Solid 4/5. I wish they had a bit more authentic Chinese cuisine like dim sum and other dishes but this is still real good Chinese place. Plus they say they don't use MSG which a lot of places do. We finally have two decent Chinese restaurants in Redmond. One is relatively new (I reviewed it earlier), but Yi's Wok has been around for years and has just got better as time goes on. The current management bought it from a lovely Chinese family who had to sell for health concerns in a family member, or so I've heard. I'm happy to see the restaurant is often busy with diners and takeout customers. The waitstaff is great - hard working and helpful. For those who bemoan the availability of decent egg foo young in Redmond - and I agree the thawed-out egg hockey pucks which are everywhere here do not qualify as decent - here's a tip. I used to have to make my own too, but if you go to Yi's, ask for their Shrimp Chow Don. It's not on the regular menu (they'll probably hate me for saying this ha) - but they do have a charge for it entered on their cash register screen, so let the server know this if you get a "huh?" look. You can sub chicken for it if you'd rather, and I always ask for a little bit of of egg foo young gravy on the side. It'll come on your plate like a large frittata, and is quite good, especially for those of us in egg foo young withdrawal. I'm not used to having snow peas with my eggs, but they're actually tasty. Since it's made fresh, you can always ask them to leave out the peapods. My other favorite dish there is their dry stir fried green beans - well seasoned and plenty for leftovers for a few days at home. Thanks to everyone at Yi's. You are appreciated! read more

The gal checking people out is kind and was wearing a mask, however the last time I was in, I saw two people in the back that weren't wearing masks. I have recently come back from Arizona and was looking for some good Chinese food and went to the best place in the area(Redmond/Bend). Even though Yi's always looks like a very unassuming place with empty tables throughout, there food is outstanding. In the last week I have had there House Stir Fried Noodles which comes with beef, chicken, pork and shrimp, a nice brown sauce and a ton of fresh veggies. For lunch I had there Chicken with Cashews , choice of soup (egg drop or hot and sour) and hot tea for only $6.95. Plenty of food is the norm at this establishment. The owners are very friendly. We went to Yi's because we were not that impressed with Chan's the last time we ate there. Yi's was empty on a Friday night, and I don't know why! This place was super tasty and the service was excellent (of course, we were the only ones there, so take that with a grain of salt). We ordered tea, beer, and dumplings (pan fried) to start and they were easily the best dumplings I've ever had at a restaurant. Thick and chewy wrappers that were perfectly crisp, with a succulent pork and veggie filling. I crave them even now. Dinner was perfectly cooked: mother's chicken, which I've never seen on any Portland, OR area Chinese menu, was crispy and sweet with a little bit of a kick. YUM. My partner got the kung pao chicken and we've been enjoying for the last few days cuz THE PORTIONS. I think it's safe to say we found our new favorite chinese place next time the craving strikes. I can't wait to go back and try their General Tso's which is my typical measuring stick for chinese. The only reason why I am not giving 5 starts is the building itself could use some updating and we happened to sit right by a neon sign that was kinda annoying to our eyes. Love Yi's! Fresh perfectly cooked veggies every time. I like my veg to still have a crunch. I have never had a overly salty fish. The hot mustard is nose dripping spicy. Pretty disappointing. Sweet and sour chicken of small pieces of chicken wrapped in a thick coating of batter, then ( I assume) fried in oil, with a side sauce to pour over the chicken. We were visiting Redmond for the first time and looking for a hearty meal. Placed our order online and food was quick. Ordered orange chicken and kung pao chicken and they did not disappoint. Food was fresh and I especially love that the Orange chicken was just lightly battered and you actually get meat instead of a chunk of flour. We really love Yi's Wok and eat there almost every week. I think these folks work most all of the time unless there is some emergency... As for the food: The egg foo young is really really good, nice and crispy and flavorful. The lunch specials are really good and reasonably priced. I enjoy the Deluxe lunch with all the veggies and meats. Their green beens with garlic sauce are my lunch-mates fav, and I really like the chow mein and the sichuan as well as the black bean dishes.
