I love coming to Zeppelin Hall. This is a great bar with lots of indoor and outdoor space. And they have a large parking lot. They have an awesome selection of beers and really good food items. I recently came on a Friday night with some friends here, to just chill and have food and drinks. I enjoying trying out different beers everytime I come here, since they offer so many, but my favorites will always be IPA beers. And Zeppelin Hall offers at least 5 to 6 different ones. Cant go wrong with any of their lagers, pilsners, or dark beers either ;) For their food, it is amazing. Love all of their bbq options here. This is the best part of there menu, imo. The smoked wings are one of my favorite items to order, as they are always on point and cooked to perfection. The sausage platters are another great item to order. Plus the burgers, ribs, pulled chicken, and giant pretzels are all popular items I think everyone should try. You cant go wrong with any menu item really though, as everything taste great. Also, on certain days they have live music going on. This is just a really fun bar to come hangout with a group of friends to relax, eat, and drink. Always a good time here! Huge indoor & outdoor bar areas, great beer selection, fun live music, and a tasty menu of BBQ and German dishes to satisfy all your late night cravings. They even have games on request at certain tables, which is great for big groups. Every time I've been here though I've noticed that the food is consistently slow, even if you order something as small as fries. You'll likely have to wait a while for your order, so try not to come too hungry or starving. During my last visit there was always someone walking around to help clear tables and clean up our finished drinks and food. We've been here for drinks a few times. The food never really looked good and there are many better places to eat at in Jersey City. The last time we went, it was 8:35pm on a Saturday. They have a sign at their entrance saying no kids can be in the establishment after 9. We only planned on staying there for one drink and be out well before 9 with our kids. When we entered, the bouncer very rudely said we can't have kids in there. We explained that we knew we had to be out by 9 and we would because we had reservations elsewhere at 9:15. He proceeds to say with an awful attitude "well your reservation isn't here so you ain't staying here". Still rudely he says that kids can't be in there after 8. We didn't have a problem with the rule, but how we were spoken to. I asked him why the need to speak to us in that way and he then became very defensive and said "I just said you can't have the kids here", pointing his finger at me and then pointing to the door "there's the door". They clearly don't believe in being polite to patrons as this guy double my size felt it was ok to speak to a woman like that in front of all his patrons (which were only like 8 people). I emailed the establishment to let them know what happened and nobody bothered to reply. We will definitely never be back. Better off going to Smorgasbar instead- better food and better service. read more

This place it pretty cool! All types of people and their fur babies come here. It is a nice laid back environment with very spacious rooms and outdoor patio. You order and pick up at a window indoors and you drab a beer or cider from one of the bars indoors or outdoors. The prices are AMAZING! Low price for quality food and brews. I've been here twice and I really like it here! It's very spacious- there's so many different rooms and an outdoor area to hang out. Personally I love the outdoor area here, it has a bunch of benches with some cute lights and just has a really nice vibe to it. During the colder months they even have a "Polar Vortex" outside with some fire to keep you warm! If you're like me and you're not a beer drinker don't worry- you can get your basic mixed drinks and they make them strong! Inside, there is a counter where you can order food and they have a decent selection of some finger foods and BBQ. I've tried the pretzel and the chicken fingers and fries and they were tasty. Zeppelin Hall gets 5 stars for both the environment and food. We have thrown multiple events here and this place gets it done. The staff has always accommodated our large group and assisted in reserving seating areas. There is always a large variety of beers, as well as cocktails and the new food menu is delicious. I have had the bbq platter on multiple occasions and the meat is tender and well seasoned. On our last visit we tried the crawfish boil and it was tasty, although a bit messy for bar food. Came last Friday with friends and they were doing Baconfest. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share. They were out of bacon guacamole by 9pm so we got a couple of orders of the sliders (very good), bacon fondue (quite good), jalapeño poppers (not so good) and bacon lollipop which from the description read like a savory dish and instead was a long skewer topped with a Boston cream donut and bacon chunks with caramel apples and stringed sugar, WTF?! Awesome Bier Garden in JC! I've been to Zeppelin Hall a couple of times with a few buddies, and it's an awesome space. Tall ceilings, a large patio out back, multiple bars, and a long tap list. Drinks & Food - 4/5 - Got a long beer list, mix bag of IPAs, Lagers, Pilsners, and even sours, but do remember this is German-themed - so you'll see some fest biers and some nice lagers. A good drink recommendation is the Spaten Oktoberfest bier or the Jack Abbey's lager! Food-wise, they go BBQ and sausages, which are pretty high priced ($$$), but its a large plate to offset some cost ;). Service - 4/5 - My experience with the service has been pretty good! The people manning the main bar in the fireplace room are always the nicest, although I had varied experiences at the other two bars. The staff is nice to help remove trash and keep things neat. Venue - 4/5 - They got 2 main halls (the fireplace room and the main room (past those bulky doors). They also have a large patio with tons of benches and fireplaces (if you're looking to hang outside during the winter). There are bars in each of these rooms, however, if you're looking to drink from glass cups, I'll order from the fireplace room. It's pretty clean overall, and they got nice decorations with huge projectors showing games. This place is huge!! I came in last Saturday when they opened and had a great experience. We hung out by the fire pit, grabbed drinks at the bar, and ate some really delicious German inspired food. We were pleasantly surprised when the chef came over to our table and offered to try some stuff he was working on in the kitchen and he ended up being a two time chopped champion! The real show stopper for me was the pretzels that are imported from Munich, Germany. This was the best soft pretzel I have had in my whole life! When it comes to the big picture stuff, Zepp Hall has got it covered. It's a massive beer hall with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, they've got a mighty fine selection of craft brews and you can get any sort of authentic German fare that you are craving. If a tall beer and a brat doesn't make for a satisfying biergarten trip, then I don't know what will! The reason that Zeppelin falls short of five, or even four stars is because of some smaller details. I don't want to sound nitpicky, but there are just a couple of things about this place that really irk me! For one, the glasses here are always smudged and dirty. And, speaking of dirty, it's just generally not that clean inside. The tables feel cluttered and unkempt, and I just wish that their cleaning crew came through a little more then they do now. There's also always a kids birthday party going on which I think is kind of odd. It's weird not to be able to get a seat at a bar because it's been taken over by a child's birthday party. Babies in biergartens and dirty conditions aside, Zeppelin hall is fun. It's fun for a sports game, it's fun for a day drink and it's a great addition to the neighborhood. Clearly not following any pandemic guidelines. Went on a Saturday evening and it was completely over capacity inside and outside- we could not even get a table. Observed no social distancing, mask wearing or table sanitising. Loud drunk crowd of young 20 year olds clearly not caring about the pandemic. Not to mention it was the tackiest bar I've ever been to. Didnt feel safe even ordering a drink ( and gave up after standing in line for 15 minutes) I doubt they were washing glasses carefully. Oh my gosh, it's so big! Sure, if I had a nickel for every time I've heard that, I'd have fifteen cents, but this is one of the few times I said it and actually meant it! This place is gigantic! There are three big rooms inside the beer hall, then you have the outside portion. It's stunning in its size and scale. The setup is a bit different from other beer halls in that everything is self-serve, but that's okay as long as you have someone holding your seats. On a breezy Saturday afternoon, the place was maybe half full and both beer and food service were fast. The beer list is very good. There were at least 10 beers, including some German beers, that I'd never had before. I fell in love with Schoffenhoffer Grapefruit. So delicious! The pretzel I had was almost as good as the one I had the Lowenbrau tent in Munich last year. The crowd was pretty chill. I like communal tables so it was fun interacting with the folks nearby. I was here until about 7:00 pm on a Saturday and I do have to say there were a lot of children here. I think someone was even having a kid's birthday party as we say a lot of balloons and strollers going to the back room. In the afternoon, I think it's fine to have a family outing at a place like this because I'm coming from the standpoint that you come for a Stammtisch with friends....you don't come to get hammered as quickly as possible or to curse as loudly as you can. Having said that, as it got later, there were a lot of kids running around, particularly near the staircase for the restrooms and I saw some close calls. The lady who was serving the bar outside last night was extremely rude, I paid my beer with apple pay signed the receipt and was taking the money from my wallet to tip her, before I could finish she told me if I don't tip she wouldn't serve me anymore and that I should go to the bar inside, she didn't even let me explain and talked to the other bartender not to serve me too, however the girl from the bar inside was very lovely...I understand people works for tips but there's a different way to go after it without being like this! Four stars, based solely on the size, location and draft options. It's hard to believe this place is as big as it is considering how tight things are in and around Jersey City. Lots of parking as well. Tons of seating both indoors and outdoors, a good size dance floor and at least three bars. The prices are about what you'd expect. I love the large drafts (at least 32 oz.) I'm not sure what their regular menu is like because I've never gone here for lunch or dinner, but their late night menu is awful. Frozen, greasy, overpriced food. Came here for the first time early on a Saturday evening to get some dinner. When we first walked in we noticed a guy at the podium checking some id's he waved us through and said self seating have a good time. There was a bar and some tables in the first room and people playing board games. We walked around the corner to the large room and figured out the set up. Place your food order at the window and pay then get a pager and pick up at the other window when it's ready. Get your own utensils and condiments and find a seat at one of the large communal tables. They do also have outdoor seating with a fire pit but it was a little too cold out for that tonight. Then get your drinks at one of the bars. They also have a stage there and many Tv's throughout the room. Like most reviews mention of course most everyone is drinking beer here since it is a biergarten and it did seem like there were a lot of kids running around for a place like this. For food we split the Butchers pick platter with pulled pork, ribs, chicken, and fries and a Giant pretzel. I thought the food was just ok. The pretzel was pretty good. Nothing remarkable about the BBQ. We don't drink beer so can't comment on that we just had soda to drink. It was starting to get busy as it was getting later and the tables were starting to get crowded. This place is so amazing. They had so many beers on tap and there food it good too! The place itself is massive; waiting in line for beer doesn't take to long. The food on the other hand took about 10 mins longer then told but still not to bad for what we ordered. Seating outside was really nice especially for the area. Table and seats just work as people getting up and leaving and you sit down. There were still some little kids there late at night, but they were dancing in front of the band playing and actually not even noticeable unless you went inside for something. There prices for beer are great, got a pitcher of purple haze for 18 bucks since they ran out of large mugs. Overall, I just wish this place was closer to home so I could come more often. read more

I was in Jersey City to celebrate my friend's birthday and we decided to stop here for a beer and some bites to get the night started. We walked in at about 4:30pm on a Saturday and I wasn't at all surprised to see a rather full house (it was beautiful out!). What I was surprised to see was how family friendly this beer garden is. There were little kids running around just about everywhere you looked. Seems like this is a pretty popular place for people to come with their families and bring their young ones along. The space is HUGE - there is ample seating both inside and outside, and a full bar in each area. Considering how crowded it was outside, you would think there would be a bartender at the outdoor bar, but there wasn't... so unfortunately, our group had to squeeze our way through the crowd to go inside and get drinks. There was only one bartender inside and she was swamped with customers (probably because everyone that was sitting outside had to get their drinks inside). The beer garden definitely wasn't staffed properly. It also didn't help that the bartender was anything but pleasant. Can you blame her though? She was by herself! As far as food goes, we tried the Pierogis and Potato Pancakes. Although the first wasn't bad, it wasn't anything special either. The Potato Pancakes definitely stole the show! They were delicious and very well made. All of us commented on how perfectly crispy they were! They came four to an order which were good for our group of four to munch on (although I'm pretty sure we all could have eaten more). Although this place was a good spot to spend about an hour and half of our afternoon at, I'm not sure if it would be on my radar for next time. If the weather is nice, maybe I'll revisit, but I'm sure there's other places in Jersey City that I would rather spend my time. read more

I had to be very careful not to let my eyes do the ordering because my belly wasn't going to be able to hold in all of this deliciousness. I still managed to get a "large" Pilsner Urquell (Czech beer) in what I thought was a glass stein but was actually plastic. Boo. For dinner, I went with the sausage sampler plate. The burgers looked good and the pretzel looked good, but I let the hostess choose the sausages and it was the right choice for me. Three decent sized ones with sauerkraut and rye bread and a big pile of fries. Order and pay at the window, come pick up your food when the pager goes off. Then pick up your cutlery and condiments. They were out of EVERY OTHER ITEM we tried to order and adding insult to injury the woman taking orders could not have been any less unapologetic. We came on a Friday night and despite the amount of people there, there was an ample amount of indoor and outdoor seating available. The place is fairly clean given the traffic. Foosball and corn hole are located on premises, and there are multiple indoor and outdoor bars to keep the party going. Their menu consists of European style sandwiches and platters, but they also have a sizable barbecue menu. My smoky chicken wings were pretty bomb- crunchy and salty on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. The pickled jalapeños and onions gave a nice tangy kick to enhance the salty and savory aspects of the dry rub. I'd probably recommend ordering food as soon as you get here; given the busyness, it took us a good half hour to get our food items. Really disappointed. We've been here before and were last here for the Bacon Fest. At that time a few of the items we ordered weren't being served that evening, but we chalked it up to it being mid-week. This time, however, it was Father's Day and they just weren't on their game. Zeppelin Hall was my husband's choice for Father's Day because of the garlic menu. 6 of us (Grandpa, Grandma, husband, 30 year old son, 13 year old daughter & I) got together to celebrate. We were far from being the only multi-generational group. There were plenty of others. We all sat out back. The people inside were watching soccer. The people outside were mostly families. Someone got the bright idea to start blasting pop music and you could collectively see all the Dads and Grandpas start to groan. We arrived around 3:30. Everyone decided on what they wanted, and my son and I went up to the register to put in the order. I think we waited about a half hour to get all of the food. Our buzzer went off, and three of us all went up to get the food. They did not make the mac and cheese sides or the potato salad sides so we didn't get them with the two meat platters. We had to wait for them to make more so we needed to get another buzzer. They also did not have any plastic forks out, and we had to wait for them to find them. We weren't the only ones missing sides - lots of people were ticked off and were handed buzzers to wait for the stuff. The three guys all ordered knockwurst and immediately complained that it was keilbasa. My husband went up to question it but the young ladies working there insisted it was knockwurst. I don't think they'd recognize the difference. They kept insisting it was knockwurst, but they were wrong. You can see from the pictures that it was not knockwurst. It was good for keilbasa, but that was it. My meat platter had the chicken, ribs & pulled pork. It was a bit dry so I went up & got a cup of Carolina bbq sauce. Grandma's platter had brisket & she didn't like it. It was shredded like pulled pork. She likes more traditional brisket. My kids split the garlic mac and cheese. They liked it. The weird thing is that the sides of mac and cheese that were supposed to come with the meat platters (once we got them) were not good. They tasted very sour and were undercooked. The mussels were good. They weren't great, but they were good. I like the cream sauce and yes there was a lot of garlic. They were small mussels but tasty. However, they were already cooling off by the time we got them. My husband drank Hoegaarden, his favorite, and he was happy to do so. I have to say that for the most part we were pretty disappointed. We've been there before and the food was better. I think it was better when we went for the bacon fest, even though they were out of certain dishes that night. Thirty foot communal tables and a friendly vibe. Indoor and outdoor choices. Surprisingly good meat choices. We grabbed a few Allagash and Ommegang brews and waited for our food which was crazy big for two. Chicken, andouille sausage, Mac n cheese, BBQ wings, ribs, pulled pork. Insanely good. This is a fantastic spot when weather is right and I'm looking forward to going back soon. read more

Zeppelin Hall - American Near Me - Jersey City, New Jersey

Zeppelin Hall is located right next to the Jersey Ave light rail station. The decor is a little cheesy. It almost reminded me of EPCOT's Germany. My boyfriend and I came in on a Thursday at around 7. It seemed like most people were just drinking and not really having dinner there. I can see why. It's endless happy hour on Thursdays - half off drinks, so a beer will only run you about $5. Plus, the food isn't very good. Here is everything we ordered: Smoked chicken wings - this had a nice smokey flavor to it but the chicken was extremely dry. I thought I was eating chicken jerky. It's served on top of a bed of onion straws but those just tasted like a giant ball of grease. Sausage sampler - you get to choose 3 out of a list of 5 sausages. I picked the kielbasa, chicken bratwurst, and cheesy bratwurst. The best one was probably the cheesy bratwurst but only because I love cheese. The chicken was just alright. After about halfway through, that's when I realized how salty it actually was. The fries it came with didn't help because they dumped a pound of salt on that too. The Hindenburger - a burger topped with a quarter pound bratwurst, sautéed onions, thick cut bacon, and your choice of cheese. Again, super salty but it's not something you realize until later. The few bites I had were pretty good. I can't remember all the beers we had but the system is kind of weird. Certain beers are only available in the hall and others are only available at the pub. So if you're getting a few different beers, expect to possibly be running back and forth. I would definitely come back but probably just for Thursday happy hour. I wouldn't mind trying a pretzel but that's it, as far as food goes. read more
