About 15 minutes later, when he was nearly finished, my breakfast arrived. What a disaster! The English muffin was uncooked, there was 1 leaf of spinach, the mushrooms were virtually nonexistent and to top it off it was smothered in very salty pesto. Then I tasted a shell. My Recent Experience at Yolk in Boynton Beach I was really looking forward to trying Yolk, but unfortunately, my experience was one of the worst I've had in a while--despite the great service. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the disappointing food all the more surprising. We ordered the Monte Cristo, which arrived soggy and lacked the bubbly cheese I expected. The turkey also had an off-putting taste. It's one of the few times I've ever left more than half my meal uneaten. We also got the kids' French toast sticks, but they turned out soggy and strangely grainy--even syrup couldn't save them. My two-year-old took one bite and kept spitting them out. The sausages were just okay, and the scrambled eggs tasted like they might have had something other than eggs mixed in. As for the coffee, it reminded me of gas station coffee that's been sitting on the burner far too long. None of the food looked like the restaurant's marketing photos, which was disappointing. Overall, the friendly service was the only highlight. I was really hoping to find a new go-to breakfast spot, but it seems this just isn't it for me. I hope the management takes these issues seriously because the potential is there--if they can match the food quality to the excellent service. read more

I've been to yolk 3 times now. The first 2 experiences were pretty good. The food and service were both right on. Unfortunately when I was there last week for lunch, the service was not good, the food took a long time to arrive at our table, the coffee arrived after the food (even longer time) and the fruit, for which I paid an up charge, contained moldy grapes with bits of eggshells. I showed the waitress the moldy grapes and she didn't even offer to bring me other fruit and charged me for it on the bill. I hate doing this but spent $41 for my wife and myself and her oatmeal was great but my breakfast was not worth the money. Cornbeef hash was like shredded meat and grease on my plate. The positive vibe starts the minute you walk up to the entrance. Outdoor seating in colorful and inviting. It was too cold to sit outside this morning, so we were seated in a booth inside. This was our first time at Yolk. Our server was the one to seat us and immediately arranged for clean filtered water and ice to be brought to the table as well as hot coffee made from fresh ground beans. The menu is extensive and has just about any breakfast dish you might desire. My wife had Nutella filled crepes topped with sliced strawberries. I ordered the country hash topped with 2 eggs. The hash had potatoes, bacon, onions, scallions, ham and peppers and cheddar cheese. It also came with two of the biggest pancakes I have ever been served. We ended up taking the pancakes home as I was completely filled up by the hash. The service was impeccable. Hot coffee refills were constant and brought without prompting. If you are looking for a cheap breakfast experience, this is not the spot. But we have been to all the local upscale breakfast places, and Yolk ranks at the top. read more
