Everything was great, the food was delicious, the service was good, and the view beautiful

Definitely one of my new favorite brunch spots - made it into my top 5 (in terms of food and location, at least)! Love the casual vibe of this place. It's waterfront and can be accessed via the boardwalk (it's behind the street-side shops). Parking can be tough and very expensive - you'll likely have to park in the structure and walk over. Make sure to take your ticket with you for validation. Seating is available inside and outside on their covered patio. Plenty of space for parties of all sizes. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to make a same-day reservation for a Sunday afternoon. They had plenty of open seating even when we got there. Tables were very dirty. They have a lot of work to do - it seems like months if not years of food, dust, and salty moist air mixed together and collected in the creases in the tables, on the walls, etc.. It's like a sticky gross residue that never gets completely clean. Many people like to dress nice in the area but honestly I would hate to wear something nice here out of fear it would get dirty. We also required new plates as ours had old food stuck to them. Service was not great. Our waiter was somewhat attentive but not nice - the poor guy seemed miserable like he hated his job and did not want to be there. Despite the restaurant being full, he wouldn't come by often when we actually needed something - he even disappeared towards the end and a new waiter had to help us. Food is delicious. Besides the location, their saving grace. We tried the sandwiches and yummy! Fries were also delicious with the spicy mayo. Love the different options they have, overall. They also had some great looking food on the brunch and drinks section of the menu. You can scan the QR code at the table to see pictures of each menu item. Overall was good and we'll be back every once in a while because we love Lido. Will try sitting inside in hopes the tables are decent. Really hope management makes some improvements though! read more

We went around 9-10pm and the host gave us a table with napkins and utensils but no plate, so alright maybe they forgot. I usually come for the steak fries since the fries are good. However, today's service was so bad to the point that I been waving my hands and making eye contact to order for 15-20 minutes. And they were actually ignore us. Maybe we didn't dress decent enough for them to serve us since we were in our regular jean and tshirt. So I have to actually speak up and call them to order. So when we get to order, it was 10:20pm already. After the foods are brought out, we had a decent dinner together and they are about to close. So one of the server brought out the check for us to pay and we decided to pay with exact amount with cash and leave tip in cash also. One of the server genuinely SMIRKED at us while counting the money. Like he looked at us and SMIRKED. He probably has a bad day or a busy day but still, it's a Tuesday. So instead of a nice dinner and a good nap, we had a really bad close of the day because of service at Zinque. So if you want food at night, you can come to Zinque but don't expect too much for the services recently, since it was SO MUCH BETTER back then until today. read more

Zinqué is always a good idea. Made a reservation for a Saturday evening and we were seated immediately. We sat right along the boardwalk walkway and it was so relaxing with the water view. It was the Saturday before Mother's Day, so it was a little busier than usual, but it didn't compromise the service. Drinks came out a little slow, but the food arrived in a reasonable time. I ordered the house margarita and it was better than expected. I usually opt for wine here. The salmon was delicious and the yogurt sauce really set it off. We ordered Aperol spritz, pork banh mi, steak frites and mixed green salad. The banh mi sandwich was loaded with flavors. The thick slice of pork, pickled onions, crisp cucumber slice and spicy jalapeno meshed well with the sauce and delightful soft bread to round out the meal. Every bite was packed with flavor and even snuck a few steak pieces into for fun. The steak was cooked perfect, we asked for medium rare and paired well with the chimichurri. Came here for happy hour after a pilates class with my friend. I have been wanting to try Zinqué, and Lido is always such a nice place to visit. They offer a 3 for $24 deal during happy hour, but just know the tapas are definitely on the smaller side. We ordered the burrata Roman petite pizzas, crispy saffron rice bites (our server warned that this came with only three pieces), and the pâté de campagne. Everything tasted good, but I was a little disappointed by the portion size of the crispy saffron rice bites. They were a delicious snack, I wish it came with more. Same goes for the pâté, which was presented on 2 pieces of toast. For drinks, we had the Passion Sol and the Red Sangria. Both refreshing and delicious. The ambiance is beautiful. We sat outdoors with a harbor view, and they had heaters outside. Our table was candlelit with cozy cushioned seats. Parking is validated for 1 hour. Had an amazing time at Zinque. We had a reservation at 8:30 and were seated right away. Our server was very attentive and helpful and checked on us multiple times throughout the night. The food was amazing. Highly recommend the crispy brussel sprouts which were super flavorful and crispy, le bowl which was fresh and so satisfying for a salad, and the fries which were perfectly thin and crispy. While the atmosphere is good, it does not make up for the bad food and terrible service. Atmosphere itself is open, rustic, and has both indoor and outdoor seating right next to the marina. The service is pretty bad as you do not get the exact items you order. Staff also do not seem to care when you try to get this resolved. First of all, do not order the french fries if you are expecting to get the Sriracha mayo dip that is noted in the description of the item. They only give you ketchup. Second, do not order the flourless chocolate cake to go. Once again, the description clearly states that it comes with ice cream, however, this is not provided when you order it to go. Third, the Comte pizzas (mini pizzas) are pretty bad. The zucchini and onion "pizza" is just four small bites. It is also 80% bread with no toppings. This is definitely not worth the price. The crispy saffron rice bites are nothing like what you would expect. I have had many good crispy rice with tuna/salmon, and this was easily the worst one of all. The rice itself is not actually crispy, and the consistency is really weird. Additionally, they should put some salt or Sriracha mayo on this for a little more flavor as the whole thing overall is quite bland. Last, the salmon plate is OK. The same itself was actually pretty well seasoned and tasty, but the rest of the components like the rice and eggplant are lacking in a lot of flavor. If you order anything to go, do not expect the restaurant to resolve any issues. I called to discuss the inconsistencies with what I received versus what is specifically stated on the menu. The employee on the phone did not care and would not provide any partial refunds for the incorrect items. Unfortunately, I would never recommend the spot to anyone. read more

Loved this for girl's night. This is located in the Lido Marina Village, right next to Nobu. We made reservations for an early Friday night dinner and was seated on time. For our party of 5, we were comfortably seated in one of the corner booths. Made it to HH for their $12 craft cocktails and 3 for $24 small bites. The fries (spicy mayo) and the petite pepperoni pizza bites were good, the spicy chicken wings was not good at all, so skip that. We added the crispy brussels sprouts and grilled broccolini, red pepper & feta duo dip with their homemade foccacia, and a meat & cheese charcuterie board ($6 upgrade to have both meat & cheese) - total girl dinner we truly enjoyed. We shared some mains short ribs with gratin (good), Wagyu burger & fries (okay), and the rigatoni bolognese (okay). We enjoyed the appetizers and small plates over the entrees. The only serve wine & beer so all their cocktails are wine based. Tons of mocktail options as well. We love their hot drinks, London Fog, Matcha Latte, & a nice pot of the Jasmine Mandarin tea. My mom and I went to Zinque for breakfast on Saturday morning , and we ordered the Protein Bowl and the Fried Egg Sandwich. Unfortunately, it was not a good experience. The bagel/bread on the sandwich was extremely dry--so dry that my mom couldn't even take more than one bite. She ended up eating only the eggs, but even those were dry. My Protein Bowl wasn't too bad, but it wasn't anything special. Overall, the food was disappointing, and it wasn't a great breakfast experience. I don't think we'll be coming back. read more

They've just seated a new party at that table that she said they were waiting to clear? There's no follow thru. It seems disorganized. I don't understand why the manager let us wait 2 hours past our reservation , before telling us they strictly cannot seat our tables beside each other. The food didn't take long to come out. But it did take a hot minute just to place an order. (I knew what I wanted to order days ahead lol) Parking- 4 hours later my parking spot cost $27 after 1 hour validation. Clean, well lit garage. The metal staircase may startle you with each step sounding like a loud bang lol. I saw some street parking but is only 30 min. I've been to zinque twice and I've throughly enjoyed both times that Ive went. The first time was for brunch and that was very enjoyable, I love their brunch / lunch menu a lot. I remember getting the breakfast burrito and thag was mind blowing. This time, I went here for their steak frites and this was the best steak frites I've ever had, the fries are the perfect texture and they cooked the steak to juicy perfection. The service is so nice every one is helpful. I didn't feel I had the liberty to step in and say anything so I waited for them to finish the interaction, and then tried to check in, at that point 15 minutes late. Fortunately, they were able to find a table for me, but they seemed less than thrilled about it. I'll give them this, it was a crazy busy time because there was a boat show going on. I wish I had known because I would've never made the reservation during that hot mess. Mimosas were good, but I was there for the ratatouille to be quite frank. Their version is not it. Service was slow, but again there was a boat show. The place was packed, there was lots of through traffic, and it was really loud. It has to be better on a normal day because their reputation is much more positive than my experience. read more

Came here for dinner and although it was 5, it was already dark but can see the yachts parked and some lights from balboa. We sat outside under a heater which was nice. I ordered their falafel salad. Other members of the party ordered salmon, burger and the rigatoni bolognese. My wife got the quinoa salad topped with salmon. My falafel salad was nothing to write home about. It was a bed of mixed greens with some cherry tomatoes and avocados and 4 tiny falafel patties (they weren't balls). For me the food was 3 stars but everyone else in the party liked their dish although the bolognese comes in a small bowl. Bread and butter is extra. Service was great. My tea was as bland as Lipton and our friend's was served hot; herbal, floral and delish but he wanted ice. Perhaps our error. I had the BUCATINI AUX MORILLES and added shrimp. It was good and shrimp was cooked well. I also had a spicy margarita which was really good. This location in Newport Beach is located at the Lido Marina Village next to the Newport Bay and near Nobu. They have some public street parking and a paid parking structure. We came here for happy hour (4pm-6pm Monday through Friday) which includes $12 craft cocktails, $12 glasses of wine, and 3 tapas for $22. The espresso martini was very coffee-forward and not as spirit-forward. The spicy margarita was not super spicy and on the sweeter side for a margarita. The moscow mule had a clean flavor and wasn't as ginger-y as other moscow mules I've had. They have both indoor and outdoor seating along with seating by the bar. Had brunch at Zinqué in Newport and ordered the salmon tartine and the avocado toast. The salmon tartine was the standout. Generous slices of smoked salmon, perfectly cooked soft boiled eggs, fresh dill, capers, and a little crunch on top that gave it great texture. The bread was nicely toasted and sturdy enough to hold everything without getting soggy. Balanced, flavorful, and satisfying. The avocado toast was simple but well done. Chunky avocado with shaved parmesan on rustic bread. Fresh, clean flavors and not overloaded. A solid classic. The only downside was the espresso, which tasted noticeably bitter and a bit over extracted. It didn't match the quality of the food. Overall, great atmosphere and strong food execution. I would just love to see the coffee improved a little. I would still come back for the tartines. read more

The restaurant is in a beautiful area and the outdoor seating is much nicer than indoor. The food was good and the waitress was great. My only frustration is I asked for seating outside and pointed to an available table with six seats. The host said there's no outdoor seating available and we would have to sit indoor at the high bar. We took the seats, ate and left which took 1.5 hours and the outdoor table was still available. I came here for my birthday with a party of 8 people total. Absolutely terrible service and set up. We arrived and the table was set with 10 seats so it was extremely awkward to fit everyone around the table with extra seats even though they called to confirm a party of 8 earlier that afternoon. The drinks and food was very delicious. Although the steak and frites was extremely dry and not medium rare. We had 2 anaphylactic nut allergys at the dinner table. We made sure to tell the waiter the second we sat down and continued to make sure the dishes were nut free. The waiter proceeded to bring a walnut cake for the birthday desert (I'm the one with a nut allergy) and thank goodness we asked him twice to double check for nuts...... terrible experience and honestly would never return. read more
