After a Broadway show, my wife and I wandered down the restaurant-lined streets nearby and noticed this Thai spot on the corner packed with both tourists and locals--a great sign. Even though it was already 10 PM, the friendly staff welcomed us and seated us right away. As we looked around, dish after dish came out of the kitchen looking incredible, and everyone seemed genuinely happy with their meals. I started with the coconut chicken soup and a cocktail, then ordered the basil fried rice with shrimp. My wife chose the spicy noodle soup. We both agreed that every dish was perfectly seasoned, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. Simply delicious! In fact, we enjoyed the food so much that we returned the very next day and ordered the same meals. Everything was just as good the second time around, which says a lot about a restaurant's consistency. If you're looking for a late-night dinner option when many places have already closed, don't overlook this gem. On March 21st, after visiting the Fountain House art gallery, my family and I were walking down 9th Avenue looking for a place to eat when we came across Yum Yum Too--and I'm so glad we did! The restaurant is cute and quaint, with great music and a nice, relaxed vibe. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived, which made it even more enjoyable. Now let's talk about the service--there was one main guy hosting and taking orders, while servers came out to bring the food and assist. Everything flowed smoothly, and the service overall was attentive, friendly, and on point. As for the food... WOW. Everything was packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. I had the pineapple fried rice, and it was so good my aunt ordered the same. My mom, dad, and brother had the salmon, and my sister got the drunken noodles--every single dish was a hit. Drinks were just as good! I had a whiskey mule, which was excellent. Everyone else enjoyed Thai teas, and my sister had a Prosecco--no complaints across the board. The food was so good, I even ordered another pineapple fried rice to-go for my partner--and he loved it. I don't even eat leftovers like that, but I had mine the next morning for breakfast... that's how good it was! 10/10 experience. Flavorful, satisfying, and worth every bite. I went to Yum Yum Too for the first time tonight after going to see Moulin Rouge. Upon entering, we were greeted by the hostess and seated right away. For my drink, I got pineapple juice, and since I always get noodles at Thai places, I thought I'd switch things up and get the tofu and vegetables in Thai basil sauce, as well as the tom yum soup. Both were extremely delicious and flavorful, and I had enough of my main dish to take back home with me. The tofu was pan-fried instead of deep fried, which I appreciated. It honestly made me enjoy my dish even more! Even the rice on the side was delicious- it didn't need any added seasoning like soy sauce, which I say is a success. The restaurant was also packed, but was fairly quiet despite this. One thing I was impressed by was how good the prices were- they have a 5-course pre-fixe special for $26.95, which includes soup, salad, an appetizer, an entree, and ice cream. A few of their mixed drinks are under $9, which is basically unheard of in this city, particularly in Manhattan. I came here a handful of times about 10-15 years ago but I would often prefer to go to one of their sister restaurants over Yum Yum Too, but now that both of those sister restaurants have gone, I came to revisit Yum Yum Too and enjoyed my meal! I started with the fried tofu appetizer and then got the Rama dish with tofu (which I was happy to have been steamed tofu instead of fried). The fried tofu was nice and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The Rama dish had a lot of vegetables (green beans, broccoli, carrots) which was what I was looking for. The sauce was delicious - my only criticism was that I would have liked a little more sauce overall. The rice that came with it was nice and fragrant. The portions aren't as big as some other Thai restaurants in the area but they are priced slightly lower to compensate. The servers were friendly and helpful. Inside, the lighting was dim overall but there were lights over most of the tables. Very comfortable atmosphere for a nice relaxing meal. read more

Suggested by one person in the group, I was also craving Thai food on this most recent trip, it was easy to find from our hotel down 9th Avenue a few blocks away. We all ordered their Prefixe Menu for $26.95 that includes a soup, salad, appetizer, main course and a dessert. What I chose was the Tom yum goong Soup. It was a little bit spicy which included mushroom and shrimp in lemongrass soup, simply made. Next was a Thai garden salad with mixed greens cucumber, tomatoes, bean spout with peanut dressing. Refreshing! For Appetizer, I ordered the Steamed vegetable dumpling, stuffed with carrot, cabbage mushroom, tofu & glass noodle. I wish there was one or two more pieces to complete my hunger. If it was filled with pork or chicken, maybe it would have been just right. For my Main Course I chose Karee with Pork. This was a mild yellow curry simmered with potatoes onions and carrot. Very satisfying and just the right amount of jasmine rice on the side. Lastly for dessert you choose from either green tea or coconut ice cream. Coconut it is! Overall, I was surprised at how good the food was and how many times I've walked past this restaurant when in Hell's Kitchen that I've only ever come here this first time. My friend and I came here for lunch because I wanted to try their $26 Pre Fixe special. The interior was decorative with a welcoming atmosphere. For my first course, I opted for the Coconut Chicken Soup. This was creamy with true coconut taste and the chicken was nicely tender. Then came Spring Rolls with Salad. I decided to go with something I normally wouldn't order for the main course, which was Black Garlic Pepper Pork with mushroom. This was served on a bed of lettuce and was topped with scallions. I also requested Sticky Rice to go with it, which was an extra $2. The pork was juicy and full of yummy, savory sauce. Sticky rice was not very good, as it didn't have that glutinous consistency I like. My friend ordered the Tamarind Duck, so I got to try some of it. The duck was succulent and well seasoned. Dessert was Coconut Ice Cream, which I enjoyed. It was creamy, milky, smooth. Service was decent. Our waitress was friendly and our food came out in a timely manner. The Emperor Duck special is served with a cone of jasmine white rice and salad. The salad has a good salad dressing that is very delicious. The duck leg quarter and breast rest upon a bend of red bell peppers, celery, fresh green beans, and a Thai chili sauce that is fresh and spicy. It was the best Asian duck that I have ever had. Another great Thai restaurant in Hell's Kitchen! I came for dinner and ordered from the prix fixe menu ($27), which was quite a good deal for a soup, salad, appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert (although everything other than the main dish was quite small). To start, the Thai garden salad and original spring rolls were very standard in quality - not much to note there. The Galangal soup had a very nice coconut flavor to go with the chicken pieces and mushrooms inside. The Pad Woonsen was definitely my favorite dish as these stir-fried glass noodles were surprisingly flavorful - more so than normal glass noodles. For dessert, the coconut ice cream was nice and creamy and had little coconut shavings inside too. Outside of the prix fixe menu, I also tried the Mixed Seafood Pineapple Fried Rice ($21), which was good but rather standard in quality. The place itself has a pretty normal Thai restaurant kind of vibe. It is medium sized with a decent amount of seating inside. Most of the tables were full when I went for a Friday night dinner, but I only had to wait a couple minutes to get a table. The staff are fairly friendly and attentive. The service speed is pretty quick. Overall, I would definitely recommend Yum Yum Too if you are looking for good Thai food in Hell's Kitchen. Bottom line - coming from a self-purported Thai cuisine aficionado, I WOULD FOR SURE COME HERE AGAIN next time I'm in town. We (party of 2) walked by this place on our way back from an afternoon of foot-touring the city as we headed back to our hotel and glanced in and liked what we saw. I wouldn't come here either if you're looking for an intimate "date night" type place - even though the interior decor is so eclectic, tasteful and cozy. I say not a date-night-venue only because of how small and crowded-feeling the place is. If you want your next-door-table listening in on your convos, that's what you'll get here. Not at all a knock on Yum Yum Too (that's actually the vibe and atmosphere we like!). Just telling you like it is. The food, which is the star of the show, is delicious! Authentic Thai for sure. No pretenders here. We each got an entree and had tastes of each others'. I got the Drunken Noodles with Chicken ($17) and my companion got the Green Curry Tofu ($17). We ordered a Pork Gyoza appetizer to start. The fried dumpling gyozas were delicious. Piping hot out of the kitchen, they hit the spot. The entrees were substantial portions for the money (imo - and especially in NYC). The Drunken Noodles with Chicken was sooooo good. Noodles were chewy just-so and the veggies were crisp and fresh. A wonderful flavor combo in every bite! The Green Curry Tofu was pretty good. The curry flavor and sauce were really good. The tofu was okay but some of the cubes weren't very soft and were flavorless (i.e., those cubes seemed a bit stale and weren't soft enough to absorb the sauce very well). All to say, probably would not opt for tofu next time - I'd go with a meat instead. The menu is substantial - allllll the Thai classics and then some (a good selection of Yum Yum Too specialties). I took pics of the entire menu including the drink menu so check them out. Service was good - nice and friendly and responsive. We never felt rushed which we liked because we just wanted to hang, enjoy our meal and soak in the NYC vibes, scene, people and ambiance. And the staff indulged us to allow us to do that. Prices (again, for being in NYC) were reasonable. Not break the bank and decent value considering large portion sizes, food flavor and quality ingredients, good service and pleasant decor/ambiance. Our bill (2 dinner entrees, 1 side rice, gyoza appetizer (5 pieces) and a beer (bottle)) was $55 (before tip). Not bad. We saw the Prix Fixe menu which I've read Yelpers review here and rave about but I'm not convinced it's the best value. I think you can order a la carte and if you're not stuck on having to get your own appetizer all to yourself AND have your own dessert to yourself (after all, #sharingiscaring amiright...and also saves you $$!! ), I definitely think you can come out ahead, price wise (by ordering a la carte)...AND feel satiated. For a quaint little tiny Thai joint on Restaurant Row in Hell's Kitchen, and for a place that seems to have a pretty impressive longevity and staying power (I scrolled and saw reviews here from 10 years ago (!) which DOES say a lot about this place), i would call Yum Yum Too a TRIED AND TRUE GEM!! And it did not disappoint We got shrimp basil sauce with Thai fried rice and tom yum goong (soup that has shrimp in it and more).
