Got udon with beef for my daughter.. as she was eating i saw her took out something from her mouth and put it on the table so i took a good look at it i almost had a heart attack!! It was a piece of metal!!!!and it was a decent size!! It wouldve been real bad if she swallowed it!! We told the waiter and he went to talked to the chef a few mins later he came out apologizing he told us the chef said it was from the scrub thay they use to clean the stuff with.That was all they did! First time I came here was around September. AYCE is a little over $50 after tips and tax. Service was great, ambience was great, and most importantly, food was delicious. HOWEVER, the reason I'm giving it a 2 star is because of my second trip back. I remember hyping this restaurant up to my friend who isn't really the biggest fan of sushi. She was hesitant because she's scared of raw fish. Anyways... we end up coming and it was not like the first experience I've had here. We found a hair in my friend's roll and when we mentioned it to the waitress, she picked up our plate and looked really closely as if it wasn't there and then said "oh... I guess we can make you a new one". Even though she let us have a new roll, she wasn't apologetic about food SAFETY measures. It's a restaurant not our own kitchen. Then we overheard our guy waiter talking to the table next to us. He was chatting with a customer talking about "people who order rolls are fake sushi eaters". I get it, to each their own, but it made my friend feel uncomfortable as she's scared of raw fish so that's all she was ordering!! Anyways, that's not even the worst part. The worst part was that we got food poisoning for two days straight. I finally had convinced my friend to try the different pieces of sashimi and nigiri and we ended up getting food poisoning!! There is also HAPPY HOUR on their rolls (M-TH 3:00-6:00pm & 8:30pm - close) Having visited multiple times due to proximity, I find their sushi quality fair--not exceptional, but definitely not bad either. Customer service is generally good, but during busy periods, expect to actively seek out your server since they're usually juggling multiple tables. They used to have premium high quality seafood; now the ayce is lower quality, most of the premium items were "out of stock" (how convenient). And the service is not what is used to be. A MUST TRY! POSSIBLE 5/5 FOR SOME It seems that many of my favorite sushi restaurants have gone through some changes lately. This has led to become more pen about trying new places other than going to my usuals. Therefore, this restaurant was noticed. Below is a review of my first time experience of the AYCE (All You Can Eat) in the form of a short-list of Pros and Cons. Pros: 1) Carpaccio! This is one sushi restaurant, and possibly one of the few, that has carpaccio dishes available on their AYCE! There are about 4-5 of try and all of them are amazing! 2) All dishes served were fresh and positively memorable! I only regret that my stomach was not big enough to try every single thing on the AYCE menu. Cons: 1) The heavy hitting con: The price of the AYCE is somewhat steep, and even more so during the weekend. It is about $50 a person - so be sure to come on an empty stomach. 2) Some items on the menu are only able to ordered in the first round, and only at a max of 2 orders per person - the carpaccio dishes included. So, be sure to order all these items first to try while on the first round and hope you don't get full early on in your AYCE session. This gave me the impression that although some of the more premium options are included in the AYCE - yet only available the first round only - it may be there to justify the steep price of the All You Can Eat. 3) During my visit, I had to ask more questions about their AYCE menu more than I would at other sushi restaurants. Closely tied in with Con #2, some things about ordering were not very clear on the menu itself. So I had to ask more questions than usual. 4) The restaurant staff could be more informative and friendly up front. They were not rude or anything, I just felt like a basic customer for most of my time spent there until I was perceived (by staff) as a friendly customer. In other words, it took time for staff to warm up and be friendly. One server/ sushi chef, Robert, was the absolute exception tho - I hope I remembered the correct name. Overall, Zeppin was a great place! The atmosphere was great! There were not too many bouts of missing orders or lengthy waits in between orders received. The restroom was clean and well managed. I would come back for another AYCE sitting, but I would probably go during their lunchtime for their lunch special as it is less pricey than the dinner time/ weekend AYCE price. read more

Tried this place for lunch and it was pretty full. When you enter the host will ask if you want the AYCE (all you can eat), or if you will be ordering off the menu, I asked to see the menu first and they seated me and provided me with the regular menu, along with the AYCE ticket. The AYCE seem to have the regular flair, and I wasn't that hungry, so I elected to go with a bento box with 2 items (beef teriyaki and tempura). I added the crispy squid, which was a mistake (not in a bad way) lol. Anyway, the bento box comes with miso soup and salad. This is important because the soup is good, but the salad is great. I would come back here just to eat the salad. Most of the time you eat at a Japanese restaurant, they throw in this little green salad with a ginger based dressing, but Zeppin's is different. You may try it and think, meh, just a salad, but I thought it was great. No onto the meal, there was a lot of food in the box, making me regret ordering the crispy squid, even though that was extremely delicious (light batter, not oily, crispy and tasty). The only item is thought was meh, was the teriyaki beef. It had a different flavor, but not like the salad I like, just different. Maybe a little smokiness, but I wasn't sure what to think. It wasn't bad, not chewy, but didn't make me want to order it again. Know what I mean? Anyway, the service was good, the place had a cool feel and most of the food was great. I just posted a review on the neighboring restaurant (Devil's Kitchen) and this place is a close second to that spot. When I am in the mood for AYCE, I'll come back and try all the items I can on that menu and give you an update. read more

Have visited a few times and the food is always good. Standard prices but some rolls with some higher-end roll options. That being said, the fish seems fresh so happy to pay a little more for quality. This time we tried the halibut sashimi and didn't care for it. It wasn't very flavorful and the pieces of fish were chewy so I had to spit some out. For $19 expected to enjoy it more. Staff is always friendly, with various people coming to the table to take order, offer refills, etc. - but done so in a natural, helpful way so you don't feel bombarded. Not a lot of seating inside, but I did see outside tables. Our last visit was at 2pm on a Saturday and we got one of the last tables. I liked the carpaccio, it came out 4 thin slices/ order. They have 6 kinds of carpaccio in lunch menu and have 10 kinds of carpaccio on the dinner menu where the beef carpa is sear and it is good. It's medium rare. The yellowtail carpa is the best !! The roll was amazing. I like zeppin roll, Kabuto roll, and black dragon. The crispy squid(3pcs) and baked musssel (4 pcs) was the best appetizer. Went to happy hour sushi at Zeppin for my daughters bday. There were six of us so we got a lot of food (some sushi not pictured). We ordered gyoza to start which went so fast I couldn't get a picture! It was crispy and great flavor. Loved the sauce. I ordered the krab stick sushi which was amazing! It came with a large krab stick which was surprising but in a good way. I also had some of the seared beef sushi which I thought lacked a little flavor but was really tender almost melt in your mouth. The guys ordered the rainbow rolls and black dragon roll along with salmon, tuna, albacore and escolar sushi. The fish was quite fresh and great ratio of rice to fish. The rolls were great. We also ordered the spicy Cali crispy rice. Love the crunch of the rice with the spiciness of the crab and jalapeno. Good stuff! Because we were a large group, the tip was included, which made it so much easier. The place itself is rather large and it was pretty comfortable and definitely a clean facility. We will be going back because there are lots of other things that we wanted to try, but I definitely recommend going on a happy hour if you're looking to save a buck and you have a large group that wanna get a lot of different things. One warning is, if you want to eat all you can eat sushi there everybody at the table has to order all you can eat otherwise not just one singular person can have it. So keep that in mind! Both had a great amount of seafood and wasn't filled up with rice and veggies. The rice was soft and was not hard, so you know the rolls were not premade. Again, they tasted FRESH!
