Convenient location, food is cheap, service was extremely fast, and my boyfriend paid so it was free! You can tell the food is actually fresh, my chicken was crispy, you could tell the broccoli wasn't frozen, even their egg rolls seemed home made and not frozen. As of selecting the right app for the right franchise location wasn't bad enough, my dinner was even worse. Besides not having Singapore Mei Fun like just about anywhere else, I got another version and it was "ok". Frankly, it's hard to screw thats one up. I also ordered a quart of wonton soup which had a good broth, however meat in some of the wontons was "off". I don't know it was bad or undercooked, however, something wasn't right and it was noticeable. The worst part though was when I tried my quart of lobster lo mein with had just about no lobster in it. The funny part was that when I did see lobster it was the size of mini prawns that were maybe a half inch each and looked like something that you would get from A can. Unfortunately the "lobster" also tasted rancid. As a result the rice immediately went into the garbage can and this restaurant came off the list for good. I ordered from here on Uber Eats when my regular Chinese restaurant was closed. It was a big mistake. I specifically said in the instructions that I have a severe shellfish allergy. I'm eating my sweet and sour chicken and I'm like huh, maybe I should take my inhaler, I might be having an asthma attack. I took my inhaler and went back to my food. The next to last piece I bit into was not chicken - it was shrimp. I had to take my EpiPen. It took me weeks to be refunded and I had to show the proof of my emergency room visit. The receipt was printed under that name and stapled to a Yummy Garden menu. The delivery was quick and the food was well packaged. They used high quality take out containers that are microwave safe and probably reusable if I was so inclined. Unfortunately, the same quality was not represented in their food. We ordered the Red Curry and the Panang Curry. Both dishes were not what I've grown accustomed to after sampling Thai cuisine across six different states. The Panang is usually spicy with sweet undertones of peanut butter and served with potatoes and a variety of other vegetables. Their offering was void of potatoes, which I could have lived with if their sauce was tasty. Regrettably, it was not tasty. No spice, no flavor, nothing. The scallion pancakes ordered where okay, but not tasty enough for us to give this restaurant another visit. The rice here is awful and I recommend choosing white rice or substituting with something else. The rice is bright yellow in color and doe not taste good. The shrimp in garlic sauce and crab ragoon were good, but I probably wont be venturing here anytime again in the near future. Not sure why this place got such bad reviews. For a $6 lunch, I don't think this place can be beat. Very affordable. And normal sized portions too, they don't skimp because of the discount. I have been going to Yummy Gardens, since they opened up on Lake Avenue in 2001; when Jacob, his brother and dad was running it. I was confident the Meigs Street location, would have that same skill of flavor and cooking............WRONG! My fried rice was not cooked all the way. Really no bean sprouts, WoW. Pretty decent fried, spicy, sweet, crispy, Asiany flavored chicken,beef,pork,rice and noodles and they won't break the bank. They actually have a few combo's if your not ordering alon and they give you free dessert if you order over $20 of food. I like their fried shrimp with french fries for $5 and their sweet and sour chicken/pork also about $5. Their wontons and rangoons aren't great, maybe a half a notch below average. Egg rolls are egg rolly. No complaints about this place, they are pretty quick too. I ordered some food, put on sandals, walked down to the store and they had my food bagged and ready to go! We have ordered takeout from here a bunch of times. It's definitely not super high quality Chinese food, but it's typical takeout with a few good points. They also deliver, which is great. For a while we (husband, brother and I) ordered from them almost weekly. Here's a summary for each of our frequently ordered items: Yummy Chicken: different than anything we had ever had; chicken can be tough, but flavors are pretty good. Sauce is unique and there's a spice to it that's good. Texture of the fried chicken is more like panko breading than other Chinese fried chicken. Veggie Lo Mein: pretty good flavor; not quite as greasy as other places (don't get me wrong, it's still greasy). Scallion Pancakes: good; I love getting these and am not super picky about them (to be fair, they're tough to screw up). Sauce is good. Crab Rangoons: ok, not the best, but satisfying enough Veggie Dumplings: ok; sauce is good. Crispy Sesame Beef: tough beef; more fried stuff than beef, swimming in sauce; not my fav but my brother likes it Sesame Chicken: husband likes it; typical sesame chicken, nothing too special Beef on a Stick: ok, not as good as Shui Asian Fusion Veggie Spring Roll: ok, typical Wonton Soup: not good... too bland; we recommend chef king in Bushnell's Basin for better broth and noodles in particular. read more

It's cheap and fast for both delivery and take-out, but Yummy Garden's quality has really declined over the years. The crab wontons are greasy, the egg drop soup is too salty, and the meat is always soft and undercooked. What's more is that they rarely pay attention to special directions such as "extra spicy" or "extra crispy." I typically take a few bites of my order, put the rest in the fridge, and promise myself never again. Yummy Garden's prompt service and late hours are a plus, but that's pretty much it. It can be a bit inconsistent (sometimes crispier than other times... sometimes more/less sauce), but it's never bad or foul. If you are looking for CHEAP chinese fast food, yummy garden is the place to order from. Their price are standard but they give you free food if you order over a certain dollar amount. My favorite is the free sesame chick (which you can exchange for general tso) if you order over 20$, BEST VALUE in town. Most of their food are standard, meaning they don't have anything that are bad, but they dont have any items that stands out as well. However the egg foo young here is really good and thats what I usually get. The people running this place are friendly and I always have a pleasent experience ordering from them. The older woman at the counter is so rude that she cut me off and wouldn't let me continue speaking. We ordered food and my husband wanted to stay and eat in. So where to start...we'll It was all very sad, the tso's was not the fried goodness coated in a sweet and spice glaze but meat and veggies in some broth like substance. The coconut shrimp was a heavily breaded mess, mixed with barely cooked broccolie and coconut milk (I'm guessing) just poured over it lazily. Yummy Garden is perfect for a cheap and delicious vegetarian meal. I ordered broccoli with garlic sauce, vegetable lo mein, and a vegetable egg roll. All three items were delicious and some of the best that I have tasted in the East end/south wedge. This is definitely my new go to spot for Chinese take out.
