We went here because we wanted to have ramen before watching a movie. For a Ramen lover I was very disappointed. Nothing stood out to me with the ramen. I didn't taste the black garlic oil nor did the broth taste creamy. If you want to make it spicy then it is $3.00 extra for that little dollop of spicy paste. It made it a tad bit spicier but for those who like full on spice, you would need another dollop or two. We got seated immediately. But our table was placed right next to a storage table with straws, napkins, plates, etc. like a table to prep takeout. It kind of killed the ambiance. Our drink order was taken but we had to remind them about our drinks AFTER they served us the ramen. There are two bar areas along the walls. One is for boba and the other for ramen. It made me feel as if they weren't sure what they wanted to advertise and sell. There is ample seating, both inside and outside. Our go to is the salmon don (fresh, generous with portions, and always consistent) as well as the Yugo ramen. Their apps are perfect for sharing - the chicken karaage, fried squid, and the fried oysters are all fantastic - the breading is the perfect thickness & all were perfectly fried without being oily or heavy. We've also tried their takoyaki, dumplings, and kimchi (which is house made) - all are great choices. I think given the area and choices, this place stands out as one of the better spots if you're looking for ramen or donburi. Obviously places like ramen Nagi are better but you'd have to drive there. Service was nice, place was clean. Ramen was not bad (considering the area) and their dons are actually pretty good. They don't have tonkatsu unfortunately, but their chicken katsu is reasonably tender, crunchy, and juicy. Beef sukiyaki don is also pretty good but that's hard to mess up. I just wish they used short grain rice as their rice is kinda meh. Overall would come again, I think the flavors are mostly there and nothing was glaringly flawed compared to other similar style Japanese restaurants in the tri-city areas. The ramen was warm rather than piping hot, which took away from the experience. On the positive side, the staff was incredibly polite, and the ambiance was nice. It was not very crowded for lunch on a weekday and we ended up sitting outside. They have individual Ramen bowls or a set menu with Ramen, a side and a drink. The menu has only one vegetarian ramen option and we got that with a side of Spring Rolls. The ramen itself was delicious, full of noodles, veggies, a soft tofu slice and broth. Umami, yummy and enough for one. The spring rolls were great too, one portion has 3 rolls and a dip. They also have rice bowls that we did not try. Some good food near Newpark Mall. I use to come here a lot when I worked near by. The quality hasn't changed since pre-pandemic. Customer service is really good here; everyone is super friendly. The Yugo ramen was delicious and the curry chicken and chicken katsu don were great too! The chicken karaage was also tasty and a generous portion size. My niece didn't like the chicken ramen so I traded her my tonkatsu broth. The chicken that comes in the ramen are very large pieces and the broth was on the sweet side. Dad ordered the teriyaki chicken which was also a large portion but said it was a bit salty. On to the drinks, I tried the guava green tea which was yummy, surprisingly not too sweet ordered as is which is great! My niece enjoyed the strawberry smoothie and they also ordered a Thai tea. The tea is however not as impactful. As a ramen place, we found their ramen also not up to par. The Yugo ramen is ok but the seafood ramen looks and tastes below average. I don't think the food match the decoration and definitely don't match the price. Also big note I don't think this is a Japanese restaurant at all, it's probably fusion of a couple of Asian countries (it's reflected on the menu and the tastes of the ramen).
