Let me just say there is a reason why Zen Curry is ranked #22 on Yelp. Their food is delicious! We had the crispy cauliflower for our appetizer and it reminded me of a vegetarian version of kung pao. It was crispy and delicious. For our mains we had the tandoori chicken with roasted vegetables for an up charge of $8. We also had the coconut chicken curry and it came with jasmine rice. Both dishes were very flavorful. We ordered the garlic naan which was a great accompaniment to our meal The service provided by Issam was great and he suggested the roasted vegetables with the tandoori chicken which was a great suggestion. Katie who brought the dishes out to us was friendly and stated that she loves working there. The reason for the four stars is that the total bill was almost $100 for just the two of us and no drinks. This included a well deserved 20% tip. This is very pricey for two chicken dishes and a vegetable appetizer compared to other delicious Indian restaurants in the area. Best Indian - Nepal cuisine in Temecula and surrounding areas! The food is rich, flavorful and fresh. The owner takes real pride in everything about this restaurant, including quality of food, decor, and the friendly service of all the staff. We usually order spinach paneer and chicken curry, which is excellent here. Recently we were introduced to their butter chicken, vegetable briyani, steamed dumplings, and mango lassi, which we had during our most recent dining experience here. And then there is their garlic naan. I highly recommend anything I listed here! Also the roasted cauliflower. I guess so far everything I have eaten here has been a sure thing. Service tremendous. Food remarkable. This was our 2nd visit. My wife and I always share, and last time We both remembered that we ordered and liked the Tiki Masala. We don't recall what the other thing was that we ordered, anyway we got the Tiki Masala and their chow mein. The chow mein was good, but nothing great. But the Tiki masala was very good and highly recommend. We will likely always order that and try something new everytime we go. My wife likes her food mild to medium and i like my food HOT...so we always order "medium" and ask for spice on the side. They have a VERY FLAVORFUL habanero sauce...not only is it very spicy (my wife says so by dipping a bit on her finger, where my motto is "there is no such thing as "too spicy"), it also is very deep in flavor. A little goes a long way...but i still asked for 2 sides of their habanero sauce (grin). We also both very much liked the mint/cilantro sauce. We dipped both the free chips and the ordered garlic nann bread in the mint sauce and "loved" it. Their selection choice is huge with about 5 or 6 large pages...2 are shown here. I stopped in because I could smell curry from the road and the owner and manager both greeted me with a warm welcoming and the friendliest smile ever. It's really nice in there and it's not too loud which is nice if you want a conversation. I gotta say, I don't really like chicken thighs, but if it's like this from here? Sign me up for it! The chicken was amazingly tender, and the curry was just PERFECT! The Himalayan coffee, don't even get me started on the taste, not too bitter, not sweet like a Frappuccino, it was divine! Once you enter the door, the first thing you'll experience is the aroma of herbs and spices that just permeates the whole restaurant. My taste buds and gastronomic senses were all in Level 5 mode . Our serve, Promo, was very attentive and professional. He took time to explain their best dishes and personal recommendations. In terms of the food everything we ordered were 11/10. This is definitely one of my top 2 Indian-Nepalese resto I've had. So here's what I ordered: 1. Tandoori chicken wings - 10/10 - tender and well seasoned. Very flavorful and you can taste the spices. Amazing appetizer 2. Butter chicken - 12/10 - out of bounds. Overall flavor were so well balanced from herbs and spice and non overpowered the other. 3. Grilled lamb chops - 15/10 - prolly the best grilled lamb chops I've had. Tender smoky herbaceous and well balanced spice. Dipped it with their spicy sauce and mint chutney was divine! 4. Garlic naan - 15/10 - I don't know how they made their naan but it was phenomenal. It must be their tandoori oven. Crispy edges, soft and gooey and lots of garlic and butter flavor. I'm just blown away and glad to have a top notch quality Indian-Nepalese resto in the valley! I will review again once I eat at the restaurant when food is fresh and hot. I ordered to go and it was made quickly. They have a patio which is nice. 3 stars bc the naan bread was highly disappointing. It was so chewy and did not taste exceptional like every naan I've ever had. I eat vegetarian and Indian food a lot and I'd have to say this naan was by far the worst. I will attribute this assessment to it being "to go", but I want to eat at the restaurant bc the chicken vindaloo was a 10! I loved it! It was so robust in flavor, beautiful texture, and such tender chicken! Absolutely divine! Only negative is that it had no spicy flavor. I ordered their highest level and I could taste only a hint of spicy. Still, it deserves a 10. Because of the vindaloo i want to eat there in person. After my 10 day water fast, ill certainly try their restaurant out! I'll update my review after. read more

The restaurant gives an upscale feel, with the fancier dining sets, but the food feels like it was made at home. In a party of 3, we ordered the chicken momos, saag paneer, tandoori chicken, lamb tikka masala, two orders of naan, and (of course) mango lassi. Yes, we left with quite an amount of leftovers. The food didn't take long to arrive and everything was delicious! Our server, whose name I didn't get, was so attentive and nice - he even let me try a spicy version of the momo sauce for my naan. My personal favorite was the lamb tikka masala; it was so flavorful and the meat was so tender. It's like meeting a hot girl and you go on a date and she's got no personality. When you walk in this for the first time, you'll get excited. Place looks amazing. They definitely spent money to make this look like a high end restaurant. After you have the food you'll realize the price they charge is not a reflection of the quality of the food they serve. It's to pay for the huge overhead. Prices are about 20-25-% higher than our fav Indian restaurant in the area. But taste and quality is half of the other place. It was really disappointing. To top it off, service isn't even great. Def won't be coming back. We ordered the chilli fish appetizer along with the grilled tandoori salmon, veg biryani, garlic naan, and chicken curry. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh and healthy without being overly oily, so we enjoyed the meal guilt-free. We even got extra chicken curry and garlic naan to go! The owners, Toya and Hari, were incredibly friendly and thoughtful. Perfection. I absolutely love this place! I had never been to a restaurant that served Indian cuisine before. Sure, I've tried some of my daughter's take-out here and there or tasted an "Indian-inspired" appetizer somewhere, but never a full meal at an Indian food place. So this was awesome! The reservation was made and when we arrived the friendly host led us right to our booth (I love booths!) where we found a little sign saying "Welcome David". So thoughtful. It's those little things that set you apart from everyone else. Our server, Issam, was great! He was super helpful with suggestions about the menu and spice levels and what to add. For example, he suggested we try both the cheese naan and the garlic one. Great suggestion! They were both amazing. And he suggested we add a bed of veggies to our Tandori shrimp, again AMAZING! We ordered Coconut Shrimp Marsala, Chicken, and a Lamb dish and we absolutely enjoyed every bite. We're excited to return and try many of the other items on the menu. See you there! read more

The owner was able to accommodate my request without any issue, and when my party and I arrived, our table was ready. The server was friendly and the food was delivered promptly. My go to is the coconut curry with a side of garlic naan bread. My husband and I usually split our order, and it's enough for both of us (we are light eaters). The restaurant is always clean and the seats are comfortable. My husband and I are repeat customers because the food is good and the owner is always so welcoming. I especially liked the creaminess of the butter chicken. They serve a crispy chickpea bread with chutney as a yummy free starter. Service was excellent, Darci was our waitress and she was so nice and helpful throughout. The restaurant has a great ambiance, food came out hot and fresh.
