Rice salad with fish (rice salad w combo chicken/lamb in back)

Delicious food made fresh, super friendly service. We ordered the rice salad with fish plate, and the rice salad combo plate, which includes lamb and chicken. Both were exceptional, tickled our taste buds! Yum!

Definitely not representative of middle eastern food. When walking in it represents like a mexican food place also being name "Zapata"? Im very disappointed as I was so excited to try after seeing the website, and truly wanted to like this restaurant . The place is between a nail salon and Fijian grocery market. I ordered a lamb shawarma, dolma, hummus and fish gyro. The shawarma came in a tortilla?? But the menu shows it wrapped in pita.. If I wanted a burrito I would have ordered that. The lamb meat was very dry with crispy pieces, the yogurt sauce was watered down flavorless. The dolma tastes rancid straight from a can. The hummus literally is presented like if I bought it at safeway. My daughter's gyro had 4 small mostly batter pieces of fish, the majority of it was lettuce and diced cucumber. I paid $57 for all this , I feel cheated. We need real middle eastern food in sonoma county where are my Persians at? Also read another review and like to correct, Persians don't use cumin in rice... it's traditionally saffron , and real Mexican rice doesn't use cumin either.. Spanish/Iranian married to a Mexican here.. P.S just a suggestion to the owner, you should do real homemade middle eastern food and represent with pride or stick with the mexican restaurant. Id also like to mention the latina employee really did her best and was very sweet and understanding of the situation.

Not the same. No longer will go here. Had the best Lamb Shwarma ever, new location in Mexican restaurant destroyed it. Hispanic gentlemen guy who was real nice filled it full of French fries that it never really had before. The ZamZam people not even there. Sadly went from constant craving for this to won't go back. Not a good move

My shwarma had a burrito tortilla wrapper not pita bread. My mediterranean bowl had long grain white rice without any flavorings or turmeric with a traditional yellow color. As well, they use pico de gallo and not just chopped up tomatoes. I get this is a Mexican/Mediterranean place but I don't really think the two should be intermixed into some kind of fusion. Especially true if the customer isn't notified prior. With that said, the guy working there was very friendly so I will add a star to my rating for his demeanor.

I found out about ZamZam through the Press Democrat. I arrived around 12 noon yesterday and checked out their menu. There's definitely something for everyone here including Mexican food (burrito, nachos, tacos), Mediterranean (gyro, kebabs), Afghan (Mantu, Frybread), American (chicken wings, chicken tenders w/fries), etc. It's a little overwhelming but I went with 2 chicken Kebab plates and an order of their Baklava. I waited about 10 mins before she emerged from the back and told me that there are only 2 kebabs left and not enough to create 2 plates. I said, ok 2 chicken plates then. She quickly packed it for me and I told her there was a price difference of $6 each plate not including tax. She handed me a $10 bill. I just took it and left, I guess she can keep the $2 tip. Didn't want to argue with her. The chicken plate was OK. Flavorless rice. Chicken didn't have too much flavor either. It was pretty bland but plenty of food. Baklava was fresh and delicious. I think ZamZam has a good start and they seem to be doing so well due to their story and the press. I applaud them! If they tighten up their menu and focus more on the food versus serving too many tastes, they can have better success. Looking forward to hearing more good news from them and eventually open up their own spot.

Oh heeeeey new spot!!! First thing, you must know it's in a liquor store, but don't let this turn you away! The family that runs the restaurant is the sweetest! We just bought a home about a mile away and glad to say we found a go to spot. We both got the combo gyro, regular fries and garlic fries. The gyro was awesome! I mean so, so good. The pita is so so soft, but the real star... the meat and in particular the lamb! Wow it could not be seasoned any better! And is so so capital "T" Tender! We got it to go so the fries were a bit soggy, maybe a different container would help. The owner sent us with a few sauces, they were out of the green sauce, but she suggested mixing the red (super spicy) and white, she was not wrong! Delicious! Good food, fun name, will come back!

I was very excited to read about Zamzam in the paper, so we headed there the same day. Their flavors are original and delicious. That spicy but not hot, real goodness. The chicken gyro came with juicy shredded chicken, which was yummy but not the cubed style they had in the photo. The lamb gyro was my favorite! We will be supporting them so they can hopefully strive and expand into a new place.

Mexican rice??? Beware, the food is completely different.

This is SO sad, what happened to this place?!! This place used to have great middle eastern food. Now, it sells dishes with the same names but the flavors are just wrong all of a sudden. The rice is now Mexican rice, and the spices have no sense of place. The chicken bowl is now basically a burrito bowl minus beans plus some pita thrown on top . The food isn't bad by any means, it is perfectly good but selling a different dish with the same name is really disappointing. At this point, they should re-brand and be honest about what they're serving.

After having poor food at another local Gyro shop (see my prior review on my profile), we decided to try something different. My sister let me know about Zam Zam as I'd never heard of them -- but the food looked authentic and made with love. And since it was lunch time, it was a great opportunity to do a direct comparison to some of Santa Rosa's similar offerings. We went inside to order. Note this spot is inside a convenience store. That doesn't bother me but it's really a take-out place, so don't expect to sit down. We ordered two lamb + chicken combo Gyros, as well as a lamb fry bread. My sister got a falafel Gyro. WOW! Such flavor. The seasonings were complex and really gave all the dishes immense character. The pita bread was great. The veggies were fresh and plentiful. The meat was delicious. My sister's falafel looked excellent. Golden brown on the inside and clearly made with fresh chickpeas instead of being packed into a mold and frozen. The fry bread was excellent. The consistency and texture of the bread was fantastic. The cheese, veggies, and of course, lamb, were all great. All in all, 4 dishes cost us $60 after tax and 20% tip. That's $15 per dish out the door. We were stuffed!! Nothing but great things to say about this place. Always opt for the mom-and-pop shop that makes authentic food and puts love into their recipes. I hope they stick around a long time. Do not miss this one!

The rice is hard and crunchy not appetizing at all. Salad had no dressing but at least not rotten.

Very disappointed especially after my food was cancelled yesterday and being extremely hungry and desperate. Today again I find myself being lazy and hangry and really excited to try this place. Maybe my mistake was ordering online delivery, this first try is on me. Ordered the fish plate and fries. "Fish" plate came with 5 fish sticks over a bed or dry crunchy/burnt/stale rice you could have chipped a tooth on. The online photo looks nothing close to what I received. If there was salad dressing it did not come with this order but at least the salad seemed fresh. The fries seasoning left much to be desired and required a 5 min briol in the air fryer. Ended up added my own seasonings...

I was terribly disappointed in this place because the reviews were so good. My husband and I had gyros and my brother in law had the fish and chips. He said the fish and chips was "okay." The gyros, however, were overcooked and dry. They were also cold. The french fries were the corrugated ones, and my husband said that the garlic ones were "okay" and I found the plain ones also to be just a bit better than okay. At least the fries were hot. We used to get the Indian tacos from the previous restauranteur here and were sad that he went out of business. But I love mediterranean food and was hoping for great things. The young man who waited on my husband was very nice and polite and friendly. He smiled which makes up for a lot. We might be back, because it's close by, but we'll try something other than the gyros. read more

I was scrolling through the restaurants on yelp and this restaurant caught my eye. I haven't had this kind of food since I was in NYC, remembering how amazing it was, I had to stop by and order some food. I bought the Combo Gyro and the Combo over rice. Both delicious. My boyfriend had the Gyro and wanted more! I have to buy him two next time.I had The combo over rice and it also was so good. Definitely recommend. The rice is unique and the flavors are so good. Not impressed. Meat was dry. Seasoned though. got a lamb and beef shawarma. It had a flour tortilla/burrito wrap instead of bread. Pickles were missing. Cucumber slices were huge. About two Mc Donald's fries for size. Their menu doesn't say it has fries in the shawarma. Pleasant surprise. Too bad they were cold. Daughter's lamb plate came with one small piece of pita. She wanted more sauce to make up for the dry meat. Maybe we caught them on an off day... read more

We ordered from DoorDash and got the chicken and lamb gyro! They substituted our garlic fries for chicken wings because they were out of fries. The wings were fantastic! Still crispy and tender. The gyros had amazing flavor and the sauces were great! read more

The dolmas here are extraordinary! The platters and gyros I've eaten from here have been flavorful and delicious. Crispy falafels and creamy hummus! The only thing I'm not really a fan of here is the baklava, but a good one is hard to find! read more

All i can say is WOW! Don't let the location inside the liquor store fool you! I just randomly searched if Santa Rosa had any afghan food and found this spot. I ordered the chicken gyro and let me tell you, its the best Middle Eastern gyro you will find in Santa Rosa, actually in Sonoma County period. Coming from an Afghan i can say it is super authentic from the flavor of the chicken to the sauces. Can't wait to come back, and tell all my Santa Rosa people all about it! So happy Santa Rosa finally has an Afghan spot! Thank you to the woman who helped me! See you soon:) read more

I got the falafel gyro. It was very good. The veggies and sauce with the falafel were perfect. Next time I'm getting the Shawarma. The only difference is the bread. One is pita and the other a wrap. I'm in town for 4 days. I will be back. read more

Most of the food is alright and I wish they had more drink choices on DoorDash and Uber eats. And the falafel is pretty damn good. Everything so far is a 3 or 4 out of 5, but......... if you read the other reviews you will see a pattern. The lamb gyro or lamb plate (doesn't matter just get the f***ing lamb) is genuinely the best I've ever had. I eat from here often and have never once been disappointed except when I wish I ordered a second gyro. The veggies are as fresh as can be, the sauces all taste exactly like their assigned colors should. Which is fortunate because that how they are referred to, white sauce, red sauce, and green sauce. Honestly even if you are a strict vegan and animal rights activist, I say order the lamb. Because I'm positive even the lamb is content it got to become something as delicious as this. It is probably looking down from lamb heaven grateful it got to go to zamzam's. If this place sent someone to come to my house, clogged my toilet, kicked my dog, and keyed my car every time I ordered delivery. I would still Say thank you and continue to order every opportunity that I got. Fortunately they don't do any of those things but I'm sure they would if you were into that and you asked nicely! Ordered a chicken gyro and garlic fries through DoorDash. It wasn't *great* but it wasn't bad either. The chicken gyro was just unseasoned chicken, lettuce, and a piece of tomato on a phenomenally soft pita. And the fries came surprisingly crispy but needed to be seasoned as well. Overall--meh. read more

Im open to trying new things never had Mediterranean food my favorite was the chicken over rice it was nice to have all the vegetables. I love the sauce super good. Rice is my favorite its not like regular rice and the cucumber goes perfectly with it. read more

I think it was a great amount of food for the price, yet I wouldn't order it again. Maybe it's just me but I found hard bits of meat in my salad. Maybe they gave me the last of the meat. I REALLY wanted to love this place! Great people and concept, but I literally could not eat the chicken on the chicken kabob salad because it was SO chewy, as if it had been reheated multiple times/days. I've heard that the lamb is good, but I would not return to a place that serves such old/reheated meats...I hope that they can make this work, but it obviously needs some time read more

I am such a creature of habit, and on a tight budget, but I took the risk and tried this place out because they are so close to where I work. Oh my word. I wouldn't care if they were across town -- they are worth seeking out! I tried the combo gyro and was blown away by how huge it was for the price. Every bite was heaven. I thought I'd save the rest for another meal, but it was too good to put down and I basically inhaled the entire thing in one go. I highly recommend Zamzam, and look forward to trying everything there! read more

I was a bit skeptical and pleasantly surprised. Ordered lamb gyro and garlic fries. The pita was fresh and home made. Large portion lamb with a light ranch tasting sauce, some onion + tomato. The crinkle cut fries were extra crispy with freshly finely shredded garlic and herbs. Both items were simple but well seasoned. Ive had gyros with tons of toppings and sometimes people put too many things. The simplicity of it gave it a home comfort foodie vibe. I would have liked a side of pickles or pickled veggies and hot sauce. Not sure if that's at counter, didn't walk in. We also had the baklava. Tasted fresh, flaky and moist. They used walnuts and I think it might have had some rosemary which was new for me. Anyway, I think best lamb gyro in Sonoma County. I will definitely be back to try the falafel. read more

The food from this place is awesome. 1st impression when we pulled up it is a liquor store. We thought this place cannot have Halal food. We still went inside and spoke to the owner. He confirmed that his meat is halal. I have eaten Halal Cart in SF a lot. This is WAY BETTER. Love your food Bro. Inshallah you will do very well. I totally recommend this place. What can I say I drove from the bay to try this restaurant and the I ordered a chicken shawarma. Minutes lates i see the guy cooking my food picking his nose while making my food. wowwww that is crazy. Sanitation and people's health should be a priority when going into a restaurant. I spoke to the manager Roman and he said it is what it is people have to clean there nose. Very disrespectful I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Delicious little hole-in-the-wall joint. Loved the combo over rice and and falafel gyro. Good portions. Great bread, great seasoning, fresh veggies. Patient and kind on the phone when customizing order. Will definitely be returning to try other items! read more

Over time it has gone up to $9, so basically $10 with tax. Fries are like $4.50 a la carte. So if you ordered 2 sliders and a fries a la carte it would be $22.50. But the meal with two sliders and fries, I believe it's $15. That's a nice discount for bundling the items, but sometimes I only want a slider. Slider alone should be like $7, not $9.

I saw that they had Henhouse beer on tap, so I had to stay and drink it there to enjoy a Henhouse properly. We ordered cheese pizza for my kids, and created our own pizza combo dish, along with hot wings. While waiting, I enjoyed my beer along with family chat, and reviewed the meaning behind the "twist" part of their name. Pizza Twist is a California original back in 2014 and now has 60 locations in the US and Canada, and just recently opened a new one in Jersey City. Its twist is not only that it's a Chicago style pizza but with Indian cuisine influence. Woww!!! They have Tikka Masala Pizza Twist, Spicy Lamb Kabob Pizza, and Curry Pizza Twist, which I'd love to try on my next visit. When we received the pizza, it was very delicious, good flavor combo that we created, more of vegetarian but added pepperoni to it. The price and value for what we had was decent, can' say much for BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse. Overall, Sagar was very hospitable, the ambiance was delightful, and the value and quality was excellent. I rate this an "A" for a family pizza restaurant.

She became emotional just watching how rudely the staff were treated, and on her own, she felt moved to write a note to the hostess afterward who was in tears. That alone speaks volumes. I hope others who read the original review can recognize the entitlement behind it and take it with a grain of salt. The staff here deserve far more respect than what they were given in that moment. Famous for their award winning beers, the Russian River Brewing Company was formed by the…read moreCalifornia Korbel Winery in 1997. The original brew master became the co-owner when the winery left the beer business in 2003. It was then moved this location in 2004, opening as a brewpub. It's been on my list of places to visit for a while, so my wife, her mom, and I took the opportunity to stop in for a Thursday night dinner on our way to San Francisco from Fort Bragg. The inaugural double IPA (aka Imperial IPA) was made by the current co-owner at a different brewery in 1994. Double means it uses double the hops and malts, and the ABV is quite a bit higher. He then created Pliny the Elder (ABV 8.0%) in 2000, recognized as the most famous DIPA. The track continued, with Pliny the Younger in 2005, a triple IPA (using triple the hops and malts with ABV of 10.25%). This version is available once a year in the spring, since it costs so much money and time to make. With so much malt being used, a large amount of time (and hops) is needed to balance. I've had Pliny the Elder in bottles before, and really liked it: I don't like the hoppy 'piney' taste in my beers, but also recognize that not enough will make the beer too sweet (which I've been facing with a lot my island beers lately). Parking is street only, but there was a lot of it, with the metered parking only requiring payment till 6 pm. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and immediately seated at a table near the bar. As expected, it was quite loud, with after work folks having a good time. We got menus, ordered our food, and then decided what to do about flights. The brewery is also known for their Belgian style and thus offers two different flights. It was my first time, and didn't know how much my wife could help, so decided to order the California Sampler (a selection of 12 different West Coast 5 oz. pours of ales and lagers for $15.45) to start: O.V.L. Stout (Old Vic Loyals) - Irish nitro stout - really beginning to love stouts, and this one was good. Velvet Glow - lager - solid. Ending up buying 6 pack to bring home ($12.99) STS Pils - pilsner. Bought a 6-pack for $12.99. Russian River Porter - Blind Pig IPA - West Coast IPA Happy Hops - Juicy IPA Mosaic Stack - West Coast IPA SimCoe 25 - West Coast IPA Citra Flash Mob - West Coast IPA Mind Circus - Hazy IPA DDH Pliny the Elder - really good. bought two cans at $5.99 each. Pliny the Elder - the original Felt pretty good, so decided to order the Belgian Sampler (9 different for $13.63), Surprisingly, I didn't like it nearly as much (my favorite fruit beer during this trip was the Howzit Punch beer). Petite Robert - table beer Little White Lie - Belgian White Robert - saison Perdition - biere de sonoma Damnation - golden strong ale Mortification - quad Supplication - sour brown ale Intinction - barrel aged pilsner Consecration - sour dark ale In terms of the food, it was solid. The 8 pc chicken wings ($17) were good, and the cheesy garlic bread ($10) was filling. I had the meatball sandwich ($16) and upgraded the fries to a spinach salad (+$4): it was tasty, loved the toasted French bread and marinara sauce, with the meatballs being OK (tasted from frozen)...loved the spinach salad with strawberries and blue cheese. We finished off our meal with a Vinnies (co-owner) sundae: good vanilla ice cream with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a lot of almond slivers. Payment was at the table, and me being again very pleasantly surprised at how little the flights were (a typical brewpub where they charge $3-$4 per 5 oz, would have cost 4 times as much...though of course I wouldn't have drunk as much either).
