Oh my gosh, so happy I found this place. Actually found through Groupon. Surprised because usually Groupon food is from businesses that aren't very impressive, but this place was AMAZING!!!! It is so beautiful and elegant inside. Very peaceful ambience. Got the Lunch special with butter chicken and ordered a masala chai. Best food I think I've had ever! So full of flavor. I had to close my eyes to just experience it lol The chai had an amazing flavor , so authentic and you could taste the quality. Now I know why they have the Groupon.... To get you addicted. We are not fans of "hot" food, but we went anyway and had a great time. The restaurant is well appointed. The attention to detail was note worthy, though I'm hardly any kind of a restaurant snob. Our server explained and recommended. I like that. We ordered a chicken curry, and on the 1 to 5 for spice, we asked for negative 2! The server laughed but gave us something we could eat. I had a glass of wine with our shared dinner. Excellent service and food. $45 out the door. I look forward to taking friends to the place. Been to Zen Curry twice now. First time we only had indo chinese which was great and our server Isaam was so nice and fun to be around. Second time was tonight - and we ordered samosas, chicken tandoori, chicken seekh kabob, chicken tikka masala, lamb biryani, and some sides. Our server, Darcy, was so kind and sweet and also helpful in choosing what to get! We sat outside both times and the ambiance is lovely. We enjoyed our lunch, but a 4.8 rating seems a bit much. The tandoori wings lacked the flavor and bite I was expecting, especially compared to the stellar wings at Pijja Palace in Silver Lake. The wings had a bit of char on them, which was a nice touch, but otherwise they were mostly flavorless, except for a hint of lemon. The grilled vegetables had the same basic profile as the wings, like they used the same seasoning, which seems a bit odd considering the vast difference in flavor I would expect between vegetables and wings. Anyway, the grilled vegetables by themselves were tasty, about a 4-4.5. The chicken vindaloo was as hearty and flavorful as I expected, with a satisfyingly rich sauce that I spooned over the basmati rice, some of the best I've eaten. We ordered some naan, which came slightly charred, to round out the dish. If you're a beer person, get the Flying Horse, a nice Indian lager imported from Bangalore, to wash it all down. Pretty good service--except the one time the waitress disappeared for a bit--and a couple of nice sauces. (Loved the mint sauce!) read more

Don't let the storefront fool you--this is a masterclass in Indian cuisine! I'll be honest: when I first saw the signage and the strip center location, I wasn't sure what to expect. But after a recommendation from a friend's boss (who is from India and called this the best Indian food in America), we had to try Zen Curry. I'm from the SF Bay Area where we have some amazing Indian restaurants, so I admit my expectations were high. I ordered the chicken tikka(mild), plain naan and rice to go. When I got back to my hotel, I found the rice was missing. The second disappointment was the tikka masala was SO spicy, I couldn't even it eat and I like a fair amount of spice. I mean like it was waaaaay hot. I'm thinking I got the wrong order. I basically ate a piece of naan which tasted average and I'm now going to sleep. I've been driving ALL day and I don't even have the energy to go back to the restaurant to get my correct order tonight. I have left a stellar review for this restaurant in the past and have told everyone about it. Most, after visiting, agreed that it was the best Indian food they'd ever eaten. I'm updating this review because the last two times I've picked up a to go order, there was very little meat in the curry sauce, whether full order or lunch menu . I order coconut chicken curry and the chicken that they put in the meal is what I believe to be chicken thigh. When placing this particular order, I asked if they had lunch specials yet, as they hadn't in the past that I can recall and I actually made that suggestion on my prior review, thinking it might be a good idea for them. Today I ended up trying the lunch special which the kind young man on the phone said they now offered and that it was half the sizes as a regular order. I know it can get a little pricey and I thought I'd try the lunch special. Like the full order there is a lot of delicious curry sauce in ratio to a lesser amount of meat which is typical. But the last full order I picked up look like they either cut back on the meat quite a bit or it was just a fluke that I got less meat, which I gave them the benefit of the doubt believing the latter. This time, with the lunch special, there was the same amount of sauce as a full order would have but I kid you not, there were only 4 bites of chicken in the tub of sauce; I was able to fish out what was equivalent to maybe 1/2 of a small chicken thigh if that. I love this place but I need protein in my diet and am watching where I spend my money/ eating out. While they have an extensive menu with a lot to offer I probably wouldn't come back too often unless there's a change. $15 is still a decent amount to spend on a to- go lunch and I feel they can probably do better. read more

Issan was great as our waiter, knowledgeable about all the food and able to explain everything and give advice. He often came back to check on us. I'm usually able to tolerate some spice and I felt a medium was very good, I could still taste all the seasoning on the tandoori salmon. It was not Indian level medium for sure. We also got the gobi manchurian which is fried cauliflower, which is a great starter. Fresh veggies and fish. Dessert was the kulfi ice cream! Saffron and some spices. The owner Toya is a great story teller and had me awaiting what was going to happen next. He's funny, entertaining, and a great host. Besides the amazing atmosphere the food is next level.
