Overall...Average. It works in a pinch but could be better and certainly try to be unique or even match the quaint community of Playa Vista which it is located in. Good for basics, definitely not gourmet. Very few changes in product or deli menu if ever. Location is clean. Prices are average to above. Service is good/friendly. Cold sandwiches only which are pretty good overall. Average price $8-9. The Grilled Chicken Pesto is good, albeit the chicken isn't grilled. The Tuna salad is super drrrrryyyyyy (like cardboard even with added mayo) and lacks flavor. Would suggest adding celery, onion, capers and more mayo. The have whole roasted chicken and french fries but that's pretty much the only hot food they offer. Salad bar is adequate but sort of boring and dressings are limited. Wine selection is rather limited and not very imaginative considering the number of really good/affordable table wines they could carry. You're better off going to Ralph's for both their selection and prices. They don't do breakfast, not even toasted bagels. They don't do coffee. read more

Yummy.com has been a lifesaver, providing great food and delivery service. A couple months ago I was ill with the flu and desperately needed meals and medicine. After checking out grocery delivery in Los Angeles I tried yummy because they were open until midnight and promised 30 minute delivery. They have consistently delivered in about 30 minutes sometimes less and have corrected any problem promptly. They call when something is not in stock and ask if you want the replacement or it to be taken off. I ordered a sandwich late at night and it came without avocados. I called back and they promised to send a replacement sandwich in the morning which they did promptly at the time I requested There are not as many brands as you would find at a regular grocery store, but there is plenty of variety including a lot of organic and gourmet choices. In addition the deli choices have been very good. I highly recommend the fruit salad which is full of seasonal fruit like berries and melon. The BLT it's also awesome comes with lots of bacon and great bread. Overall I've been highly satisfied with the service and the food. The one drawback is that it is not as inexpensive as a regular grocery store if you are used to shopping sales and specials. However if you liv e somewhere with lots of stairs and you need someone to help carry groceries this is a definite great place to try. read more

Consistently good sandwiches. I like them all! I'm also a huge fan of the sandwich trays for catering. They hold up well (don't get soggy) and have good variety. Also, you do well for the cost because some people only eat half a sandwich (sizes are generous). Only thing I don't like is the chicken and fries. I'm a regular customer, but I find their service uneven. Overall, I like their selection of products. Many times items are out of stock or the delivery I receive is missing items that I've ordered. Some delivery people are great, others don't even speak to you. Never buy their oranges. It's very convenient, but sometimes I feel better off making a trip to the grocery store. read more

One of the most useful businesses in Playa Vista is the tiny grocery store and deli, Yummy. We live within a 3 minute walking distance and probably visit Yummy twice a month for some last minute need. We are home cooks, so it might be something like an onion, or tub of sour cream. A young tan boy was at the store in Playa Vista at Yummy, he wanted to exchange his ice-cream and the cashier would not do it without the manager. He seemed upset and dashed off... I understand the protocol yet, it took a lot of courage for this young boy to come back for an exchange. Today to all the mothers whom trust their children to do the right thing, I encourage you to support your children. I would have paid for the exchange of his sweet treat but off he went back out of the store. It wasn't about right or wrong...it's about teaching our children they can ask for what they want. It takes courage! I wish I could have been upfront, quickly, and paid for the ice-cream. Something to think about..... Convenience! Yes, the "grocery" side is a tad overpriced but one does not do major shopping here. They stock everything you need in an emergency, to make a meal or the fill a craving. Great place to go for last minute items needed. Sandwiches are tasty and generously sized. Selection for groceries is great too. Only complain is that their prices are high, but I guess that's what you pay for when it comes to convenience. High Prices; Low Criteria for Professionalism: Unbelievably extortionate prices for a "convenience" store, especially compared to Whole Foods (organic grocery store) and CVS (drugstore) just down the street. Do NOT order produce in delivery as they have a very high rate of bringing you spoiled or almost-spoiled produce that won't last longer than 1 day after being purchased! Variety of options in products ranges from extremely limited to decent. At least 90% of the cashiers here are unbelievably incompetent at bagging, as though they were never trained how to do simple bagging; They literally just throw things into the bag with no care whatsoever as to what they may be smashing or puncturing - despite the fact that you just PAID for those items! The cashiers are also insultingly slow! You will easily be waiting in a very long line any time you're not the only customer in the store. Additionally, there are constantly items that are put out to purchase yet were not put into their computer system first, which also holds up the line - horrible management and organization! The work ethic at this location is just unbelievably insulting. (Though luckily, they've gotten rid of most of the cashiers that also had really bad attitudes and were rude and disrespectful to the customers.) Food from the deli is very expensive but very good if you don't mind the cost - but be warned that the chicken and fries especially are VERY oily and may make you sick if you're not used to it. The day-workers at the deli are much more friendly whereas the night-workers at the deli are very rude and disrespectful - they'll even ignore you when you're just trying to be nice and thank them for making your sandwich/salad/meal. The staff often starts closing off some of their items before closing, so you can only buy some items past a certain time or you have to wait for an employee to re-open the display (often in the produce, dairy and deli sections) which is incredibly rude to the customers since the whole store is supposed to be open til midnight - not just part of the store. Aside from the location and hours of this store - which are very convenient - almost all other aspects of this location need to be improved massively! read more

Always super convenient when I don't feel like cooking. Their chicken pesto sandwich and salads are very good and healthy. I wish they had more variety in the grocery department, though. The drivers are always on time and very friendly. I guess my only complaint is that they are in average more expensive that normal grocery stores but who wants to drive at 11:00 pm to the store? Yes, its prices are more expensive than a grocery store - all neighbourhood markets are, so that's a given. I do have to give Yummy high marks for being so convenient, staying open late, delivering on time every time, the genuinely friendly delivery staff, the low $3 delivery fee and the interested assortment of grocery items. The one thing I would suggest is that they better audit the expiry dates on their frozen foods. We've ordered several packages of the frozen Comfort Gourmet Mac & Cheese - unfortunately all were freezer-burned (due to being thawed and re-frozen??) and baked up as watery messes. Disappointing, as those puppies are expensive ;-) Anyway, yeah, the selection is limited and items can be pricey, but this isn't supposed to be your main go-to-for-groceries super store. Yummy is a great little community market, but one of the main reasons I visit Yummy is for their fresh made to order sandwiches. I am addicted. Their spicy chipotle chicken sandwich is awesome. I use them strictly for grocery delivery and they are by far the best of the local stores! They deliver 1/2 hr. after the order is placed and if they are out of something that is listed on their website, they call and ask if you'd like a substitute. Absolutely no other market does this! Their produce is fresh, fresh, fresh and their prices are really good. I only use Von's.com once every six weeks for items that Yummy. does not carry, like fresh fish and some fresh meats. I would recommend this wonderful little company to anyone living in their delivery area. They just opened a new branch in Silver Lake. read more

I am in no way a regular at this store due to the high prices BUT it is sooo convenient and has been a life saver many times. From a quick stop to grab some spaghetti sauce for the pasta I was making for dinner to realizing you're out of milk and still have 3 more days before you plan to do the normal grocery shopping to a quick ice cream sandwich pickup to enjoy as you sit and chat in the park with friends. This place is walking distance of my home so I don't have to get into the car and drive to Ralphs or Albertsons for the one item I desperately need that day. I guess I save money in gas and put it towards the slightly higher prices. A good trade-off. The store is small but has pretty much everything you need as well as a little deli where you can order items to go. I always see the yummy.com cars around town. There is ample parking in a lot next to the store and on the street. They also have a delivery service where you just buy what you want online. Call me a spoiled brat but I love Yummy.com...especially the one in Playa with fresh whole hot roasted chickens and french fries. I'm not sure why the other locations don't offer hot food but as of now I don't think they do so I feel blessed to be closest the the Playa location. I called them quite often when I lived in Venice as well. They NEVER take more than 30 minutes to deliver. I must have ordered delivery from Yummy over 50 times in the past 4 years and they were never late, I don't think Domino's has yet to re-claim that guarantee..and the Yummy drivers are always kind. They have been my saviors on many an evening when I was just to ill from a flu or cold to get my own groceries. I also count on them to be there for me when I'm just to lazy , hungover or busy doing other things. Dependable is an understatement, the post office could learn a thing or two from this business. The sandwhiches (Pastrami on Rye) is more than I would expect, $7.99 as is the side of french fries ($2.99). The Pastrami is generous but only 2 pieces of bread, deli brown mustard (makes it good), and pastrami. The fries were greasy meaning, the oil was not hot enough. They had to do a second batch of fries because the first batch did not come out with the sandwhich, they sat there for over 5 minutes before my sandwhich was ready. Awesome. I don't shop at the market, but I have ordered for delivery a few times and it takes literally, 20 minutes from the point I submit my order till the knock on my door. I have been ordering from yummy at LEAST once a week since it opened two years ago & they are on point. They always deliver on time & the rarely mess up. And if they do, they are quick to come back with the correct order (good thing they are only across the street when this happens;) We frequently order the sandwiches. Here are some of our faves: Turkey Royale, Mozzarella & Pesto, Provence & Brie, Egg & Salad & Roast Beef. They quality of meat & bread is what makes these sandwiches AMAZING. They use specialty bread from La Brea Bakery & Boars Head meats. My one gripe about the sandwiches-they are too large. I usually eat half & give the other half to a friend or save it for dinner. The delivery fee is super cheap in my opinion- 3.99+tip or FREE with order over 100. Their prices are slightly more expensive then the bigger chains--for instance no buy one get one free sort of deals here but the convenience is SOOO worth it. I love them! read more
