Excellent crisp to chewy ratio and no overly oily PORK DUCK EGG CONGEE: good amount of pork strips and duck eggs, but had MSG :-( and WAY too much. Was expecting to be wowed, but this place is just okay. The food is decent, but the main turn-off is the experience inside the store. Despite how friendly they were greeting us when we came in, first impressions inside were not great. The lighting was harsh on my eyes and the table stuck to me as I sat down. There was a layer of grease on it but no one ever came to wipe it for us. When we got our food later, the bowls didn't seem to be thoroughly washed, there was something sandy/crunchy inside my turnip cake, and I found a little hair fragment in the savory soy milk. Not too sure how they have an A rating haha. We ordered a salty soy milk, savory "bean flower" (soy pudding), egg pancake, turnip cake, and daikon pastries. We ordered the turnip cake and an extra daikon pastry because the waitress told us the portions would be small, but it ended up being way too much food for 2 and we had to take half of it home. The food was standard and all pretty bland, and tasted better with a dipping sauce (as is normal with TW bfast). My favorite was the egg pancake. I usually like it with a thin flour wrap, but I think they used an actual Chinese pancake for it. I liked it for the simultaneously crispy and chewy texture, and it absorbed my dipping sauce well. All in all, this place did not leave an outstanding impression, so the next time I crave Taiwanese breakfast I probably will stick to Yi Mei. If I did come back, I would get it to go. read more

Beef pancake and pan fried baos were terrible. Beef pancake tasted like it was day old. Pan fried baos tasted like they were from the supermarket frozen section. They were probably the worst pan fried baos we've ever had. Fan tuan was not bad. Very large for only $3.25. Sweet soy milk was pretty sweet, maybe more sweet than soy milk tasting. Overall, we would only come back for the twisted cruller. I don't think anything else is good here. read more

But I ordered the intestine blood cake with chitterling noodles and there were literally 4 squares of pork blood. The rest was tofu. They really skimp on the good stuff for that dish. I seriously don't understand why the low score! In fact, a part of me wants to keep it a low score so that I can hide this Taiwanese breakfast gem for myself... There is a famous egg cake place in Tustin, CA that has good rating on Yelp..but it was a big disappointment for me..flavorless and expensive.. The egg cake here is crunchy, fresh, flavorful with fillings and under $6 !?!? Such a steal! The soy milk..mmmmm...warm, the perfect amount of sweetness..brings me back to the busy morning streets in Taiwan..AND a big bowl UNDER $3 ?!?! Too bad I live in OC..or else I know where I will get my breakfast every day from now on... The four stars are because - We grabbed some of the pastry that was around the counter and tbh those weren't that great.. This store is small, a typical mom and pop store, so the service was a bit slower even though there weren't many people around (we came on a Saturday morning at around 10 am). Was craving some Chinese breakfast one morning and came here. Ordered the fried dough sticks, salty soy milk, and breakfast beef pancakes. The salty soy milk was decent. Consistency I expected. Just needed some soy milk for the flavor. The fried dough was a bit worse. It wasn't crispy. It was fried wrong or just sat out a bit too long. But the reason for the 1 star review was the beef pancake. I at a few bites of it and realized the beef wasn't fresh. I got nauseous and wanted to throw up. My stomach is a bit sensitive to bad meat. This wasn't terribly unfresh beef but just on the border of turning bad. I raised this with the owner and she completely dismissed it. There was another couple here at the time and they ordered a dish with the same braised beef and they complained about the same issue. Owner was very dismissive and kept arguing back. I could have given a higher rating if she had been more sympathetic towards the complaint. Understand that restaurant s struggled through the pandemic and some had to keep their meets a bit longer due to lack of customers. But, fact that I felt ill and owner arguing with me necessitated this review. read more

A great place for authentic Taiwanese breakfast. This is the go-to place when my mom craves her oyster noodle soup. My favorite is the lamb soup with vermicelli. All the things we tried on the menu were pretty tasty with good portions. The green onion pancake with egg and turnip cake are also a couple of things we always order. To be honest, I've only ordered the savory (salty) tofu here after the change of ownership and that's all I need to order. I used to love Don Jon Station until it went downhill and the people who used to work there no longer cared. I kept going back for their savory tofu and I get a good tofu 1 out of 5 times. With the change of ownership to Yung Ho, I get the GOOD savory tofu every single time and it's even better! I love everything about this savory tofu. I've tried savory tofu at other places (such as Yi Mei, Four Sea) but nothing compares to the silky texture of the tofu here. And the flavor are really comforting to my taste. read more

Used to be a good place to in Arcadia for some Taiwanese breakfast but after our delivery today safe to say this place has become hot garbage. Must be new ownership because half of what was made didn't taste right and the other half was obviously bought from the frozen food section. I got pan fried baos, frozen scallion pancakes...I could of just bought it myself from Ranch 99 it would of been cheaper and probably tasted better. Pork chop rice was off, no respectable Taiwanese establishment would serve this dish with just mushy dry rice, overly salted pork chop and a bok choi. Never threw so much food away. I dont know why people leaving bad reviews for this place. They deserve more. Seriously ! Nice people, service is good, very sincere. It breaks my heart when I see no customers in the restaurant. Their food is good and great value. My husband loves their stinky tofu. They also offer pastry too. Everything looks fresh. Tou fu fa is great with a hint of sweetness. I ordered 7 dishes, only came out $40 after tax. You cant find that price now a day. It sort of mom and pop store style. The taste of the food is just right, not too impressive. The portion is smaller than before, but the price is much more. Ordered some wife cakes and walnut jujube cakes to go, I asked the server that I would like to pay for the togo cakes separately, but she told me that I can pay it at the end of my dining in.
