I'm continuing my efforts to find the best Mexican restaurants in Santa Rosa. I had to get my "go to" a carne asada super burrito. The meat was flavorful and I really enjoyed it. I also ordered a lengua taco. Lengua usually has a unique texture and appearance. Between the marinade and preparation, I couldn't tell it was lengua. The complimentary chips were a little on the hard side. The service was good and friendly. Zapata is located in an area with ample parking. Looking forward to try more restaurants. read more

Everything was flavorful and yummy and the churros were the perfect amount of sweet. They were super generous with the meat in the tacos. They also had complimentary red and green salsas and beans with chips, the salsas were delicious. I wish I could have a bottle of the green one. Service was great, and we didn't have to wait too long to get our food. The enchiladas were also really yummy, I'll probably get the green ones the next time I come. Wow. Amazing food! Got a chimichanga and it was quite possibly the best one I've ever had. It wasn't drenched in grease. You could actually taste the fried tortilla, beans, rice and tender pork without being overwhelmed by a greasy taste. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The restaurant as a whole was clean and very welcoming. I'm definitely going back and trying more of their menu items! read more

First, this man LOVES cooking and you can taste it in his food! His food is fresh, thought out, a symphony for your taste buds and his chips are the best thick corn tortilla chips I've ever had! They don't bother my sensitive to fried chips tummy at all! Perhaps he bakes them? I should ask but add these things to outstandingly delicious salsa, which he loves making and sharing, guacamole to snack your mama for, and Mexican Coke? The food has lots of flavor, we ordered Carne Asada Crispy Tacos & Combo Fajitas. Tacos would have been perfect except they put Parmesan cheese over them which didn't taste good. Leave the Parmesan cheese for pasta. Service seemed a little lite and the ambiance well the walls were neat. read more

Very friendly and professional Rene offered us chips and Salsa while we waited for a friend. Music was not too loud, we felt very welcomed. Food was very affordable, beautifully presented , just the right amount. I have dietary restrictions and had simple whole bean tacos with cilantro, avocado and lime - delicious! From the moment I walked inside the smells coming from their kitchen excited me. The gentleman at the counter was patient as I vacillated on what dish to order. I finally settled on Huevos a la Mexicano and a bottle of coke. The chips, beans red and green sauce (with a kick yes!!) to start were a good sign. When my dish was served the smell alone was fantastic. After the first bite I could hardly focus on the conversation with a friend. I was surprised at what depth their flavors had. Their secret red sauce is like nothing I have ever tasted! I was just visiting but as a well traveled eater I desperately can't wait to go back. This is the best Mexican food in a restaurant I have ever had. This is a must try. I would be a regular if I was local. read more

My husband said he wanted a burrito so I went online to look for a place open on a Sunday night and I found Zapata taqueria. I read the reviews and they were all positive. So I placed my order. I believe we found our New Mexican restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were awesome I believe the owner took my order over the phone. If you're in the mood for Mexican food and in the Santa Rosa area please give this place a visit. You won't be disappointed. I will definitely be back. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. read more

ZERO flavor alert! After all of the hype about their other locations, I was excited to try the College Avenue location that had recently opened near my home. We were disappointed with all of our selections. This was the most bland, uninspired Mexican food we'd ever tasted. Will not repeat. read more

We were looking for some halal food and found this place. Food was very tasty and the service was very hospitable and polite. I really like the carne asada and grilled chicken tacos. The barbacoa and shredded chicken tacos were also delicious. If you are there with kids and they can't handle spicy food, make sure to get the taco fixings on the side. read more

Okay my kids loved the shredded chicken tacos, my husband and I got super burritos which had A Lot of meat but half of the meat was on top and the other stuff on the bottom which kinda sucked. I got the barbacoa and my husband chicken. We also ordered the birria taco dinner and it was okay again lots of meat but the ratios were off. I'll def try this place again because like anything new adjustments are made and trying different things I may enjoy more. read more

We love the food and make it a point to stop here when we pass through Kenwood. We have tried to eat dinner here 2 nights in a row. Last night they closed and hour early and we were unable. Today I called before we drove out and asked how late they would be open and she said "7pm". We made a trip out to Kenwood just to eat here. We arrived at 6:20pm and they were closed AGAIN! Pretty bummed and won't likely come back. Bad business. read more
