Zao is awesome. We love Zao and have been going here for years. We started in SLC and we're so excited when they came to station park. Zao has become a once or twice a month staple. Good food, healthier, and fast. My go to is the steak tacos. So good with just a little heat. I get everything on them and have them toss in crispy onions at the cash register for a little crunch. Definitely a 5/5, so good. My wife gets the chicken bowl with chili lemongrass with all the vegetables. My daughter got the kids meatball taco with a side of noodles and a drink. read more

My favorite restaurant ever! My husband and I always go to Zao. It is sooo good! I love their soup, their wrap and bowl. Love love love!

We love Zao and have eaten there often. We especially like the gluten free options as my wife does not tolerate gluten. On our most recent stop - yesterday, we both had one of their bowls. I had the chicken and yakisobe noodles with corn and broccoli. My wife had the rice noodles and, meatballs (thinking they were still gluten free as they used to be). Almost everything was a delicious as it usually is. The customer serice was acceptable. Two complaints about what would otherwise have been another great visit to Zao. Someone during the day had burned the broccoli and you could still smell it in the restaurant and you could definitely taste it in the remaining broccoli. It was not an enjoyable addition to our bowls. And WHY did Zao stop making their meatballs gluten free?? My wife used to love them. Today she is paying for not asking the question up front. I am sure we will go to Zao again in the future, but with a little hesitancy next time. read more

I was pleasantly impressed with the restaurant. It has a Cafe Rio style approach to ordering your food with a choice of entrees and proteins. I got a noodle bowl and it was fresh and delicious. Everything in the bowl had a good flavor. Pricing was decent. The service speed matched other restaurants. The workers were cordial. The dining area was clean. Overall it was a good experience. Thought I'd give it a try for the first time... What could go wrong for $8.95 when you get a bowl with noodles, veggies, meat and sauce... Right? But when I went to check out it was over $12 because they charge more for one kind of noodle and they charge more for your chicken and who knows what else. I decided to pass and left and went next-door to blue lemon do you get a fresh cooked meal for less. I'm just not a fan of pre-cooked food sitting under a heat lamp getting dry. This place is a glorified Panda Express that charges more for less. My wife did stay and get a bowl but her food was bland and dry and just not very good. read more

It seems that Zao has applied some effort to making the post-Covid experience welcome, efficient and improved in friendliness. Our online-completed order was ready and waiting on time in clearly marked bags with our name on them held on a shelf just outside the kitchen. The rice bowls didn't hold as well as the noodle (yakisoba) bowls (for however much in advance they prepped our orders) but the temperature was still warm enough, and sauces were packaged separately. So at least most of the texture, outside of the the crunchy shallots/onions were maintained pretty well considering that it wasn't assembled right in front of us. It was also our first time trying the spicier Tiger Sauce (teriyaki, mayo and chili sauce) and Super Sauce (green curry mixed with the lemongrass sauce). They were both a nice change over just the curry alone. Granted, we miss the bahn-mi sandwiches not being on the menu, and wish the meatballs were still the original pork-chicken recipe. Yet post-Covid times don't always make the experience ideal. We appreciate the efforts they've taken to make the process as smooth and safe as possible. And we appreciate the hearty, "thanks for coming in!" that we got from the kitchen staff when we left with our order. This good place is very predictable in their quality and the taste of their dishes. Today was an unusual situation because I arrived, ordered my meal and proceeded to the cash register when they said they did not accept cards today because a power outage earlier had shut them down. They only accepted cash. There was no sign on the door or indications of that otherwise. When I explained that I did not have cash, they simply said, "no problem, you can pay us next time." I was very surprised but thanked them and proceeded to eat my meal with my lunch partner. A couple of hours later I returned to the restaurant with cash. They looked very surprised and rang up my order again as I paid them for our earlier meals. Who does that? I've never once had that happen before. That act alone has generated my loyalty to this restaurant and whomever owns it. Nice job! Thank you so much for your trust! read more

One of my more recent favs, has become Zao Asian Cafe! I was really excited to learn they opened a new location in Farmington, at Station Park. In the ever growing category of Fast Casual dining, Zao hits the mark in great customer service, healthy eating, quick service and many choices that meet the needs of all preferences (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free or chicken and steak to satisfy your likings). They have everyone covered. They have a variety to chose from, be it tacos, salads, rice/noodle bowls, Banh Mi sandwiches and amazing soup. The great thing about Zao, is the choices and combinations of what you can create are endless. On this most recent visit, I went with a small bowl of soup (broth) and added cilantro and seared vegetables. It was a wonderful addition to my main course bowl. I had my bowl made with half yakisoba and half rice as my base and added wok seared vegetables, carrots daikon, cilantro, fresh chili sauce and finished it off with chili lemongrass, as my sauce choice. It was fantastic. Everything was so fresh and the portions were perfect. The nice thing about Zao is you will leave satisfied, with and stomach full and have eaten an extremely healthy meal. My wife had an amazing salad and our son enjoyed the tacos. (Check our the pics I have shared.) I will be frequenting Zao often and with 15 Utah locations throughout Utah, you should be able to do so as well. I was excited to check to Zao with my granddaughter.I love noodles, and while perusing the options while waiting in line,I was impressed to see the options offered. I chose rice, rice noodles, and chunks of meat. I was very, very disappointed when the meal had absolutely no flavor at all!! I was only able to force down 3 bites, it was horrible! My husband, and his brother happened to try Zac's for lunch, that same day, before I was able to warn them to stay away. They each tried a different combination bowl. They were unable to eat more than a couple of bites, no flavor, they were very disappointed! One positive thing I would like to post is that the service, and the interaction with the staff was great. They helped me choose my meal ,by answering my questions on the items of food they were serving.
