This place is amazing. After reading rave reviews for this place when it first opened and my boyfriend went in on a Wednesday night. There was a long wait but also a bar that we could sit at while we were waiting. I can't fully describe how delicious the food was but I can tell you that it's unlike anything you've ever tasted. I am originally from Thailand, so my taste buds are a bit picky when it comes to Asian cuisine in Mn, although I will say the Thai sausages were SO authentic and close to what my mother would prepare when I was a child. It was a nostalgic experience, everything from the mismatched plates to the familiar flavors made me feel like I was eating at someone's house. Charming and smart decor/ambiance along with fantastic food makes me give 5 stars for Young Joni! Went here will a party of 4 and we had the cauliflower, kimchi fried grains and chicken wings to start off. All 3 were full of unique flavor that I could not get enough of. For pizzas we had the Yolo and the Korean Barbecue. Again, full of unique fantastic flavor and probably the best pizza I've ever had in MN. I knew there was high praise for Young Joni, but I didn't expect myself to like it this much. Definitely gonna be coming here regularly. read more

If you are thinking of going here with a big party, don't bother. I called to try to get a reservation for 12 and they don't do that for big groups. I called that morning to check availability and they said show up and see. We got there and they wouldn't seat partial groups. Server had no desire to help us out at all. So we left. I get that a speakeasy is supposed to be hidden and is traditionally a "secret." However, prohibition is over and the hostess we interacted with was rude. It was our first time going there so we walked through the waiting vestibule and into the actual bar to where the hostess basically shoved us back into the vestibule. When asked how long the wait was she paused and responded with "I don't know." So we asked "okay well how may people are before us?" and she again responded with "I don't know" then turned around and left. We waited for over 45 minutes and decided to leave. We heard it's a cool bar but not sure it's worth dealing with a rude hostess and super long wait times. read more

We have been driving by for months, anticipating the opening in NE! Really cool inviting atmosphere, love the pizza ovens and warmth of the wood being prepped for the ovens. Got seated right away, service ok. They got my pizza order wrong, and it took a very long time for the staff to sort it out. Giving this that it was on day 4 of opening up the doors. And that door, agree with other comments, please add a handle, very confusing! Only ordered the pizza which was just OK. Will have to go back and try other mains/sides. read more

We've eaten here 4-5 times now and it never disappoints. Beautiful space. Friendly service. Spicy meatballs are delicious (perhaps off the menu now) as is the cauliflower--perhaps best cauliflower I've ever eaten. Sweet Potato a winner--I love bonito flakes but they aren't for everyone. They give 5 stars for wonderfully different, fresh and exciting food. You should absolutely go there. BUT... sadly, they will only get 3 stars from me because I have never sat in more uncomfortable chairs in a restaurant ever. They have 2 kids of chairs and when I couldn't stand the first one, I switched it out to the other style which was only marginally better. I couldn't wait to leave after my delicious meal. The other "star" deduction was the noise. My friend measured 90 decibels and it was only 7 pm on a Tuesday night. Can't imagine a Friday night. Though I asked, the server refused to speak louder so I never really understood the specials. Needless to say, it was very difficult to speak and listen to my friends. I can't say that I will go back but the food, oh the food, is fantastic. read more

Really great pizza. On our second trip to this awesome restaurant, we tried one of the more exotic sounding pizzas, the Korean BBQ. Crust is thin and crispy, flavor was exceptional. Thin cuts of BBQ, under s bed of arugula with an Asian dressing. Wonderful. Service attentive without being overbearing. read more

My husband and I loved this place! We started with the Korean Beef Short Ribs. Portion was just right for two people and the combination of flavors was excellent. Next up we split the Basque (highly recommend!) and the Amatriciana (still good but a little spicy). I had to force us to set aside leftovers so we could try dessert. We ordered the Seasonal Rhubarb Crisp with a side of the Soft Serve Vanilla Ice Cream. The Crisp came out warm and bubbly and the pairing with the Ice Cream was perfect. Showed up at 4:30 on a Saturday. :45 wait no problem. Went to their Speakeasy for a drink which is very cool. We were seated at the chefs rail and it was a hoot to watch the cooks in action. However..... We ordered two pizzas and when my wife's pizza came out, they said mine had been burnt and a second would be on its way shortly. 15 minutes later mine showed up and my wife was done eating. The cook brought the pizza out and the waitress never even noticed the issue so we didn't receive so much as an apology from her or the staff at the maitre d station. Pizzas were ok. Crust under the toppings was soggy, but outer crust outstanding. You could tell they were hurried. I will probably give them another shot and try something other than pizza. read more

I had such high expectations for this place, but maybe that's my fault. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous but the food was average (our pizza was burned ) and the drinks weren't great. I've heard incredible things so I had very high expectations but the food was on the good side of average and the service was subpar. We waited forever to get drinks, our waitress didn't check on us, and didn't care that we'd received a burned pizza. I'm not the demanding type of customer that expects a remake or absolutely perfect service at a pizza place but everything was just so meh. I wish I would've loved it. They're trying sooooo hard to be trendy and cool but not fully delivering. Even the "speakeasy" is trying so hard to be cool but the drink menu didn't deliver here, either. It doesn't need to be overly complicated, it needs to be good. Take some notes from the Norseman's beverage program. I will definitely give it another try since so many people love it, but my first experience was less than stellar. read more

We FINALLY made it to this restaurant and were lucky to find a spot in the very tiny bar area where we ate our meal. The waits are insane but the food is good. We had the Korean BBQ pizza and the Yolo. Both very good choices. However, it was a bit pricey for wood-fired pizza and not worth a 1.5+ hour wait to get seated. If we go again, I guess we'll be the old people waiting in line at 4pm for them to open. Too many other unique NE Minneapolis restaurants to try instead of waiting here if that's the case. read more

I'd say the bar in the back is overrated - though they had some cool cocktails on the menu. Definitely order your pizzas in the main dining space; wider selection and better prices. Long wait for reservations but we got seats at the bar fairly quickly. Very similar food as Pizzeria Lola (and just as tasty). Cocktails were great. Excellent pizza and the dessert (ice cream with sea salt and olive oil) was refreshing! Definitely worth a visit. read more
