Pros: Courteous staff, plenty of outdoor seating, quick food arrival, clean restroom. The ramen was kind of ... unremarkable? I ordered the vegetable ramen and it was kind of bland. It came with corn, shredded mushroom, bok choy, a soft tofu slice, and bean sprouts. The noodles appeared to be spinach noodles because they were green, and they weren't as chewy as I would have liked. I much prefer the vegan ramen from Hinodeya because the ingredients were more varied/interesting and the broth was richer. Yugo Ramen's version felt primarily "healthy" and just not as interesting.
Stopped by before a movie to grab a quick bite. At 4:30pm on a Saturday it was easy for us to walk in and get seated. For appetizers I ordered the Geso Calamari and Chicken Karaage. They came out within 10 minutes of ordering! The chicken Karaage pieces were way bigger than I anticipated and the chicken was very juicy. The calamari is specifically the legs which I personally. The sauce that the calamari came with was packed with a light ponzu/tempura sauce flavor without tasting overly salty. My salmon son had three large pieces of salmon. Great bang for your buck! The salmon was delicate and flaky. The teriyaki sauce on the salmon was very well balanced. The pickled radish on the side helped change up the texture as I made my way through my bowl. The sunset is a butterfly pea drink. It was fruity and not too sweet (the best compliment). I did forget to add in a topping though, so that was on me.
Came here on a rainy weeknight. The restaurant is cute and right outside the Newark Mall. We ordered the Fried Oyster, Roasted Pork Belly, and Takoyaki Then we both ordered the Yugo Ramen The service was wonderful and everything was yummy! The ramen wasn't quite as flavorful as I was hoping but it was still good!
It's been a while since I've been to Yugo Ramen and I have to say, the service and quality of food has remained the same. It's nostalgic to be back to an "OG" ramen place for me in Newark. The ambience has always been relaxing, the type that invites you to stay here way longer after you're done with your meal.
"Warm Bowls, Fast Service, and a Standout Shumai" Food (5 / 5): On a cold day like this, a hot bowl of ramen absolutely hits the spot -- and this place delivers. Right now they even have a Black Friday deal: buy one ramen bowl, get the second one 50% off, so definitely bring a date and make it a ramen night. We ordered the Yugo Ramen and the Shio Ramen, and both were excellent. The ingredients taste genuinely fresh -- the bamboo shoots were crisp (not soggy at all), the chashu pork was flavorful and tender, the broth was light yet full of depth, and the noodles had that perfect firm bite I personally love. Surprisingly, the dish that stole the show was actually the Fried Shumai. My wife couldn't stop talking about how good it was -- even during the drive home. Crispy, flavorful, and definitely a must-order appetizer. Service (5 / 5): The service here is impressively fast. After we ordered, our meals showed up in what felt like 10 minutes. The host was incredibly warm and welcoming -- possibly the owner -- and she even walked over to say goodbye and bowed to thank us before we left. Small gestures, big impact. Ambience / Décor: The restaurant offers dog-friendly outdoor seating, which is a big plus. The outside area has nice seating and feels comfortable enough to enjoy your meal without rush. Overall: Fresh ingredients, fast service, great flavors, and a genuinely kind staff make this spot worth a visit. With the ramen deal going on and that unforgettable fried shumai, you'll definitely want to come back.
This place has so far survived being at Newpark Mall! I come here randomly when I need to charge our car. Boba is okay. They have alcoholic boba. Curious about that, but I didn't get any this time around. I was bummed by the ramen I had. It honestly had no flavor at all. Maybe I'll try something else on the menu next time. Service though is great. Met the owner and she's just lovely. The teen cashier was also amazing too. Very shy but she made sure to be attentive.
Obsessed with this place! I got the vegetarian ramen, switched out the kale noodles for regular noodles, added shrimp, and got it spicy. it was seriously one of the best bowls I've ever had. The restaurant is so clean and the owner is so kind. My friend had the chicken ramen and loved it too!
It's great to have a new ramen option in Fremont, and Yugo gets a lot right. The restaurant itself is modern and clean, with a pleasant atmosphere that's surprisingly nice considering its in the dead nepark mall. The service was a real standout - our servers were exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The ramen is the main event, and it shows promise. We tried the Yugo Special and the Miso Ramen; in both, the broth was rich and the ajitama (seasoned egg) was perfectly cooked. However, a couple of key items missed the mark for us, especially considering the price. The chashu pork was rather bland and not very tender. The bigger letdown was the Okonomiyaki Fries. It's a creative idea, but the execution involved thick, unseasoned fries covered in an overwhelmingly sweet sauce. We found we couldn't finish them. Yugo has a great foundation with its atmosphere, service, and ramen broth. I'd recommend sticking to the classic ramen bowls and passing on some of the sides.
Not too many people are visiting the mall anymore so there isn't too many people eating at the restaurant. Service is always fast and food comes out fast. Yugo ramen (house ramen) is my favorite dish to get and my partner is able to get chicken ramen with chicken broth which is hard to find since most places have pork broth. I've visited this restaurant throughout the years and quality is perfect as always!
I was on an overnight for my work trip and decided to check this ramen restaurant out. I ordered the Yugo Ramen which was their specialty and it was delicious. It wasn't too salty just the right amount of flavors and the broth was very tasty. The ramen noodles are fresh and the accompaniment was fresh and plentiful. The charsu pork was good. I enjoyed the black mushrooms they were tasty. Service was great, fast, efficient, and helpful. I was the only customer in there so I for my food relatively fast. Ambiance was nice, spacious, clean, and alot of seating area.
Nice experience overall. I really enjoyed the outdoor seating , definitely the highlight. The staff and manager were great, friendly and welcoming. I tried the Seafood Ramen. It was okay, with a good one, standard taste. Good spot for the atmosphere and service.
I would definitely recommend this I came here for lunch today and got the salmon and rice I could have definitely shared this because it was a big portion but decide to indulge so delicious and they even have a claw machine for the kidos
Hidden gem! We just recently moved to Fremont and found this place. It's now my go to spot for comfort food. The interior is beautifully designed and decorated with warm lighting and brick making the open space feel warm and inviting. The food and portion size is amazing. My favorite is the Spicy Pork Kimchi Don with a Honeymoon drink, my fiancé loves their Yugo Ramen and Assam Milk Tea. We recently tried their chicken karaage and it was so good! Crust on the outside, tender and juice on the inside. The service is impeccable, every time we've dined in, the workers are quick, check on you often, and the food comes out quick and fresh! We love Yugo Ramen and we wish them success!

I was trying to find a ramen spot for my friend and I to meet up at. So in my Yelp search, Yugo Ramen popped up and well after I looked at it and they ALSO sold boba? Well, you just sold me. In short, a great spot to catch up or hang out with friends, the ramen good, the boba not so good, but lovely service from very friendly staff. I will be back. L O C A T I O N Yugo Ramen is located on the second floor of New Park Mall on the same side as 24 Hour Fitness, Jack's Restaurant and Macy's. Lots of parking but can be a little hard to find something close due to the establishments on this side. Google Maps will unfortunately take you to the parking garage on the opposite side of the mall, so make sure to map yourself to 24 Hour Fitness and it'll be the right side of the mall. D I N I N G You can dine inside or outside. There's a fair amount of tables but they do get busy. We opted to dine outside as it was a lovely sunny day, but it does get a little warm and it's not really covered. M E N U They have ramen (duh), but they also have other items like appetizers, donburi (rice bowls), desserts and beverages. They do have a lunch set menu during the weekdays. Their menu is online and they encourage you to scan a QR code to access their menu. I did see a hard copy of their menus though as I'm sure it's just back ups in case folks aren't as electronically attached at the hip to their phones. I ordered a Yugo Ramen with no black garlic oil as I didn't know how this would affect my garlic sensitive stomach. The broth was rich. The noodles chewy. The egg perfect and the chashu was a balance of meaty and fatty. As I mentioned I did go here because they also had boba. So I got an assam milk tea with no sugar and no ice. You can get 16oz or 24 oz. Their milk teas already come with boba. The fruit teas come with 1 topping of your choice. I felt like their drink was not creamy enough for me. A bit watered down and lacking tea flavor. The boba wasn't great as in not cooked well enough. S E R V I C E I came pretty much 30 minutes after opening and no one was there. Okay there were like 2-3 tables filled but after an hour or so it was packed and filled. The food came out pretty quickly actually and the boba came out a little later than our food. The servers and hosts/hostesses were really friendly. Quite attentive and let us hang out and chat for quite some time outside. O V E R A L L As mentioned, although the boba wasn't amazing and maybe it's because I chose the wrong thing on the menu, the ramen was pretty good and the place is really great to be able to eat outside and hang out with friends. I'd definitely be back for that experience again. read more
Was attracted by the interior and exterior pic here and surprisingly found this "new" extension at newpark mall. True the exterior looks good on a nice weather day, but it doesn't really belong to the restaurant. The inside has a huge boba tea bar that took almost 1/3 of the restaurant. The tea is however not as impactful. As a ramen place, we found their ramen also not up to par. The Yugo ramen is ok but the seafood ramen looks and tastes below average. I don't think the food match the decoration and definitely don't match the price. Also big note I don't think this is a Japanese restaurant at all, it's probably fusion of a couple of Asian countries (it's reflected on the menu and the tastes of the ramen). I gave 3 stars because their servers are pretty responsive. read more

I love this place! I have been here several times. I recently ordered the Yugo ramen on a cold day. It was delicious! So flavorful and love that they give you a generous portion. We came during lunch on a weekend and it wasn't too busy, we got seated immediately. The vibe of the place was nice! We've been to NewPark mall so many times and can't believe we never tried this place until recently. We ordered a few things.. - Takoyaki: great appetizer! it was delicious - the shape itself says it all! It was perfectly crispy and had a generous amount of squid in every bite. - Chashu Bowl: this was my favorite! it had a ton of flavor and the perfect meat to fat ratio. it reminded me of my childhood favorite - Lu Rou Fan (Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice Bowl). - Chicken Curry Noodles: For an extra $2, you can substitute any donburi with noodles. I only took a bite and it tasted just like any regular curry. - Yugo Ramen: I wasn't a big fan of this one, the broth tasted bland and the soup wasn't hot. BUT it came with an egg (most ramen places charge you for it). - Mango Green Tea: Liked this one! It reminded me of Happy Lemon's mango yakult smoothie! Service was good, the servers were pretty attentive! Definitely will be coming back here for that chashu bowl! read more

Pretty solid ramen place! I definitely think that this place is one that puts aesthetics over anything. The presentation was really nice and appealing, which also reflected through the taste! My boyfriend got the chicken broth and finished his whole thing. His broth was super hearty and not too thick just like we like it! The flavor was just right and made us go "mmmm!" as soon as we tasted it. I got the seafood ramen and was super surprised about the variety of seafood that they include! Theres shrimp, imitation crab leg, scallop, bokchoy, etc. They give a fair amount and enough to leave me feeling full. The broth was nice and light, but still had flavor. What I like about this place is that they also have boba!! They have a great selection of boba considering not many ramen places offer such a service! I got the cookie cutter and it was pretty good. Think of it like an oreo slush. Not too sweet. I recommend this place for the vibes and to try out their menu which has a whole lot of variety! read more
OK ramen + boba combination restaurant, at the second story of the mall with a nice interior and a lot of outdoor seating. On a sunny day its nice and shaded and if your kids love riding escalators there is a up and down pair right next to the restaurant. We've been here maybe 3 times, always willing to do a repeat with different menu items. Shoyu Ramen: Mixture of pork broth and soy sauce soup base, Yugo house noodle, chashu pork, soft boiled egg, nori roasted seaweed, bamboo shoots, scallions, sesame seeds, and bean sprouts. Added bok choy to it and it hit the spot for something clean and heavy on vegetables for the kids though the broth tasted a bit too light and watery. The noodles were pretty good and came nicely chewy and not falling apart. Ebifry: Good appetizer, shrimp was nice and crispy, not oily and tasted OK. Reason for the overall review is all of our dine-in food came in to-go containers and we noticed so did everyone else. No one explained what was happening, assuming a dishwasher was broken? It was so wasteful, saw tables being cleaned with all the containers being stuffed into the outside trashcan which was overflowing with Yugo takeout containers. I feel like this ramen shop is a bit over priced. The black garlic ramen broth wasn't very flavorful as well as the chashu. However, I did like the chicken karaage. I honestly would eat more of that over the ramen. It wasn't bad but it didn't stand out much. read more

I really love this place! I'd give it a 4.5 stars. It's consistently delicious. Yugo ramen: Good ramen! Not the best I've ever had, but still yummy. Spicy bamboo shoots: Spicy! It's a good side dish. Chicken karaage: They're jumbo-sized! One of the best karaage dishes in the Bay Area. It's so plump and juicy! Roasted pork belly: So tender, flavorful, and delicious. I LYCHU drink: LOVED this drink! It's on the sweet side, so get 25% or 50%. You'd enjoy the toppings too! read more
Every six months I have to go to Newpark Mall to visit my dentist and the only thing that makes it bearable is a stop at Yugo Ramen for lunch! Their food is delicious! I love ordering their lunch set, a bowl of ramen plus a side and a drink for just $6 more than the ramen would've cost! I usually get the shoyu ramen and the chicken karaage (absolutely love their chicken karaage!!) with a boba drink. The servings are pretty hefty, so I always take the karaage home to have as my dinner. Well, I said *usually*... today I got their salmon teriyaki don for the first time and it prompted me to finally write a review for them! It was wonderful! There were three pieces of salmon on top of rice; the sauce under the salmon flavored the rice perfectly and the pickled vegetable (radish?) and cucumber rounded out the dish perfectly. The salmon was a bit crispy on the outside, but tender and moist on the inside. I specified that I wanted the salmon medium rare, but it was more medium than that; regardless, it was delicious and not overcooked. There was so much food that I ended up taking half of it home! Now, the dilemma will be, do I order ramen next time or one of the rice bowls? Might be a difficult choice! read more

The food was delicious. But most of all I give the place 5 stars to the server and the manager. They are very attentive and making sure you have everything you need. They are very nice. They give a lot of food for the price. My daughter was picky she only likes her rice and chicken they did exactly what my daughter likes. We live all the way in the Bay Area but we don't mind driving here. It's worth to drive. read more
Not a bad spot for donburi. Definitely better don at places like Santouka, but I was in the area. They do have lunch specials on weekdays that include appetizer and a drink. I did see everyone else ordering a boba drink with their meal. I got a pretty basic guava green tea along with my donburi. Let's just say you will need some sort of drink because the food is on the saltier end. Donburi wasn't too bad, my chashu don had a decent portion that can be a meal and a snack. The chashu wasn't as good as the ones I had at Santouka, but it's not too bad for a Newpark Mall spot. Their plastic containers make it pretty easy to take my leftovers back. I was there at one of their outdoor seating on the patio, overlooking this beautiful parking lot. Not too bad when the weather's nice. The slot next to Yugo is gonna be a Chinese restaurant, not sure how their outdoor seating is going to work though. read more

Absolutely fantastic experience! The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Their salmon rice bowl is absolutely to die for! I've also tried the shrimp tempura, fried oysters, beef rice bowl, their signature Yugo ramen, and the roasted pork belly, all incredibly delicious! I almost forgot to mention, their smoothies are super yummy too! The ambiance was warm and inviting perfect for a relaxing meal. Easily one of the best dining experiences I've had. I would say one of the best japanese restaurants in the bay area. Highly recommend! read more

If you really like ramen, you don't have to try this. The soup doesn't taste good, chashu was really dry and tasteless, also the boiled egg. Only good thing is the ramen noodle is pretty farm. That's it. The appetizers are pretty good though. read more
This is a pretty good Ramen spot. Loved the outdoor patio setting on the second floor. They surprisingly have pretty good restaurant options in this part of the mall though the retail portion of the mall itself seems to be dying. Having both dined in and gotten to-go, I feel like I can say Yugo is a decent choice for ramen. If you like ramen with a lighter, less salty broth this place is for you. Everything was tasty but the ramen felt like it was missing something. What I've tried and their rankings: 1. Yugo Ramen 2. Shoyu Ramen 3. Miso Ramen Their online ordering service is very easy to use! Service is good. I felt comfortable enough to dine alone here. The interior of the restaurant is nice as well. Found this place while my son was Yelping. It's located in Newpark Mall in Newark, Ca. You can dine inside or dine outside the patio entrance. It was a nice summer breeze and not too crowded. We were welcomed by the friendly staff. Very hip and chill place. The foods we ordered were fantastic and delicious. To many to describe but one thing I loved the most was the Kimchi. Good food plus a beautiful relaxed ambiance, clean and modern interiors, good music at a decent volume, quick and polite service, acceptable pricing - what's not to like about Yugo. It's part of Newpark mall, meaning tons of free mall parking. Okay, I'll admit I won't be dreaming about the Ramen or the yakisoba (they needed tons of condiments and hot sauce to get the taste right for me), but I'll be back in a heartbeat and I'll definitely order the chicken karaage again. 8 piping hot pieces of succulent chicken thigh meat fried to perfection for under 10 bucks - don't miss the karaage. read more

2/26/2021 Outdoor dining continued My boys were craving ramen and I really wanted to have the fambam try the Kale noodles from Yugo Ramen. We drove all the way from San Jose for the Yugo Ramen Kale noodles today!! We arrived and was greeted by Ryan with a smile behind the mask. We got to pick out outdoor seating of choice and it was a tad cold, they turned on the heat lamps. We ordered lychee & mango slush w/mango stars for the kids. I got a spiked honeymoon boba. We ordered fried shrimp shumai to start and a couple bowls of Yugo ramen special and swapped for the in house made kale noodles. + extra noodles and corn. Soooo good on a cold day! Yum! The boys (6&11) both loved the kale noodles, empty bowls. They said they felt like the were eating regular ramen but somehow healthier! They couldn't taste the noodle texture or flavor difference. I asked if they would come back and my oldest said Heck YES, healthier and good service, why not! SCORE! I'm down for any healthier alternative of course. When we finished our meal, Michelle the owner, came by to thank us for supporting her business. I've only been here once before with friends late last year but she remembered me and my review. She was super sweet and you can tell she was so genuine and grateful for us dining there. She offered the hubs a Royal Tea drink to try. It was sooo good. Might be my new fav. I've only ever had the Peach Me & now Honeymoon spiked boba and both options are good too! Now I have another Spiked option! Ha! Thank you so much Michelle and Yugo Ramen for making this unique Kale noodle offering! It's you, your service and the great food that will keep us coming back. Come support them my yelp friends. Typical food court food. Came to try out this place in New Park Mall - wow I haven't been in so long as most shops here are out of touch with fashion or no longer existent. Only had to wait 5 minutes for the food which was very fast. I ordered the Yugo Ramen which was okay. The chasu was pretty tough to eat and the noodles didn't really soak up the broth. The broth also lacked flavor and seemed pretty standard with only a hint of black garlic. The bamboo surprisingly was the best part of the dish. Overall, probably will not come back and there is currently no outdoor seating for this place although the inside of their store is quite pretty! read more

Restaurant: Yugo Ramen Location: Newark, CA Bill(excluding tips): $30~ Overall: 8.5/10 Service: 9/10 Food: 1. Spicy Miso Ramen 7.5/10 2. Chicken Karaage 8.5/10 The Spicy Miso Ramen got a 7.5/10 because the texture/flavor of the chashu was good, the spice and toppings worked well together. However I feel like the broth could have used more time to allow for it to thicken and be more creamy. The Chicken karaage got a 8.5/10 and might be one of my favorites because they gave big pieces which were juicy and breaded with breadcrumbs while being served with a nice sweet but not very spicy spicy mayo. The service here got a 9/10 because they were very attentive with us and checked in constantly to see how our meal was going and if we needed anything. IG: shmackin.foodie read more

This is one of the best places for ramen in the East Bay. We went on a Friday night, so it was a little busy but also reassuring. The decor is bright and uplifting. We ordered the chicken karage for apps and they were the best I've had in the Bay Area. For entrees, my wife ordered the yakisoba noodles and I ordered the house special ramen. Both turned out to be good choices. All in all, very satisfying! read more

During this difficult time, this local restaurant reopened and fills our stomaches to the brim with hot savory broth and chewy al dente noodles. Signature pork, miso, shio, shoyu, chicken, seafood, even vegetarian ramen, they make sure to feed everyone that walks through their doors. Let's not forget those donburi bowls heaping with plump rice and generous portions of protein. Salmon teriyaki is a household favorite! One day, I'll order the infamous chicken katsu bowl. Appetizers! They've got them all: crispy juicy chicken karaage with a mild sweet mayo dip, fried oysters, gyoza, garlic edamame, calamari, takoyaki, okonomiyaki fries ... if we want it, they've got it! Boba! They have the best boba drinks in the whole mall! Fresh fruit teas like guava green tea with a free topping, pearl milk teas, creamy avocado slushes, and many specialties. Thank you so much to owner Auntie Michelle for her infinite kindness and warm smile. She's the main reason why we return every month, besides her food and amazing boba drinks. To think, I became her honorary niece all because I wrote my gratitude for her and her incredible staff on that first visit receipt two years ago.
