    Seafood Tofu Soup
    Neethu I.

The cold weather had me craving something warm and comforting, and Young Dong Tofu did not disappoint. I ordered the Seafood Tofu Soup, and it was exactly what I needed- rich, soothing, and full of flavor!!! The soup came with rice and a variety of banchan: kimchi with a nice balance of sweetness and spice, bean sprouts lightly dressed with sesame oil, and cucumber, which was actually my favorite side dish (I just wish there was more of it!). The restaurant was definitely busy, which is always a good sign, and despite that, the staff were friendly & efficient when handing me my order. Overall, a great spot for a cozy, satisfying meal! Last but not least, there is a parking lot as the restaurant is seated inside a complex but it can be busy dependent on when you go!

It usually pains me to have to write a bad review for a restaurant as I acknowledge that sometimes poor service is due to someone having a rough day or not the best quality due to the time of day, but today I placed an UberEats pickup order and had my mom go pick it up for us. And she came back to tell me how rude the man working at 7pm (possible the owner) was to her. First, he refused to give her to-go plates even after she explained that we recently moved houses and didn't have any plates yet. Second, after the nice lady finally gave my mom 3 bowls and was going to give her chopsticks, he got mad saying the nice ones she was giving my mom is for customers dining in only. Third, he got mad at my mom for placing an order through UberEats as he claimed Uber gets 25% of their profit (even though Uber is how I found out about this restaurant). Overall, the food was pretty good but I don't think I will be coming back anytime soon. The poor customer service is not worth it.

This is our go-to Korean tofu place in Arcadia. Their food is consistently good. They serve water or hot tea, complimentary salad & banchan sides like cucumber, bean sprouts, seaweed & kimchi. We always enjoy their beef tofu soup, kalbi short ribs, beef & chicken bulgogi, bibimbop, beef short rib soup & japchae noodles. Their tofu soup lunch & dinner combos are a great deal, it includes a meat dish & a tofu soup of your choice. 2 combos can easily feed our family of 4, we just need to order an extra bowl of rice. This restaurant is a small mom & pop shop. They seem understaffed, especially on the weekends when it's busy, therefore service can be a little lacking. But the food is good, you just need to be patient.

At first, I was worried coming here on a Saturday for dinner. My friend and I both wanted tofu soup to warm us up with the evening temperatures dropping. I'm grateful for making the trip to come here. There's plenty of parking available and we were seated within 5 minutes. Once we seated we were asked what beverages we would like. My friend and I both wanted hot tea. They quickly brought us our teas. And banchan was brought out to us right after. The banchan was good, not too salty like most places and everything had a nice crunch to it. I ordered the bossam combo with seafood tofu soup and my friend got the spicy chicken with beef tofu soup. Both medium spicy. First off, I absolutely love how the rice is served in a hot stone bowl. I tend to eat slow so this way my rice stayed hot all the way through my meal. Most places I've gone to will just give you a bowl of white rice and some places have the option for purple rice. I've only had hot stone rice in Ktown. The seafood tofu soup actually had lots of seafood in it. Most places I've gone to only had 1 shrimp, 1 oyster, and 1 clam...but over here mines had more than 8 clams (1 in a shell and the rest no shell), 2 shrimp, and 1 oyster. My friend's had lots of beef in hers. Our entrees came and everything was delicious. I'll definitely be coming back. Service, ambience, and food is so bomb. The food had a very Korean grandma comfort food taste to it.

Came back 7 years later... I got the seafood soup with the pork belly plate combo. My friend got the oyster soup with the stone pot bibimbap combo. Here's the breakdown: Seafood soup was mid. Granted I got it in mild but there was just not enough flavor in the soup. It tastes almost like instant tofu soup, if that makes sense. They do use real seafood so that's a plus. The pork belly plate was actually not bad. The pork belly was extremely melt-in-your-mouth tender. The meat itself has a light savory flavor. It comes with the white pickled radish (which is too sour to pair with the meat) and green onion kimchi + radish kimchi. The bibimbap was also very tasty. It was packed with ingredients and was large for its price. Overall, the experience was mid. The pricing is not too bad but it's just not a place I would crave and go back to. The service was okay. At 1pm on a Saturday, we were the only ones there. Absolutely empty place. The big parking lot was full though.

I've been to Youn Dong Tofu in Arcadia a few times over the years, and if you haven't tried it yet, I'd definitely recommend giving it a go. The menu is simple to navigate with three categories and about 30 dishes total, and I love that the menu doubles as the placemat so you can start ordering right away. On my latest visit, I ordered the beef bulgogi combo with seafood tofu. It came out sizzling on a hot stone bowl with onions, scallions, and sesame seeds. The galbi was delicious and tender -- definitely a great choice if it's your first time here. Service here is friendlier than what I usually experience at other Korean restaurants. The staff checked in often, offered banchan refills with a smile, and made the meal feel welcoming. Most of the banchan was solid, although the jeon/pancake could've been better. Still, overall a tasty and enjoyable place I'm happy to return to. The place is small, so it tend to get busy and a bit of a wait. But the restaurant has a wait list for sign up in the front.

The parking situation is always busy but you should be able to find a spot in the plaza. If it is busy you'll have to wait a bit and there's a few spots inside to sit and wait. The food is pretty good and standard tofu soup restaurants it's very cozy and homey. I enjoyed the clay rice the best at the end. Crispy and tasty! The servers seemed a bit young and tired so I hope they're able to get some rest.

It has been a while since I've come into this place for dine in, I've usually ordered for uber eats or I've come to eat prior to Covid. We arrived around 5:05, we were the first customers. Place was clean and eerie being the first ones. However we were greeted immediately and got to choose where to sit that was convenient for our stroller and also not in direct sunlight. The menu has not changed significantly, just prices. My go to is the combinations with soup, I've usually ordered just seafood or oyster soup since it's sooo good and refreshing. This time we ordered the beef bugolgi with nonspicy oyster soup and bibimbap stone bowl with medium spicy clam soup. The salad dressing was very delicious, I saw a sign that said it's 6$ if you want to take a bottle home. The side dishes came first with kimchi, bean sprouts, cucumber, and radishes (?). They gave us two metal bowls which I don't remember for what, but we actually used them to share food. Since I had the bulgogi, I got a stone bowl rice. The food came fairly quickly, sizzling soup first then our main course. Everything was hot! Be cautious when spooning food into mouth. We cracked our eggs into the soup while it was boiling hot, I like mixing mine into the soup to make it more thicker. I like to mix all the sides and meat with my rice in the am hot bowl which sort of heats it up. I also like to dip a spoonful of the rice mixture into the soup. The bugolgi was tender and sweet, some bits here and there but mostly intact. The bibimbap was very good, came with a fried egg. The mushrooms really made the dish savory. I also like to add sides to the dish and eat it all with soup. I definitely enjoyed this meal, no leftovers and even finished the sides. I'm not good with spicy foods, I was sort of in spicy pain for a while but it was worth it. My soup helped and so did ice water. They had restrooms in the back, individual rooms (it was one unisex and one woman). Overall I'm glad we drove 45min from our previous destination (Van Nuys) to here instead of stopping at Koreatown!

Probably one of the most DISAPPOINTING, UNSATISFYING Korean spots I've ever dined at. Yeah their food isn't worth the high prices. Their Bibimbap was so underwhelming. Are Bibimbaps usually more than $20? I don't think so, highway robbery seriously lol. Overcooked/BURNT rice, lacking ingredients, and overall not good quality. Their complimentary side dishes were just alright. Service was sort of standoffish, except from this younger female server who was pleasant enough. Would not recommend eating at this spot for Korean food.

I can't believe I've never been here and it will definitely be in my rotation! The soon tofu was perfectly hot on the rainy night we went, and the Kalbi was marinated to perfection. The sweet lady owner also offered me scissors to cut the meat! I felt so well taken care of there! It's a cozy, homey vibe and I will be coming back (many times). :)

Braised spicy beef ribs - mild spicy

We ordered a seafood tofu soup and a mild spicy braised beef ribs. The beef ribs were terrible. It's not authentic Korean braised beef ribs. Do not order that dish and it's $70 for that mediocre food. My friend and I were very disappointed with the food and I told the server that the picture on the menu does not even match with the actual food. And she laughed and said "it's not the same. I will not come back to this restaurant.

We went for lunch and got their lunch combo 6: dumpling tofu soup with boiled pork belly. We asked for spicy (4 on 5). Everything was very tasty. The banchan came with kimchi, spicy onions, beansprouts, cucumber kimchi and seaweed. All of them were pretty tasty and flavorful. I specially liked the spicy onions that came with the banchan. The tofu soup was very flavorful and came with an egg. The stone pot rice had the edges of the rice was the right amount of crispy. You can ask the rice to be steamed if you don't like it that way. The pork belly came with a healthy amount of pickled radish which was very pleasantly surprising especially at it's price point and some radish kimchi and spring onions. It also came with salted shrimp, ssamjang and jalapenos. The restaurant is owned by a Korean family, I believe. Service was very fast with multiple refills of our hot tea. We will definitely be coming back!

Their cold noodle dish is easily one of the best within a 15-mile radius. Honestly, there's not much competition in the area, so it's more about convenience versus driving farther for the absolute best, but Omma delivers consistently good quality that keeps me coming back. The bulgogi plate is a must-order when dining in. There's something special about that sizzling hot plate arriving at your table with the meat still bubbling and caramelizing. The banchan is standard fare with basic kimchi, nothing to speak home about but expected for standard Korean cruisine. What I appreciate most is how family-friendly this place is. The food court setting offers plenty of spacious seating, and parking in the lot is never an issue. I mostly do pickups and there's usually no wait time. The one time we did sit down to eat, I noticed a steady stream of delivery orders going out, which speaks to their popularity. It's not fancy, but for quick, reliably good Korean food in a convenient location with easy parking, Omma Tofu House hits the spot. I decided to try to go in person and order my usual bibimbap + seafood tofu soup. I remember extra banchan can be ordered but not sure about dine in. I ordered directly with the server who handed me a buzzer to wait for my order to be called. It took an around 10minutes for the food the be ready. I had two trays, one for soup and banchan and the other for bibimbap. You mix your bowl of rice (be careful since the bowl is metal and hot!) into the bibimbap bowl, add sauce (only spicy version they do not have nonspicy sauce!) and mix!! It has all sorts of veggies and meat bits and a fried egg. You can also add all the banchan in as well but we wanted to eat them separately with each bite. They gave us a raw egg (crack it in the soup asap if you don't want it runny!) which I cracked into the hot stone soup, be careful because the bowl is super hot!! I think someone melted our tray with is be fair because the tray was morphed as well. Soup was delicious, love the tiny shrimps, clams, and oyster pieces inside with plenty of tofu which I mixed into bibimbap as well. Banchan was 5 dishes! Potato's salad is new to me as I'm used to their kimchi, seaweed, bean sprouts and fish tofu dishes. All great! Enough food so I didn't ask if they give extra banchan or a price or free. Once we were done we returned the tray and bowls to the restaurant. Glad I tried this is person! Still amazing and worth the wait.

Still Our Favorite Tofu Spot -- Had to Bring the Family This Time!…read more Of course we had to come back to our favorite tofu spot, and this time we brought the family for a belated Mother's Day dinner after raving about this place nonstop. Best part? We saw Shelly, our favorite girl that works here! She's always so sweet, kind, and welcoming every single time we visit. It honestly makes the experience even better when you're greeted by familiar friendly faces. We came around 7:30 PM and the wait was only about 10 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad at all considering how popular this place gets. Service was quick, efficient, and the food kept coming out fast. Plenty of tables inside, so it never felt too cramped. This time around we ordered: * Jap Chae * Bulgogi with Beef & Seafood Tofu Combo * Spicy Pork w/ seafood & beef combo * Teriyaki Chicken w/ seafood & beef tofu * Bulgogi with All Seafood & Beef Tofu Combo And of course... the unlimited refills of the banchan are always one of the best parts. Honestly, sometimes I think I could make a full meal out of just those alone. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and exactly why we keep coming back every couple of months. I will say the prices have slowly been creeping up little by little each visit, but honestly, we still enjoy it every time. Still our go-to tofu spot and definitely one we'll continue bringing family and friends to. Happy eats!
