Pretty affordable! Great price. There is a unisex area: - lobby to sit and drink tea/water - rooms: hot room, salt room, ice room The women area: hot tub, cold tub, dry and steam rooms, showers, scrub/massage room I am excited to come back down to SD just so I can be here again! Next time, I am definitely trying the body scrub, massage, and the yoni steaming. The yoni steaming caught my eye. I wish I tried this when I first went but I was limited on time. After being a loyal customer for a year, bringing countless friends with me to this establishment, something happened during a wet service that made both my friend and I very afraid and left feeling violated. After the session I immediately emailed management about it asking for a refund. It took them four days and two emails and one Instagram message from me for them to get back to me on this very serious matter and denied the refund. From a business perspective alone, denying the refund from one session for the amount of business I would have continued to bring them is just foolish, but from a human perspective, to deny it after the fear and violation we felt is just wrong. If you cannot acknowledge when something in your establishment goes wrong ESPECIALLY in such a vulnerable and exposed business such as a Korean spa, you no longer have my support which is so disappointing as I absolutely loved this place as a safe haven and place for healing for so long. read more

A little disappointed because I came on my birthday and paid for my whole family...and no discount sadly. I asked and the lady shook her head slowly. We all booked an appointment for massages all at the same time, so that was the only good thing. We all got the seaweed wrap and scrub massage. During the scrub, it was an alright experience but the massage part was so rough that I had bruises the next day. On the car ride home, my mom even asked "Was your massage painful too?" and everyone agreed. It was just not me, but my mom had bruises as well. I guess the only good part was getting all the dead skin off, and feeling the baby soft smoothness after. But the pain is not worth to go back again. My husband also got a scrub and massage but his experience with the steam rooms on the men's side were all so filled and he didn't get a chance to go in there. As for the jimjilbang, there are not many amenities open so I cannot comment on it. I wish the snack bar was available but unfortunately it wasn't. We go to Korean spas frequently in LA and although I knew this location would not be as sizable, I didn't set a high expectation at all. But this visit alone made my whole family's experience less than satisfying and wish we drove the extra miles for a better experience. read more

One word .....interesting... This is my first experience at a Korean spa, so I didn't know what to expect. My friend told me expect to be naked. Naked..well, I'm not used to walking around naked in public. Obviously, it is a requirement for a body scrub. Walk in, pay up front, take off shoes, and you're given a key to your personal locker, two towels, and pajamas. Undress, lock up stuff, note number on your key, as that determines which person will scrub you. It's all about cleanliness before you use hot tub and scrub area, so ...individual showers with plenty of shampoo, conditioner, and soap are available. The (I'll say scrubber) dressed in a bra and panty will come and call you by the number on your key. You enter a large room, sectioned off by sheer side curtains. Each section contains a large slippery foam table with a small opening to put your face in. The scrubbers hardly speak any English and will bark commands at you to lie face down, face up, turn to your side. She scrubs every single part of your body with a scrubbing mitten and exfoliant. The woman who worked on me was nice and gentle on the areas where I had a bruise. My friend had a woman who was rough, and scrubbed harshly. She asked her to be more gentle, but it only lasted for a few. She'll shampoo your hair, although I declined. I was told it's a normal part of a package in Korea and you get charged, but here at this spa, it's free. She did provide a nice facial cleanse and neck massage. After the half hour scrub, once again shower and bathe, put on the pajamas provided, and enjoy the amenities at the spa. They have a salt sauna, steam room, cold room, and coed relaxation room to sit and chill. We enjoyed the salt sauna and cold room, and thereafter used the coed room to relax and nap. We were rudely prevented from taking a nap due to some gentleman that were speaking loudly. Although there are signs posted everywhere to speak softly, they refused and appeared irritated when we asked them nicely l! The spa appears clean, they do provide lotion, hair spray, and blow dryers. You're given an envelope to tip upon exiting. Not sure if I would return if back in town, some rude customer service. My sister got me a gift certificate for my birthday and I finally used it today. I'm sad to say I was pretty disappointed with the overall experience. When I walked in, they checked me in and handed me my basket. The front desk staff assumed I had been there before and I had to let them know I had not, so they then walked me through all of the amenities. When I walked into the locker room, I was greeted with someone's cell phone alarm which was going off constantly in their locker - not too peaceful. I went to the bathroom and was put off when I noticed one of the front desk staff was wearing her shoes in the bathroom (a no no for the patrons) and also didn't wash her hands after using the restroom (gross). Then when I changed and went to try the Himalayan salt sauna, one of the staff was laying on the floor of the sauna watching videos on her cell phone with sound, which was completely distracting and not relaxing at all. I asked her to turn off her sound and she left the room, but I can't believe that it is normal for the staff to watch videos in the spa area? The common relaxation area wasn't relaxing at all either because so many people were talking loudly on their phones, or watching videos. This felt like a waiting room at an office building, not a relaxing spa experience. My actual service was the body scrub and gold massage, which was good - but unfortunately I was cold and uncomfortable most of the time. Given the overall vibe - not relaxing at all - and given that I was uncomfortable and cold during my massage, I definitely would not come back and would not recommend this to anyone else. read more

It's so old and dirty. For instance, multiple faucets are rusty and not working, but they haven't been fixed for years. Water pressure is so low in the shower area. Steam sauna smells moldy. I don't even bother to go into jacuzzi because the water is not clean. After I come out of the spa, my hair smells moldy. But the owners do not spend any money on improving the property, because it's a monopoly - it's the only Korean spa in the area so people have no other option. The services (scrub and massage) are mediocre - the staffs always look overworked and don't really care. I saw that the owners opened a "gallery" next to the spa. Love this place and for all you get to do it is a great price point to treat yourself and fit some wellness and relaxation into your life. First of all, know what you are getting into before you go. I saw too many women not prepared for the fact that you need to be butt naked for the showers, sauna and hot tub areas. Also someone in a bathing suit. Girl don't do that. You can go do that somewhere else. These areas are segregated so women only in the hot tubs, showers, saunas. Men have their own. Do just know...This is not the Glen Ivy or Sundara or Red Door!! So don't come in here expecting that. This is a KOREAN spa. Traditional bath house type of place. If you're not comfortable with being naked or nakedness around you, go to a more American spa. This is not it if it's not for you. They give you a quick tour if you've never been there. It's a very basic explanation of how it works. But what you're supposed to do is get undressed in the locker room. You can walk naked or with a towel to the shower area. I used a towel. Then shower FIRST. Don't get your dry dirty self into the hot tub. That's a no no. Then you can do the saunas or the tubs. For the tubs ideally for the health benefits you'd cycle through the hot tub, to cold tub (SO COLD) and back a few times. This is supposed to have a lot of health benefits. I got the scrub and oil massage package. Let me tell you I've never been scrubbed like that in my life but I will be coming back! I feel like a sleek baby dolphin. This is in the women's area so you will be naked. You're brought to a room with tables separated a little bit by curtains. You're doused with buckets of warm/hot water, and the lady scrubs you down with loofah mitten things. You're flipped over and the same is done. You shower and after the shower she gave me an oil massage. I wouldn't say it's like a Swedish massage a little more like shiatsu. After doing that and then getting in the tubs for a few more cycles, I went to the common area saunas and lounge area for some snacks and tea. I would bring my own water bottle because they only provide tiny little cups. They provide water, hot tea and iced tea. Also some snacks like fruits and rice crackers and chocolates. It was refreshing and relaxing. I felt like a new person after this experience. All the staff was really nice. I will be coming back! read more

Usually, a nice and relaxing experience. However, recently, not so much. Most of the time, I only use the sauna and steam room facilities that are segregated by gender. No worries there, although you need to call them in advance and ask whether the steam room is working, as it is often under maintenance or broken. However, on my most recent visit, I paid $40 for use of the spa only, and of course, the sauna was lukewarm i.e. not working. But that's not the purpose of my review. After the spa, I decided to relax a bit in the quiet area that is available with couches, chairs and light snacks. This is where the problematic exchange took place. I had already showered and changed back into my clothes and was enjoying an apple in this area, when the manager lady came over to replenish the watermelon. She took a look at me and walked away. She then tasked one of her employees to come over to me and let me know, I was not allowed to sit in this area since I did not partake in the Jim Jill Bang feature of this spa (which, I have done in the past, and in my opinion is a waste of money, (i.e. a cold room that is useless and a mediocre salt sauna in which you will barely break a sweat, but to each his own)). I was asked to move along. Now, I've been in this place a handful of times, and there has never been an issue of me taking a load off and sitting for a spell on one of these couches. They are located in the middle of the facility, in between the Jim Jill Bang section, and the sauna section, so one would think both patrons would have right to sit there in calm meditation or relaxation. Apparently not. If you're not gonna do the Jim Jill Bang, be on your merry way please. Do NOT sit in this common area for any reason and do NOT enjoy this quiet space after your sauna or steam or jacuzzi session. This is NOT allowed. The employee, uncomfortably informed me, in a "my boss is making me do this" way that, as I had already begun eating my apple, I was allowed to finish it, before moving on with my day. Wow, thanks for allowing me to finish the apple (which I understandably did not). I complained to the manager lady, about how this was rude and ruined the tranquility of my day. I also explained that I had sat in this area multiple times without issue. I really didn't know what the big deal was. She did not care. Said nothing in reply. I mean, how stingy can you be? To alienate customers because of an apple? I was just sitting there quietly, and it was just one apple. Jeez. And the place was empty. Then I thought of all the people I'd referred to this place over the past few months. In the words of Julia Roberts shopping on Rodeo Drive, "Big mistake. Huuuge mistake." read more

I love Yu spa and have gone for years to use the saunas and rooms. I felt the scrubs and massages were a bit overpriced compared to my private massage therapist I see. I decided to get a massage today with my sister and it is advertised everywhere that massages are 60 mins and 90 mins. It is $130 for 60 mins. Well I got the massage and it was actually 50 mins. I asked the front desk and they said oh yeah because the other 10 mins are for you to get dressed?! Wtf?! I can't believe they charge $130 for 50 mins. They FALSELY advertise this on their menu it says 60 mins except the fine print on their website apparently. Anyways pretty disappointed in the service. Plus the actual massage was more of her elbow digging into my back vs her hands actually massaging me. read more

Very nice spa experience for a newbie to it all. They offer a tour upon entry, which is helpful. Since the tubs are nude only, bathing suits don't really make sense, though they say you can wear them in the saunas. Everyone was nude when we were there. Locker room amenities were as expected:with shampoos, conditioner, body wash, hair dryers, lotion, filtered water. After hours sweating in the saunas and steam rooms, a cool shower is nice. The cold and hot tubs are truly ice cold and extra hot. Spent 3hrs with the sauna and Jj package with girlfriends on a Sunday. Not a lot of other women there, so we got to chat it up but in general, there are signs posted to keep the noise down and we were shushed once . Very relaxing atmosphere. My friend got a massage and said it was fantastic, especially compared to the one she had gotten from the fancy and expensive estancia hotel spa the week prior. I have been twice to Yu Spa after the pandemic, and really enjoyed both times. I don't think there are many korean spas in San Diego to compare this one to, and I would say it's a bit unfair to compare it to LA korean spas since this one isn't as grand (say, Wi spa). BUT, knowing that I don't need to drive two hours away for a good spa experience, this place does the job! One of these days, I will be sure to set aside the time to really unwind and enjoy all the amenities of this spa. Both times I have used the jjimjilbang, and the last time I was here I got a 60 minute swedish massage (jjimjilbang admission included). My masseuse was great and the experience was very relaxing. They have both types of admissions for sauna (dry and wet) only, or the sauna + jjimjilbang for $10 more. I would opt for the latter especially if you have not been here, and want the full experience of the spas/saunas. The salt sauna gets a bit hot for me, and the clay one is perfect. There is a particular order you're technically supposed to follow, but it doesn't really matter if you want to hop around. I do wish the restaurant was open next door! In the meantime, they have lots of water and tea stations around, plus a common area with some asian snacks (like those rice crackers that remind me of childhood, or the hard guava candies). The common area has comfy seats and tatami-like mat areas to lay around. Perfect for reading a book! If you are able to, I highly recommend going early in the day when they open because it isn't as crowded. I'm not sure if they are limiting capacity nowadays, but if the facilities get too busy then it becomes less enjoyable. read more

This is a China sweat shop! Worst experience of my life. They heard you in like cattle, even giving you a wrist band with a #. After issuing you you # & bar code they throw some prison clothes at you . I'm 6' 200 lbs. & they gave me size 50 pants - no joke. After being hearded into a dark area with a bowl of nuts & a bunch of candy waiting for someone to call your # like the DMV you go off for your message. These people are kind, but have no formal training at all! My message was ok, just because I dictated what she should have been taught. After that I went & laid in a room that was a sauna, with no water near the heater - it was not even hot so I left to shower & asked for another towel. The woman who checked us (me & my wife) in like a TSA agent gave me another to shower off with. Then I asked her where I could dispose of the previous wet one I had laid in where probably 5000 other people had stepped/laid/sweat earlier. Her response was where you came from. Well I came from the common area, she assumed I came from the locker room where the biggest issue occurred. I took a shower & tried to get some crap soap out of the dispenser & all 3 showers we out. So I reached over a collapsible 5' wall in the middle of the row of shower to see if that had soap. It's did not. In the process I knocked over the little wall & my new towel & super size me clothes got all wet again. So I grabbed a "grey" towel from a pile in the men's locker room, only to be yelled at in Chinese and made to put it back. I said ok, then go to the front & get me a towel. My clothes are wet & I'm naked. He refused so I decided I was getting a grey towel & he was not going to stop me. That how the story ended. I should mention parking is a nightmare. It's SURROUNDED by mechanic shops in the strip mall it's in! I wouldn't have paid $50 for the hour long couples message we paid $230 for (tip not included)! Enough said! read more

Ive been here 3 times now and have had pleasant experiences each time, but i do really wish the massage therapists were better trained. The quality of the work has never been there for me and i feel like every person ive had just barely knew what they were doing. its really too bad because the spa and all its amenities are amazing and all encompassing yet the massage --which is what most people are looking forward to, just misses the mark! its not cheap either. I had the best most relaxing experience. Massage was great, using the various sauna rooms was pretty neat as I've only been in one type before, I like the Himalayan salt room the best. I enjoyed the relaxing jacuzzi. Shoes are not allowed one you enter the service areas, bathing suits are not allowed. Showering is required before using services unless you are just getting a massage. I loved the relaxation room and the yummy treats. The have water if you forgot yours. They have lockers for your things and provide a robe to wear along with towels. Don't forget your deodorant as you will most likely shower. Staff is nice, lots of parking, I will definitely be returning and will try the body scrub next time. Bring cash to tip after your massage or you can leave the tip if you pay with your card. I have been going to you spa for a few years now and their general areas are nice aside from some louder groups occasionally. I've had a body scrub which was also fine and a 60min swedish massage recently that was poor. I would not recommend a massage here. Specifically the pressure was poor despite asking for "a lot" of pressure and the worst part was my feet were not done. I asked at the end and she said "most people don't like their feet done." Spend some time at Yu Spa and that's pretty much what you'll get! Yu Spa is a Korean day spa, which means that alongside a menu of various body scrubs and massages, you also have access to the hot tub, cold tub, steam sauna, dry sauna, coed lounge, and the jjimjilbang composed of a salt sauna, clay sauna, and ice room. If you choose not to get any of the body scrubs or massages, you can still pay admission for access to the spa and jjimjilbang. The jjimjilbang is worth it on its own, but do yourself a favor and at least spring for a body scrub. If you get a body scrub, you will be mercilessly exfoliated. It will feel like going through a sanding belt made for humans instead of wood. You will secretly wonder if you're bleeding. You will open your eyes at some point and see all the dead skin that got slagged off your body and feel amazed at how dirty you had become. Then, you'll realize that you have the same number of dead skin cells on your body as you did the day you were born and understand that it was all worth it. I also opted for a massage every time I've come in. I've got some problem areas where I hold a lot of tension. The massage therapist paid special attention to these areas on my body and worked the knots from multiple angles. It hurt, but I felt so much better and so much more relaxed afterwards. Outside of the services, the facilities are open for you to use at your leisure. I like to use the spa after services before getting dressed and heading to the lounge. The lounge has hot corn tea, an assortment of wrapped snacks, water, and coffee table books available. I like to chill out a bit before doing a circuit of the jjimjilbang. When you're finished, there is a powder room available so you can put yourself back together before reintegrating with society again. Overall, a day at the spa has become a necessity for me. Every time I go, I walk out feeling like a new person. If you haven't gone yet, make it a priority. read more

I got a 60 minute scrub + oil massage ($125). You are completely naked in the scrub room with other women and lie on a table covered in plastic. The floors are super slippery, so be careful with this. I found the scrub/massage to be rough and impersonal despite my intimate parts being fully exposed. It was also cold during the service. I had goosebumps the whole time. I got an irritated rash on my chest from the intense scrubbing that took a few days to heal. I asked for no product or services on my face at the start of my appointment--she forgot and I had to get up and shower it off in the middle of my service. I would not classify this as a relaxing service, but my skin is smooth. Positives of the experience were their timeliness and the salt sauna. read more

It was an overall amazing experience!!! I took my mom here for a mother m-daughter date, I booked an 11:30am appointment but got there early and they were able to change to 11am :). They gave us our "uniform" and we changed and did our thing k-drama style. Our ladies took their time and it felt more than 60 minutes of pure heaven. I'be been going to korean spas for over 10 years and this is by far the worst I've ever been to. The staff is not helpful. The hot tub isn't that hot. The sauna stopped working. FYI you have to bring your own sandals or purchase them there or go barefoot. Usually this would earn them 2 or 3 stars. However, my boyfriend came with me and could not use the men's side because in the sauna three different men were openly pleasuring themselves while sitting in the sauna. He was only in that area for less then an hour and it happened three different times. If it had happened once I would say it was a fluke but three times in such a short amount of time?! I would imagine it's happening often. We alerted the staff but they didn't really do much. They offered us two comped passes for next time. There will NOT be a next time. read more

Lacking in many ways, especially in cleanliness. Unfortunately, Yu Spa has gone very far downhill since it opened. Spa amenities are adequate but flat out disgusting level of upkeep. Black mold growing on the hot tub, green water, mold in the steam room, grime everywhere. It just seems like they must never do deep cleanings and over the years that has caught up with the place. To add insult to injury, $50 entry is absolutely wild. For that price you can get day passes to luxury spas. Just can't justify going here anymore. read more

Yu Spa is spacious, clean and nice. They also have options for body scrubs which are intense, but really great. I like to come here for their jiljimbang - different sauna rooms. They have the Himalayan salt room (which is very instagrammable lol), clay room, and the ice room. My favorite is the ice room - it's super chill (no pun intended hehe). Also I really love the pajamas they provide you - it's so comfortable! The wet spa room is where you get nekkid (they separate men and women, fyi). There are showers, a jacuzzi, an ice bath, steam room, and hot sauna room. It truly is relaxing once you get over the fact that you're nekkid and others are too. Had a group of 10, and called in to see if we could walk in at 12pm on a Saturday. They told me that 12pm is peak so we should come in after 3pm. We decided to come in after dinner around 6:30 and the girl at the front desk was really rude to my group and had an attitude with us. She gave us a hard time for not having reservations and said that she will let us in this time. The spa was pretty empty and they did not give us a tour like they did with everyone else. The facility was ok. There was an ice room which was not cold at all. The women's bathroom had a smell. Everything else was fine. read more

First timer here! I found out about this spa a while ago through a coworker went and finally got the nerve to go. I booked at 4, arrived on time but was informed I needed to do a 15 min mineral soak so my appt. Got moved to 4:30 so now worries. I paid before hand which was a little different for me since im used to paying after but my experience was so good I really did not mind in the end. I got a short and informative tour of the facility of where I'll be. Got a small basket of two towels, one big, one small, and the spa uniform. Locker access is as easy as I had a bracelet key to store things whenever. Was a little bit of adjustment for me to fully undress but the environment was very respectful and felt natural very quickly. I was instructed to shower before the hot tub and saw that there were standing shower options and seat options too. There were not enough stools for the seated ones but that didn't matter to me as I was adjusting to being exposed. For people who are more committed to their modesty you can opt for a towel and go to the dry sauna until your service provider calls you instead of baring it all in the mineral soak. As for my scrub and massage that I booked it was a really relaxing and peaceful experience. I feel like I got a lot for what I paid and was super happy. I was scrubbed down, my hair was washed, my body and face got massaged, I got a lovely mixed face mask, I was oiled and smoothed down. I felt like I could start sliding around like a seal. Once I was done I did get a little chilly so I got directed to the dry sauna. I got nice and warmed, had a nice conversation and then got dressed in uniform to go snack of some fruit, tea, and cookies. I was so pleased eating those snacks after an incredible session. I walked around tried out the cold room, and the himalayan salt dry sauna. I do recommend bringing deodorant if you for some reason have plans afterwards because I did sweat afterwards and wished I brought some. Also there are a few nice amenities worth mentioning. There are disposable razors if you wish to shave at any point, elastic hair ties, tooth brushes, and for the women's area I saw hair dryers with diffuser attachment that you as perfect for my wavy hair type. Oh and shampoo, conditioner, body, wash, and lotion. Other than that I made my exit, stopped by the atm which is a $2 charge to take out money for tip if that matters to you. I tipped my wonderful scrub professional for giving me an 1+ of her time and went home feeling great. 10/10 would recommend and will be returning! read more
