I've been wanting to try this Katsu spot for a while so decided to check it out for lunch. When I walked in there was maybe two other people and then slowly but surely people started filling up the restaurant. I wanted to try different kinds of katsu so I got the assorted katsu plate. It came with cheese katsu, pork katsu and shrimp tempura. It also came with rice, cabbage salad, soup, kimchi, radish along with dipping sauces for the katsu. It cost $23.99 which I thought wasn't so bad. It took awhile but that's good because it means it's cooked to order. The temperature of everything was perfect. Not too hot but not warm either. The cheese katsu had a delightful sweetness to it. The pork was cooked perfectly and shrimp tempura tasted well with the tartar sauce. I really enjoyed the dressing on top of the cabbage salad. I ate everything and felt satisfied. The tables and are were clean and they were playing K-pop which is always a plus. Also they have tvs where sports were playing. Staff were super friendly too. Only con I would say would be the seats. They weren't very comfortable so it doesn't make me want to stay. I'd definitely come back though to try the chicken katsu and their udon noodles. read more

This is the best katsu place in the Bay Area, hands down. We came here on a Sunday around peak lunch time. Waited over half an hour but was totally worth it. Most entrees are close to $20 but you get a large portion. The katsu fillets were perfectly fried. Very crispy on the outside but the meat is moist and tender. You get a katsu dipping sauce, a couple of small pickled vegi side dishes, rice (except if you ordered noodle dishes), and a small bowl of soup. Our party had the Katsu with spicy chewy noodles, shrimp katsu curry udon, chicken katsu curry udon, teobokki, cheese katsu and the katsu curry with rice. It was a totally satisfying meal and we will be back again when in the craving for excellent katsu. read more

went on a friday night for dinner. we got there around 6pm and were the 8th group on the waitlist. we waited about 20 minutes, but by the time we left, the waitlist was around 20. interior is cozy and clean, but small. order on the ipad which is quick and efficient. plenty of free parking in the plaza - curry katsu rice (5/5): comes with kimchi and pickled daikon, cabbage salad, and a light soy based soup. curry was rich and really flavorful, and the katsu was super crispy. so good! portion sizes are pretty good - my friends got the shrimp curry udon, chicken katsu, and curry katsu udon, and they all liked their dishes! - my brother had actually tried their takeout and their very mindful of their packaging to keep the katsu crisp! overall, a very solid korean katsu place in the east bay and likely my new go-to! will definitely be back to try other items read more

Our party of 6 came around 7:30 PM and there was about an hour wait (as expected since it was a Friday). I ordered the Katsu Curry ($20) and it came out within 10 minutes. Everything was so yummy! The katsu was nice and crispy and the curry was so flavorful. The only thing I think could have been improved was the temperature of the food. But other than that, everything was great! You can't go wrong with a Japanese restaurant as far as service and cleanliness. Very nice straight to the point kind of place to eat great tasting katsu. This place is fairly new but already on social media so the lines could be long but worth the wait. They have variations of proteins to choose from so you're not just stuck with pork or chicken. Wanted to like this place as it has built a reputation locally, and I was left deeply disheartened. The Yumee katsu is well done and crispy - rice was a little soggy. The meal is good but not a must try. More condiments and sauce would be nice. I'd rate the food as 3.5/5. The service was upsetting - I hope they learn and step it up. I ordered on the table kiosk and sat for 30 minutes. Staff passed by me and didn't tell me the kiosks were down. A fellow customer had to tell me that. I made my order at the front, let them know I had been waiting a long time - they informed me that the ordering kiosk was down and no apologies were given. I paid for my meal at the front, didn't put in a tip as I planned to leave a cash tip later. Food was cooked to order, which was good. However, the food was dropped off at the table without courtesy, and my almost empty water was left unrefilled. Another table got a treat as an apology for their ordering system, and I didn't get any. Throughout my visit, no apologies were offered, nobody dropped by later to check if the meal was good. Rarely have I gotten such negligent treatment in restaurants, and I left Yumee feeling disappointed. If you choose to go, may you get better service from them read more

I've seen the cashier eat while running the register. Yumee is a brand new Korean katsu spot right next to Shabu king. We came on a Friday evening the second (?) weekend after opening. Luckily we came right before an insane dinner rush. They have a nice electronic POS system where you can order. The POS system needs to be updated to include descriptions on what you actually get. You'll have to pay at the front after your meal. The store is pretty clean with a modern minimalistic vibe. Unfortunately the food and service falls very flat. The food orders took an extremely long time and I saw plates just sitting in the back not knowing what the hold up was. But the king don katsu along with the rice it came with came out lukewarm or cold. Not only that, it didn't come with the wasabi or sesame seeds mentioned in the "how-to-eat-katsu" instructions on the wall. Careful about ordering the king don katsu, it's actually just extremely flattened and stretched out pork. There's barely any pork in there compared to regular katsu. It's deceptively large but in reality, it's mostly breading. I also wish it came with an option to get the katsu sauce on the side. But also realize that the pork is unseasoned so it wouldn't taste like much. I ordered the chewy noodle katsu dish. It came with some pickled radishes and a soup. The soup was the best part but just a bit warm by the time we got it. It is a cold noodle dish which I did not expect but was not turned off by it at first. It's pretty much a cold summer gochujang konjac like noodle dish with a side of katsu. After finishing our meal, we tried to pay at the front but had to wait standing for about 10-15 minutes while they fumbled to handle the large volume of customers and to-go orders. I noticed that no one working there had strong dedicated roles or priorities that left the front desk empty for an extended period of time. It just seemed like complete chaos in the back and front of the house making everything extremely inefficient. If food is the primary trade of a shop, I would just hope the time, experience, and the money is worthwhile. But unfortunately not this time. I would wait a few months to see if things can get sorted out. read more

There was a spicy sauce, tartar sauce, kimchi and pickled radish that came with each dish. The katsus were crisp and not a bit greasy. Came here twice. Once for lunch and once for dinner on Saturdays, a few weeks apart. The 1st was like a 3/5. The curry flavors were a bit lacking, watery and needed some umph. I came here about five minutes after the 11:00 opening on a weekday and there were only eight seats left. It is somewhat crowded and old-fashioned, but with playing modern tunes playing in the background. I ordered the spicy chewy noodle tonkatsu. Each piece of Katsu was delicate, and the dipping sauce was similar to a spicy version of Japanese katsu sauce. The noodles were also spicy, basically a thicker, spicier version of Korean Japchai . There were vegetable slivers piled on top of the noodles, which I appreciated. The miso soup was similar to Japanese miso soup. The meal came with some Korean bonchon.
