The first time i had Yes Thai was moving day and i ordered the Broccoli rice dish. It was not good at all. It was that sugary goopy sauce you'd expect from a shady Chinese joint. However because it is right by where i live i ordered it again and found the Broccoli to be the only bad dish i've had. the Ginger rice dish is fantastic and light, as are the spring rolls. The waitress definitely got my order wrong, but the mixup was not too big of a deal, so I ate it anyway & was pleasantly surprised, but still not completely overwhelmed. My daughter and I are always trying out new Thai restaurants, and tonight we went to Yes Thai. By far, the best we've had in Chicago! The food was extremely fresh and perfectly cooked! We started with the vegetable egg rolls which were to die for! The sweet sauce was the best sweet sauce at any Thai restaurant we've tried! My daughter LOVED her pad see eiw! And the pad kee mao with tofu was the best I've ever had! Although small, the look of the restaurant is very unique and has a very mod look, unlike your typical Thai restaurant. The outdoor seating is also charming. And the wait staff were the friendliest, most attentive we've ever experienced! They asked if it was our first time there, and when we replied yes, they returned at the end of our meal with a huge piece of unbelievably delicious tiramisu ice cream cake with homemade whipped cream!! We couldn't believe it. And our tab was only $24! Overall, a GREAT experience! Yes Thai seems to have better "fit and finish" than other Thai Restaurants. The menus, the flatware, the plates and glasses are all just a bit nicer than you'd expect at this price point. We just ate here again. It's been a while. I'm reminded of how much we like it. I love this place, it's absolutely fantastic! I go here all the time with my husband and I love the Pad Thai so much that i can never get anything else lol. Their Crab Rangoon is perfect, it's crunchy and has a really nice taste to it. I always get my Pad Thai with chicken and it's always cooked perfectly, i can taste all of the flavors in one bite. We usually get takeout from here, i've never actually eaten inside the restaurant but when i go to pick up my food I like the environment of the place, it's really mellow and laid back. THIS PLACE IS DELICIOUS. I got the pad see eiw with beef and a thai iced tea. both were phenomenal. The pad see eiw was delicious the noodles perfectly cooked and the perfect amount of beef. Maybe the broccoli could be smaller pieces cuz they were rather large but i cannot complain as the taste won me over. The tea was also so delicious. this is definitely one of the top thai places in the city. the red curry is absolutely incredible. the garlic noodle or rice dish is also so garlicky and so yummy. for appetizers, i recommend the chicken satay with peanut sauce, the spring rolls and shrimp rolls. also, there is NO CORKAGE FEE which is so awesome given that some restaurants charge per bottle. the restaurant is small and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. the flavors and spices are perfect. highly recommended! read more

I used to live down the alley from Yes Thai and I could smell the food everyday. Somehow, the smell never got old and I used to eat there and/or carryout A LOT. This is a neighborhood gem and a great family business. I always wave when I walk by. Also, the vegetable are always fresh, never overcooked, and the sauce is always flavorful. The garlic dish with rice is my favorite because it's flavorful, not too oily or thick, and it's loaded with veggies. I miss living 50 feet from this place!! read more

We've been looking for a place than can deliver heat for the adults and mild items for the kids. The baby egg rolls were a critical item in my house. First they put tofu in my mixed vegetables instead of chicken (and my receipt clearly said chicken) and second my daughter's Pad See Eiw was pretty much inedible. Easily 5 stars. Living as close as I do for as long as I have, I've probably had everything on the menu, and I've never been disappointed. My favorites are the Basil Duck, Ginger Tofu, Phuket Ki Mao Shrimp and Tom Yum Soup. They remodeled the dining room a couple years ago and made it kind of a date place. A little odd, in my opinion, since it's really more of a neighborhood place, but they definitely did a good job. They pay attention to all the little details here from the sleek dinnerware to the quality shopping bags they use for carryout orders to the little taffy candies in the awesome, fish-shaped glass bowl on the counter. The prices are really reasonable for the quality. My only beef is $5.50 for spring rolls seems a little high, but, honestly, I haven't eaten Thai food anywhere else for so long that I don't know what other places are charging these days. Their portions aren't huge by American standards, but I never leave hungry. Good Thai places are not hard to find in this city, but Yes Thai is a cut above the rest. Yes is hit-or-miss. It's near my apartment, so I've gone on more than one occasion even though it's not outstanding. The crab rangoon and spinach rangoon are GREAT - crispy, with lots of filling. Pad Sei Eiw is my one of my go-to dishes. With tofu, it's very good here. I once got it with shrimp and the shrimp tasted...not fresh. They kindly replaced my order with tofu, no questions asked. The Drunken Noodles and Pad Thai are good, but not the best I've ever had. A friend once got a peanut-sauce chicken dish that he liked quite a bit. Yes's interior is one narrow dining room that is all white and very sleek looking. Their hours seem to be irregular. I once walked by in the late afternoon and saw a man sleeping in one of their booths! (An employee or the owner I presume.) This place is almost OK... The inside is very modern looking, small and inviting. It's a bit pricey considering the quality of the food. Several of their items are overly spicey masking the true flavor. I've had one or two noodle dishes that seemed to me to just be really bland... I live nearby Yes Thai and typically have decent service there. However, I placed a pickup order at 7pm on a Wednesday night and was still waiting for my food at 7:57pm. I watched a woman come into the restaurant at 7:25 (my original pickup time), place an order, and walk out with her food before mine was done. I didn't order anything complicated or time-consuming. When I asked what was going on, they smiled and ignored me. No offer of something to compensate for my time, nothing. So insulting! read more

There is a terrible Thai place next door to where I work, and it makes me so ANGRY because I know how great Thai food can be! I love and am picky about Thai food and I'm pretty impressed with this place. The food is on point! Delicious, not greasy, good portion sizes, good spicy level, lots of choices. [Hahaha omg I just pulled up the website for the first time and it's HILARIOUS, ok back to the review]. The Prik King Catfish is great; the catfish was just the right crispy level and nice texture, not like some places where the fish is mushy (ew!!). The vegetables are cooked perfectly with that little bit of snap. Yummy. I also recommend the Phuket Kee Mao Shrimp special (the shrimp are huge too!). It's not as cheap as a lotta other Thai joints, but you get what you pay for I guess, and I think it's worth it here. As for service, to be fair, I always come after work around 8:45-9ish on weekdays and it's pretty slow, so I always get fast, nice service. The same two guys are always there when I go, and they recognize me and are so super nice. Tip: it's tiny in there, so I anticipate it gets packed on weekends. Also, try to get a seat away from the door during these cold months because when it closes sorta slowly and I get cold! read more

I haven't dined at this place but ordered food for delivery, twice. And the food was delicious, both times! I ordered the Pad Prik rice the first time and the Thai Fried rice the second time. Both dishes were amazing and I'd really recommend the Pad Prik rice. Besides the food, the delivery time was as expected and I didn't face any hassles.
