The food has lots of flavor, we ordered Carne Asada Crispy Tacos & Combo Fajitas. Tacos would have been perfect except they put Parmesan cheese over them which didn't taste good. Leave the Parmesan cheese for pasta. Service seemed a little lite and the ambiance well the walls were neat.

Very friendly and professional Rene offered us chips and Salsa while we waited for a friend. Music was not too loud, we felt very welcomed. Food was very affordable, beautifully presented , just the right amount. I have dietary restrictions and had simple whole bean tacos with cilantro, avocado and lime - delicious! Looking forward to trying the falafel!

From the moment I walked inside the smells coming from their kitchen excited me. The gentleman at the counter was patient as I vacillated on what dish to order. I finally settled on Huevos a la Mexicano and a bottle of coke. The chips, beans red and green sauce (with a kick yes!!) to start were a good sign. When my dish was served the smell alone was fantastic. After the first bite I could hardly focus on the conversation with a friend. I was surprised at what depth their flavors had. Their secret red sauce is like nothing I have ever tasted! I was just visiting but as a well traveled eater I desperately can't wait to go back. This is the best Mexican food in a restaurant I have ever had. This is a must try. I would be a regular if I was local.

If you're looking for delicious halal Mexican food, Zapata is the place to go! Owner Khamza has done an amazing job combining authentic Mexican flavors with halal ingredients -- something that's hard to find and even harder to perfect, but Zapata truly nails it. The food is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. From juicy halal carne asada tacos to the perfectly seasoned birria, everything is made to order and bursting with taste. The portions are generous and the prices are more than fair for the quality you're getting.

Vegetarian review - the food was very average in my opinion as nothing stood out as great. Nothing to complain but just not flavorful enough. Service and ambiance was great but not going back for food

Huge burritos that could be two meals for a lot of people. Great price point and quick service. Perfect takeout spot. Yummy salsa, too.

Friendly service, food was good. Nachos kinda stale or from a bag. Taco salad and salsa was good.

Decided to give this spot a try while we were in the area and looking for light Mexican food…read more Dining was dimly lit, but fairly clean. The house speciality seems to be bowls - but they have tacos and burritos as well. Menu does not do a great job of describing what the bowls are like, but we decided to give those a shot. While we waited we enjoyed the salsa bar. They had a wide assortment of salsas and jalapeños, limes and other goodies. Salsas were fairly good. Bowl itself was like a burrito without a tortilla - just some crispy corn chip strips give it some flavor and texture. Cilantro rice and beans were tasty - but the carne asada was excellent! I like the addition of kernel corn for flavor and texture, although the "avocado" was a drizzle of green goo that wasn't exactly guacamole either. Overall not too bad, but not sure I would return here either.

The counter service was good. We had the street tacos and tried the el pastor, lengua, and birria. The el pastor was greasy, yet dry. The lengua and birria was some of the driest I've had in a long time. Given that the meats were uninteresting, the small sprinkling of onion and tired cilantro didn't save it. The only thing that made them edible were the sauces from the salsa bar. All of them quite good, so that's the silver lining. Oh yes, they serve the tacos with a small side of fried onions that were also very good. My search for Santa Rosa's best taco is still on.

Been here several times now, and the food has been absolutely bomb each time. Don't be intimidated…read moreby the prices - the portions are gigantic! It's a small and casual operation - there's a large seating area behind the restaurant with self serve water. Limited parking out front, and the back lot (with the seating) also has some space for parking, but it's not hard to find parking in the surrounding area. The food here is awesome - deep flavors and genuinely a ton of craft in their work (tamales and tortillas made fresh, you can see them making it through the window by the register). The food is pretty classic, but just executed so well - I really don't think you can go wrong. My personal favorites are the mole enchiladas / tamales (gently sweet, smoky mole, not overly chocolatey and really balanced, especially with a side of pickles) and the fish tacos (GIGANTIC).

I felt it had all the components to be successful. I liked the texture of the batter. It also wasn't plain so that was nice. Good ingredients and flavors for sure. What came up short was the ratio of batter to fish. Way too much batter for the amount of fish. Also it was totally the wrong fish for the batter. Way too soft. I don't know how you eat these in the restaurant but they are a mess. If I'm paying almost twenty bucks for fish tacos. I think I might expect slightly more elegance. Menu did look very interesting. I could see coming back but the fish tacos are a pass
