Came here on a Friday night. Absolutely loved this place. The ambience is so chill and relaxed. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating! Multiple bars, great portions of food, reasonable prices and the selections of beers were great!! We came with a large group of people and everyone was comfortable. A really large venue for you to bring your friends. It's styled with a small area at the door but in the back it has a much larger area to drink and order food. The service here was really good and the bartender took care of my friends and I as we were coming in and out. Only thing that is a drawback is the fact that is away from the strip. Finally made it here. Mostly a self service place as their are no waiters or waitresses here and as heartwarming as McDonalds. Get your beer from the bar, walk up to the window and order your food from a clueless order taker. The portions are good size, prices good, the beer selection is outstanding but there is absolutely NO attention given to customers while they are enjoying their beer and food. At least ask me how my food is or how I am from a passing manager. Paid a short visit to the Iron Monkey a few blocks away and immediately felt welcomed as soon as I walked in the door. read more

This place needs to do some serious soul searching. 4 pm, 90% empty... dog show on one tv, NBA channel with no game on the large projector... cold play on the stereo... it's the college football playoffs, come on.... We have had nothing but terrible experiences here, unfortunately Jersey City doesn't have a single sports bar in it so we're relegated to this dump across the street. Just got run out by a FAMILY of Penn State fans whose children were log rolling on the floor in the main walkway and climbing on my wife's purse at our table. If you want to bring your 2 year old to a bar, or are riding the light rail in from bayonne for some Jersey shore vibes, this is your spot. If you want to watch the two largest college games of the year and are expecting it to actually be on the tvs instead of the AKC dog show.... look elsewhere. read more

But ... when people come here for those amenities and you spontaneously and erratically close up shop, people are you going to know that it's not a place they can rely on. they're going to find another place to go. You're basically asking us not to come here. I will be delighted to change my review if you change your business practices. Really was a great establishment and night overall, staff was kind and helpful leading up to organizing my event and night of. Felt very disappointed when looking at my credit card bill after the event however. Although I received a breakdown of the estimated invoice before, the bill signed off on the night of was NOT what hit my credit card. It was that total I signed off PLUS a deposit. For most establishments the total bill INCLUDES the deposit, not in addition. Be sure to clarify with the manager on the floor what you are actually signing off on. Clarity goes a long way, no one likes surprises.... Maybe will return, won't be for a while though... read more

I love this place for large gatherings. I had my birthday and a friend's birthday and even without booking for a party, we were able to find seats to accommodate 20-40 people. It's a large open seating beer garden with a menu thats pretty typical. The prices aren't terrible, but for food that is only "not bad", I think it's a bit overpriced. The music is also not bad if you enjoy pop/EDM. They have two sections to the building: the first is a little quieter with a smaller bar, and if you go past the double doors, you'll find the DJ and a much larger seating area. If you go even farther, you'll find some more seating. Their outdoor area isn't bad, but there won't be much other than the company of the people you're with. read more

One of the most chill places to come and relax with a beer and some friends. Decided to come here for my sister's birthday. Had gotten a bunch of friends together and we had a great time together. There are 2 bars inside and usually not too bad of wait. Plenty of seating in the two rooms inside and out group took up 2 long tables. Music was playing throughout the night. We got our tall mugs of beer. They have a variety of beers on tap so you beer snobs will find that beer for you! We had also ordered food. They have different themed menus at times ranging from an Oktoberfest back in September to seafood. I just ordered the giant pretzel which is served with pub cheese and 2 kinds of mustards. Idk those giant soft pretzels always goes with beer for me. My friend had ordered this s'mores platter and we were literally making s'mores right at our table with a small flame. It was pretty cool! Overall it was a chill night with friends. Service is always good with the food always being served quickly and the bartenders getting to all the customers quickly. There was always someone cleaning up the empty cups and beer mugs. The pretzels were amazing. The beer they had for October fest were huge not sure if that's a regular thing or not. It was 7-9$ a beer which is expensive but it was like having two beers or more. They had corn hole you could play in the backyard. Two bathrooms very convenient. They had some live German music going on around 11pm but it wasn't very good. Zeppelin Hall will forever be one of my favorite spots in Jersey City. I'm way more of a bar/chill outdoor scene kind of person, and if you are too then you should absolutely check this place out. I first came here about four years ago and have gone regularly ever since. There's a wide variety of beer, the food is delicious, and to top it all off- it's extremely affordable. Has everything you would want in a beer garden! Lots of beer options on tap with multiple bars throughout the entire venue so you really never have to wait. I went on a Friday night and was able to get my beer pretty quickly. Food is not expensive and very good. I had a chicken schnitzel sandwich and the wings with mac and cheese. I had them sub out the bbq sauce with buffalo sauce and it was delicious. Their wings were huge but only came with 4 wings in an order. The mac and cheese was the real shiner though. Creamy, delicious and perfectly cooked with bread crumbs. I came here with a large group of people and we moved around quite a lot and there were plenty of tables. 3 large indoor rooms and a large outdoor seating area with their own bar outside. I only wished that they wiped the tables a little more because it was kinda sticky, but what can i expect on a Friday night. Their parking lot is also awkwardly placed. Had to walk around the entire train station because there was no pathway directly from the parking lot to the beer garden even though it was right behind. It was free though, so I guess not much to complain about. Heard their that they have unlimited happy hour on Thursday (1/2 price beers which = $3 1/2 liter beers) so definitely have to come back! read more

Our decision to come here the day after the largest and only blizzard of the year was probably not the wisest of decisions. It was also one of the coldest days of the year. This place is also on the water so the chill was cutting. But the beer selection here more than made up for the frigid and ridiculous weather me and my friend were trying to pretend wasn't there. I believe I had been here once before. It took me a minute to recognize. It had been almost 7 or 8 years I think since the last time I went with friends of friends from their law school. I thought not much of it at the time but really glad I checked the spot out again. Pluses of the spot - It's enormous. There are multiple huge rooms with large picnic tables and tvs. There's also an outdoor beer garden area of course for the warmer months. Food we tried - the sausage sample platter. It's a huge variety if you have no idea what you want to get yourself into. Bratwurts, kielbasa, andouille, chicken, and cheese bratwurst all served with sauerkraut and they have a variety of mustards to try with them. We also split their mozzarella sticks (can't go wrong with these pretty much ever). Their mac and cheese was alright. It was creamy and cheesy and had bacon but was lacking in something I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe just needed something to not make it as bland. And lastly we tried their potato pancakes served with sour cream and apple sauce. This was the only major fail of the night. The pancakes were almost burnt and I don't get why they serve apple sauce out of a mott's container but it'd be cuter if it came in a nondescript bowl so I have no idea it's straight out of the jar. I will give the beer garden credit though, I think they were both low on ingredients and staff because of the insane weather and was probably a rough day to try their food. This place wins with their options of beer though. They seem to switch things up every week and month and have shipments of some pretty rare stuff you won't find at most bars. They also do flights of four different beers on draft if you can't make up your mind. Definitely a fun place and hopefully will come back next time I'm in Jersey. read more

Wow, has this place completely gone to hell? I have been a customer here since the week they opened. I have been here well over 100 times and have mostly had a nice time on my many visits. Good but not great food, a nice beer selection of German staples and American craft, a great beer hall vibe inside and out and easy car-free access right along the Light Rail train line. Recently though this place seems to be completely falling apart. Each time I have been here over the last couple of months things are getting worse and worse. First more then half the food menu disapeared. How can that even be? Who does that to a restaurant?? Then they have completely stopped offering their nice food event theme menus. Many of the better foods that we have depended on since the place opened such as the potato pancakes, spaetzle, bacon dishes, etc are now MIA. From their much reduced menu I ordered the andioulle last night (which I've had many times in the past) and it was absolutely inedible. It had large chunks of fat and a texture like stale chewing gum. The German potato salad tasted old and over-refrigerated. Just fucking terrible. Also two of the three bars are now closed on the so-called Thursday "endless" happy hour night. That prevents customers from enjoying the complete list of beers and most of the better selections are now only in the bars that are "closed" with no explanation. So you can no longer order any of these beers, you can just stop by, stare at the taps and wish! The outside biergarden bar was also closed on a beautiful night which was ridiculous. The bottle coolers which previously contained a great selection are now sad, tired and and mostly empty. What remains is the same leftover dead stock that no one is going to buy and this has been the situation for months now. There used to be a fun and ever-changing selection of nice bottles and cans to choose from but not any more. Surprisingly, there actually was one new selection that I wanted to order from the bottle cooler but the bartender could not figure out a way to actually go to the cooler and serve it! When I complained, she claimed that she could not find the manager so there was no resolution what so ever. This is just insane and completely unprofessional. I don't know what happened to the management or ownership here but the place seems to be coming apart and is on a fast downward spiral. It's really a shame as it's always been fun but after all these years, I think we are now done with Zeppelin Hall. read more

Super upset I had dinner here this evening. Worst brisket I've ever had. It was dry like overcooked turkey breast. It just fell apart, was salty, and the texture just was hard to consume. I left half of my half pound uneaten. If you go here, just eat, do not even bother with the food. This is a place where you can find different types of beers because after all it is a Biergarten. You can definitely go with a group of friends or family members because they have lots of space and different rooms. They also have an outside area to enjoy the weather during nice summer days but they also set it up to be used during the winter, which I found interesting. I'm giving them a 3 star because when it comes to variety in food, cocktail drinks, and wine the choices are slim. I wouldn't recommend the wine however it was bad to say the least. I understand that they cater to their speçialty which is beer but what happens to the members in your group that don't drink beer but cocktail drinks. read more

Who knew a day in February would be the perfect time to enjoy a beer outside. Came to Zeppelin Hall on a whim Sunday afternoon and it was fantastic. The outside area was pretty packed and I love the way the tables are set up. Was nervous there wouldn't be a place to sit, but we had plenty of seating options and the space is huge so you aren't sitting on top of other people. Beer selection is excellent and you definitely get your money's worth. Could hardly hold the large beer, but it was delicious and unique. Most of the beers on the list I didn't recognize, and I like seeing that. Can't wait for the weather to be consistently beautiful, I will definitely make my way back here again. read more

This place was just ok it wasn't great. The pictures on Instagram made the food look very appetizing but in reality it was plainly plated and average. I guess the biggest draw here would be the beer and the large screen televisions which are great for watching sporting events. They have a huge beer list with a great variety on tap. It's a really big place with two sides the bar side and a dining hall side. We sat in the bar side and the service was great or server was very attentive and we didn't wait long for our food. I'd definitely try this place for something like Super Bowl I'm sure it's lots of fun. read more

So Zeppelin used to be one of my favorite places. It was a great beer garden - spacious, with dark wood communal tables, great selection of beers, and some tasty food. I'd go here a lot with friends and it was always a good time. Over the years, I think it's lost the appeal that used to draw me here. The selection of beer is less exotic and varied, so it's more of a quantity-over-quality place now. It's super crowded. Last time I went here, the spaetzel made me sick later and one of the plates had some gunk on it. While they still have that Sunset Wheat I love, I feel the place has gone from 5 stars to 3 for me. It's fine, A-OK. But I liked it before and now go to other spots for a drink instead. read more

These four stars go directly to the amazing $22 sampler from last night that featured a big bit of all things BBQ. The food here is just so good - we got the giant pretzel (side cheese dip to die for) and the smoked chicken wings. I was expecting small, typical sized wings- these babies were full size and incredibly tasty. I like coming here with a big crowd for the serve yourself seating, large bar areas, and walk up window for food. Fire pits outside and extra seating- great for summer nights. I've been here many times, but never thought to review it. Now they offer brunch, which is the best idea for families that want to take their wandering young children to an open space without bothering anyone on a Sunday or Saturday afternoon. And if you don't have children or want to be near any of them, they do have an adult-only space during the day. Kids are also banished after a certain hour and i say banished in a positive way. Their menu can be hit or miss...my faves are the giant pretzel, burger and pierogis. The BBQ is only OK and brunch wasn't bad, but only tried the eggs. I can't review the beer, because i'm not a big beer drinker, but the knowledgeable bartenders will recommend from their large selection. Either way, it's not just about the food or drinks...the atmosphere is very laid back...it's a great casual open space to meet up with new or old friends...with kids or none. read more

Such a bad experience! I'm local and visit regularly so this is so unexpected for me - before this, Zeppelin has always been great. Today they moved to a forced table service model in the front room and I can't say enough how horribly managed it was. Normally we get food and drinks within 15/20m and all is correct and good. This time we had to ask for a server to even come by, and it looked like it was only one guy for the whole room. Food took forever, he brought out only half of it and didn't even remember the rest. I ended up having to leave after 1.5 hours to get home and didn't even get some of my food (that's how long it took!), but I made a point to pay before I left so no one else would get stuck with my bill and he STILL CHARGED THEM for it afterward! I'm appalled, and I won't be going back until they go back to the previous "order at the counter" system which worked perfectly fine. Going to warn others to steer clear as well. read more

This place is HUGE. I live in New York and really appreciate the space at this biergarten. There's like a million rooms and each room is enormous! One of the rooms has a stage so I can only hope they play live music there too! I ordered the dry smoked wings and the mac and cheese (plus ofc beer too) and they were delicious. I'm thoroughly impressed with the size. Service was good. It was pretty bare for a Friday afternoon but I can only imagine how packed it'll get later that evening. read more

Was cursed at and they wouldn't let my friend in saying there was a dress code for wearing boots (when everyone else was wearing the same thing in the bar. Mind you this is the weekend after the blizzard that hit the tri-state area and there was "slush" and deep puddles everywhere). Will not be back. Do not recommend. I have a definite love/hate relationship with Zep Hall. I've been going to Zeppelin Hall, nestled in Downtown's Liberty Harbor development, since it (and Liberty Harbor) opened in July of '09. At the time, I was blown away: a German-style beer hall with dozens of brews on tap, served in massive litre glasses, and heaping plates of German food to match (delicious wursts, huge pretzels, fine burgers..) The novelty wore off pretty quick. The beer is still the real draw here: drafts range from American microbrews (Carton IPA and Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout are favourites) to old school Continentals (Pilsner Urqell) and, of course, a pretty sizable selection of German standbys (Spaten, Radeberger, Hofbräu, and the much-missed Schneider Aventinus) and prices are decent, consider the surroundings. The atmosphere can get downright claustrophobic, even in the outdoor beer garden. Much of the clientele are yuppies and frat boys. Portion size on the food has shrunk a bit in the past years, too. And yet, I'll keep coming back. If you're out with a group of friends, looking to kick back for a few hours with drinks and food...this is the place to do it in Downtown Jersey City read more
