My father and I came to Sam's Sushi Bar and Grill for dinner and it was pretty good. Especially because I am from los angeles where their sushi game is top tier I give this place a pass! Service is super fast and the fish is actually really fresh. Get the chefs platter!

Ordered delivery and found a long, sharp object in the salmon roe sushi--no idea if it was plastic or a bone, but it was disgusting and dangerous. It was in the sushi, had to spit it out. This place has serious hygiene issues. Avoid at all costs!

Hawaiian Roll & Super White Tuna Sashimi

Upon walking in the service was not very good and continued as such. I ordered the "Hawaiian Roll" which had several types of fish wrapped in cucumber, the idea and ingredients for this roll was great but the execution upon trying to eat it with chopsticks or at all with the way the fish was wrapped up and between the cucumber was messy. I also ordered two pieces of Super White Tuna Sashimi and that was the most disappointing part. The tuna was not the 'melt in your mouth' experience I am used to with this type of fish, it was hard to get bites out of (probably because of fat content) and was very disappointing. The ambiance of the restaurant was oddly spaced out and just kind've strange from what I thought, and again the service I must say was less than helpful. I appreciate their patience with my scrambling for payment but it was not a good experience overall.

Had this sushi spot on my list to try for quite a while since it is very close to my place. Glad to say that it was enjoyable. I had heard their fish has improved over the years and while I can't comment on how it used to be, I though the quality this time was very good. The only downside I have is their appetizers and soups are a bit on the pricey side. Other sushi spots even give you free salad and miso soup to start, but not here. However, the highlight of the meal is the sushi so no disappointment there. I ordered the King Kong roll since I love anything with eel sauce on it. It was very filling and tasty. I also tried some of the other sushi ordered for the table and enjoyed it. Looking forward to a return visit here!

Best sushi I've had in this area for sure is Sam's Sushi. No fancy name like 'Harusame' but good food and service. Sam's space isn't too big or too small which is nice, there is table and booth seating is available. Waitresses came right over with menus and water despite it being a pretty busy weeknight for this visit. In addition to eat in, take out seems to be quite popular here seeing bags and bags lined up on a table with customers and probably door dashers coming in often. To start I got the Yakitori - it's a pair of chicken skewers. Pretty good. How about the sushi? The Tiger roll - was very good and was kind of warm as I think it's prepared. Contains tempura salmon, shrimp, crab, avocado, cucumber, sprouts, drizzled with teriyaki sauce Had a few pieces of The King Kong roll - barbeque eel with crab meat, tempura shrimp, mixed green, with tobiko and eel sauce Negihama maki (yellowtail) was the only real let down here. Very inconsistent with actual bits of 'meat' in some of the rolls. Despite that, Sam's is good and ready to go back next sushi time.

Spicy tuna & I'm not sure, but it was crunchy & good

Our first visit to Sam's & we'll definitely be back. Friendly service & our sushi came out so fast! Chose 4 rolls & they were all delicious. My only issue (possibly unique to me) is that per our Server, all the rolls with "mixed crab" contain imitation crab which I'm allergic to. I'm glad I asked because 3 of our 4 rolls in our original order would've ruined the rest of my night. Other than that we had a lovely experience, tasty food, nice display, clean restaurant, back again soon.

A great space for a nice sushi dinner…read more My partner and I decided on this spot for our Valentines date dinner and we were very satisfied ! Located in a pretty central part of Fremont, it offers a lot in its location. Gas Works park is only about a 10 - 15 minute walk from here which is great! Street parking may be difficult so I suggest looking at the the nearby neighborhoods for parking. The restaurant itself is quite small so I suggest a reservation if you are planning to visit during a busy weekend night which we did. The menu offers a great selection of entrees and we decided to share the tuna dinner and the salmon dinner which came full with nigiri, a roll and sashimi. We also shared a roll in additional to the salmon and tuna dinner. Each entree was perfect to share because there were two of each kind of nigiri on each plate. We were very happy with the quality of the fish and I could not decide which entree I preferred more. The service was not super memorable but I do not remember being unhappy with it either. The price point was quite reasonable for the quality. I was very happy and will be back!

Service: The waiter was friendly and provided recommendations for food. He ensured my water glass was always full. Even the sushi chefs checked in to see if I was enjoying my food. Food: I would recommend starting with a cup of green tea, miso soup, and edamame. I enjoyed all the rolls I had, which were the Hamanegi (yellowtail), Negitoro (fatty tuna), the salmon avocado roll, and the Fremont roll (spicy, with shrimp tempura, avocado, tuna, and salmon as main flavors). If you are looking for something light, go for the standard rolls. If you're looking for something filling, go for the chef's special rolls.

We walked in, ordered at the tablet and sat ourselves down! Water is self serve which we grabbed before finding a seat. I ordered the small una-gyu donburi and this was delicious! Unagi was grilled and seasoned, beef was tender and the rice paired so well with the meat! Good size and we left full! Staff was nice and it got pretty busy after we got our food!

There are no bells and whistles here, just excellent service, fair prices, and fantastic food. There are only a handful of tables, which is really meant for solo diners and two people at best. There is a handful of takeout patrons at any given time, but that's only because of the wait. It's far more enticing to sit in and experience the magic that exists in every bowl. Water is self-serve and thankfully presented in a filtered water tank that spits out cold, delicious water. A majority of the bowls are between $13-16 each, which in today's foodflation economy seems expected. The good news is that the portion is substantial in every bowl. My go-to is their chirashi, which is roughly $19 but features a nice array of fish cuts that include salmon, chopped fatty tuna, masago, fresh water eel, shrimp with albacore and another dose of tuna. The unagi don is their most expensive bowl at nearly $21, but the broiled unagi with the eel sauce that is dynamite. The textures, the sweetness, and the size is all on point. And due to its status as a teriyaki city, I think the chicken teri don is an excellent alternative to all the seafood. The teriyaki hits all the right flavor notes, with just enough sweetness with the tenderness of the chicken meat. Add in another $1 and it's a spicy version. I so wish there was something like this in my neck of the woods. If I lived in Seattle, this would be a weekly destination. I'm already looking forward to my next visit(s).

The food is not the most traditional, but that's ok. It's not trying to be. Unfortunately their pricing model is fairly confusing and abrasive. The menu is an ocean of add ons. Almost like the CEO of Spirit Airlines tried their hand at being a restauranteur, everything that's usually included at a Korean Restaurant is a separate upcharge here. Take their star dish as an example, the stone pot bibimbap. This starts at $19 which is about average, but includes no protein (+$7 for bulgogi) or any banchan. The bowl is good, yes, but it's not doing anything special enough for me to justify the pricepoint. I don't usually focus on prices much in my reviews, but it's hard not to feel like Made in House is taking its patrons on a bit of a ride.

You order at the kiosk/tablet, pay, get your order number, go get your drinks, find a table. They will call your name or number when your order is ready. We tried the promo Oyako Sando(egg salad and Chicken Katsu together) sandwich. It's a honker of a sando, messy, hope you like mayo, katsu wasn't as crisp as I liked, bread does get a bit soggy at the end, napkins are your friend. We also tried the regular Pork Katsu Sando. Same here, wasn't as crisp as we thought it would be, pork was ok too, pretty classic sandwich. Made these into combos, which comes with a choice of fries and a drink. You get to choose your seasoning on the fries, we got one Nori and Spice style. Combo comes with a fountain drink, or pay a little extra for a bottled drink. FYI: They go heavy on the seasoning for your fries. You get a choice of dipping sauce, we chose their Katsu sauce and the spicy mayo. Another FYI: Spice fries with spicy mayo gets a little heavy in your mouth with the spice. Don't forget to clear your own table when you are done. Prices are about $20/person if you get a combo. Overall, glad we came by to check it out so we know.
