    Tom Yum Omelet Rice
    Mabel H.

I love walking down College Ave to window shop and Yimm is on the way near Safeway/Philz! It's a pretty big space with cozy lighting, and the friendly staff made it a warm atmosphere for a Friday night. Since it's a long weekend, we said f*** it to caffeine in the late evening and all got Thai Tea ($5) LOL Tom Kha Noodle Soup with Chicken ($18): My friend loved this! She got to choose the noodle type between flat, thin, or egg noodle. It's a lot of soup and can definitely save to take home. Tom Yum Omelet Rice ($20): I wasn't too wowed by this with the price point, but I did love the Tom Yum sauce which was what I was craving. It's medium spicy. Next time I'll get the Tom Yum noodle soup which is my usual go-to pick. Not pictured is the Pa-lo ($19) that my friend got which has 3 hour braised pork belly; he enjoyed it! Everything is braised together in the same sauce. Thank you Yimm for your hospitality!

Very impressed! as you may know, in the berkeley area Thai restaurants are a dime a dozen, so it really takes some good Thai food to stand out, and I'm glad to say that Yimm does just that We arrived Sunday evening and were able to get seated instantly. We ordered the avocado green curry and the Pad Kee Mao. we had asked for spicy and they delivered - I have yet to work up to asking for thai spicy but definitely next time. the pad kee mao was flavorful and the portions were excellent. For the avocado green curry, I would also give it high marks for flavor and the chunks of avocado in the curry were so tasty

I had been craving thai food lately, but after going to imm thai and little plearn so many times, I wanted a bit of a change of pace. Yimm ended up being exactly that. It felt novel and a lot more relaxed. We went on a monday night, so that probably helped. The interior is beautiful, everything felt spacious with an intentional rustic feel. They also have a bar area with great decor that adds a lot to the atmosphere. Food-wise, the standout for me was the duck noodle soup. It was really flavorful, tasted sweet soy sauce-forward at first, but then the five spice and duck really come through as you're chewing on the noodles. Would have preferred the noodles to have a bit more chew, but can't really complain with this having better broth than any other duck noodle soup in berkeley that I've tried so far. We also ordered the pa-lo. had some similar sweet soy sauce notes, but what really stood out was how tender, fatty, and satisfying the pork was. It came with fried tofu and boiled eggs, and altogether it was super hearty and comforting, especially with rice. The avocado green curry was also really good. I'm someone who really appreciates lots of vegetables in curry, and this one delivered. There were plenty of veggies and a solid amount of beef. The avocado added an interesting creamy texture, especially against the crunchier vegetables and slightly firmer beef. Flavor wise the curry was rich, balanced, and the perfect level of spice! The only dish that didn't totally wow me was the pad see ew. It was still good but not particularly memorable. I still prefer the pad see ew at imm thai. This one had a good amount of pork, but I wish it had more Chinese broccoli, and the portion ran a little smaller than imm thai. Service was excellent throughout the meal. They checked on us regularly without being intrusive, refilled our water, cleared plates as we finished dishes, and even asked whether we wanted extra condiments. They had a nice selection with chili flakes and a fish sauce with chilies, plus a few other additions. We left super satisfied. The atmosphere was great, the service was fantastic, and the food was satisfying across the board. Definitely worth the trip from berkeley, especially if you want thai food in a more relaxed setting.

Came for lunch and was delish. It wasn't busy and got seated right away. It's bright, spacious, and clean inside. Service was great and friendly. I tried the papaya salad and pa-lo. The papaya salad was great and had a nice kick of spice to it. Flavor was bright and I like that the shrimp was warm. The pa-lo had good flavor and appreciate that it came with rice. The pork belly was tender but some was almost too too fatty. The flavor of the sauce/broth was light and a bit sweet. Everything was filling and delish.

Amazing Thai restaurant in Oakland's Rockridge neighborhood! I'm a big fan of their sister restaurant Imm Thai, so I was really excited to try out this restaurant. This restaurant is slightly different from Imm Thai's, with a more higher end presentation, while Imm has a greater focus on street food. I decided to get their Tom Yum Omelette Rice because it looked the most enticing to me. It was delicious! I love the tom yum flavor infused in the rice and the fluffy egg on top. Do keep in mind that this is more on the spicy side (I thought it was a good spice level, but I personally enjoy spicy food). I also got to try a few of my friends' dishes including the Pad Kee Mao and the Tom Yum soup. The Pad Kee Mao is also quite spicy, but both dishes were also packed with flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice and elegant, while the service was friendly and efficient. We went at 7:00PM on a Wednesday night, and there were not that many people in the restaurant. Definitely a restaurant on my recommended list!

I highly recommend the tom yum omelette rice. Great flavor and great service. I would definitely come back here to try other dishes. It was also clean and spacious inside with lots of tables and a full bar. The street its on is also a nice walkable area.

We visited Yimm and tried the chicken satay, shrimp pad Thai, beef salad, and the eggplant with tofu served with riceberry rice. While the pad Thai seems to be the most popular dish from Yelp reviews, it wasn't my wife's favorite. Instead, the beef salad and the eggplant tofu with riceberry rice were the clear standouts. Both were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The sauces across dishes really hit the mark--bright, layered, and spot on. We also enjoyed the outdoor seating, which added to the relaxed vibe. Just a tip: if you're dining around sunset, bring a hat or sunglasses, since the sun shines directly onto the patio. Overall, Yimm impressed us with bold Thai flavors and thoughtful preparation. We'd gladly return, especially for the beef salad and eggplant tofu with riceberry rice.

birthday dinner! cuter interior than imm thai, loved the vibes. yummy pad kee mao! very flavorful, very spicy. would try more on their menu next time!

Really great service and 10/10 mango sticky rice. Would come back just for the dessert! The spring roll was vegetarian, but good and fresh. Looks like a small business with everything tasting great!

Kind of bummed about this visit as I had higher expectations coming in. Everything were ordered was on the saltier side, and unnecessarily so. The garlic pork I ordered was a bit hard to chew as well and I wasn't a big fan. Similar verdict for the mango sticky rice dessert, way too sweet with the concentrated coconut milk that it overpowers the mango's taste. Whatever they are cooking in the kitchen, they need to dial it back a notch.

My friends and I wanted to try out new Thai spots and Yimm impressed us! We picked menu items we wouldn't find in our usual Thai spots.. and the Tom Yum Omelet Rice was incredibleeee (shout out to our server for recommending!). The pandan custard bread wasn't too sweet which we loved. Those 2 dishes were the standouts of our meal for me. The atmosphere is very modern and the staff is really kind!

    Suraj P.

Been here many times but this was the first time I had tried the noodle soup and it was really delicious! Tom yum is my favorite Thai soup and the addition of the noodles with some veggies really made for a great combo. The service is always very quick and the servers are very nice. I love that they also have a cozy outside seating section so we can bring our dog as well. The afternoon gets a bit of sun in the front as well which is nice! Definitely worth checking out!

We all split all the specialty cocktails and I got the Khao Pad Kang Kiew (rice with eggplant and chicken topped with a fried egg). Dishes are $20-23 ish each. We were seated at the 6 person table in the back of the restaurant near the bathroom. My favorite drinks were their take on a hard thai iced tea, the lavender mojito, a take on an espresso martini. There was also this spicy drink that had thai chilis in it that is VERY spicy lol. Pros: - the rice dish was DELICIOUS and also huge haha. Came with cucumbers to cut the peppery flavor if needed. - All the cocktails were pretty different and it was fun to try all of them. I was really craving the sweet, earthy flavor of eggplant so while lots of protein was greatly appreciated I did wish there was more eggplant in the dish. Overall, service was good and they checked in on us a few times to make sure all is good. Food: - Nam Khao was fantastic. Crispy rice, the mixed minced vegetables, and the cooked sausage. Together with the lime that you can squeeze to preference, it was delicious! Haven't had Nam Khao this delicious in a while! - Pad See Ew with pork was alright. It was cooked well and a little on the sweeter side rather than savory, but missing the smoky flavor "wok hei" that would take this to the next level that I love. - Fried Sweet Fish was alright too. Fish is fried with a very thin batter but it had black pepper which my kids doesn't want as they're sensitive to anything spicy. The fish had a light fishy taste to it (fresh water fish) which would be better if they even use a little ginger to cut the fishy taste for a better taste. - Guay Tiew is very similar to Pad See Ew with the exception that it had a fried egg on the top and had seafood (shrimp and squid). - Vientiane Crispy Roll is different from regular egg rolls. Made with rice paper roll so it was crispy but also chewy, which is different and may not be what everyone is used to. Will return to try out other dishes.

There were so many layers of flavors and textures from the fish sauce, the peanuts, and the fermented sour pork. If there's one dish you must order when you stop by here, it's this one. Another dish I really enjoyed was the Sai Oua; I get this dish whenever I see it at restaurants. The crispy pork belly was another standout dish for me. If you enjoy Filipino lechon or Cantonese siu yuk, this is another must-order dish. This is our go-to Restaurant, this year for Thanksgiving & Christmas both. Friends who joined us were impressed with the food & were very interested to know the name & location of this restaurant. Now my In-Laws like to order Take Out more often, and they always want to order Thai food! It used to be they wanted Indian food, which we love but truly had not found satisfactory in the past. I'm so glad because Thai Taste Kitchen doesn't disappoint! They have been impeccable about marking the containers & even packaging meat vs vegetarian items in separate bags, and they allow specifics like "no shrimp paste" or whatever, more of "this" or none of "that". White Rice included free with entrees thst are not noodle or rice based, and if you prefer individual instead of family style, you can add an appetizer to each entree individually for about $5-$6, which is about the same as splitting an appetizer order in half, but sometimes people prefer a different appetizer. I like to avoid fried foods, for example, but others love egg rolls or fried chicken (was that an appetizer or an entree?) Thai Iced Tea comes in one size only, and it's small, but consider the calories. This is probably best in small size & I was thoroughly satisfied, I had not indulged for many, many years and it was so delicious. If possible, get it with no ice so it doesn't melt on the way to your destination, you can add your own ice once you get there. Tbh, I started drinking it immediately & finished it in about 10 min, since my husband was driving. Treat yourselves & I think you'll be really glad you found this place. One caveat, they are short staffed so keep that in mind if you eat in the restaurant, I believe only one person is serving tables and may also handle the register, so it may require patience. The beauty of Take Out is we can set out a buffet, everyone grabs a plate & chooses ehat they like, and we can reheat warm items in the microwave in about a minute, and it tastes it's best hot.
