This place NEEDS to have table service on a Friday (any day really!!) Rule on Friday's as of this post , is that they only do takeout on Friday. And now I understand why. This sushi, hand rolls, and specialty rolls are AMAZING!! Fresh fish, warm fresh sushi rice, all other ingredients are fresh and piled high!! Yume sushi has become our go-to sushi spot. The sushi is delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is super friendly! We have only ever done takeout so can't comment to the in person service, but from my experience picking up they are always on top of it and on time for our pick-up order. After hiking the Discovery Park trail, we decided to check out this charming little sushi spot in Magnolia. We ordered the Yume Roll, Hot Mess Roll, and Salmon Tataki. That day, they were only offering takeout, so after a friendly chat with the owner, picking up a few of their adorable dog stickers, and making the 30-minute drive home, we were happy to find the food held up perfectly. The fish was fresh, expertly prepared, and totally hit the spot after our cardio filled adventure. We're not often in the area but I can see this being a hit with all the locals. In the small and quiet neighborhood of Magnolia, you will find a cute little sushi restaurant with very limited seating and the best service ever. With only one server, she still managed to create such a great environment and experience for her guests. Even when it was so busy she was considerate of us and was very kind and even gave us recommendations and advised us how much was enough food for two people. The food was delicious and the Crazy Roll actually was CRAZY GOOD! The fish is fresh, you can tell. We also got the sashimi platter, a volcano roll and the crispy rice tuna. Everything was so good my boyfriend really loved the volcano roll and he doesn't like sushi that much. Just 10/10 all around. Will definitely be coming more often. read more

I wasn't eating inside because on Fridays it's ordering to go only except I did wait inside after mailing out a package. Since I began my trek of saving the planet one reusable at a time, Yume has been a tremendous partner! I order my food, bring some of my reusable containers to the restaurant, and they helpfully point out the ones that would work best with my order. I appreciate their enthusiasm to reduce single use, unnecessary plastic by supporting me when I bring my own containers! Now onto the food! Yume slings incredible cocktails!! Their Lychee martini should not be missed! Yume is my go to spot for exotic, delicious cocktails!! Once there, how could I forego their food?! I am partial to barbecued eel (unagi) and love the Tiger and the Dragon rolls. Of the two, tiger is my favorite! Give it a shot. Summer is coming, I highly recommend meeting a friend for happy hour, sitting out on the sidewalk with a lychee martini, delicious food, and inevitable laughter as the martini kicks in. Two words: Happy Hour!! Came here for happy hour one day, it was so good! Prices were super reasonable too. We thought the portions would be tiny because that's what typically happens for happy hour but they were all full size rolls and we actually ended up ordering waaaayyy too much food. Personally I'm not a fan of the salmon skin roll but aside from that, everything on the happy hour menu was super good (we may have ordered one of everything...). If you want basic sushi that is good and reasonably priced then come here! Not the fanciest but tasty and worth it. I was very pleased to hear that their happy hour extends to go to orders, which was fantastic. It took a little while for the food to be ready since there were so many orders and only two employees, so next time I'll call in the order and pick it up. I'm not a major sushi person, but my best friend is so I searched the area we were going to picnic in. I'm not super high brow with most foods, usually the best places are the hole in the walls. However with the rawness of sushi I want something better quality so I'm not worried about any kind of illness. I ordered the rolls for babies--aka anything tempura--and the happy hour rolls, which they still offer during COVID for takeout. The Vegas roll was outstanding, probably the best I've ever had. The roll with shrimp tempura with a ton of stuff on top (smoked salmon?) was also pretty great. The happy hour rolls were meh, wouldn't order again. Too plain for my taste. Sushi is a strange dinner meal, I always wonder if I'm supposed to make a salad for the side because I'm never full for that long. But also feel like two fancy rolls for one person is too much food but also adds up quickly. This place wasn't cheap, or that affordable for regular dining--but no where in Seattle really is. Native Portlanders, like myself are a little spoiled with high quality food always being very inexpensive. Everything to eat out up here costs about 30% more outright + 10% tax. I'd say for the good rolls here estimate about 30$ a person. Our total was like 87$ for three people. Overall amazing taste, and quick service. A-OK sushi in the Magnolia neighborhood. My friend and I came here for happy hour and though the service and large pours of wines were fantastic, I can't say the sushi/fish was the best. There were only two tables left in the small space for happy hour on a Friday, as this place was packed with families. But happy hour is served in the entire space - not just the bar. For drinks my friend and I ordered happy hour wines for five bucks and ordered sushi from the happy hour menu, nothing costing more than 10 bucks. The Magnolia Roll, which was a California Roll with salmon and avocado on top was fine. The avocado was a little too ripe, making it more of a smear versus cuts of avocado slices. We also ordered the Seattle and Spicy Tuna Rolls, which were standard. And the Crunch Spice Tuna Roll was something I wouldn't order again, as the sushi was shaped as a doughnut with spicy tuna on top of too-fried of rice. Although I understood that the rice would be fried, I was hoping that it would still have a soft texture to it, so that it wasn't overly fried and still possible to chew into the roll. But most of the rice base was fried, so was hard to bite into. I will say though that the service and large pours of wine were awesome! Staff was friendly and continually checked in with us, despite how cramped and busy the place got. And the pours of the happy hour wine were much larger than what most places would provide! Heck yeah! All in all - Yume Sushi isn't somewhere I'd come back for sushi, but it's a nice neighborhood spot with fantastic happy hour prices. read more

Tonight was the Magnolia Art Walk so we thought it would be perfect to top Magnolia Art off with some sushi Art at a brand new Magnolia sushi restaurant: YUME Sushi. This was their soft open, so no points are lost tonight on service. I'm sure it will be fine. In fact it wasn't bad tonight! Considering how busy it was tonight, the service was fine. We tried many things: Sunomomo Salad - sort of a Japanese Ceviche? High marks Agedashi Tofu - flavorful broth - the coating was a little gummy but I'm not sure why. Blitz Sushi Specialty Roll: Inside: Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail; Outside: Spicy Tuna, "California mix", avocado. WOW - this roll had everything. I took a cross section photo - check it out. Delicious. TuMa Specialty Roll: Spicy Tuna and cucumber on the inside with seared tuna and tobiko on the outside. Excellent. Not really spicy. Miso Soup: crazy salty - please fix! We did get a free bowl, so I'm not complaining. Ordered a rice bowl with Honey Miso Baked Salmon - but OOPS they were out! No problem - it's their first night. Instead we got Gyo Don (marinated beef over rice). On a scale of one to YUM it was YUM. Nigiri Set A: Salmon, Tuna, Albacore, Yellowtail and Escolar - everything fresh and wonderful. See photo. Amazing ! This place left me speechless. Excellent customer service, amazing food, what else can I ask for? I came in on a Saturday night and I lucked out with my seat. Make sure to come in early when they open to avoid on wait times. I can already tell the seats were filling up quickly even when I entered right when the store opened at 4pm. Everybody knows whats good! Ha! My girlfriends and I ordered 3 different rolls, few different sashimis, few nigiris, and some appetizers and let me tell you.. they were all above my expectations. The cuts were thick and extremely fresh. Cant remember the names on the rolls but you can always show the waitress my photos and they can order for ya (: The staffs made sure my drinks were never empty and always checked up on our table. Super cute owners who are so passionate about the work is something that I can really appreciate. Everyone was so friendly and quick on service. Inside feels super cozy with modern decoration. Date night or an outing with the family, Yume is perfect for any occasions. I cant believe I just discovered Yume! This is my new favorite sushi spot and I cant wait to come back with my family! This is a small and intimate sushi restaurant located in the quiet Magnolia neighborhood. This is a good spot for take out if you live nearby. They have a big menu (which is unfortunately hard to read). The basic unagi roll was tasty, but the "hot mess" roll was a little too close to its name - flavors and textures didn't really compliment each other just sort of slid off the roll. If I go back, I think I'd stick with the simpler rolls, which are also a lot cheaper. read more

Yu-MEH would be a better name. I've had better sushi and much better service elsewhere. Yume is definitely clean and pretty on the inside, but the Americanized take on Japanese food and sloppy service are just barely middle-of-the-road. We arrived about 15 minutes after they opened, and their disorganized scurrying hither and yon made it clear that they weren't really ready to receive guests. The food was a bit better than the service, but I wish we had stayed clear of the Uni Special, which was 2 pieces for $10. One piece of urchin was decent, but the other piece was most assuredly "yesterday's fresh fish" as you can observe in my picture. See that sad-looking little pile of slimy wetness? That was supposed to be a piece of urchin. It appears third from the front in the picture of six gunkan. Similarly, one serving of ikura was glossy, dark, and rich, while the other was dried out and so discolored that it looked like it had slouched in the fridge without a covering on it overnight. Shabby presentation! Some of the other pieces of sushi were a bit better, yet the whole meal was still barely mediocre. And that arrogant little sushi barman! What a snotty brat! Even though we sat at the sushi bar, he refused to acknowledge us, nor did he smile even once. We had to order sashimi and sushi from the waitress, who was very charming, I should say. When I finally decided that supercilious sushi-boy either spoke no English (or pretended not to understand), I tried to engage him in Japanese. No dice. He was especially rude to the kitchen help and treated his co-workers as annoyances. Would I make a special trip back here? Nope, not even for carry-out. I guess if I lived in Magnolia, and if every other restaurant in the Village were closed, I might reconsider going back here. But then again, maybe not. read more

I am so so happy to have a great sushi place in the Magnolia Village!!! I don't know how I have missed this place for a year and a half now. I feel cheated. I go into the village often and you might miss it too if you aren't looking for it. That's my ONLY complaint. However, it is on McGraw near the post office across from Windermere office. I had a Martini and my husband had an Old Fashion the drinks were as good as you would get at any nice bar. In fact, I think my Martini's, yes plural, were the best I have had in a while. Let's talk about the sushi. Even though hand rolls (Temaki sushi) were not on the menu they will make them for you and pretty much whatever you want. So, I had one Tameki salmon and two pieces of salmon roe (Ikura) sushi. OMG...delish...!! My husband had a delicious sushi roll and it too was excellent. We will be back and back again. Food options in magnolia are slim, so it's nice to see that there's a sit down sushi place in the neighborhood now! If you've been here before when it was Oliver Twist, you'll know that the space is very small. They've turned the bar into a sushi bar and put the bar with the alcoholic beverages in the back/kitchen... So it is a little unconventional that your drinks are mixed back in the kitchen. The place was packed to the gills when we went on a Saturday evening and you could tell that the severs were having trouble making their way around the small, narrow space - but overall service was good and they were attentive. We came for happy hour so I only had a California roll and some karagee, so don't feel I can truly rate the food that much. It was good and prices looked similar to other sushi places. Mixed drinks are pricey for what they were though.. they also describe themselves are craft cocktails, but we were sitting right next to the kitchen and could see that the guy making our drinks did not know how or what to put in them. We also ordered a well whiskey coke which is supposed to be $1 off but realized when we got home and looked closer at the receipt that they didn't give us the hh price.
