I grew up in Vallejo so Yo Sushi has been in my artillery of restaurants since the beginning. Every time I come here, the food comes fast, and the sushi is great. I always recommend this place to friends and family who travel to Vallejo. I'd honestly give them 5-stars but I had a sub-par experience with them on my last visit. So I come in about 30 minutes before they close and its pretty packed. The cashiers look a little overwhelmed; in which I understand, I too worked in the restaurant industry in college. What makes me mad was the cashier's inability to focus on me as a customer when other things are going on. As I give her my order, shes "directing traffic" behind her, and asks me to repeat my order. I repeat my order again and then she tries to be cute to a nearby table by jokingly telling some kids to eat their vegetables. She doesn't hear my order. I tell her once more, and this time she's not even looking in the direction of me and the register. When I get my food, the food isn't packed to go. If she was listening, this mistake wouldn't have been made. Now here I am waiting another 5 minutes to get my food boxed up, and other staff does it for her. What is she doing? Counting money. Pretty unprofessional to count cash on a stand. You're not closed yet, and you're not switching shifts. That can wait. Anyway, the food was great as usual. The sashimi appetizer is always fresh, and the rolls are made with craft and precision. I love this place and would love to give it 5-stars, but that cashier really needs to be a little more professional. read more

Have only had delivery orders, everything has been the right temperature, well packed and delicious! So many amazing options to choose from.

Look- I know sushi and bento boxes to-go look wildly different than the photos but my issue is that, 1.) The photo leads you to believe there's going to be more than what's actually included and 2.) I didn't even receive some of the items the description says is standard in all boxes. AKA: the pickled veggies I was really looking forwards to. Next- I ordered Salmon teriyaki and I received absolutely no teriyaki on the fish nor was it included on the side. I also asked for the wasabi to be omitted in my box (it makes my eyes water) and still got a big fat glob of it. You might be thinking- why not just put teriyaki on the salmon yourself. Again, 1.) it's the darn principle of the matter and 2.) teriyaki is a treat for me and I do not readily keep/have it available in my home. The portions were small, even of the rice, considering the price of the meal but I'm opting to give 2 stars because the fish was decent and host was polite about the situation even though they told me point blank told me there's nothing they can do other than remind the kitchen to be more mindful. Called around 8:40pm to place a phone order and was told they stop doing phone orders at 8:30pm. I asked if it was ok to go there and order in person and the lady asked me if it was just sushi rolls that I planned to order and I said "yes". She then said "yes you can come down and order." I asked how long would it take for sushi rolls and she said I would wait only "...10 minutes or so". I told her I was on my way. Arrived around 9:05pm and walked in to order in person and was told right when I walked through the door that "...they were no longer taking orders". What the fuck? I told the staff there that I just got off the phone with a lady about 20 minutes ago who said It would be ok for me to come down and order and that I just drove from American Canyon. The lady asked the man who had his back turned to me and again said "..sorry they are not taking any more orders..." and that "...everything is shut down..." Why are you shutting everything down at 9pm if you close at 9:30pm? If I knew they were going to lie to me and waste my time, I should have just drove straight to MATSURI. They must have had someone new in there. When I got there, people were having issues, and when I got home one of our rolls were wrong.

Not a fancy sushi place for Vallejo but it's definitely a good go-to spot if you're craving. There is plenty of parking in the Safeway plaza in Glen Cove. There is a lot of seating inside and they have a menu posted above the register as well as photos of their sushi rolls. I've eaten at the restaurant many times with family and friends. I always order to go: pick up and delivery when it's just me. My favorite rolls include the north Texas, dragon, crunchy, spider, and crab mania, I get miso soup, and always get mochi ice cream or their macroon ice cream. All are great. I am a returning customer. read more

If you're looking for a quick sushi fix in Vallejo Yo Sushi is a more popular spot. It's no Omakase but it's a wide variety of Japanese food from rolls, bento boxes, and udon. One of the more better places to order large platters for events and groups of people without having to travel so far. My brother placed an order online before picking it up and it was busy for a Friday evening as usual. We got the Lion King roll which has baked salmon on top and takes a little longer, I got the rainbow roll with has a variety of sashimi on top of a basic roll, and my nephew got the chicken teriyaki. The food and service isn't bad but it's also a popular place. Definitely a spot to hit up if you're in the Glen Cove area. read more

I wouldn't say this is the best quality sushi but for the price, it is pretty good. We have been coming here for years since they opened. My go to is either the Vallejo roll with the shrimp tempura inside, spicy tuna on the outside and unagi sauce and jalapeños on top or the deluxe lambada which is a spicy tuna roll topped with avocado and spicy sauce. Always delicious. My kids always get their chicken katsu which they never get tired of. My husband actually takes advantage of the fact that they will make any customized sushi roll you request. As far as service, you order at the counter, they give you a buzzer and you pick up your food at the counter. You also clean up after yourself so you get minimal service. Mostly teens or very young adults working here so the service is not spectacular but they are nice and efficient. read more

Food is ok but unless you're picking up an order, service is very poor. I ordered food for dine in at 4:42, and it was one appetizer, sashimi, a few pieces of a California roll, salad, and soup. More than half of the order is stuff that I'd assume they already have PRE-MADE or somewhat already prepared. I went up to the counter at 5:07, told them it had been 25 minutes, and asked where my food was, and they could only respond that it wasn't ready yet. Obviously, thanks. What I assume to be the problem (based off me sitting at a table and watching the room for 25+ freaking minutes) is that they seem to be prioritizing to go and DoorDash orders. I've seen multiple people come in, pick up their food, and go. That's great, but what about the people that are eating here? Sitting here, waiting for their food? The 9 of us ordered the Large Party Platter along with three bento boxes, an additional roll (Super Spicy Tuna) and an appetizer (Soft Shell Crab) and we demolished everything in less than 15 minutes. I don't have much else to say except that everything was delicious as always and their Green Tea Ice Cream is good in that it isn't overly sweet and they give you three scoops per order! Ehh... Edible and mediocre without wow factor. We've given this place 2 chances and both times were underwhelming. I understand we are in hard times now, but still not the reason to lower my expectations. We ordered our normal 3 rolls, appetizer and rice plate for a family of 5. 1. Our 3 sushi rolls. 2 had raw fish, 1 cooked fish. Our raw fish rolls were on the verge of spoiling. The discoloration was apparent, though it didn't smell foul. The rolls were cut in the most amateur way possible. All of them were different size. So some would fall apart as it was too small/thin and others were huge so when u bite it they would fall apart. The deep friend shrimp tempura that were inside rolls were so overcooked and rubbery. Gimmick rolls that sound fun, but were a complete bust... like the Angry Lion King roll. The red stuff was weird and didn't taste great. Way too much rice vinegar so the taste was really off. 2. Rice plate Had 2 pcs of chicken katsu so portions were ok. They could've thrown in a cheap iceberg lettuce salad with miso dressing to spruce it up, but nope. Hence MEDIOCRE status. 3. Appetizer Gyoza- I wasn't expecting much a most Japanese place around here provide frozen gyozas. They were all the exactly what i expected sitting on a bed of cabbage. Last, but not least... They gave us spoiled ginger in an extra separate container. Not all of it was spoiled. Hubby took 1 bite and spat that crap out!! [Delivery Review] Being stuck at home, its hard to enjoy sushi, so delivery is decent alternative. We ordered through Door Dash, and the process is very easy. Most, if not all menu items detail whats in each. The food is packed well. They packed the baked roll separately from the fresh rolls. They include enough wasabi and ginger for the size of the order. The quality is okay, I'm not sure how much the delivery process plays into the freshness of the order, but I think it's okay, given the location of the restaurant. As of this review, we've ordered 2 times from here, and it seems like the consistency between orders wasnt really there. This time, one of my rolls was huge. I separated the toppings from the roll to manage eating it. Worth a try if you're in the area. But I think I would travel to other places when its safe. read more

It's basic fast food sushi. It's good for when you have a craving and don't want to drive out of town. In the Chirashi the octopus was pretty tough and the tuna tasted extra fishy. The salmon was good and made up for it. The salad that came with it had bo salad dressing or sauce not sure if that's correct but I didnt eat it. Saved room for the rolls. We were looking for a good sushi place and came across this on our drive, and boy that was a mistake. I walk in, and none of the workers or cooks are wearing masks! This business doesn't even care about the health of their customers or employees, and this is first time I have come across a restaurant that doesn't follow the laws in place for wearing masks! This is putting the health of the community in danger. On top of that, when I asked about masks, the owner come to me(who also wasn't wearing a mask) and addressed me, telling me to mind my business and to order as I was "holding up the line". She was so incredibly rude and proceeded to yell at me while there were several customers in the restaurant waiting. I was so shocked I couldn't believe this person was in the restaurant business, she is running a health hazardous restaurant and has no knowledge of customer service. I am never coming back to this place, I suggest anyone who doesn't want to be verbally assaulted or catch COVID also stay away. read more

I've written about Yo Sushi before but I felt like it was time to review their food regarding the takeout experience. Since COVID and SIP obviously we're all changing our restaurant experience expectations. But I have to say that their standards have remained not only intact but I think the food is even better than before. Everything is fresh. The online ordering system is easy. The pick up is convenient and on time. I've had some bad experiences with other local restaurants dropping some of their standards as far as food quality and quality control but that is not the case with Yo Sushi. We've ordered for lunch and dinner, all orders were exactly right and very tasty. Our favorites have been, the combo specials, volcano rolls, tempura, and the udon. I'm so pleased there is a healthy(ish) local option for reliably yummy takeout. read more

I'm in love with their crab mania and jalapeno shooters! Can't go wrong with their large sushi platter either. I really like that they have a large selection of sushi items.
