I finally got a chance to try Zaxby's. It isn't the easiest place to get to if you're coming from the west. Its in a tiny business center in the middle od Blue Diamon Rd and not really at any intersections. So when I came to it from the east today, it was much easier than the last time I tried. Immediately I was struck by the service. One gentleman working there held the door for me as I was walking in. Ths person who took my order also brought it out to me. She even spelled my name right on the receipt. You'd be surprised at how often its wrong. Anyhow, service - A+ Now to the food. I ordered a 4 finger plate thst comes with toast, fries and slaw. Same order I get at Cane's. I figured that would be a good way to compare them. I definitely have a preference. Before I get to that, a bit about what I received. The toast was...toast. Not as thick and fluffy and the closest comparison. More toasty and more salty. The chicken fingers were actually pretty good albeit a bit small. They were hot, fresh and tasty. The sauce they came with was fine but mostly forgettable. I don't know why but it just didn't stand out to me. The fries had potential but were so very over seasoned. Some I didn't eat at all. Some I brushed off as much of the seasoning as I could. Yes, I was a fine seasoning but so so salty. I don't use a lot of salt. Partly for health reasons and partly just a long time personal preference. Finally, the coleslaw. Cool and creamy. Tangy and sweet. Probably the favorite item on my plate. Good service today. Mixed bag of food. Not for those on a sodium restrictive diet. But then what fast food is? I am happy to have had the opportunity to try Zaxby's but I don't think I'll be back soon. Zaxby's is one of those spots you hear hype about, so you give it a shot... and then you open the box and already know it's not going how you hoped. The "tenders" were closer to shrimp size and barely seasoned. Definitely not what I was expecting. The fries tasted like straight-from-the-freezer standard issue fries, nothing special at all. And the sauce? Felt like an off-brand version of Cane's -- similar vibe, just not as good. With so many solid chicken places around now, this one just didn't stand out. First time Trying this spot. I got the 4 tender plate (lemon pepper flavor). Service was great the cashier at drive thru was so friendly , the place was quite empty. Overall Food was ok/good for the most part flavor was there , tender was juicy and flavorful but tenders did feel a bit greasy and grease at the bottom of the plate and fries were a bit salty. I've been to one Zaxbys before in North Carolina last year and was not impressed , but decided to give this one a try anyway. The one I went to in the small town of Laurinburg had dirty tables and a large puddle of water by the soda machine and the manager told one of the employees to clean it up and they were not very enthused to do it. Also not the friendly Southern Hospitality I'm used to when I visit the Carolinas. I came here almost 2 weeks ago. Now this location as soon as I walked in was clean as a whistle , even the parking lot. Also there was no one sitting in the dining area which many people like myself get their orders to go. I walked in with an older couple and they went to the counter and looked at the menu and said all you sell is chicken ? I found it funny. They decided to leave without ordering anything. I had placed my order on the App and you get a free order of Chicken Tenders when you sign up. I saw an advertisement for the Chicken Fajita Quesadilla a week or so before , so that is what I got with Spicy Zax Sauce. I also got the Crinkle Cut Fries , Lemonade which was supposed to be Frozen , but they were out of the frozen and 5 Chicken Tenders tossed in Tongue Torch sauce. The counter person greeted me as soon as I walked in the door and kept me informed about how much longer for my order. He was very nice and so was the lady that came out a few minutes later. I really liked the Chicken Fajita Quesadilla and it was fat. I would definitely go back for it. The Crinkle Cut Fries were also good and is one of my favorite ways to get fries. The not Frozen Lemonade was bad ! When I got home I put a third of it in a glass and mixed it with sweet tea I had to drink it which helped it a lot. The Chicken Tenders were okay. I think they may have been better if I got plain and dipped them in sauce , but when I had them in N.C. I didn't think they were that good and I got them plain and used the Spicy Zax Sauce or the Sweet and Spicy. I said then and now that Cane's and Chick-fil-A have better tenders. Bojangle's Chicken Tenders are not good and they messed up not bringing Boned-In Chicken because the Fried Chicken Breast are so good. I will only go there for breakfast. I would like to try the Asian Salad and a Milkshake sometime when I'm in the area again. I would recommend you trying it if you haven't been to one. It's been 17 years since we lived in a town that had Zaxbys. My daughter has complained ever since. On the rare occasion she's been in a state that has Zax she's gone out of our way to find it to get her beloved strips with seasoned fries and Zax sauce. Cain's has been a pitiful substitute, it's really not that good. She was ecstatic to hear Zaxbys was finally coming to Vegas. Since they opened she's gone a few times, even though it's on the opposite side of the valley. When she first brought me a meal it reaffirmed that Zaxbys chicken is far superior to Caines and Chick Fil A, I'd recently had both. The crispy, crunchy, perfectly seasoned exterior and high quality, moist and flavorful chicken is great, even without sauce. It's just better. The fries are better too. Crinkle cut with Zax special seasoning, my favorite! Unfortunately, the past 2 times my daughter has brought me a meal the fries had NO seasoning at all. WTH? Are they forgetting to add it? Did they run out? Do you have to request "seasoned" fries when you order? It's really a bummer. Next time it will be requested when ordering. For the most recent take out order I tried the bacon ranch fries with ranch on the side. It was ok, except the fries had no seasoning, and the chicken was lukewarm and had dried out by the time it got to me. Note to self: only order the loaded fries when eating them immediately. We shared the fried pickles. They were fine, nothing special. I wish they used a different batter - not the breading - it falls off easily and is just too thick and salty for my liking. Won't order them again. Overall, the chicken with original Zax sauce is the star of the show here. Salads and sandwiches are excellent. To start, i did order pick up but only live 7mins away. So i cant review the inside or the service. Three stars at the most for the food. We got a couple meals and extra bread thinking it might rival Canes. Not even close at all. The toast was a floppy piece of sandwich bread, the coleslaw was too wet and had no flavor, and the chicken tenders were much smaller than we expected. If anything the crinkle fries were nicely cooked. we even tried their special sauces and there was nothing special about them. We spent about $60 for this family meal and it didn't feed my family of 4 and we didn't even eat all the food. With soooo many more options in town, i'd spend my $ elsewhere. The prices weren't cheaper either, i'd say comparable to Popeyes? but cheaper than Dave's Hot Chicken (although they are worth splurging on every now and then). Chicken was ok. Cane's is most comparable and tastier. Fries were very good. Toasts were good but again prefer Cane's. Buns on sliders were stale and disgusting so each one was tossed. Cookies were hard and not fresh. I expect more from a large chain but I do understand they are new to the market and just opened but I still feel like mistakes like stale bread and old cookies shouldn't be sold even if just opened. I do really like all the delicious sauces and it was nice to try many of them. They didn't try to charge us extra either like Bojangles. Would come back to try a salad but as for fingers I prefer Cane's all day long. Service was fast and employees were nice. I've been to the new Zaxby's in Las Vegas twice now since they opened, and honestly, I left both times feeling pretty underwhelmed. There are some bright spots. The place looks great and is nice, new, and spotless inside. Parking's a breeze, which already puts it ahead of a lot of other fast-food spots in town. The menu is loaded with options, so you'll definitely find something that sounds good, and their freshly brewed iced tea is excellent (and comes with free refills). I also appreciate the little details, like how the kids' meal includes a snack-size Rice Krispie treat. Small touch, but it's a nice one. Unfortunately, the food just doesn't live up to the hype. The chicken is surprisingly bland. It's not bad, just kind of forgettable, which is disappointing for a place that's supposed to specialize in it. You only get one small sauce with your meal, and they charge extra for more (which feels a little stingy). And while it's nice that the menu is extensive, it's almost too much and can feel kind of confusing and hard to navigate when you're just trying to grab a quick meal. With so many competing chicken joints in town that do it better, I worry about the success of this place. Came here on a Thursday afternoon and there was a line for the drive thru. There were staff taking orders through their pads, which made it quicker. I did wait a good 25 minutes in line to get our food, but it was a given since they just opened up. I ordered traditional wings and things one set of wings were buffalo garlic (medium) and the other with sweet and spicy sauce. It also came with chicken tenders, fries and a toast. Each order also came with their famous zaxby sauce and ranch. I also got a frozen strawberry lemonade to try. When I got our order, everything was good, but noticed the buffalo garlic wings were boneless instead of traditional... I also saw that their strawberry lemonade is "handcrafted" which made me want to get it. However at the drive thru, I saw staff putting the lemonade Minute Maid carton into the machine...Other than that, everything was good! Everything was cooked fresh and everything was seasoned well! We have always loved Zaxbys and we have missed it so much, after moving to Las Vegas years ago. It was just as we remembered it from when we use to live in Georgia. As far as the ambiance, it was nice considering the crowd. The seating was a small area , but it didn't seem crowded , it was comfortable. The wait was long, but the staff was awesome and managed the drive through line very well and the line inside the store too. The service was great and very friendly. We went on their second day of opening and they were very well organized and a top notch service overall considering the crazy rush of customers and big lines. The food was super fresh and delicious. The chicken was juicy and tender. The fries were perfectly seasoned. The bread was toasted and buttered just right. It was yummy . While in Vegas, we decided to try something we can't get back home in SoCal. Placed an order online and conveniently picked it up in the drive thru. My sister and I couldn't decide on what to order because everything sounded so good. We opted for the ZENSATION ZALAD (Mixed Greens with Carrots & Red Cabbage, Wonton Strips,Asian Slaw, one Veggie Eggroll and a packet of citrus vinaigrette dressing). We also ordered the Zappatizer Trio (fried white cheddar bites, fried pickles and veggie egg rolls) all to share. The salad was delicious, veggies were fresh, egg roll was nice and crispy (even though it came ON the salad) and the dressing was light and flavorful. I'm glad we shared it all because the portion was huge, it can definitely feed more than one person. The "fried trio" we had was also quite tasty. Everything was freshly fried, crisp, and nicely seasoned. We were given a variety of dipping sauces (honey mustard, ranch, sweet and spicy sauce and Zax sauce). The sauces were good and complimented the appetizers perfectly. It was my birthday and I wanted to try something new it was between here and Bojangles which I'm happy to see Vegas getting more options. The staff was helpful, took me a second to figure out the menu. I hate comparisons but Cane's (although a lot of people consider them overrated) better watch out LOL! They have a variety of options with chicken: fingers, wings, quesadillas and salads. The best part you're not given just one house sauce, they have a variety of sauces. I had a strawberry milkshake that was really good and my wife grabbed some cheesecake bites too with strawberry dipping sauce yes sirrr! It was crowded but not as bad as the drive thru. We waited in line for about 10 minutes and we waited for our food for maybe 15 minutes. The service was great and very friendly. The food was super fresh and delicious. The chicken was juicy but a little more salty than I expected but good nonetheless. The fries were perfectly seasoned. I decided to drop in on a Saturday night around 630pm. Ultra peak time, it was a mad house. The restaurant isn't very big at all, and I saw a lot of people waiting for their orders. I asked how long the wait would be, and they said 15 minutes. It ended up being 30 minutes, unfortunately. I ordered 10 chicken fingers for around $17, which comes with 2 sauces. I got the Zax and the spicy Zax, which is essentially their version of the Chick Fil A or Canes sauce. The chicken fingers were a big disappointment. Let's start with the portion size. Most were ridiculously small. They should renamed chicken pinkies, because that's how small they are. The other pieces were slightly bigger, but not by much. In regards to taste, the chicken is a bit dry and salty, which isn't a good combo. Dipping into the sauce helped a little, but not by much. The direct comparison to Raising Canes is a valid one, and I would much prefer Canes which has bigger and juicer chicken tenders, with a better sauce IMO. Zaxby's has a very broad menu, with items like fried shrimp, boneless wings, and even fried egg rolls. While I haven't tried anything else other than the chicken, I'm pretty sure you can get a better version of these items elsewhere. I suspect it's the "master of none" mentality. There is a plethora of chicken spots in Vegas I'd rather have over Zaxby's. One and done for me. read more
