I'm allergic to seafood and shellfish, so when I'm in the mood for sushi, I really can't come here on a busy weekend night. They can usually accomodate me, but if they know that they're super busy, they will let me know that they can't guarantee my rolls won't make contact with fish. My go-to rolls are the chicken teriyaki, kappa, and veggie rolls. I just learned the other day on the fluke that if you ask, they will deep fry any roll you like into a crispy roll for an additional $2. I've been going to Yo Sushi for years, even when they only had the branch in Fairfield. The sushi is good for the price you pay. I come here every now and then when I have a sushi craving. This time around I ordered the lunch special, which has a California Roll and chicken teriyaki. This is always good. We also ordered the jalapeno poppers. The people in the kitchen need to sharpen their knife skills! We had the tekka donburi and a tempura roll. The sashimi was cut so unevenly - huge pieces of fish, tiny pieces of fish. Nothing was consistent in the cuts. The tempura roll - ANY of their rolls. They are huge rolls, but they cut them so thin you can't pick them up to eat. I gave up with the chopsticks and use my fingers. They still fell apart. I'm on the fence on what to rate this place because the food tastes great and the prices are decent, but the consistency sucks. I was a regular customer, but after today...there is no way I would patronize this place again. Let me explain why; "the owner" yelled at me to stand in a line as soon as I walked in. No greeting, no hello...just brute rudeness. I understand it is busy, I understand that this is a stressful time for business because of Covid... however, that is no excuse to lose common manners and decency. This is my absolute favorite spot for sushi in the Vallejo/Benicia area. They have a huge variety of rolls, each unique and crafted exquisitely. Their rolls are also filling and satisfying. We get pickup pretty regularly here, and we are still finding new gems on the menu. Although Yo is so so so busy now, they always get my order right, are very pleasant and cheerful, and have it ready for pickup on time. I would absolutely recommend this place! How much care they put into cutting their fish has definitely shifted since I last reviewed and I'm ultimately happy to say I've enjoyed the last few sashimi orders I've gotten. And when I asked "what are you going to do to make this right?" everyone kept pretending that they had a call to take or someone else to reply to. I placed an order at 6:00pm. At 8:00 I asked for an update on my order and they told me it wasn't ready yet. I said okay, can you give me an estimate on how much longer it'll be? Although all items were delivered, the staff did not prepare my order correctly. I do not believe this is a Grubhub error, but the staff needs to carefully read the instructions and additions people paid for. I appreciate that this business is open during COVID, and will continue to support them. Or it could also indicate, everyone needs a day of rest.) ;p As soon as you walk in, the wide variety of what looked like yumminess are captured pre-assembled food menu photos posted on a quasi-wall to your left leading up to the register, ready to order. Convenient? Yes. We humans, being that we own a visual perception, and maybe that an appetite is better accompanied with words that have photos to describe them. (Is this why fast food drive-thru's are effortless?) Trivial? Yes. After ordering; 1. Chicken Teriyaki bowl, enough to share between two young'uns ages 4 and 7. Still had enough to pick off for taste testing. 2. Combo Tempura, only had two shrimp tempura and the rest were veggies, 3. Sashimi (tuna and salmon), enjoyed by the hubby mostly. 4-7. Super California, Crazy Monkey, Mexican, Spider, 8. and a bowl of miso soup, satisfied my Auntie's broth craving. Reasonably priced? For the amount of seafood wrapped in rice--thinly mind you, yes. Tuna was not spoiled, salmon was not spoiled. Super California, generous roll of imitation crab, hint of avocado and maybe julienned horse radish, topped by a lackluster eel. Crazy Monkey, as described by hubby (I didn't get a piece) was "Oh, you didn't have none? It was great!" Mexican, a California roll topped with shrimp inhaled quickly by an 11 y/o. Spider, delectable deep fried soft shell crab, rolled in roe-speckled rice. Tasty? Overall, yes. Inasmuch as any walk-in eateries (Golden Arches included), walk up to order, wait for order, pick up order--notified by pager in this case, discard debris and place tray withal fellow consumers' rubbish. 4 (yes') stars. 1 star short for the facility, the space is dated and the bathrooms need attention. Men's bathroom, per hubby was "dirty", women's bathroom was dark, and the toilet paper holder was lower than the concealed chamber pot. Let's start with this I Love Sushi!!!! I only get one specific roll whenever I eat sushi and that's a Tuna with Avocado. The food tonight wasnt up to par and always get the same thing here. but if I can be frank, DO NOT place hot soup on a sushi roll that is meant to be cold, it can make someone sick. When I went to pick up my food my roll was really warm felt worried, I could get sick as it's RAW TUNA.
