted our food. We kept breathing in Pine Sol all throughout dinner. That was very unpleasant as it ruined the food and unfortunately our dinning experience. So although the prices are a little high, the amount of food you get is justified. The flavors are good. However, it feels a little oily and heavy to me. We could not eat it, and it was left on the table since we detested our chicken and vegetarian dishes.
