Depending on the event and the weather, it can be wonderfully attended and great atmospheric temperature. It's like a mini diner in the front with a bar. In the back is a large dance area with a small elevated stage and bar. Out to the left is the outdoor bench seating area, refreshing. The event I attended was a David Bowie tribute. The Haden Triplets were hauling their gear offstage after a successful concert, but they nearly waited for far too long. The moment Johnny Angel and DJ Rose Knows cued up "I Just Want to be Your Everything" the disco ball was lit. All walks of disco life had their legs set on strut for Club Discotheque: slick business tweed dudes, chic jet setting Frenchmen, zaftig dancing Queens, fit italo freaks in hot dog colored track suits, and sequined ladies all came to meet their feverish disco dancing need. The whole dance area quickly felt alive as if the sheer, sweaty, rug cutting of the throngs of disco fans gave the space a racing heartbeat. I am still amazed Haden Triplets were able to get their bass offstage in one piece. Johnny Angel threaded together a sequence of good clean disco jams that got bodies wiggling. Every memorable disco jam got a nostalgic bump from "More than a Woman" to "Boogie Nights." I remember breaking a sweat when Johnny Angel dropped "Do You Wanna Funk" by Sylvester and Patrick Cowley. When I paused to dab my brow I looked over at the DJ booth: Johnny A. and DJ Rose were dancing way too hard. The whole place twirled under the shiny mirror ball! Easy to dance when a smooth, soigne man like Johnny is on the turntables. The ripples on the floor went seismic for the majority of DJ Rose Knows's set. She mixed in hits like "He's the Greatest Dancer" while flicking a golden hand fan open and shut in a blink. I saw people carrying people around. One man repeatedly executed handsprings off the stage. Several fine women got down on steps at the top of the club; they did not stop swaying up there either. When DJ Rose Knows dropped "Last Dance" by Donna Summer, a mass catharsis occurred. One of my friends bobbed her head and made a statement that perfectly wrapped up the whole disco night: "I love this song." Los Angeles needs more disco nights like the ones Johnny and DJ Rose create. I welcome the prospect of more and still more Club Discotheques. The more disco these two give, the more LA will want. Great venue and sound but the lack of a proper stage means you won't be able to see much of the artist, especially the drummer or anyone sitting down. Such a disappointment to spend that much money to see Nate Smith and Mark Guiliana and you couldn't even see them. Please put in a proper stage! read more

This review only pertains to the concert venue part of Zebulon. I went there to see an artist I'd been wanting to see live for a long time. It was a Monday night and the show was at 10 pm. There was no street parking nearby. They do have valet parking but it looked full. Anyway, I drove about a quarter mile southeast on Ripple Street off of Fletcher Drive and found quite a bit of street parking. It was pretty desolate, so I'm not endorsing you do that, especially alone. Stay safe, my Yelpy friends! Like I said earlier, the show was on a Monday night at 10 pm and the place was packed. The front part is a bar and restaurant jam-packed with people enjoying each other's company. There was no cover charge so I walked right into the concert venue. They were behind schedule. The act on stage had a big following. There were some seats but they were all taken. When they were done over half the people left so I was able to grab a front row center seat for the show I came to watch. Gotta' love that! There's a bar in the concert venue. It was really crowded. They also have free water over to the side of the bar. Very cool of them to do that. Very cool indeed! No complaints here. The sound was perfect for the size of the room. All good in my book. I'd definitely go back again and see another musical act. read more

I'm glad I discovered Zebulon lately. It's more than a cool music venue, that's how they started in Brooklyn and then moved to Frogtown in LA, a cool, hip, trendy area. Zebulon offers great concerts, with cool, diverse bands (reasonable ticket prices), free screenings in the weekends of new movies, indie productions, cool foreign films, edgy American movies, off the beaten path. Great programming, not your usual movies that you've seen a bunch of times. So, check their events calendars, they're very active! They also have a vintage market every Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, in their parking lot, it's fun, lively, you can hunt for great finds. And sometimes vinyl markets and other cool events. Their food is great, I love their brunch which they have in the weekends from 11 am to 5 pm, the shakshuka (a flavorful Tunisian dish with poached eggs, tomato sauce, harissa and their wonderful house bread) is my favorite. My husband likes their Zebulon breakfast plate - choose how you want to have your eggs made, salad and fries. Their house coffee is great, strong, flavorful, free re-fills. The orange juice is natural, fresh squeezed. The french toast is on my list to try next! We also had some of their beers (great beer selection) - I love a Kronenbourg since my student years in Paris and my husband likes their Smog City Amber Ale. Their cocktails look great, need to try them! I love their fries, full of flavor, the garlic and rosemary ones are a must. Go great with a cold one and the herbed aioli and the Dijon mustard sauces are to die for!!! Decent prices. The staff here is great, we dealt with several people the last few times we went over Zebulon and they're nice and cool. The space is great, two areas inside, a big concert/screenings area with a bar and a cute cafe area with another bar. Great vinyl collection the on the walls! They also have a nicely decorated outdoor area, great to grab a bite and enjoy a drink on a nice afternoon. Parking is a bit difficult, give yourself time to hunt for a spot on the streets around or do valet for concerts. Wanted to wait for her, but they just cussed me out and told me to be a good friend and wait outside in the street. Friend of mine wanted to use the opportunity to use the restroom too to let my gf know but they cussed her out too and called her dumb and that she doesn't listen and she has to wait outside. Not many places in town that you can see a show, grab some great cocktails, and eat a solid meal - all in one spot. The bar is top notch, with ample selection of great liquor and expertly crafted cocktails. The outdoor area is expansive, truly huge with ample seating or standing room. The venue has all the elements of a large warehouse show, except with a solid PA. It sounds huge in here, and every time I've seen a band here, it was always epic from indie to thrash punk. To be honest I haven't had more than the fries to eat here but with options like pizza and tacos in lieu of traditional bar food, it'd be hard to go to wrong. Definitely worth the trip! read more

Best place to enjoy dancing, or enjoy a show, or enjoy the nighttime air in their elite patio area. Two bars with different atmospheres so you can go where you feel is fit for your current mood. Always cool movies being played. I cannot believe that they always offer earplugs for free, what a generous service, but I do believe it when you hear how incredibly loud some of the live shows can be. Don't know anything about food selections offered from inside but more often than not there will be a hot dog vendor and/or a couple food trucks. So many djs and even performances of bands are often free, which makes coming here aaalways feel worth it, especially if you have a friend or two and need something to enjoy and a place to just be. read more

Was here Thursday for a Sue Foley concert. Maybe because it was a weekday wasn't as packed as people people have commented. Cool music venue with a local dive bar atmosphere. Brandon at the door was a nice guy and the two girl bartenders who took care of us (hubby and me) were friendly and attentive as were our servers. We had 2 pizzas and they were great. I completely lied to myself and everyone around me when I promised last week would be the final time I go out this year. It was Friday and I had just finished up the week by being rejected for a job. Instead of sobbing into a pillow and cursing at the gods, I did what I normally do to deal with stress....scower the internet for venues to go dancing. And surprise, surprise, Zebulon had DJ Clifton playing. I immediately knew this would be the perfect remedy to get me out of my sour mood. I arrived around 10:30 and completely bypassed the crowded front part of the place. I entered the back room to find a combination of people dancing and standing around. What's the point of going out dancing just to stand around for most of the time? Idk. But I made sure to get my 15 dollar uber ride's worth of groovin'. The space was big and because of the rain, it wasn't filled up so it gave those who were dancing, lots of room to do so. Although it was raining, I did manage to take a smoke break or two outside. During the breaks in the rain, there were still quite a few people outside; socializing and having a good time. Before the rain really came down, the patio was packed! They also had a food truck outside with lots of people in line ready to eat. I had a fun time at Zebulon. I'm sure i'll be back one day, but I ghosted guy who bought me drinks (ain't I a stinker) so I'll be laying low before I head back again. read more

Sound quality isn't very good so you gotta figure out where you wanna dance if you can squeeze in. Not much lighting or effects inside..just a dark room with minimal lighting and a DJ playing. Horrible service! Bartender was pissed that I didn't automatically know what's on the menu and when I sent a drink back for tasting disgusting she had a tantrum! Switched out my drink for a different one, slammed it on the table (spilling the drink) and said "here you go princess" sarcastically. Not to mention she accused me of keeping the first drink and when I pointed to the empty cup on the counter from her throwing it away she just walked away. Bathrooms were horrible too! I have seen some of my favorite artists at this venue. This rating isn't about the music and ambiance. I give Zebulon a 3 star rating because they charged my debit card $107 for a $10 bill. They don't answer their damn phone, and so, it has complicated the solution to this problem. (Honestly, from my experience, a lot of bars overcharge their customers. I started saving my receipts after one incident and noticed a pattern. Bartenders raise the tip I write down or what have you.) Anyway, this has been very annoying. ‼My phone and wallet were stolen out of my zipped purse on the dance floor at Zebulon. My purse was crossbody (on me) and somebody pulled at the zipper with full force and made the grab for as much as they could. They disappeared into the crowd before I could identify them. Zebulon did not acknowledge the issue and did not call me back after I left multiple messages to see if any items were recovered. The person who stole my wallet immediately charged a drink at the bar to my card which was pretty bold, and the entirety of the situation leads me to believe that Zebulon may have some responsibility in these thefts. I went into detail about a sketchy thing I saw here but one of the other bartenders - who were perfectly chill - messaged me to tell me I was mistaken about what I saw happen. Still, it freaked me out given the other reviews about this place and what goes on here.
