    Lamb Gosht Thali

I've been here many times. Even though it is a takeout-only place, they have a lot of outdoor seating where you can enjoy your meal. Generally I prefer to order a thali where the main can be a curry or something dry like a chicken boti. I've also had the beef chapli burger, a fusion item unique to Zareen's. Tip: Don't get a sizzler here; it will be much better at the Cal Ave location, where they serve it on an actual metal hot plate.

We got take out from Zareen's after a ridiculously long flight and it reminded us why this spot continues to be our go to whenever we visit. Sheermal is always our favorite - melt in the mouth and freshly baked, and we paired it with a juicy assortment of kebabs accompanied by some delightful hari (green) chutney. The spice, the value for money, and the comfort of this meal hit all the right spots! As always. Packaging could be a little better, but hey, do yourself a favor and go get a bite of that divine Sheermal!

Post-COVID, the original Zareen's near Google headquarters now only does takeout, but that does not change its status as one of the most beloved culinary establishments in the Bay Area. Sure, compared to the food you might get on the streets of Pakistan or India, its flavors are slightly muted, but I find its milder taste distinctly unique. I always get a combo thali for the variety, and their chicken is consistently juicy. They also serve some of the best chai I have ever had!

There was a line but it went by fast. We sat outside and it had plenty of tables. The food came out pretty fast. The portions are big too so 2 people can share 1 dish. Everything was good and we were full.

Burrito 5/5 - this was so good! I thought a burrito would be too much with the tortilla but I am glad I got it! The tortilla is thin so it doesn't feel too heavy. The flavor is really good. And it is huge!! Good enough for two portions. I like the curry sauce that comes with the burrito, adds lots of flavor Also got their fries and they were a bit seasoned. The sauce is good too.

~ Smells like Heaven!! ~ As soon as you open the door, you are hit with SO many aromas!! I ate this 2 days in a row on my trip and did take out!! It tasted even better the next day! The service is so welcoming and sweet! Definitely get the Chicken tiki masala with garlic nan, the lamb curry, and chicken samosas !! And to wash it down TRY THE MANGO LASI. HONESTLY ANYTHING YOU GET HERE WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. I LOVE THEIR FOOD !!

Man, the food at Zareen's is just flat out good. Different flavors and spices working together just gives so much flavor that's unique to anything western, really. This location is small. Seating is strewn about outside with no space for seating inside. There is a machine to place your order, along with menu items, inside. While the food is just really good overall, the fact that this is pretty much a take out location is disappointing with all of the plastic used and waste created. You gotta visit a Zareen's, and if you can, visit one of their restaurant locations.

Got takeout of lamb gosht ala carte and it was delicious, just not as creamy as I would prefer. I've also had the palak methi and it was so so plate-licking good, even after I froze it once. Super creamy and tender, just a hint of spice. The flavors at this establishment don't miss. Don't have anything to say regarding the service or ambiance since I've only done takeout.

I've had coworkers rave about this place and after seeing it ranking highly on Yelp this year, I knew I had to try it out since I was in the Mountain View Area! My friend got the Tikka Masala combo and I wanted to try something different today and got the Lamb Bhuna Gosht entree with naan. It was amazing! Super well seasoned and spicy. I think their food holds true to its authenticity even after the store rose in popularity. Naan- got it to dip in with my entree. Not the hottest or crispiest but did the job. Mango lassi is just ok imo. It's definitely creamy and has the sweetness of the mango but tastes a little watered down I think. Not the greatest I've had for 5.50. Their Chai is super good though! I'd get this over the lassi any day! It's definitely on the sweeter side but I think the sweetness complements the meal well which is more seasoned and spicy. Comparing the entree to combo, I personally think it's better to order the entree then the combo because it looks like you get twice as much when comparing containers. Note this location is fully to go, but there is some seating outside for small and bigger groups. I'd love to come back and try a different entree or try their dine in locations when I'm further up in the peninsula!

With its close proximity to 101, 85, a certain tech giant, and really damn good food, there's no wonder why Zareen's is such a South Bay/Peninsula staple. You can order through a number of delivery platforms, so getting your hands on this delicious food isn't too difficult either. While it is a mostly to-go restaurant (at least this location), they do have some outdoor dining available, which is great on a nice day, and the perfect stop before a Shoreline concert. The outdoor seating gets pretty packed, so either get their early, or prepare to pounce the moment someone gets up from their table. They have combos that are served with rice and salad, or you can order a la carte entrees. I've gotten a combo via delivery service for myself, but when dining with others the a la carte entrees are the way to go. On my most recent visit we ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, and sides of rice and naan. This was plenty of food for two of us, and left us with a small amount of leftovers. Food was hearty and flavorful and had a little bit of heat, but nothing too intense. Would order all items again and look forward to going with more people sometime so that we can order and try even more from the menu!

TLDR: Excellent Fried Chicken!…read more I was just chatting with my friend about picking up Chik-Fil-A for dinner one night, and he suggested Chicken G. There's one in Fremont, but also on in Mountain View, which isn't too far from me. So on a different night, I decided to give this place a try. Short answer: it's REALLY good! Long answer: It's a very very small place. It's got that 80's vibe to it... it's like Falafel Drive-In but with chicken! The staff was nice... although it seemed like there was only 1 front-of-the-house ( I couldn't see in the back). And he was doing EVERYTHING... preparing the food, packaging it up, taking orders.... And it wasn't like the place was super busy at 7:30p on a Thursday. In fact, no one was in front of me, but I still had to wait 5 minutes or so for him to take my order. But finally the order was fired up, and he immediately told me it will take about 15 minutes, because everything is made fresh. Nice! I kinda lost track doom-scrolling, so I peeked my head up every once in a while. I guess he thought I was being impatient, but he assured me, 5 more minutes... Eventually, he called me over, and I took the thing home. Keep in mind, with traffic... it took about 30 min to get home. So the food was getting a little cool. But it was still VERY crunchy, and tasty. My wife immediately took a bite and said it was SO GOOD. She had the 2 tenders and a side (french fries), while I had the chicken burger. The burger was HUUUUGE. I yielded and got a knife to cut the thing in half so I could eat it properly. Even though it was 30 min... the chicken was still super crispy and had a nice satisfying crunch. It blew CFA out of the water, tbh. Tho I still love CFA! Anyway, this place is really really good. It does 1 thing and does it super well. I'd like to try it again, but eat it there fresh and see if that makes a difference. As it stands, I'm struggling to think of a place better than this.

[[ Parking ]] I personally think parking is pretty difficult in general in the downtown Palo Alto Area. It's near an indoor parking area (first 2 floors are non-permit parking), outside parking lot, and lots of street parking. However, when we went almost everything was full. I luckily one open street parking spot and luckily my car is super compact and I was able to squeeze in. I probably would be more stressed if I were driving a large SUV or large sedan. [[ Restaurant / Service ]] I thought the restaurant was pretty beautiful inside and in a good location (corner side). They have plenty of seats that look outside and also a ton of indoor seating in case you want more privacy. - One con was that we were seating in a I guess a "bad booth"? It was in the corner and the padding seemed to have sunken in so I had pretty bad support the whole meal. I got use to at the end but next time I'll just choose a chair. Service was really good. Our server checked in frequently, filled our waters, and was relatively attentive. No complaints here. [[ Food ]] I thought the presentation was beautiful for each dish and there was some standout things: 1.) The complimentary bread had delicious butter and mint/cilantro sauce(?) Not 100% sure but it tasted really good. Unlimited bread too as we gobbled up the first round pretty quickly. 2.) If you get a steak (which I hope you do), I love the little flamethrower presentation when they melt the butter on top of your steak. I thought that was a nice "wow" touch for the dining experience. 3.) I really enjoyed the crab cakes and thought the balance of taste and cook was on the spot and gave a really strong start to the rest of the meal. The okay things: 1.) Surprisingly the steaks were just okay in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, they taste good but I wasn't blown away by either the filet mignon or the dry-aged rib eye. It's solid steaks but nothing too memorable. 2.) The sides in my opinion were a let down. The Mac & Cheese was SOO watery. I took a picture of how much liquid was after getting through the top layer. I wish it was more melted/gooey-ness cheese rather than the watery consistency. The truffle fries were alright but my wife wish it had more truffle taste. [[ Conclusion ]] Great business place to get food as well as a nice dine-out experience. It's a solid place.

As much as Mazra is great at/known for their meats, they also put so much thought and care into their vegetables. For example, our favorite mezza is their Whole Cauliflower, which is a massive cauliflower head that's roasted and then coated with a lemon tahini dressing. (They also give you more lemon to squeeze on it.) The cauliflower always comes out perfectly roasted; the inner parts are tender and toothsome, while the outer parts are crispy and a deep, golden brown. Another great vegetable option is their Veggie Plate, which is a plate overflowing with delights on a bed of their rice: falafel; a segment of their cauliflower; roasted broccoli and potatoes; their saffron mushrooms; and a halloumi roll. Each item is about as perfect as can be, and the sheer quantity makes it a fantastic deal. Of course, we still love their shawarma plates, which you can get with either chicken or steak shawarma. The meat comes thinly cut and tender, and somehow still a bit juicy! The plates are also a great value, since they come with a ton of great items that pair well with the meat. These include a rich, savory sauce (toum [garlic sauce] with the chicken, tahini with the steak) and two of their amazing sides. My favorite sides are the baba ghannoush (creamy and earthy) and their fries (golden, crispy, and pillowy). They continue improving the space, too. The pickup window makes it so much easier to get takeout, and they've really dialed in the flow of the inside and back courtyard seating areas.

Meyhouse Sunnyvale -- Excellent Food, but the Service Pacing Could Be Much Better…read more I tried the $44.95 three-course prix fixe lunch and chose the Köpoğlu as my meze, upgraded the main to the Adana Kebab for $3, and added the Künefe for $2. The food was the strongest part of the experience, and several things stood out more than I expected. The complimentary bread was excellent--warm, fragrant, and nicely textured. I also really enjoyed the green herb sauce served with it. The parsley and mint flavors were quite pronounced, almost grassy, but in a good way. It was fresh and aromatic and worked very well with the bread. The Köpoğlu was one of the highlights of the meal. The roasted eggplant, tomato sauce, garlic yogurt, and olive oil were very well balanced. I especially liked the garlic yogurt--the acidity, garlic, and creaminess were all present without any one element overpowering the others. The tomato added sweetness and acidity, while the olive oil rounded everything out. It was especially good with the bread. The Adana Kebab was also very good. My first bite came from the end of the skewer and was slightly dry, but once I got into the center, the meat was noticeably juicier. The char from the grill was excellent, and the lamb had a clear lamb flavor without being gamey. The chopped red pepper mixed into the meat also added another layer of aroma and flavor. Even the rice surprised me. It looked like plain white rice, but it was flavorful enough to eat on its own, with a noticeable buttery, almost milky aroma. The flatbread underneath the kebab was also very good after soaking up some of the lamb juices and fat. If I had one criticism of the main plate itself, it would be the proportion of onion-tomato salad to meat. The salad tasted fine, but for my preference, there was a little too much of it. I really enjoy the lingering flavor of grilled lamb, and while the rice and bread help carry that flavor, the raw onion and tomato act as a strong palate cleanser and erase it quickly. Since the meat portion was relatively small compared with the rice and salad, I would personally prefer a little more kebab and a little less salad. The Künefe was another highlight. I really enjoyed the contrast between the crispy kadayıf on the outside and the soft, warm cheese inside. The pistachios on top were not something I particularly enjoyed by themselves, but mixed together with the cheese, syrup, and crispy pastry, they made much more sense. The first few bites, especially the areas that had not absorbed too much syrup, were excellent. Toward the center it became a little sweeter than I prefer, but overall I still liked it very much. Food-wise, I would actually give Meyhouse a slight edge over Dishdash. There were more layers and more small details to notice throughout the meal, from the bread and herb sauce to the Köpoğlu, Adana, rice, flatbread, and dessert. The service, however, did not match the level of the food. The restaurant was quite quiet at lunch, but the pacing was surprisingly rushed. I had barely started eating the Köpoğlu when the main course arrived. For a menu specifically presented as a three-course prix fixe, I expected the courses to be paced more deliberately. Instead, I had to choose between continuing to enjoy the appetizer and eating the kebab while it was still hot. There was also an issue with clearing the table. One staff member who was not the person taking my order repeatedly tried to remove my bread and the green herb sauce. The first time, I specifically asked him to leave the sauce. Later, after I finished the main course, he came back and again started clearing both without asking. I told him I wanted the bread to go, so he left the bread, but still removed the herb sauce. It was a small detail, but it made the service feel mechanical rather than attentive to what the guest had already requested. Overall, I would rate the food around 8.5/10 and the service around 6.5-7/10. Meyhouse is a little more expensive than Dishdash, but the prix fixe lunch is also very substantial. I only ate about half of the complimentary bread, and I was already quite full after the main course. Finishing the Künefe left me completely stuffed, so the portion size is definitely generous. I would still come back. Next time, I would probably try the Ahtapot, especially since it is only a $9 upgrade on the prix fixe compared with $25 à la carte. The food gives me a reason to return; I just hope the pacing and attention to small service details are better next time.
