Portobello mushroom sandwich with poached egg and a side of tomato soup
    Sarah T.

We came here today to try this place out around 11 am and only had to wait about 15 mins to get a table inside. We ordered the portobello mushroom poached egg sandwich with tomato soup which was super delicious. Because today was so rainy, the soup absolutely hit the spot and was very flavourful! Highly recommend trying their tomato soup. I ordered the smokehouse bacon Benny and it was perfectly poached and the bacon was crispy which was perfect for covering in hollandaise. Portions were good. Service was great and would definitely come back.

Great food, very well prepared and very delicious. My wife and I enjoyed breakfast there two days while traveling in Vancouver. We ordered the eggs, side of protein and fruit. Cafe Americano to start our day. Definitely worth going.

Love the chicken and waffles here the waffles are light and chicken batter savoury! I don't use the gravy or jalapeños they give but just the maple syrup which makes it so good. The service is attentive. It's also nice we can make a reservation especially since it gets quite busy for brunch. Will be back for sure!

    Chicken and waffle eggs Benny

Steady eddy- been going here for years and food quality and service are consistent. Clean establishment, decent washrooms. Eggs Bennies are HEAVENLY. Naked pancakes are also my thing and they do it just right. First timers must try the chicken and waffles.

They do poached eggs really well. There's a reason it's called Yolks. I'll say just order anything with poached eggs on the menu if you love runny yolks. I have been to Yolks at the old location and I was not impressed much. Now I know it's because I didn't order poached eggs. I had the chicken and waffle then and it was alright. Nothing spectacular. I much prefer this new location. Modern looking and way brighter than the previous one. Lots of tables and a big patio outside. I like how they have several smaller tables which can be combined to accommodate big groups without disrupting other diners. I decided to have the make your own breakfast option. I chose poached eggs, portobello mushrooms, lemon truffle potato and sourdough toast. They were all nicely done. Love the runny yolk. The disappointing part of my meal was the hot chocolate. Despite using callebaut chocolate, it still lacked the rich chocolatey taste. I could taste the chocolate but the entire drink tasted quite diluted though. Skip that if you are a chocolate snob. I will come back again, just for the poached eggs. Street parking is available.

First and foremost, I was greeted with friendly, helpful service the moment I came through the door. Almost everyone there, from the host to the upper management, went out of their way to seat me as soon as possible once I arrived. The wait time was minimal, and the server suggestions were solid. She recommended substituting a half-and-half mixture of truffle-lemon potatoes and greens for the usual English muffin in the grilled portobello mushroom Benny. The salad and potato combo was fantastic, and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. They must have felt the same way since they gave me a free waffle on the way out. The quality of this establishment is outstanding.

Amazing food. 10/10 I only wish I had discovered this breakfast gem sooner! A must-visit for anyone who loves a good meal!

Yumm, Yumm, Yumm. I ordered the Double Smoked Bacon Benny and wanted the english muffin to be extra crispy and easy on Hollandaise, and that is exactly what I got! I mean.. you're probably thinking ....well if you asked for it...then obviously you'd be getting it....well...you'd be surprised how that is not the case frequently these days. Our server was great and once the food arrived I asked for some hot sauce and (Lee) asked whether I wanted something hot or more on the spicy sweet....and I asked bring what you have as I like variety. So, he brought me three different types of hot sauce and they all tasted so wonderfully different (see pics). One was sweet but with a kick, the other was "run for your life" hot and the last one was something in-between. Loved all three as I was by the end even dipping my fork in it on its own. The Benny was made to perfection. The english muffin crispy on the bottom and the bacon awesomely crispy and the eggs perfectly soft-medium and the sauce just the right amount. The potatoes were cut fresh and beautifully proportioned and not greasy at all topped with sprinkles of spring onion and yes even they were fresh. (Actually thinking about it now makes my mouth water - seriously) The French toast. I don't even know what to say. Just go try it. (Great. Now I want one! :|)

Beignets. The lemon curd and caramel sauces were good.

I heard so many good things about Yolks and finally gave it a try. Loved the ambiance but unfortunately the food was underwhelming. The poached eggs had uncooked egg whites that was unappetizing. The waffle in the chicken waffle was too mushy. The fried avocado tasted okay but not much flavor. There are so many good brunch places in Vancouver. The food at Yolk's is average quality in comparison.

Banana-Nut Belgian Waffle Candied walnuts, fresh bananas, salted caramel sauce and real vanilla whipped cream

My brunch and Yolks really redeemed my experience. I had been to the Yolks on Cambie and Broadway and after a 1.5 hour wait, was so underwhelmed, sad with my portions and felt it was pricey. This was quite some time ago though.. I was feeling sweet which never happens but BOY! The Banana-Nut Belgian Waffle was DELICIOUS! I enjoyed the whole thing and can still taste it in my mouth. It was sweet, but you could add how much whip cream and salted caramel sauce on the side. The bennys were also beautiful but the star of the show crispy hash brown patties. You see, looking at their sides, my eyes would dart to the truffle-lemon potatoes, which I think I got the last time I went and felt sad. These hash browns = instant happiness. Also, their bennys are very aesthetically beautiful. Yolks is worth the hype. I'm not sure a 1.5 hour wait necessarily.. but their food is damn tasty. I feel like their coffee is definitely one of those super hipster intense coffees as a comment if you're a coffee snob (good for you! Not super great for me as I prefer more easy drinking but to each their own!)

First time to this newer location. Server and hostess were friendly. The booths are all connected so you'll feel every movement of adjoining booth. That's the only thing that ruined it for me. The double smoked Benny is very nice.

I'm somewhat of a regular customer here, and my experience has always been good. That being said, some days have been better than others. First, you have to be strategic about when you go, otherwise you can be waiting outside for over an hour. I find the best time to be weekdays before noon or after 2. Second, be mindful of what you order. Prices are on the higher end for brunch, so you want to get something amazing--otherwise you'll be left a bit disappointed. Ask your server for their recommendations! Whenever I've done this, I've enjoyed my food the most. The chicken and waffles, for example, are amazing. However, my favourite dish is the classic Yolks breakfast, because of the perfectly poached eggs (you could pick a different preparation, but trust me, this is the way to go. They're not exaggerating when they say the eggs are perfectly poached) and crispy hashbrown patties (again, you can pick something else, but why would you? XD). The two dishes mentioned above are regulars, but Yolks recently introduced new menu options, like the scotch egg. I had it the last time I went and did not find it as exceptional as I expected it to be (it got over-hyped). Mainly for this reason, I'm giving Yolks 3 stars.

Their waffles are incredibly crisp and light, despite the amount of toppings on them. I don't know how they make them so they stay so resistant to going soggy. And despite the amount of whipped cream, ice cream and sauce on them, the waffle was always able to balance out the sweetness. Their waffles are just perfect balance of flavour and texture. We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way.
